Busy bee here, but wanted to pop in & say Happy New Year to all the lovely Marchers! Can't believe what we all have in store Grin hope you all ave a great evening xx

tedmundo · 31/12/2012 16:54

Hello everyone, I am sorry I gave up posting I just could never keep up! I do try to lurk every now and again and reassure myself that you are all doing/feeling the same kind of things as me (sleepless nights and stuffy noses anyone?!).

Anyway, just wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 2013 is going to be an interesting one!

Em2010 · 31/12/2012 21:49

Evening All! Welcome to some new names! sorry I haven't posted for ages! Been so busy with Christmas, holidays, weddings etc! Have a party next Saturday night and then I am going to hunker down for the rest of winter and become a recluse! over did it yesterday, had a bad nights sleep last night and have spent the whole day lying around feeling very sick and sorry for myself.

Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy new year! My resolution is to learn to use a power drill - there will be no stopping me then!!!

eigmum · 31/12/2012 22:17

Hope you are all having a good new year! My husband and mother in law have gone of night sleighing to see in the new year. Leaving me ad a fast asleep 3 year old! At least the flat is quiet. My first new year alone though, I suppose the sleep will do me good! At least I don't have to listen to the mother in law for another hour. Should never have suggested coming to Switzerland.

mandasand · 01/01/2013 07:17

Happy New Year, lovely Marchers!

It's going to be an exciting one, for sure!
Smile

SoYo · 01/01/2013 10:50

Happy New Year everyone! Anyone else have a sense of mild panic that in your head you've been saying "I'm having a baby next year" and suddenly it's not next year anymore!

Went to a friends birthday party last night but made swift exit shortly after midnight to get home with DH, walk & play with puppy-monster and generally enjoy being 'just us' for an hour before collapsing in bed....think I'm getting old!

Finishing work 4 weeks on Friday! Excited! When is anyone else finishing? X

Rainbowbabyhope · 01/01/2013 11:40

Happy new year to everyone! Personally very glad to see the back of 2012 and hoping that 2013 brings some happiness to balance out the grief. Hope everyone has a lovely new years day and is feeling well.

leniwhite · 01/01/2013 13:06

HNY everyone! One last day off before it's back to 6am commute to Canary Wharf... Not sure of firm plans but hoping to work from home maybe one day a week now and then every day for the last month from end of Feb. Don't fancy having my waters break on the tube!

Anyone else got a bump support belt? I got a great one from Amazon - by CPI Medical. Looks pretty orthopaedic but really helps hold fatty up if I'm on my feet a long time. It's really strong elastic with a soft velcro fixed band under the bump and a small one over the top, and rigid lower back supports to take the pressure off.

Bit worried that I won't get any sleep tonight as I went to bed late and still couldn't sleep! Then slept late. DP came home from work at 6am stinking of gin (they're allowed a tipple on NYE) which makes me want to heave!

leniwhite · 01/01/2013 13:12

Forgot to ask - has anyone eaten cold pepperoni pizza? I know the nhs says we don't need to worry about cold meats in the UK, but I'd still like your opinions. Got some from last night in the fridge and not sure if it's got to be heated again or not, it's better cold!

Oodhousekeeping · 01/01/2013 14:19

I don't eat pepperoni but I wouldn't worry about eating it as long as its been looked after properly.

JoJoBella84 · 01/01/2013 15:42

leni I've avoided pepperoni as it's a cured meat and I thought they were a pregnancy no no... I've had some massive cravings for the stuff though :(
Just found a website that says as long as it's cooked you can have it though (wish I'd seen this months ago!!) uncooked carries a risk of toxoplasmosis and listeria.
Hope this is helpful xxx

sundaesundae · 01/01/2013 16:11

I am sure I have eaten lots of cured meat... haven't thought about it. Oops.

Happy New Year!

Feeling very overwhelmed.

GummiberryJuice · 01/01/2013 18:32

Don't think anychance of me catching up with this thread but Happy New Year and roll on Feb/March

backwardpossom · 01/01/2013 18:40

Happy new year, Marchers. Home straight now!

theTramp · 01/01/2013 19:20

Happy New Year one & all.

LaurenCaddy · 01/01/2013 20:32

Hello Ladies!

So sorry for long absence, i have had the lovely joy of spending Christmas at my OH's family whom don't have internet :(

So i hope everyone had a lovely crimbo and a very happy new year and celebrations!

As for us, my 4D Scan was cancelled thanks to my OHs Mum. Not gonna go into it, still seething and rather upset about it.

Had a scare with not feeling my little one for a good day. But all is well now. Worst experience ever! Especially since i couldn't get online to ask some of the experienced Mummies on here.

Got my whooping cough jab on Thursday. I hate needles :(

Finished my little girls room, candy cane pink with hand drawn disney characters. All that's missing is her cot, then we are ready if she makes a surprise appearance.

Also starting Raspberry Leaf Tea next week as i hit my 30 week marker. Aiming to do 1 cup a tea til 32, then upping it to 2, then at 34 to 3 and a 4 if i need to. Also go some Perineal Gel (sorry for awful spelling) as well ready to start applying in a few weeks. Anyone had any dealing with these? So many mixed reviews online.

Will try and read and catch up now!

Best wishes

Lauren
& Isabelle-Bump

LexiandBeanette · 01/01/2013 22:17

sundae I was feeling very overwhelmed last week and not as excited as people seemed to think I should be, just a bit frightened!
Feeling a bit better this week as have borrowed, bought or ordered nearly everything for the Bean to come home to; still need a moses basket mattress as friend is lending us a basket, but I need to check the size, and we can't get any nursery furniture until May time, but at least next week I should be able to pack my hospital bag! :)

mandasand · 01/01/2013 23:13

Yay, today went to Ikea and got a tall Stuva wardrobe with cupboard at the top for the nursery today. It's just right - am so excited! We liked how sturdy the doors were and how versatile it is inside: we got six wire drawers for the wardrobe bit, plus the hanger rail for later. We'll re-use the drawers in the cupboard up top or in a second unit later.

Very almost finished painting the nursery! We both went a bit bonkers getting it utterly perfect - DH with sanding and me with painting so took a bit longer than it should. Tiny bit of tidying up to do near edges of ceiling, but now, finally, we're at the stage of being able to assemble furniture - woop! I really want to start going through the bags and bags of clothes we've been given, sorting them into sizes etc.

I've (probably) only got SIX weeks left before I'm a mummy! Can't get my head around it yet. Got to confirm dates with consultant on 9th but everyone has said they won't let twins go beyond 37wks.

Leni not exactly the same but yesterday I had half a packet of 'fresh' pasta which had been open a week, plus the scrapings from the bottom of a jar of pesto that I later saw had a bit of mould on the top (I usually eat a LOT better than this but was hungry and desperate!!) and I've been worried ever since about the cheese in the pasta as it was a bit dry and bleurgh even after cooking ?

Technically on holiday all this week but spent almost a full day writing a piece for the work blog yesterday (wanted to get one last one in before the end of the year!) and am spending the next three days working on proofs of the last but one book I sent to press. It's a different topic from the one I'm paid to research, so it's appropriate I do it in non-project time, but still, it's definitely work!

Will be sorry to see DH go back to work tomorrow as it's been so nice having him home for so long.

pudtat · 02/01/2013 07:24

Well, back to reality for me today. 10 weeks before I finish work and just under 12 before EDD (assuming all goes to plan under either scenario Smile). Bit worried, as has to be said the chap who will be covering my clients while I am off doesn't appear to have done the greatest job while 'practicing' over the xmas break so... [hmmm]. Still, it's only 6 months. Hopefully they will just be glad to see me back Grin and won't all leave during that time!

Have really enjoyed having a proper break over xmas, have actually relaxed for first time in ages (and possibly the last in years!). Think being able to start shopping for LO has actually helped with that - I am a complete control freak and organiser/planner type so having such a big event on the horizon and not having done any prep for it felt very odd! Builders due to start next week to do some unsexy but necessary work on house, and after that we can set to on the nursery properly - exciting.

Had a rubbish night's sleep last night though. Think I was a bit hot, but dreams which were less than restful and snoring that drove DH to spare room Blush. Even with my DreamGenii I am so congested and achy in the mornings, it's unreal. Still, really mustn't grumble as am doing pretty well really.

Good luck for the final leg of this strange journey to all of you Smile.

dameflamingo · 02/01/2013 09:43

hello and a happy new year to all of your lovely happy marchers. Busy year ahead?

manda I wore one of my 60's style tunics that I wear for work, black tights and snazzy ballet pumps to that wedding - felt utterly underdressed next to the guys in tails but then saw another pregnant lady (39 weeks people!) who joined me and said ' can we stick together?' she was wearing a cord skirt, furry boots and a t-shirt... they didn't match so comparatively speaking I was sartorial elegance itself!! Had to take my hat off to her for making it to a wedding 5 days before her due date... and carting three tiny children with her too. Had a loevely time, they had a swing band so even made it up onto the dance floor with MrFlamingo for a little swaying!

pushchairs MrF is enamoured with the uppababy that tramp has chosen. I quite like it but need to have a test drive first. We're totally not ready - no shopping trips here yet. in fact our lodger who said he"d move before the baby arrives is still with us so nursery is currently man room! our roof is only half finished so interior work cannot be started and 9 weeks to go! any advice for speedy stress free way of rectifying problems of the world gratefully received!

Em2010 · 02/01/2013 11:30

dame bet you looked lovely!

manda exciting news about the wardrobe!

Trying to keep it short as my phone battery is about to go! Went to a wedding a couple of days ago down south. Was a great day but extremely exhausting! On the subject of food- guests were served crab starter and duck main. I slunk off and asked dh cousin who is a midwife if I could eat the duck as it was pink and she said 'yes fine, it's really too late to worry about food now, it's the early months you need to worry about' though she did go on to warn me not to eat the cold crab, (which I don't really like anyway so was no hardship!) so, like a responsible mother I fed it to my two year old who loved it! Food rules are very confusing but I have eaten a lot of pepperoni pizza in both pregnancies- should come with a heartburn warning though!

Supposed to be tidying the house this morning whilst ds is at nursery so better go! Just 3 weeks to go till maternity leave for me! Can't wait - haven't sorted anything for poor baby yet! x

pinkpeony4 · 02/01/2013 13:21

Place marking because I haven't been able to look on here over the festive period. Hope all is well

StormyBrid · 02/01/2013 13:29

We're not meant to eat pepperoni? Well, bugger. How about salami, is that off the menu too? I've been eating a ton of it.

Still no progress putting baby's room together here. That room's currently full of bags of clothes that don't fit at the moment, and boxes of books. Neither of which I can sort out until we get another chest of drawers and three more bookcases. Hoping my dad's car will be back from the garage sometime this week (something technical involving a fuel pump happened to it two days before Christmas) so he can take me round the second hand furniture shops. And then when all that's sorted we can get the baby furniture from my sister that's currently in my dad's spare room. And then panic about the fact that there's going to be a real live baby in there in nine weeks.

Baby was very quiet all day on New Year's Eve. Was starting to think I'd end up seeing in the new year in Hull Royal getting checked out. But no, she was just gearing up for the party of the century in there. I think someone must have bought her some spurs for Christmas, because these kicks are starting to get painful.

StealthToddler · 02/01/2013 13:43

Hi Ladies and belated Happy New Year!
Haven't been posting much as have had 10 days off so unlike when I am at work (like now Grin ) I don't get much chance to catch up and post!

Sounds like lots of lovely NYE's were had. We were very quiet - too expensive to get a babysitter and go out on the 31st, so we just watched a movie and I enjoyed a half glass of champagne. Have been much more relaxed on the whole food thing this pregnancy as 4th time round I have decided that as long as it is sourced well and stored will I am probably ok with a little bit of blue cheese which is the only "banned" food I really like. Must admit to being able to get through a whole pot of Creme de St Agur in one sitting!

Titch seems to be getting stronger and I have definitely "bloomed" so fingers crossed at my next scan on monday he will have edged up the percentiles again.

Impressed with those of you preparing nurseries. Though I suppose the only thing I have to get is a new mattress for the moses basket (but I intend on co-sleeping mostly again) and just have to open up the storage bags to get baby boy no.4's clothes out - though I am itching to buy a couple of new things, but it does feel like a waste given this is likely my last baby. Will just clear some shelves in our room for his things, and when he is nearer a year he will go in with DS3 who I am sure will be very happy to have some company!

After this week I am attempting to work another 8 weeks to 38 weeks - I work in an office so it is only the central line commute which is killing me. And I plan on working from home one day a week to make things easier.

Any others expecting #2/3/4 who are in that strange "mourning" period for their littlest one about to "stop" being a baby? I have realised I am really babying my littlest one who is 21 months old, and taking him into my bed for lunchtime naps when I can etc, and just enjoying being able to give him some extra time before the new baby comes. I remember doing this before DS2 and DS3 as well!

Anyone else got 30 week scans coming up?

Oodhousekeeping · 02/01/2013 13:56

Yes, yes, yes on your post stealth I feel a bit of an odd one out on here as we aren't prepping a nursery ( dd3 is only just moving out of our room), baby will similarly have new mattress/co-sleep for a year or 2 then we will all change rooms for dd3/dc4 to share.
Clothes will be mainly dd3s unless dc4 is a DS in which case he will have some new stuff & the old neutral stuff. She does feel like a little girl but hate the thought of leaving her for hospital stay and her not being the youngest (though was like that with dd2& she was9!)
No scan here though :(
