Chuckaluck · 07/12/2012 19:06

Hi Belissima, when did u first see your midwife to get your letter today then? I have made the appt with the midwife on 17 Dec, sort of assumed that was the booking in appt???

BelissimaLol · 07/12/2012 19:09

I went to the gp on Monday and was sent for scan then. Doc said she would do the mw referral and I got letter today. I've no idea how this works!

Chuckaluck · 07/12/2012 19:35

Me neither. It's so confusing! I went to docs on Monday abs he just said he could do nothing and I had to see midwife!

TotallyEggFlipped · 07/12/2012 20:03

Hi everyone!
I had to POAS again this morning because I wasn't feeling sick. (but the stick expires next year, so if all goes well there's no point saving it, and it was just a pound shop one anyway).
I'm having a scan on Monday, so hopefully everything will be ok and I'll get some idea of how up duffed I am. Once I know I'll add myself to the stats.

RuckAndRoll · 07/12/2012 20:07

All this talk of seeing midwives and scans, going to be ages until mine. I was told by the GP to phone for a booking in appointment and scan appointment, first at 8-10weeks and scan 12-14 weeks. At this rate, neither will be until after the holidays.

The nausea has really kicked in this evening -joy.

Christelle2207 · 07/12/2012 20:10

Well I survived the work christmas do- started at 1 and I left at half seven. Turns out whole officr has been convinced that im pg for ages- they actually confronted me head on (in a nice way) because the not drinking was the icing on the suspicions cake. Anyway I said a flat NO then said the truth is I'd like to be, but have been trying for ages (true). That shut them up and brought sympathetic looks. Didnt want to lie but was forced to, my own mother doesnt know yet. Anyway I had no more stick after that. Xmas Smile

Sugarkane · 08/12/2012 00:06

No plans for the weekend as yet, may have to visit the in laws and have 4 Christmas presents to get so hopefully that will be sorted. Such an exciting life I lead

I show early, have never got to 12 weeks without people knowing by looking at me, and I am far from a stick, I also show more and my babies get bigger with each pregnancy.

My boobs where massive anyway as I am still bf, but now the are huge, more new bras are needed.

Christelle good handling of the situation, why do people ask? I just dont understand I mean if they think you are but you havent told its obvious you dont want them to know yet. Good luck to all hiding it at parties etc over Christmas

Well handled Christelle! I hope you had fun.
I started a new job when I was PG last time. I had to wear a very baggy uniform and I wasn't showing at all anyway. One of the bosses met me for the first time a few weeks into the job, sat next to me in the coffee room and said, "Are you with child?". I was so shocked I just blurted out "Yes, but I haven't told anyone yet".

The lying and hiding is going to be really hard for me. Well done everyone surviving Christmas do's! Luckily I don't drink much anyway and am a fussy eater so that shouldn't give me away.

My boss asked me outright a few weeks ago if I was pregnant and then if I wanted to be - I told him that was a really insensitive thing to ask someone and he felt really guilty - now I am I feel bad.

I've had to tell someone at work due to the job I do but luckily she's 7 months pregnant so I trust her to keep it quiet.

DaveMccave · 08/12/2012 10:20

chuckaluck how many weeks are you? I'm only 4 and have the same as you, slight stretching feeling, no other symptoms yet. Even my boobs are fine.

belissima Underwires were a no go in my last pregnancy over 5 years a go. I have heard that now advice has changed, they are fine if they are still comfortable, particularly in the early stages. Probably best to ask someone who has done this more recently/midwife though to check :) I can't afford new wireless bras at current though so it's wires or hanging free!

Got away with mock drinking last night I think. Bought a couple of alcohol free beers and poured them into a pint glass. DId have a friend try to force some drinks on me and kept shoving her glass in my face during the gig, I just pretended to take mouthfuls. Wink

shellshock7 · 08/12/2012 10:47

Wow this thread moves quick! DS is in the middle of his first sickness bug Sad so not been on for a coupla days, I'll try and catch up!

Congrats to all the new BFPs Smile

dave I've read that the cramps get worse with each pregnancy so maybe that's why we never had them before...it's made me relax abt them a bit as well.

The midwife service sounds good too, you'll have to keep us update how it's going Smile

I'm not an obsessive POASer once I've got the positive, mine is doing it way too early Wink

I'm off to a gig on Tues, I last saw this band at 38 weeks pregnant with DS so am looking forward to being able to enjoy them a bit more freely this time!

sunflower my extremities are freezing but my body roasting?! Very odd Grin

waves my fav denim skirt doesn't fit already (only 5 weeks!) so I've asked DH for a maternity one for Xmas. Luckily I have bras in all sizes from the bust increases last time.

I had low BP last pregnancy and fainted a lot, drs advice was to lie down when it came on, very useful in meetings!

pingu glad the scan was good news!

brave I had an early scan last time and am goin to try not too this time, it's hard tho!

ruck my scan and booking in are all done together at 12 weeks, feels like a long wait! Luckily Xmas will make the weeks fly by.

Nothing much has changed for me, still cramps on and off and got lower back pain last night, all seems positive tho so remaining chilled. Hope you all have a good weekend Smile

Chuckaluck · 08/12/2012 11:40

Hi Dave, I am 6 weeks today and my first pregnancy so all new to me! I can't describe the feeling as anything else apart from it feels like my insides are plasticine and someone is stretching it longer and longer!! Very weird! Trying to chill and not to worry about lack of symptoms but want to tell our families at Christmas but worried about something going wrong! So much to worry about... I must chill out! Xmas Confused

TotallyEggFlipped · 08/12/2012 12:49

Flight socks can help with feeling faint. And not standing still - either keep moving or sit down. If your calf muscles are working, they're helping pump the blood back to the rest of your body. If you're just standing still the blood can pool in your legs.

wavesandsmiles · 08/12/2012 13:43

Hello everyone and thanks for the anti-fainting tips Smile I do however think that my plans for getting a day's skiing in when we are up in Scotland later this month, will have to be shelved.

I got through the xmas do with the "have to be up early for the DCs swimming lesson" excuse no bother. That is pretty much it for me now as DH and I don't have a particularly thrilling social life.

I can't wait til I get paid Friday - I am soooo in need of new bras. DH woke up this morning, took one look at me, and said "where did THOSE come from" then starting patting my tummy saying well done little one

Christelle2207 · 08/12/2012 14:46

waves gutted you can't ski, is it because of the fainting? I am still planning on going to France next month.

I have been feeling a bit faint, not actually fainted yet though. However the past I had fainting spells and was told to take salt - packets of crisps sorted me out!

Lol at boobs growing. My right has, but not my left!!!

RuckAndRoll · 08/12/2012 15:08

My DH has been complaining the boobs haven't grown yet, it was the bit about pregnancy he was looking forward to! Told him to give it time still a while to go.

Went to a Christmas fete at our church this morning, trying to sneak off to the loos to be sick was interesting, think 1 or 2 people may have guessed but they didn't say anything.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend Xmas Smile

Silver15 · 08/12/2012 18:17

Hello Ladies,

Welcome to all the new ladies.

I had a xmas do last night. Kept very busy dancing no one noticed I wasn't drinking.

I have very bad evening sickness and feel very tired. A friend offered look after DCs today so spent day in bed with DH looking after me.

bunchofposy · 08/12/2012 18:24

Hello, just thought I'd say hello. I'm a bit nervous about joining as I joined March in June, and had to leave in July Xmas Sad But I got my BFP a few days ago, and so that would make me due 16th Aug, all being well (fx fx fx)
xx

TotallyEggFlipped · 08/12/2012 19:25

Hi bunchofposy. Fingers crossed for you this time.

huffpuff75 · 08/12/2012 20:06

fingers crossed bunchofposy - I was nervous too for the same reason, but thinking positive is the best way forward. And it is a good place to let out some pregnancy whinges when you can't in RL.

christelle my left is bigger than my right. My theory is that I sleep on my left side so all the growing has drifted to that side. Although the right one is still mahooosive compared to normal. wavesandsmiles my DH did something v similar this morning, verging on a round of applause at one point.

Well done everyone who has managed to get away with the mock drinking. I have a night out coming up with toddler group mums and I just know they are going to guess. I told one or two when I had MC last time as it was the same week as one announced she was PG and I was a bit upset. Need a great excuse. It is a meal so it isn't even as if I can have a pretend one on the go and keep abandoning it in a dark corner of a pub or something. Because it is an all mum thing (pretty much) I'm sure they will out me.

beckie90 · 08/12/2012 22:58

Havnt been on in a while had a lot to catch up on lol.

Congrats to all the new bfps :)

I havnt told barely anyone that im pregnany I darent sooo scared lol, my mum will go mad, although I think she has an idea. I'm expecting my 3rd and I'm only 22, it was a major shock but since I've dine 11 tests I've kinda got used to the shock now lol. The hormones are terrible this time. Went out for a birthday meal last night and just burst out crying my dmil said your pregnant arnt you? I knew it. So pretty sure my own mum knows as she's known with my last 2 ds's before telling her...Ayyy dear xx

Silver15 · 09/12/2012 07:40

Hello Ladies,

Just a quick question, has anyone gone off sex. I'm really struggling. Can't stand being touched. This is new as in both previous pg's it was the opposite. I was kind of looking forward to it as I remember it being brilliant in the past but my body or hormones are screaming otherwise.
