StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 06/12/2012 20:27

ellie my metformin worked straight away although I hadn't been on a reduced sugar diet beforehand so it was probably a combination. When they upped my dose it took 3-4 days for it to kick in. I hope the supervisor of midwives can help. It sounds like your ob is spectacularly badly informed! I've not had anyone mention still birth risks with regards to early induction of labour. They originally didn't want me to go over my due date but they weren't worried about anything at all beforehand!

ellliebelle · 06/12/2012 20:41

I know stacey i really just think she wanted to scare me into her way of thinking and as i was spouting nice guidelines at her she couldnt say early induction was becaue of risk of big baby as that alone isnt reason to induce.
Any way im booked to see her next thurs for scan and stretch and sweep butvreally hoping to go into labour before then so i dont have to see her again :)

cherrypiew3 · 06/12/2012 20:51

Congratulations Eggnog and Walnut

Strawb No long now.

Clarella Good luck for tomorrow.

Elllie Sorry hospital appointment was rubbish.

Stacey Monday will soon come round.

Well have managed to put induction off for now will have to go back for another scan if no baby by this time next week. Had a sweep and am now 2-3cm dilated really hoping something happens over the weekend. 3 different people have asked me today when am I due they were all very shocked when I told them Monday. Starting to feel like some freak now with everyone telling me how small I am. Have even started questioning if there is anyway they have got the dates wrong, stupid I know.

CODwidow · 06/12/2012 21:07

Congrats walnut Grin lovely name

ISpyDingDongMerrilyOnHigh · 06/12/2012 21:22

Ellie - sorry appt didn't go well. Feel quite Angry on your behalf. Hopefully supervisor of mws will be more reasonable and actually have a discussion with you rather than trying to 'process' you in accordance with apparently spurious guidelines.

Strawberry - hang on in there, hopefully not long now.

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 06/12/2012 21:22

Congratulations pru, flumpy, michelle and walnut! Lots of Thanks. Sorry if I've missed anyone - I can't remember all the names because I caught up this morning, wrote a post and then the internet went down before I could post it Xmas Sad

Also good luck Strawberry and Clarella, I'm looking forward to more birth updates!

Grrr at midwife today, I know she was just being realistic but I didn't really want to hear that "it's completely normal to go two weeks overdue" and "your baby seems very happy in there". Can't you just make it come out now?? Friend, how did you persuade the midwife to book you a S+S the day after your due date? I have to wait until I'm 41 weeks. Then again I guess you'd be 41 weeks on Christmas Eve so not ideal timing!

Clarella · 06/12/2012 21:25

Yeay congratulations walnut and eggnog!!!! Loving all the names:) :) :)

Cherry that sounds promising :) I look so small the waitress said she didn't even know I was pregnant let alone over due last night!

Ellie I'm so sorry. I second what honey says.

I'm hiding behind the sobbing sofa to duck pillows ..... despite being really ok with induction labour etc and infact excited about Monday I'd still had this weird tense feeling that just kept refusing to go away no matter how many times I told myself or friends my reasoning about wanting Friday!. A v helpful mw at hospital explained some more stuff to me and blithely said do you want it back to Monday = weird relief so for some reason it seems right even tho I know I'm on for induction then. I now realise that I just can't go back into that hospital in a tense state AGAIN (due to all the anxiety earlier in pregnancy) I don't understand why but do feel excited about Monday and if it happens in the mean time so be it

Sorry I know people are desperate to be bump free :( you've all been so helpful and I know I'm getting induced on Monday so thanks for the positive stories :)

yuletopian99 · 06/12/2012 21:25

Welcome to the world Felix and Analise!

Lots of ache but nothing indicating any meaningful change.
Have just been to meet a potential tenant ,they seem nice and keen to move in asap so if we can get that done and contracts signed before i go into labour I'll be super pleased.

Deeply uncomfortable now though- have been lucky all pregnancy until last week but just recently he has no space left and i feel tired a lot more easily. Good luck those of you 'in process' (sorry for lack of names - on my phone,) and crossing everything for nice smooth induction tomorrow clarella!

yuletopian99 · 06/12/2012 21:28

Oops, cross post! Good luck for Monday clarella!

Clarella · 06/12/2012 21:29

Sorry giraffe Blush

Walnut8 · 06/12/2012 21:30

Strawberry thinking of you, hope its going well ( or already over)! Xx

Thanks v much everyone. A and dh fast asleep and I'm still too wired.

Ellie - absolute rubbish

Cherry - also rubbish. I had it the other way ie people looking shocked as I was so big and that was shit enough. Worse if you are worried about growth :(

2blessed · 06/12/2012 21:44

I take it there's not a module about reading forum rules on your course, kelastrophe Xmas Hmm

FriendofDorothy · 06/12/2012 22:14

Clarella I would happily take induction!

emilyeggs · 06/12/2012 22:17

Grin pidge

MyDaydream · 06/12/2012 22:19

clarella good luck for Monday, or for some baby action over the weekend. Being comfortable with your choice is all that matters really. And everyone's positive labour stories will be the same on Monday too.
Anyone got any fantastic remedies for sore throats? It burns when I drink and not sure what I can have throat sweet wise.

CODwidow · 06/12/2012 22:22

clarella all that matters is that your happy with your decision Smile

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 06/12/2012 22:24

Why are you sorry Clarella?
I think I'd be just as torn over induction as you were - as much as I really want to have the baby, I'm not sure what I'd choose if I were actually offered it right now.

FriendofDorothy · 06/12/2012 22:31

Rudolph - she booked me a sweep because I said I wanted the baby out before Christmas! I seriously don't want to still be pregnant on Christmas Day!

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 06/12/2012 22:35

mydaydream hot orange juice or honey, lemon and glycerin medicine from boots :)

Clarella · 06/12/2012 22:35

I'm sorry friend!

Dh stoically playing his phone games Xmas Hmm I'll have to bake him a cake tomorrow.

Weird how my shoulders just felt better in a few minutes after a massive wail

Myday my default sickness sore throat drinkIs hot ribena (ribeana?) But just acacia honey or boiled sweets can help, manuka honey is mildly naturally antiseptic but pricey. Rice pudding or custard or icecream? If it's that bad tho I'd try and get someone to look at it - I always used to go to walk in centre when a young teacher suffering from repeated random throat things before I perfected the withering stare to say - look, infection or not? As gps hate sore throats, but sometimes it can be a really bad infection (and you don't want quincey!)

Sharp as ever pidj Grin!

Kelas maybe contact your local nct group or find a pregnancy yoga/pilates class.

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 06/12/2012 22:36

Ah, maybe I should have tried harder. She was running late and also I see a different midwife every time as the post is currently vacant, so I couldn't really be bothered engaging. Still, maybe I'll be more 'ready' for a sweep by next week.

Clarella · 06/12/2012 22:37

Think you'd just posted about getting baby out soon giraffe!

RudolphTheRedNosedGiraffe · 06/12/2012 22:39

Oh, that's ok - I won't hold it against you Grin
