RuckAndRoll · 02/01/2013 21:22

mayan I've had to tell work. I work in a potentially dangerous environment so now can't access half the places I used to.
I'm feeling so guilty I'm totally off sex, infact any contact with dh at the moment. most blokes can garentee sex on Christmas and birthdays, but not mine!

wavesandsmiles · 02/01/2013 21:29

I'm in Scotland at the moment, but only on holiday....as I live in Guernsey I actually live about as far away from Scotland as you can possibly be whilst still being in Great Britain!

I haven't told work yet, but will do after my scan if I can pluck up the courage. Lined up for some big projects this year so not sure that the news will be taken too well Sad

PurpleDana · 02/01/2013 22:16

Hi, just checking back in. Been really ill, ended up in hospital on a drip yesterday and diagnosed with hyperemisis gravidarium. Also got some anti-sickness tablets. feel kuch better now. Also had some bleeding Sunday so had an early scan today, all is fine :-)

Briarrosy · 02/01/2013 22:16

So when's everyone having their scans then? Am presuming as this is the August thread the first ones will be mid-Jan? I'm on 17th, as early as poss at 11+4 (let's hope I got my dates right!).

Briarrosy · 02/01/2013 22:17

Ps I hope this doesn't mean all the maternity units in Scotland will be rammed in august...!

Briarrosy · 02/01/2013 22:19

Pps sorry to hear that purpledana, sound line you've had a helluva week but glad to hear alls good on the scan!

Ditsy79 · 02/01/2013 22:29

Briarrosy - my scan is on 18th Jan, when I will be 11+6. Had my booking appointment today, all starting to feel a bit more real now.
Purpledana - hope you're feeling better soon

chocolatesolveseverything · 02/01/2013 22:57

Just a quick post to 'out' myself as another Scot. My word, the Simpson unit looks like it's gonnae be Mumsnet Central come August! Smile

JollyOldChristmas · 02/01/2013 23:05

I'm in NE Scotland.

When I spoke to the midwife she said there is an August 2013 baby boom in our village. Booking in on Friday, yay!

Sugarkane · 03/01/2013 00:15

My scan is this Friday, although I am in Scotland im not Scottish. Everyone i know seems to be pregnant, 3 of my dads daughters are pregnant, although I haven't told him I am yet.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/01/2013 00:45

I'm not in Scotland either.

Hi Brie, didn't realise you were on here, I asked about you in the ttc after mc thread last week. How's it going? I'm ok, no bleeding at all which is fantastic, suffering with nausea, constipation, tender boobs and sleeplessness despite being very tired. But glad of the symptoms as it's reassuring y'know? Must make a doctors appointment tomorrow to get booked in, or my much awaited scan will never happen!

Milk is making me extremely nauseous, that's a strange one, milk is so good for pg women! Confused

MrsWajs · 03/01/2013 01:41

I'm NE Scotland too :) sounds like there are a lot of you in the edinburgh area!

bzzbee · 03/01/2013 04:59

Well that didn't last long...symptoms back with a vengeance lol.
Have just been up to eat a bowl of dry ish cereal to try and avert that empty/sick feeling, awake since 3am trying to ignore it ;-)

Am very relieved though so not complaining too much.
Night everyone.

Mayanbob · 03/01/2013 08:10

Thanks foof and ruck will tell work today then... Aggghhhhh!
Thanks also for easing my mind re: worrying -it's not just me!

Rucknroll - when my DH got into bed last night he touched a boob... I could have punched him. I didn't though! So sex is off the cards here as well. Yay hormones!

Hi to all Those just joining! Am jealous of those who know scan dates!

Off to work I go xxx

Mrsd77 · 03/01/2013 08:41

I'm not in Scotland either.

Booking in with midwife today. Feel a bit funny about it after doing same last April pre molar detection. I almost feel embarrassed. I know that's letting the side down! She was lovely last time I met her though so hopefully it'll be fine.

I survived staying at friends without needing my sick bucket! Was pleased to be home though to be able to go to a loo without making polite apologies. We told them and they were quite subdued. No doubt just being guarded coz of my history. Also saw another good friend with her LO who was born at the same time of my EDD for the mole. She knows nothing as I didn't want her to have to tread on eggshells. She announced her preg the day of my ERPC. Hard! I was ok yesterday though and they are doing well. I was worried I might be a bit upset but all was ok. .

AR34 · 03/01/2013 08:59

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and thought I would say hello.
I confirmed on Friday last week that I'm pregnant, visited the GP and my due date is the 31st August.
I'm a little nervous as everyone I know in the UK is childless, so I feel like a fish out of water!
The next step for me is working out my next steps (these forums are very helpful) and chosing a hospital out of the small list my GP gave me. So I'm spending a lot of time researching at the moment. Very grateful that there are groups like this.
Congratulations to everyone.
Cheers.

Lucy411 · 03/01/2013 10:04

Hi everyone,
Anybody thinking they are ever so slightly showing?
It's my second and pretty sure there is a small bump bit didn't show at all until 25 weeks last time... It's that or too much chocolate :)

Lucy411 · 03/01/2013 10:04

But*

CarriePie · 03/01/2013 10:13

Morning all
I appear to be completely symptomless now - other than slight nausea for a few days all I had was super sore boobs now even they feel okay. I lay awake last night working myself up with worry. Still, I'm just going to have to wait till Sunday to find out if all is okay. I hope it's just me being over sensitive and not woman's intuition...
I had to chase my hospital for a scan date yesterday and they said I should know by next week. I'm already 8+4 and havent even booked in yet so they are a bit slow.
Just feel like I want to get to my early scan on Sunday to see a heart beat and a bit of reassurance. Xx

MrsPennyapple · 03/01/2013 10:17

Hi gang, I've not been on the thread much as I'm pretty much symptomless, just thought I'd stop by to say hello. I'm 8+4 now, and have to get up to go to the loo most nights now.

I'm not in Scotland either - Isle of Man here, bet no one else is? At this rate I'll have the maternity unit to myself!

Chuckaluck · 03/01/2013 12:13

Hi all, I am in Gloucestershire. Must be something in the water in Scotland!

Had my booking in appt yesterday which was quite underwhelming! Just lots of paperwork and forms to tick! Midwife was lovely but all done in 35 mins. Not sure what I was expecting!

TotallyEggFlipped · 03/01/2013 13:18

Lucy411 I definitely have a bit of a belly. (I call it my poo baby, because I think it's due to the constipation). I remember last time at the beginning my mum kept looking at my belly & saying "are you sure you're only X weeks?" but then it went away again and I had a small bump for the rest of the pregnancy. I'm hiding in baggy jumpers at the moment to try and look less pregnant.

FoofFighter · 03/01/2013 15:01

Lucy - most certainly it'll be xmas excess, constipation, water retention/bloating and NOT baby, sorry!

Silver15 · 03/01/2013 16:20

Hello ladies,

I'm definitely showing. I have even bought some maternity wear as I could bear my bump being so obvious when I return to work. All my clothes are tight now. My manager will be very disappointed as he purposely stopped me from completing some training this year as it inv

Sorry presses the wrong button.

Anyway I was saying that my manager is going to be very disappointed come Monday when I return to work with a bump as he stopped me from completing training this year. The training required me to be away from my post for 4-6 months and at the time his reasoning was that I was the strongest in the team and he could not afford to lose me at that time. He however promised his recommendation for 2014. It will now mean coming from maternity leave at 7 months straight into training. Not good news at all as I will be away for over a year but it will be hard for him to justify why not as it is part of my professional development and a requirement for any career progression also included in the contract.
