Hello all..,
Let's clog up a brand spanking new club over here Smile

(By hello all, I guess I mean hello hazle. Hopefully the others will join us soon...)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Interesting you should say that Brave. My DH (veteran of one 7 year old) is also dead against any kind of co-sleeping and also said he thought baby should be in her own room by 8 weeks. I am happy to see how the non-co-sleeping goes but the baby will be staying in our room until I think she's ready to go to her own room, and if DH's doesn't like it then he'll have to sleep elsewhere. Grin

BraveLilBear · 25/02/2013 12:59

Quite right! My OH is also a veteran of a nearly 11-year-old. I think he thinks he knows it all, but is still in for a huge shock. He said 6 weeks.

The good thing is, he's very swayed by 'authority' so I was delighted to inform him the other day that all over this NHS authority there are posters saying it's safest for baby to sleep in the same room as parents for first 6 months of life. NHS, I thank you Grin

Still, don't get me wrong, I don't want to be a selfish 'if I can't sleep, neither can you' mare about it all - if baby won't settle I'll take it out the bedroom until it's settled again, especially if he's on the early shift for work.

HazleNutt · 25/02/2013 13:12

Ha only way I'd even consider putting a baby in another room would be if DH did all the night wakings and feedings. Do you think this might have been the case with your DP's? If they had to get out of bed every time and walk to another room, instead of just reaching over, they might feel differently.

BraveLilBear · 25/02/2013 13:17

Lol Hazle that's exactly what my mum said in a rare moment of agreement that I should thank him for offering to do all the night feeds!

CatsCantFlyFast · 25/02/2013 17:17

Grads... looks like there's some more coming your way (not me bollocks ) but come and have a look at the thread when you have a min. I'm very excited (can you tell?!) as it's the first BFP since I joined the Elderberries! And i'm FX we will all get one in the same month!!

janey1234 · 25/02/2013 17:19

I was just stalking looking and saw - how bloody brilliant!! Last time we did have a proper rush of BFP's together so everything crossed the same thing happens this time Smile

CatsCantFlyFast · 25/02/2013 17:34

Don't worry I am determined to join you guys this month unfortunately for you lot! as I refuse to get left behind! Grin

janey1234 · 25/02/2013 17:40

And we would very much like you to join us!
Now go get shagging Smile

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 25/02/2013 17:48

Oh how exciting, now less talking more shagging, its about time we had some more graduates.

And enjoy it while it lasts (mutters grumpily about useless OH freaking out about he idea of a baby being in there and not meeting my needs for a very long time now...hmm possible correlation between me wanting to murder everyone and the distinct lack of orgasms in recent months weeks? Perhaps a jolly good shag would improve my mood?)

CatsCantFlyFast · 25/02/2013 18:08

Ha purple... In complete opposite to getting totally bloody sick of TTC sex and longing for some fun that doesn't start with "is it that time?"! As they say you can't please us either way!

HazleNutt · 25/02/2013 18:16

Well about time! (this applies to both new graduates and Purple's OH)

Rache1S · 25/02/2013 18:48

Oooo, I loves me a good BFP (or 2) to brighten up my day. Grin

Purple we need to swap DP's (hypothetcically speaking of course). My DH is hornier than ever whereas I really can't be bothered most of the time since getting pregnant. Everywhere hurts, I feel like a whale and I can't find a comfortable position. I can't wait to get this baby out and get my mojo back... if DH hasn't divorced me by then!

Hazle I think DH was blessed with a rare baby who slept right through from birth so neither of them had to do any night get-ups. I suspect he is in for massive shock when ours turns up and is inevitably up several times a night like most normal babies are.

Fairydogmother · 25/02/2013 19:16

Hi there can I graduate?!

Still looking at the double lines on 2 tests in amazement!

HazleNutt · 25/02/2013 19:18

Of course, welcome Fairy! Or do you preferdogmother?

janey1234 · 25/02/2013 19:22

Yay yay welcome fairy!!

And enjoy - give yourself a few weeks and you'll be moaning like the rest of us Winkm

Bet you're over the moon, so happy for you and mother.

Oh, and had 20 wk midwife appt today. She asked if I could feel the baby (yes, very much so!) and I said he/she always seemed to go nuts at bedtime. She said that babies who sleep during the day and wake at night tend to do the same when born. Blush Am going to be around loud noises during the day as much as possible from now on..!

Fairydogmother · 25/02/2013 19:34

Either is fine for me lol!

I'm full of the cold so residing under the duvet for tonight and trying to figure out how we've been so lucky! Still in the shock phase I think.

Rache1S · 25/02/2013 20:16

Hi Fairy! Come on in! Grin
My favourite weeks of upduffedness so far were the early weeks 4-6 as they were symptom-free and I was so over-the-moon at the BFP so make the most of them before the dreaded MS rears its head. Grin I hope your cold gets better soon.

Janey my little bundle of joy also seems to wake up at bedtime. Sad But she doesn't wake up until lunchtime and I'll take a lie in over an early night any day. Smile

Fairydogmother · 25/02/2013 20:23

Weird thing is I haven't had a cold in years! And I get it now! DP just home from work so he can do the nursing and tea thing lol. Incidentally do people switch to decaf tea? I only have 1-2 cups a day but wasn't sure if I should swop

janey1234 · 25/02/2013 20:32

I don't drink tea or coffee but look it up on the nhs site - I know too much is def bad...
And re the cold, I've basically had one since I got knocked up. And I never get colds! So I'm afraid you might have to get used to having sniffles. Apparently it's something to do with reduced immunity so you don't reject the baby as a foreign body?

OP posts:
Rache1S · 25/02/2013 20:50

There are about 75mg of caffeine in a normal strength cup of tea so 1-2 cups a day should be fine to stay within the 200mg guidelines. There is caffeine in other stuff too such as chocolate and soft drinks (especially colas/energy drinks) so watch your intake of them.

Personally I have one normal cuppa in the morning and then switch to decaf. I find that Yorkshire Tea Decaf is the most convincing.

Fairydogmother · 25/02/2013 20:59

Luckily I don't drink any fizzy drinks (I can't burp!) and have only started liking tea about 3 months ago! But I'll switch to decaf just in case. Tea is the only thing making me feel a tiny bit better with this flipping cold!

I may go and buy several boxes of man size hankies tomorrow!

HazleNutt · 25/02/2013 21:19

Oh great I just broke a tooth! While eating prunes that were supposed to be pitted and one obviously wasn't. Big piece off. Hope my dentist has time for me tomorrow, but I can't say I actually enjoy going there. Stupid prunes.

Rache1S · 25/02/2013 21:21

I switched to all decaf straight after my BFP but I found I just couldn't give up my lovely fully-caffeinated first brew of the day so it's my daily treat now and I savour it. I have to take drinking pleasure in unexpected places since having to give up wine.

I haven't had a cold since getting pregnant but am I right in thinking you can't take most cold medicines while pregnant?

Rache1S · 25/02/2013 21:22

Oh no Hazle! FX your Dentist can sort you out tomorrow.

janey1234 · 25/02/2013 21:57

Oh hazle that sucks.
And yes, basically you're not allowed any medicine. Although usually I just choose to kill bugs with copious booze so I'm not missing over the counter drugs too much....Wink
