Congratulations MissLaugh, sorry to hear you had a difficult labour but I'm so pleased to hear she arrived safely. I'm sure you're delighted with her. That'll make an interesting BS when you have time to post.

Congrats to all the graduates :)

MissMummy1 · 29/11/2012 09:38

Congrats missl - she's here safely and that's all that matters. Beautiful name!

Passmethecrisps · 29/11/2012 10:01

Congrats to missl and jen

I think I missed peppa yesterday.

This is now getting very exciting! So many babies.

ToManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 29/11/2012 11:19

Well the full moon didn't work Sad, I've got a midwife appointment at 12.20, I'm going to beg her for a sweep even though they don't usually do them until one week overdue.

Hope all the other waiting ladies are ok, good luck for today Smile

YellowWellies · 29/11/2012 11:24

Dicks - the full moon effect lasts a couple of days either side according to the MWs where I had Jonas. Fingers crossed it could still work for you! Good luck MM and other due date ladies xxx

MissMummy1 · 29/11/2012 11:37

Thank you yw ! Although no signs of anything yet, sigh....

dicks I gave my mw a full on sobby begging performance when i asked for a sweep on tuesday and she said no. Cow.

ToManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 29/11/2012 11:52

YW, you have just cheered me up Grin

MM1, I'm not holding out much hope with mine, I don't know why they insist on you being a week over, surely it's not going to cause any harm. Hope you're felling ok today. Happy due date!

ShellyBobbs · 29/11/2012 12:46

Congratulations Jenbird, Peppa, Georgee and Misslaughalot

Fingers crossed for you ladies still left.

MM I've just caught up on here today and had to do a sly old smile when I saw how panicked your DP was when he couldn't get you. Sailing trip sprung to mind and 'comeuppance' Grin How's your back today?

MissMummy1 · 29/11/2012 12:54

Haha shelley - if I'd known it would have such an effect on him I would have deliberately ignored his calls weeks ago! Grin

Still really sore but touchwood no worse. I'm trying not to moan about it - going to brave a hobble round tescos with him later, mainly for the comedy factor of strangers' faces!! And because yw advocates it as a great way to bring on labour, fingers crossed!

Dixiebell · 29/11/2012 13:06

Reckon there're going to be some December babies. This weekend would be convenient for me...1/12/12 works...!

ShellyBobbs · 29/11/2012 13:08

I know MM, you should have tried it Grin

A new Tesco's opened near me a few months ago despite massive protests, it great big whacking one aswell, one of those extra stores. It's great! Nobody goes in it because it's in the most stupid place ever, so you can have a leisurely stroll round without fear of anyone getting in your way and the 'reduced items' shelves are fantastic because basically it's the whole of the fresh stock on it Grin They have been told they've got another 6 months and if no improvement it's being turned into a Tesco warehouse. Thought I'd share with you as everyone here is laughing at them :) Even the checkout staff are useless...

MissMummy1 · 29/11/2012 13:20

Hahaha fab. We have a massive tescos 10 mins up the motorway but because it serves a huge area it's always rammed. Think it will be a gentle wander round the wee one our nearest 'town'. Damn this village and it's lack of shops!!

georgee · 29/11/2012 14:02

Ooh and congratulations peppa, jenbird and missl - big baby missl!!

Thanks very much everyone for the congratulations Smile. Sorry, haven't had the chance to catch up with the threads immediately before mine. Will try after posting if the wee man obliges by staying asleep!

With the episiotomy there was just no question, I was going to tear badly or they could cut me, and in my mind at least that was the controlled option which meant that I could get him out on the next push. It had been a long pushing stage (about two hours with one hour of me trying on my own, another hour coached) and by the end everyone shouting at me that I had to push harder (three people - two midwives and DH!) and I could feel that he just wasn't coming out as it was. It's a bit sore but really fine, I'm very glad I had it. I did buy some witch hazel, I just have no idea where it is now!

I can't believe you're contemplating DTD yw! Respect!

mrswee I couldn't go to the birthing unit because of the EMCS last time but I did spend the rest of the night there after James was born as the normal Simpson's was full. Was very very nice. But it was also nice in the Simpson's, the staff were incredibly supportive of the VBAC and very respectful of my birth preferences. They offered to let me labour in the pool which I did for a while and I would have delivered there but the doctors wanted to get me out to check dilation and I stayed out then as things were hotting up.

I found the hypnobirthing really really helpful this time BTW, the breathing really eased the pain in early labour and got me to 7cm. After that, gas and air helped! TENS too.

ToManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 29/11/2012 16:05

Well my midwife appointment was a waste if time. My usual midwife was ill, replacement wouldn't do a sweep and baby is still back to back, marvellous! Couldn't have been more depressed coming out of there.

Sorry for the moan Sad

StuntNun · 29/11/2012 16:07

Dicks get on the Spinning Babies website or look at Juju Sundin's Birth Skills for ideas in how to turn the baby. The Birth Skills book has a section on back to back labour.

mrswee · 29/11/2012 16:22

georgee all good to hear. I agree that they are really great up at Simpsons... once you get past the far too busy triage area.. you must have been in the bit that used to be the naturl labour ward before they opened the birth centre. That's now the area for anyone who is not concidered sutible for the birthing centre but doesn't require being 'strapped' to a bed!

I had a crazy experience there the last time but the staff were amazing and respectful of my birthing choices even though it didn't go that way, they acknowledged what I had wanted and that all helped me get through it.

mrswee · 29/11/2012 16:25

Sorry the hear that toomanydicks spinning babies site is good,
i am pretty sure it helped me turn my breach dd at 38 weeks in my last preganacy!

This baby has been back to back for a while but has turned abit more to the side after being really careful to try and sleep on my left as much as possible and sit on my ball rather than slouch on the couch.. I think stopping work helped to because until 2 weeks ago I was sitting for 8 hours at a time

MissMummy1 · 29/11/2012 17:32

Feeling a bit geeky having just downloaded the mumsnet app for my mobile... Grin

Passmethecrisps · 29/11/2012 17:36

MM I downloaded it ages ago but always just use the mobile site. Can't remember why and it has been updated so it might be awesome

ToManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 29/11/2012 18:03

Thanks for the advice StuntNun and mrswee, I've been reading up and trying some of the techniques.

mummytobe1990 · 29/11/2012 18:47

TooManyDicks that sucks, my midwife didnt hesitate to do a sweep on our due date yesterday, i wonder why they wont for you? hope your little one turns though xx still got fingers crossed for the full moon to work haha xx

MissMummy1 · 29/11/2012 19:34

Bouncing on my ball with a precariously balanced laptop and the full(ish) moon streaming through the patio doors onto my bump. I WILL have this baby by the weekend!!!! (if nothing else then to inconvenience my selfish bastard father who's booked himself a weekend away) Grin

Fingers crossed toomanydicks for baby to turn, my yoga instructor is a huge fan of the spinning babies website and I've only ever heard good things about it!
