Hi. Had a good day. Still feel preg but still getting the watery stuff off and on. Docs tomorrow. Got quite bad bloating too. Ooo, it's like a flippin rollercoaster!! Smile

huffpuff75 · 05/12/2012 21:47

Hi everyone. Giggling about DH and paparazzi. He went through a phase of rfusing to let me take pics of him in case I posted them on some sort of lookylikey site.

I too have stinking cold which I have had for weeks and can't seem to get rid of. Am even MNing in bed as feel so rubbish.

Having total panic attacks that I am not cut out for two of the little creatures darlings after DS really led me a merry dance today. We were stuck in the house because it snowed and I couldn't face sliding my way down our hill with this cold to deal with. The day of strops culminated in him having a screaming fit when having his tea with a mouthful of food, and me having to wrestle him out of the high chair and thump him to dislodge the food. Not a happy teatime.

LittleMissSnowShine · 05/12/2012 22:31

huff - think that about my DS too, wee angel one minute, toddler tantrum terror the next, daunting to think about that plus a newborn. But he'll be 3 at the end of Aug so hopefully / maybe out of the terrible twos!!

Evening bloat is ridiculous - got dressed at 7am, clothes looked grand. Had to go to an awards thing after work this evening and by 9 trousers were feeling tight, tummy v round and even shirt looks like its straining over boobs when it closed no probs this morning. Should be bit deflated again by morning tho!! after night sweats and freaky dreams

LittleMissSnowShine · 05/12/2012 22:34

Gary - great news re digi test, might do one next week and hopefully get same result as u!

DaveMccave · 06/12/2012 07:51

Good morning,

Have a few questions to put to you all today. How much caffeine are you having? I'm ashamed to say it's something I didn't give a lot of thought to in my last pregnancy (6 years a go). Do you think one cup of real tea/coffee in the morning is ok, and then green for the rest? I had a lot of peppermint for nausea last time but that hasn't started yet. Any other recommendations?

Secondly, I just did my 6th Blush test, with fmu. The line doesn't seem any darker than yesterday, still really faint. Is this normal? I'm only 13 days past the day I think I conceived, (but that's not 100%) and my tests are the very sensitive ebay cheapies, I suppose it could be even less since ovulating...so I'm potentially only about 11 dpo.

It's very strange to be so early and not have any symptoms, I was violently sick right from 4 weeks last time and currently, not anything.

Christelle2207 · 06/12/2012 08:27

dave up to two coffees is fine or three/ four teas. i have to have a coffee first thing then try to limit- have discovered decaff tea which tastes like the real thing- even dh is now converted!

ive done about 8 tests now, they get darker every 2 or so days but only ever so slightly. its not an exact science- remember the test sees how much hcg in your urine NOT how much hcg your body is producing.
x

DaveMccave · 06/12/2012 09:21

Thanks Christelle, great to hear I can have an extra coffee or couple of teas later, ones just not enough!

About the decaff tea and coffee- You probably already know, but there are three different methods of decaffeination, the most popular method uses methylene chloride, which of course has been approved by the fda so most people don't mind using it but I'd rather not in pregnancy I think. Might be worth checking which ones use which. None of them remove all of the caffeine either. I believe rooiboos is completely caffeine free although I've never got round to trying it.

Good to hear about the hcg, thanks.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 06/12/2012 09:27

Welcome Dave, I'm having only caffeine free stuff atm, only because I don't want to blame something stupid I've done if I have a mc again.
One cup of tea/coffee is fine, the only things I've noticed about it is apparently coffee shop stuff is stronger than the freeze dried granules so you're not supposed to have less of them.

Apparently the hcg in your body doubles roughly every 48hours so you're better off testing every other day, if you're only 11dpo it won't be massively dark for most people, should be really dark from about 16dpo...peeonastick has many (too many!) images of different brand tests at different days.

Christelle, please share the good decaff tea you drink? I've only found PG Tips decaff to be drinkable!

Huff, hope DS is better for you today!

I'm normally a size 8 and yesterday I had to bring out the size 12 trousers, bring on the bloating! Told the PIL yesterday because the 3+ had us feeling positive.

Hope everyone has a great, non-snowed in day!
Any exciting plans for the weekend?

DaveMccave · 06/12/2012 09:51

I'm a fan of peeonastick Gary! That's how i know my very faint lines are indeed positives. The creater of the site is OBSESSED though, quite hilarious but very useful.

We don't have snow here (north west). I'm supposed to be going to a punk gig in Manchester tomorrow. Friends who have moved away are meeting us there and have specially booked a coach so we can get very drunk. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do about this yet, either cry it off or fake drink I think. Still haven't told the boyfriend the news so it's hard to decide.

Then Saturday I have a rare day off work so will be taking my DD to Chester zoo. So it's for the best I won't be drinking really.

What about you?

BraveLilBear · 06/12/2012 09:53

I'm sticking with one filter/coffee shop coffee a day (usually a small or half cup in the morning, when I can face it) then decaff or water/hot water the rest of the day.

I tried cutting it out but got headaches, so figured it wouldn't hurt to stick with just the one to prevent that.

Exciting times GaryB you told in-laws! Congratulations Xmas Grin how did they react?

Have decided we will tell my immediate family at Christmas - I'm going to get them all aunt/uncle/gran/grandad books but will 'properly' tell my parents on Christmas Eve. It's the first next generation child in the entire family (providing sister isn't secretly pg too) so want to make it special. DP's family have lots of next gen kids, including one to DP so won't be as big a deal to them (tho I think they'll still be excited for us).

Hello and welcome Dave... Like PP said, give it a few days then test again.

Nice to see so many people adopting the multiple POAS fascination - I did three. Just three. And my DP was like 'why do you feel the need to keep weeing on things?' Which I found rather amusing. If only he knew!

blondecat · 06/12/2012 11:38

Hello

Checking in again after two lost ones. Hmm
Had a positive test last Thursday morning and again Friday on day 30
Grin
Now onto 37 days and so far so good. I am keeping fingers and toes crossed all will go well at the obgyn appointment next Friday - 8 more days till I get to see if the bean is doing well.

Mummy to Marie age 2

zippyrainbowbrite · 06/12/2012 11:54

Welcome Dave and Blonde!

Gary I usually drink the Clipper organic decaf tea and coffee - it is expensive compared to something like pg tips, but I like the taste and I'd rather have something that I know doesn't have chemicals. I only drink decaf anyway (caffine makes me go a bit hyper and then I just faint! Blush ), so I usually just stock up when it's on offer.

I have an action packed weekend - I didn't think we'd actually start IVF until after Xmas, so took on a temporary Xmas retail job to keep me busy! I work 40 hours mon-fri, but it's an office job where I'm just sat on my butt all day mumsnetting and looking at baby stuff answering the phone. I used to work in retail, and love the atmospere at Xmas, so it will be fun, but I'm feeling sooo tired I don't know how I'll cope! Fortunately, they've cut my hours down from what I was originally planned in for, so it's only 3 saturdays to do now.

Sunday is DH's birthday, so we're going out for the day with friends - perfect excuse for me not to drink as I'll drive so he can have a few! Grin

zippyrainbowbrite · 06/12/2012 11:59

Also, at some point over the weekend I have to buy a new bra - all of my underwire ones are digging in, and the couple of non-underwired ones are a bit ahem flimsey!

What I really need is a completely unflattering granny bra - poor DH will be distraught as last month he bought me a load of lovely new Victorias Secret underwear to cheer me up, which is now sat abandoned!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 06/12/2012 12:05

zippy, haven't tried Clipper!
I have Twinings English Breakfast & Everyday..both the decaff versions taste rank, I may have to send DH out to buy some.
Glad your hours are cut (although less money sucks), 1st trimester tiredness is the worst.
Ahhh, 9 months of designated driver-ing, early happy birthday to Mr.Zippy!

Welcome blondecat!

Bear, MIL asked if 'we meant to get pg again so quickly?', have sworn her to secrecy (she told the world about my MC) & if she doesn't keep it a secret I'll be pissed.
Just three tests?

Dave (hurrah for another pg bloke btw!), will your boyfriend twig you're pg if you don't drink?
Enjoy the gig & the zoo!

LittleMissSnowShine · 06/12/2012 12:41

No snow in belfast either but its frickin freezin (mr bigglesworth) and im off work snd at home with DS so crankin heating and trying to entertain him.at home this morn! May wrap up under a.million layers and brave park later

dave - enjoy zoo! Im going on 20th with sil & ds, get to visit santa and see.moneys unwrapping presents, shd be great!! Im having one tea or coffee a day, drinking Lipton Moroccan tea or apple&cinnamon rest.of the time

zippy - was just thinking about new bras this mornung. Hate lack of underwire cos i have fairly big boobs and they dont look great without a bit of support but i figure i can still do underwiring for nights out etc and proper comfy ones for work&hanging out at home!!

gary / brave - i got my v unexpected bfp on 23rd dec in 09 and we ended up spilling the beans on xmas day so i kind of want to do that again. After mmc in summer tho im a bit more wary this time, dont want to get ppl excited tilafter booking scan but if bad sickness kicks in im sure i.wont be able to.keep it a secret anyway!!

Hormones ALL OVER place today. Normally get on great with mil but she jas thrown.an.ill timed spanner in works re our xmas plans this year and normally i'd be mildly frustrated but still just try and work out a conpromise solution with DH but flew off handle this morning...so cross and then weepy. Geel like a teenager, hormones dictating all emotional reactions lol best be v careful and diplomatic in work and with family over next few weeks or im.liable to start ww3!!

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/12/2012 12:56

I totally failed to give up caffeine in my last pregnancy, but I'm completely caffeine-free now. Fortunately I hate tea & coffee, but I was addicted to Pepsi max & I know that if I had even one glass I'd be back on litres of the stuff a day.

Nightwish · 06/12/2012 13:18

Can I get the medal for the least poas?
I only did 1!

I am on my second cup of tea today, I don't think I would manage in this cold weather without it.

shellshock7 · 06/12/2012 13:41

Hey everyone Smile

I dont drink coffee, so just the odd cuppa for me, must be alright surely!

Bit crampy again today Sad I don't like it wish it would stop, I'd take throwing up over this anyday!

DaveMccave · 06/12/2012 14:10

Gary Oh absolutely he'd suss, I wasn't planning on not telling him, (in fact I'm telling him this evening) but my friends would def twig! I might suggest the boyfriend drives and we give our coach tickets away, and say I'm not drinking in solidarity? It's that or fake drinking, anti-b's wouldn't cut it, they know I'd drink anyway! I've been planning a name change for a while too, Dave can be quite unnerving!

snowshine are you going to Chester too? I think they have lanterns in the gardens for christmas too which should be nice. They had an ice rink last year. I will more than likely go in the holidays too as we have membership and I never get to fit it in during term time so we have to make the most of it. I've just got the quarterly magazine and they have had a baby boom, elephant, giraffe, orangutan, okapi and a few others :)

shellshock I'm a bit crampy today too, very dull and not painful but def aware of it. It's so strange having no other symptoms, I must have found out later last time.

eggflipped It was diet coke for me in my last pregnancy. That and creme eggs. I was completely nutritionally unaware at that stage of my life and I'm quite guilty about it now. It'll be hard to turn it down but I won't be drinking it. It's more the sweeteners I'm worried about tbh.

nightwish you are restrained! So, I just did my second test of the day, 7 I think in total now. Nipped out and bought some Boots digitals and it has (strangely to my surprise) come up PREGNANT. Much better to show that to the boyfriend than get him to scrutinize the faint cheapies. It all feels real now though.

BraveLilBear · 06/12/2012 14:43

Exciting times for all those heading to zoos and gigs! I have a monster day Saturday with three parties back-to-back (one for a one-year-old so should manage that one fine without anyone sussing the not drinking).

DPs works Xmas do is in a casino so may mocktail it - no-one knows me anyway so wouldn't be as hard. After that tho will be the real test - meeting DPs friendship group for Xmas/birthday drinks. They drink a lot. Worst thing is, last time I saw them was for a Halloween party and I wasn't drinking then either (driving and didn't fancy it after mc) so may have to mocktail it again and make sure DP/I buy all my drinks.

Nightwish I hereby hand you the medal of restraint! That's impressive! I would ahve stuck with one but wanted to digi date it to monitor HCG. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

Gary Xmas Shock that's a bit blunt! I pray she keeps her mouth shut this time... for her sake Xmas Wink

Weather report... bit of snow in East Yorkshire, not enough to initiate snow closures though. Freexing cold, mind!

RuckAndRoll · 06/12/2012 14:44

Hi all,

Can I come and join you all here? You all seem so experienced and further on than me!

I only got my BFP this morning and got it confirmed by the GP later this morning (had to go ASAP to reduce and change my medication). Currently 4 weeks, was expecting AF to show up yesterday, and now all this Grin due 15th August according to the doctor but if it's anything like its dad it'll turn up late when it feels like it saying 'oh sorry were you all waiting for me or something?!'

DaveMccave · 06/12/2012 15:04

Hi ruckandroll Congrats! My EDD is the 16th august, (going by most probably night of conception, as I hadn't had periods for over a year, so could be even later!) I feel like that too, so crazy to know so early isn't it?

RuckAndRoll · 06/12/2012 15:48

I got all excited when the doc gave me the phone number to get my booking in app and first scan, I then realised the scan won't be until the start of Feb which is ages away.

Not the best of timing for us, DH is on a fixed term contact that finished on 31st August, fingers crossed they extend it otherwise he'll be starting a new job with a very little baby at home.

Sugarkane · 06/12/2012 19:01

zippy you need some hot milk bras, pretty and very comfy, lived in them for nearly 5 years now (different ones ovbiously)

Sugarkane · 06/12/2012 19:01

obviously*
