SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 18:50

8:15?! Poor mw! There's only one mw here on the pre/post natal ward because labour ward is so busy! I can hear newborns crying and I just spoke to dd on the phone

Bellaboo123 · 22/11/2012 18:56

It's a special late clinic they do!

spotty is your DP on his way? Have they said they'll keep you in?

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 18:58

He is on his way finally! Should be here soon hopefully Confused the doctors are doing their rounds at the moment I really don't want to stay though I'd rather just come back in the morning I hate sharing bathrooms and I haven't had a bath since yesterday!

Is this your last mw appointment before you have the baby?! Grin

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 22/11/2012 19:00

Oh spotty that doesn't sound much fun. When can DH get to you? (at least you have us for company)

Bellaboo123 · 22/11/2012 19:03

It's justa waiting game isn't it, so frustrating.

Don't blame you for wanting to get home to DD and DP and come back in the morning when you're mentally and emotionally prepared for it.

Not sure tbh I'm 37w + 2??? Guess I'll find out tonight but its not my usual MW I'm seeing Confused

Good luck keep us all posted x

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 19:09

Well apparently they're too busy to do anything probably until tomorrow but if I go home I might miss a slot Hmm dp is on his way but I have no idea how long he'll be. The car park is going to cost me a fortune!!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 22/11/2012 19:32

Is there anywhere near the hospital he could park?

Rubbish they are being a pain with regards to letting you go home.

AlisonDB · 22/11/2012 19:39

Oh spotty just rubbish, thinking of you and hoping they don't keep you/ mess you round unnecesarily!! Hugs xx

AlisonDB · 22/11/2012 19:44

Right lovely ladies,
I have pumped up my excersize ball, hope I'm not too late for it to be of any use to me,
I'm now 36wks and baby is definatly head down now, so I need to start helping him engage (if I stand any chance of being induced at wk 39!)

Questions:
what Do I do on with it?
Do I rock, swivel, bounce??
Lean on it with knees on floor?
How long do I do this for??

(DS is currently pissin himself laughing at mummy being silly!!
Now he wants a go too! Think this next 3 weeks will be fun if nothing else! Lol)

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 20:17

Going to labour ward for steroids at nine. Dp parked down the road.

soapnuts · 22/11/2012 20:21

oh good luck Spotty! Hope you get some sleep after the steroids.

AlisonDB · 22/11/2012 20:23

Glad DH is with you spotty. Thinking of you! X

HoneyMum21 · 22/11/2012 20:34

Good luck spotty

ISpyPlumPie · 22/11/2012 20:41

Good luck Spotty - will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hope Dated and COD are ok too.

Alison - my DS thought the ball was hilarious at first and kept asking to be lifted onto it to have a go. Think the novelty has worn off a bit now though, and it's just where mummy sits. I'm doing a combo of bouncing and rocking, with leaning over it occasionally. Not sure if this is right though as I did the same last time, and although DS ended up good position so it might have done some good it didn't encourage him to come out and I still ended up being induced. Only started at 38 weeks then though, and have been using it since about 30 weeks this time. Hopefully someone who has actually researched it/knows what they're talking about will be along soon to point us in the right direction Grin.

MW appt today - everything is fine but was a tiny bit disappointed that LO is still at the brim rather than engaged. I know this is perfectly normal for DC2 but just getting really impatient and hoped that there might be some sign of progress. My next appointment will be at 40+2 if nothing's happened and she's said she'll do a sweep even though 'officially' the policy in our area is that they are now meant to wait until 40+7 with second and subsequent DC.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 22/11/2012 20:41

Good luck Spotty will they be inducing you tomorrow or just giving you the steroids just in case?

Secondsop · 22/11/2012 20:48

Ooh good luck Spotty!

alison I sincerely hope 36 weeks isn't too late for the ball as I'm 37 today and only took mine out of the packaging this morning. It is on the floor at my feet not-yet-inflated as I write.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 22/11/2012 20:58

Lots has happened!! Good luck spotty I can imagine how you must have felt talking to your dd, stay strong you'll see her soon.

giraffe213 · 22/11/2012 21:00

Thinking of you spotty, hope everything goes well and you don't have to wait too long to be seen. Must be annoying when they won't let you go home either!
I had to go into hospital today for a trace but I wasn't there long as everything was obviously normal, think the midwife was perhaps a bit over-cautious sending me in, I'm still feeling emotional from the whole thing though!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 21:04

In back on the monitor now. Not sure what will happen tomorrow will have to see what my consultant says I don't think ill go past end of next week though Confused argh I'm not ready!!

Bellaboo123 · 22/11/2012 21:06

Good luck spotty

I'm back from MW all is well and 3/5 engaged. Trouble walking and pain in my back is LO lying on my sciatic nerve, apparently bouncing on the ball and sitting back to front on a chair should help her shift. No more slouching in the sofa Sad had a lovely MW so was hilarious!

giraffe213 · 22/11/2012 21:15

Those who recommended the Emma Jane nursing bra, what's the sizing like? I just had 2 delivered from Debenhams, both same size but on one the back is too big and on the other it's fine (I'm guessing that the growing room needed will be mostly in the cup rather than back size, could be wrong though!). I'll keep them both anyway (if baby comes on time there'll still be time to exchange if needed) but thought the Emma Jane one would be good to have too, especially as it fits a range of sizes and looks more comfy for overnight use than what I have. I'm just not sure whether to buy the bigger or smaller size? or maybe I should get off the internet and stop spending so much money!

AlisonDB · 22/11/2012 21:20

Have now been bouncing rocking sitting on the ball for over an hour, am slightly bored and my arse is numb!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 21:25

I always nearly wee myself on my ball Blush

HoneyMum21 · 22/11/2012 21:25

i was in a 34C (god knows what cup size i would be now) before getting the EmmaJane bra and got size 34 which fits well. It's got 4 or 5 hook choices so you can alter to an extent, if you're between back sizes but on the lower end of cup size i would def say go for the smaller. To be honest i would prob go for smaller anyway. Not totally sure but think they do free returns so if unsure could get both and return one?

AlisonDB · 22/11/2012 21:40

Just found this link, on how to use the excersize ball.

Hopefully we find it useful! :-)
