That's rubbish Alison maybe initiate the cleaning tomorrow n then have a funny turn which means DH has to finish it without you Xmas Grin

MyDaydream · 01/12/2012 21:23

Strawberry good luck if it is labour, how exciting.
The top of my bump has been really painful all day, it feels like I've pulled a muscle right in the centre.

ISpyPlumPie · 01/12/2012 21:41

X-post earlier Honey - agree that she sounds totally manipulative and her behviour is the last thing you need.

Ellie - hope you're ok. Agree best to get things checked out to be on the safeside.

Alison - sorry to hear about your shit day. Fx tomorrow is better.

Sounds promising Strawberry - similar to how I started.

brooke89 · 01/12/2012 22:15

Good luck strawberry if things are happening!

alison hope you feel better - make him do the housework tomorrow!

ellie hope everything is ok

strawb good luck if things are getting going.

We had a lovely christmassy start to december christmas fair this morning then lights switch on this eve and going out for family christmas dinner tomorrow cant wait :) would quite like baby to arrive on monday so might try some romance tomorrow night :) and if that fails going to set off walking on mon and not stop till something happens :)

HoneyMum21 · 01/12/2012 23:04

Glad you got checked out and all is ok ellie.

Thanks everyone - DH does generally give his mum the benefit of the doubt, even when she is being unreasonable so the fact he's admitting to being pissed off says a lot but its good to hear other people's views! We're def considering changing Christmas plans fr going to hers to the 3 of us staying put on our own. If it wasn't for DH's grandparents that's deg what we'd be doing. Still may.

Exciting strawberry!

Spotty good news on Felix. Smile

Honey your mil sounds like really hard work, but agree with others it sounds like your dh is onside - she's only shooting herself in the foot.

V impressed with everyone getting trees sorted; was planning to do ours next weekend which is a week before dd - is that naive? Still need to finalise presents, wrap and write cards next week too...

Terrywoganstrousers · 02/12/2012 00:55

Arrgh, just noticed the new thread, thought things were quiet over there!! Heartburn horrendous tonight and run out of gaviscon so I literally feel like I'm dying.
Also getting weird scraping pains inside the front of my bump right at the bottom- is it the baby's head scraping on my pelvis do we think?

brooke89 · 02/12/2012 03:26

Wide awake and early for the 4am club Hmm really do miss a good nights sleep on my belly

Could be terry - I get sharp shooting pains if I walk too much or sit cross legged for too long which I'm sure is baby's head on cervix so maybe it feels different for everyone.

utopian I'm never this organised always lash minute dash for Christmas presents but I've been off work for so long I've got things done earlier this year

Terrywoganstrousers · 02/12/2012 03:32

I'm still awake tooSad
Heartburn and my rib is really giving me gyp, plus I vomited ( because of the heartburn) about half an hour after I'd taken paracetamol for the rib, so i don't think i got the best from those ones Hmm
I'm waiting till I can take another set, maybe ill be able to sleep, maybe not because of the heartburn Sad

brooke89 · 02/12/2012 03:36

Sad Doesn't sound good - not long now for the rest of us!

Secondsop · 02/12/2012 04:14

Morning. We brought Zach home today which was amazing. But I think he has a malfunction that you only discover when you get the item home from the store. He WILL NOT SETTLE to sleep tonight except for on one of our chests. He also soiled a nappy, which I changed a few minutes ago because I thought that was what was stopping him sleeping, him screaming the whole while because he doesnt like being unclothed, but then he INSTANTLY soiled the clean nappy. I've not had 90 minutes' unbroken sleep since my labour that left me somewhat in shock, but my husband has just possibly done the best thing ever by sending me to sleep in another bedroom so that he'll sort out the boy and do the 5.15am feed. (I can't face trying to get zach on the breast in the night yet - there's work to be done to get him to take a proper latch at all as he had to have formula at the start to stabilise his blood sugars).

Those of you with kids - please tell me he'll settle and that this gets easier?!

MaMaPo · 02/12/2012 04:19

Can't you just send little Zach back to the workshop to get his 'sleep' switch fixed?

Isn't that how babies work?

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 02/12/2012 04:34

Morning 4amers, I have no advice to offer seconds PFB here too, but hopefully it'll get easier as his tummy gets bigger and he can sleep a little longer. How are your sugars now? Did they go straight back to normal?

I'm up for toast, hunger pangs were keeping me awake. Confused

Secondsop · 02/12/2012 04:34

mamapo yes that's what I need to do. He worked fine in "demonstration mode" but not once I got him home.

Secondsop · 02/12/2012 04:37

willyule my sugars haven't snapped straight back, although they've been ok - probably generally a bit lower. i haven't had anything sweet yet though. However I was told that I'd get a letter for an appointment for another glucose test in 6 weeks time and that I was to eat a normal diet in the interim, not a GD diet, and not to test my sugars. That's not stopping me doing some testing now and again though as I have a week or so worth of strips left.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 02/12/2012 04:49

Yep, there's no way I wouldn't test mine in your position, Smile too nosey. Hope they settle down for you soon. I had a korma tonight and earned myself my highest ever reading (10.2), have had to bin the leftovers to stop me eating them tomorrow!

Bellaboo123 · 02/12/2012 05:04

Congrats ispy and weejo

honey your mil sounds like a right cow...so glad DP is with you on this.

Well I have a baby daughter!

Labour was eventful! I had a curry, slightly hotter than I'd usually have the night before, and then was woken at 1145 feeling a bit crampy. Thought it was the curry but wasn't easing and I kept getting up. By 230 i had an inckling they might be contractions and I woke DP who grumpily suggested I phoned hospital. They didn't seem to concerned and said possibly early stages, try to sleep (!) paracetamol, hot drink and bath. Took paracetamol but kept having to get up as v windy. Cldnt sleep. Sent DP back to sleep as he was useless! Measuring contractions but a bit all over the plan (prob with the wind in hindsight) still wasn't convinced I was in labour though. Had a little gush of water as i got off loo but thought cld be wee tmi! By 530 I was getting tearful as they were getting stronger and woke DP who put me in a bath and complained his tummy hurt from the curry too!!! Angry He looked at my contraction timer history and diagnosed they were all over the place and doubted it was labour!!! Ended up calling hospital again who eventually suggested coming in to 'just be checked out!'

Arrived at hospital after wanting to punch DP ( I do love him really!) was so busy that they couldn't examine me for 40 mins when they did they said I was 9cm dilated. DP lifted his jaw up off the floor lol!

From then on it was gas and air but then they transferred me to labour delivery suite (I was MW lead unit) as LO heartbeat was dropping luckily amazing MWs said with me whole time. Turned out she was back to back! Had 1 small cut to ease delivery but other than that it was great!

DP had a funny turn during delivery as he hadnt eaten or drunk and they made him put his head between his knees lol! Then he stood eating a biscuit standing down 'that end' wile she was crowning!!! Imagine imprinted!!!

Aurelia is gorgeous all her newborn size clothes swamp her though! She has a small tongue tie which they're not overly concerned about. Latched on and we've been bf ok. Decided to stay overnight at MW led unit as they said why not! Just to build my confidence up with feeding etc.

Oh and it's surprising how quickly you forget about the birth!

Thank you all for your well wishes!

strawberry you next?

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 02/12/2012 05:12

Aw how lovely Bella, I can't believe you got to 9cm before going in. Glad to hear you're both doing well. You'll have to send DP out for some tiny baby sizes Smile

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 02/12/2012 05:55

bella Aurelia is an absolutely beautiful name. And your labour sounds really positive. (and you now have ammo against your DH forever! Grin)

Well I slept 11.30-1.40, then got almost straight back and just woke up. I feel so refreshed, it's the longest sleep I've had in months!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 02/12/2012 06:07

Congratulations, Bella and Aurelia Thanks

Honey, sounds like you and dp have the measure of her. Think of it as practice for the toddler years Wink

Seconds, mine did that. I think there's a testing period before the fault gradually sorts itself out. I slept 3 single hours then a bout of over 2 last night, all with R in the crib Shock

Bellaboo123 · 02/12/2012 07:53

stacey I had a good nights sleep the night before I had her...you never know!

spotty I forgot to say good luck today with Felixs second scan fx all clear. Routing for you!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/12/2012 07:55

Wow Bella sounds like a great, if a little shocked, birth!

Today is the day, at six days old, I get to put baby to boob! I've been told he might not do anything but he loves his dummy so fingers crossed! He was rooting a bit yesterday when I was holding him (whilst also looking very fearful of my massive boob!)

Wonder if baby strawb has arrived yet!
