New thread as the other one is nearly full Xmas Shock!

Our next baby should be pmgkt's, but I won't if any little cheeky monkey will sneak in before Thursday?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bealos · 07/01/2013 16:54

hormonal how terrible for your friend. What it expected that the baby would be poorly?

milkand2sugars · 07/01/2013 17:06

Just looking for a bit of advice even tho 4th time round I should know it all by now.

Been in constant pain lower back and pelvis all afternoon with occasional cramping which hasn't followed a regular patern. Been stuck on sofa all day just walking around the house makes me want to cry.

Could this be early labour? Labour with my first 2 were text book timed contractions that got closer together no constant pain like this time. 3rd labour was induced so was in hospital and knew it was coming.

Also all 3 of mine were overdue and I'm only 38+4 so wasn't expecting anything yet.

Opinions please early labour? Or just how the next few weeks are going to be? Anyone got a crystal ball?

allchik · 07/01/2013 17:17

Ah milk I seem to be the queen of false starts so not sure but that must suck :( hope it all starts soon with breaks inbetween!

Bit annoyed as after having bout 6 contractions this morn ive had nothing since...went to the loo bout 2 and my plug came out (sooo rank!) so what dya think ladies?? Booked in for induction on thdm 20th at 42wks but really wnt things to happen before then!!

eagleray · 07/01/2013 17:23

Sorry milkand2sugars - no advice from me but having similar so sympathise! I am 38+3 so a day behind you and feeling pretty rough today. Feel ok when I am on sofa, but am in so much pain when I get up to walk around. Blinkin' house is spread out over 4 floors too, so doing anything is really tiring.

This is my first so am clueless as to whether this pain means anything or not - hopefully someone more sensible will be along to advise you soon!

Congratulations to all the new arrivals these last few days!

Hormonalhell · 07/01/2013 17:39

Mama Mary and bealos, no don't have any details as yet but I spoke to her at parents evening in October and she never said there were problems. Just can't believe she's lost him Sad not sure about taking my baby in to visit now

On a happy note tho been to hosp today and as its my due date week tomorrow I will get an induction date....thank the lord!!

Hormonalhell · 07/01/2013 18:54

I feel your pain Milk, I had to trek down to hosp today and cos I have no car at mo it's a 20 minute walk to my bus stop. By the time I got home was in agony Hmm nice bath helped but it's brought on BH's again

woody2313 · 07/01/2013 19:24

Congratulations to all the new arrivals Smile - it is really lovely to hear all about these gorgeous new babies.
So sorry to hear your news hormonal - feel so sad for that poor woman Sad
Having thought I was losing some of my plug on Friday, I have had nothing since and the midwife says baby's head is no more engaged than it was 2 weeks ago (a bit ambitious anyway given that my due date is still over 2 weeks away Hmm)
Guess I just need to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet - or so everyone keeps telling me!

theboutiquemummy · 07/01/2013 20:11

allchik you are on your way the plug seems to be the signal for the baby's head to fully engage x

According to the midwife all these false starts arnt really false starts they are the start of stage 1 labour which can take up to 3 weeks BlushAngrySad but it's your body's way of getting ready for stage 2 Pushing !!!

Good Luck to everyone who is waiting to deliver x

Lora1982 · 07/01/2013 20:59

Dexter was born a tinyish 8lb 9 and a half at 11,30 this morning. So the fatty growth scans were wrong... Surprise. Il do a birth story when im allowed to leave here... Currently tied up to a catheter :'(

theboutiquemummy · 07/01/2013 21:10

chutestoonarrow we loved the name when they held him out to us we both just said hello Gabriel and that was it done x Don't you think it's nice to have an unusual name x

pascha sympathise entirely with the whole synto thing I had it during labour because they were worried about blood loss n then after ecs it was bloody terrible hurt like a bugger, n my epidural failed for 16hrs no one would believe me that it hurt like hell x Blush

Worst thing was I still lost 2 1/2 litres of blood n now I have to have injections for 6 weeks Blush

Still it was worth it I look at that boy n it makes me cry happy tears Grin

Good Luck if you are labouring xox

Lostbobbles · 07/01/2013 21:32

Congrats Lora, yet another fab name.Grin

Milk, I started getting more back pain yest and cramping today but nothing regular yet. My first labour started with back ache and cramps but contraction's were regular within an hour.

Hormonal, such awful news can't begin to imagine what she must be going through. Life can be so cruel.

Still hoping to keep baby inside until at least Thursday. I have hair appoint tom, DH has to travel weds (luckily not vast distance) and just seen some really nice boots I need to go try.

Hormonalhell · 07/01/2013 22:23

I know Lostbobbles I just can't comprehend it Sad

Well i'm having quite regular pains every 10 mins, but happened so many times now I've resigned myself to the fact im going to be induced next week Hmm

theboutiquemummy · 07/01/2013 22:48

Lora congratulations loving the name Dexter I'm under the impression those growth scans are a load of rubbish they were expecting a 10lb er from me x

theboutiquemummy · 07/01/2013 22:50

Hormonal it's awful to think that this has happened feel so sorry for her

So neurotic we brought one of those angel
Alarms

Hormonalhell · 08/01/2013 08:03

I know Boutique, she's a lovely teacher too. Really good with the kids and she'd just got married so was in that 'so happy about life' zone. Poor poor girl Sad

Tugstonia · 08/01/2013 08:28

Congrats lora! Love the name Dexter.

Hormonal your poor friend, that is just so awful :(

Anyone else feeling less movement as we get closer to the end? The last few days the movements have really changed/reduced from big nudges and kicks to little flutterings. I ended up at the hospital last night after panicking about lack of movements and they put me on the monitor and all was fine thankfully. They were great and said to come in if I ever feel worried about movements, not to sit at home and fret. Reduced movement probably because baby is more engaged now and less room to wiggle. Just wondered if anyone else is getting this?

woody2313 · 08/01/2013 08:32

Congratulations Lora!

Congratulations Lora! Love the name Dexter. It was on our list if we were having a boy.

Tugs I'm not getting as much movement, but when she does move it's really quite intense. Sometimes it can be quite painful, though I'm not sure if that could be BH as, afaik, I haven't had any yet.

Got MW appt. this morning.

Hope everyone is well, and all babies are doing great

salt1 · 08/01/2013 09:56

just looking for a bit of advice re breast pumps. this baby will be my first (and last) but i am not sure whether i need to buy a breast pump now pre birth or wait til i know if i need one. what are your thoughts on this?

allchik · 08/01/2013 09:59

Congrats lora love thdm name!
tugs im the op,im getting more movement now, spesh between 10pm-2am (the joy) think u do right to get checked though x

so ive been having contractions again since bout 11pm...theyre lasting bout 40secs but are only happening roughly every 30mins??theyre strong enough to wake me but theyre not hugely intense...what dya think?surely they should be getting closer together by now!? X

happyhow · 08/01/2013 10:12

I'm just back from the midwife where she did "one hell of a sweep. If it doesn't work, you've got a very stubborn baby!" There was a student there too so she had a go as well. I'm thinking it would be pretty poor luck for me if I'm going back for a sweep next Monday... Got an induction date too although I've had some pretty intense tightenings just driving home in the car Smile

Going to repack my hospital bag just now and do some tidying just in case I'm lucky for once in my life!!!

Allchik, sounds like things are getting going but it could just be practicing... I hate this unknown of when it's all going to kick off!

Re breast pumps. I'm a first timer so I'm sure there will be someone more qualified to answer... I've been told to avoid the tommee tippee ones. The medela swing is apparently amazing (a few of my friends have bought this one) and another friend told me she was really surprised at how good the avent manual one was and it's only £30-ish. She borrowed a medela swing with her first child.

happyhow · 08/01/2013 10:13

Oh, and I haven't bought a pump just yet. Figured it was something that could be bought after a few days once I'm home and a bit settled.

salt1 · 08/01/2013 10:36

sorry should also have said congrats to lora x

salt1 · 08/01/2013 10:39

thanks happy this i will wait and see too x
