Congratulations eggnog and walnut lovely names :)

Hope your doing ok strawb

I had a rubbish time at diabetic clinic again today :( there for almost 3 hours again will 3 year old dd2. Diabetic consultant happybwoth bs levels until i mentioned homebirth then decided i needto go on metformin and slidingscale insulin for labour which i think i shall be refusing he also couldnt explain why insulin drip even though nice guidelines dont recomend for me or why his target levels are below nice guidline ones

Then had to see obs who was a cow as usual tried pressurising me into induction on monday (38 weeks) by sayingbif i dont they will want me in for daily monitoring....

Cried when i came out mainly cause just feel things are not discussed with me i am spoken at rather than too :(

2blessed · 06/12/2012 19:41

Congratulations eggnog and walnut!

emilyeggs · 06/12/2012 19:42

Congratulations walnut. A lovely name, welcome to the world Grin. Looking forward to reading birth stories

emilyeggs · 06/12/2012 19:45

Awww ellie sorry to hear about your shit visit Angry for you. I know what you mean about getting spoken at rather than to and things not discussed Sad

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 06/12/2012 19:50

ellie that's bollocks. Can you get to see your supervisor of midwives? They should be able to help you fight your corner. I've been on metformin for 4weeks, it's been doubled since I started. It's making me sick at least once a day, and they didn't really want to bring my induction forward, but have to Monday when I'll be 39+1. There should be no reason if you've not been on medication and have been able to control your sugars, that you would need inducing at 38 wks! I'm Angry on your behalf!

brooke89 · 06/12/2012 20:00

Congratulations walnut and eggnog EnvyThanks welcome Felix and Annelise

ellliebelle · 06/12/2012 20:08

stacey i have spoken to my midwife today amd shebis arranging for supervisor of midwives to come out and see me at least i know she will discuss risks with me and ill feel i can speak.

The obs just went on amd on about still birth risks but midwife seems to think obs is generalising diabetes and if i had pre existing diabetes this would be an issue but as i dont its not.

stacey did the meformin work instantly?

StrawberrytallCAKE · 06/12/2012 20:12

Congratulations walnut I'm still here, still contracting but much less. They are goin to try and break waters and put me on drip if that doesn't work. Tired!

MyDaydream · 06/12/2012 20:15

ellie sorry to hear you've had such a rubbish time today.
I'm stressed. I asked DP to make me some hoops on toast and put the bins out. He put the wrong bin to the road, didn't put most of the boxes out and I came back inside to the now smoke filled kitchen because he'd not noticed the toast burning. So I left the room. He's now presented me with more burnt toast, but less burnt than the last lot so it passed. I just wanted hoops on toast and to not have to go outside.

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 06/12/2012 20:26

Congratulations Eggnog and Walnut Xmas Smile

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 06/12/2012 20:27

oh *ellie that sucks. Glad you'vve got supervisor of midives coming to talk to you. I do find that threatening to have a home birth whatever happens (i.e not heading to hospital when in labour) tends to make arsey arrogant consltants listen. Also if you're under all the NICE guideline levels then contacts PALS? or threaten to follow official complaints procedure if you're not listened to and thry try to force you. You don't have to do it bt once they realise that you know your rights and are willing to complain they tend to listen more. Sorry i know it's hard work but play them at their own manipulative game
