Goodness you're all making me feel almost youthful in my 35 years. Almost everyone I know here having babies are in their mid-20s, so I think I might hang around here more often Wink

Glad to hear the scans are coming through thick and fast. Excited to report that for the last few days I have been feeling slightly less sick and have stopped waking up in the middle of the night feeling ill. Lets hope this is the sign of things to come...

Dontmind good luck with your decision, that's gotta be a tough one. I'm sure it would be an amazing experience and I would think easier to move (and re-establish yourself) in a new country while pregnant than with a young baby in tow. Being pregnant might give you a good way to get to know people by joining antenatal or mum groups.

MrsBri · 20/11/2012 19:34

I'm 36 (just!), so fitting into the role of older mum too :-)

I seem to have a slope starting under my breasts down to my bump. Looks a bit weird, but as I've never been pregnant I'm not sure how I should look. I think it is all a bit early at 9+3 though! I'm going to be the size of a house. :-/

PseudoBadger · 20/11/2012 19:36

So will I be an older mum at 33? Where's the cut off?

OP posts:
Sunbeam18 · 20/11/2012 19:41

Cut off is 35!

PseudoBadger · 20/11/2012 19:42

Bit of advice please ladies,,. I've sworn off caffiene so no tea coffee chocolate etc but as it gets colder I'd quite like a hot drink I have bought some trimmings apple crunch think its alright buy what'd you reckon? I'm 11+1

pinkapples · 20/11/2012 20:26

Not trimmings obviously I meant twinnings Grin

DontmindifIdo · 20/11/2012 21:11

pinkapples - you could always buy decaff coffee/tea...

I allow myself one good coffee a day (if it's only going to be one coffee a day, it's got to be a good one!), but will have decaf othertimes as well.

Mint tea is also nice. Very good if your feeling a bit icky as well.

AlohaMama · 20/11/2012 21:11

Ooh trimmings didn't sound too tasty, but twinings apple crunch sounds nice. that and lots of hot chocolate. It's getting quite wintery here (23 deg) I'm almost tempted to do the same!

Darn it, according to Sunbeam I fall into the older mums category then. Or at 35 do I get to sit on the fence?

MrsBri I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's nice to see a bump. Though at this stage it normally goes up and down all the time. I don't think I'm showing yet, although hard to tell bump versus podgy tummy left over from the last one Confused

SecretSparkle · 20/11/2012 21:49

pink I wouldn't swear off caffeine to that extreme!! A little bit of hot chocolate isn't going to do any harm, the double espresso shot might though!!!

redwellybluewelly · 20/11/2012 22:00

Last time I swore off caffeine, didn't touch a drop. The one time at about 32weeks when I accidentally had a proper coffee I had a somersaulting baby all night.

This time I have cut down but will continue to drink a coffee daily but decaf after midday as it stops me sleeping.

and yes I nc'ed again as wanted something that reminded me of DD

DontmindifIdo · 20/11/2012 22:06

(redwelly - who are you then???)

pinkapples · 20/11/2012 22:16

So we think yes on the apple crunch? I have yet to try it it might taste awful

I don't drink coffee anyhow just tea and chocolate at the minis making me v v sick so staying clear of that to be on the safe side it doesn't taste good on the way ack up Sad

Ill give it a bash tomorrow then other than that alls well and I don't actually feel that sick at the moment x Grin

AlohaMama · 21/11/2012 00:36

I seem to remember last time I quite liked hot water with some freshly squeezed lime. It's actually quite refreshing and fairly easy on the stomach. At the moment I'm just drinking diluted still lemonade. Yum.

MrsBri · 21/11/2012 06:49

I bought some fruit tea...enjoyed it briefly then turned against it and don't want it at all now! I have two cups of tea a day, then fruit juice, water or squash. It's getting repetitive!

SecretSparkle · 21/11/2012 08:11

Aloha hot water and lime sounds quite nice, might try that one!!

I've gone all crazy for fruit juices which I've decided is completely to blame for my weight gain!!! Its now rather obvious that im pregnant!!

Squidge123 · 21/11/2012 10:37

Hi everyone, sounds like everyone doing well and congratulations on the scan little. I had bookin in yest and midwife lovely, I have been so sick and promptly burst into tears when she said congratulations!
when she took my bloods I went all dizzy and had to lie down! She fit me in for a docs appointment later in day and I got signed off work for a week with sickness and gave me anti sickness tablets. Took 1st one this morning and not been sick since so fingers crossed, also have really bad diahorrea so wondering if I have some sort of bug as well. On the positive side have lost 3lb so now only 2lb heavier than when got pregnant.

I have scan including downs test on 11th dec when will be 13+2, still ages away but not too fussed just want to feel better .

I'm 35 and no mention was made on my age and looking through notes u get flagged up if under 16 or over 40, my mum had be at 44 and I turned out fine!!

Have a lovely day x

spiderlight · 21/11/2012 11:28

My mum was nearly 47 and I was OK! (And she didn't know she was pregnant until 6 weeks before I was born because the doctor kept telling her I was the menopause :o).

I STILL do not have a booking-in appointment, let alone a scan date. DH rang the surgery yesterday and they said they didn't have the forms but that he could go in for them at 1.30 when the midwife was there (I was in bed with the lurgy). He drove all the way over and the midwife had forgotten them, so now we have to ring them again on Friday. At this rate I'll probably give birth during my booking in!!

spiderlight · 21/11/2012 11:29

Oh, and just to cheer the oldies up, my midwife told me last time that in their system you're classed as 'elderly' at over 35 and 'geriatric' at over 40!! :o

MrsBri · 21/11/2012 11:48

Bonus...elderly sounds awesome. :-/ I feel old enough some days as it is.

suzyrut · 21/11/2012 12:11

Hi all, another elderly mother here too! Will be 38 when this one is delivered!

Congrats on the scan little, 3 hours exactly till my "dating" scan with the nuchal test etc.

suzyrut · 21/11/2012 12:16

don't mind one of my best friends lives in Abu Dhabi and it's a fab place with a really lovely ex-pat community (the wives all have an amazing time), great standard of living, great salaries (and that's before you take into account you don't pay tax!) I love going out to see him, am hoping to go early Feb next year.

DontmindifIdo · 21/11/2012 12:20

Suzyrut - thanks, I've told DH to go for it, we can do our research etc after he's got a full package details, I've put loads of conditions and we'll see if it looks right for us, but me being pregnant shouldn't stop us, in fact it's the perfect time for me to have a couple of years out work wise and to relocate while DS is preschool and this one is a baby who knows no different...

DontmindifIdo · 21/11/2012 12:20

sorry, hit post too soon - and good luck Suzy!!!!

olimoss · 21/11/2012 13:56

Excellent news on the scans and Dontmind exciting about potential moves overseas!

So, we had the scan this morning and the little bugger was incredibly unco-operative - they had three goes, I had to drink a litre of water and do laps around the hospital but finally got some good pictures (it was sitting down as if in an armchair, doing disco-hands) and all the NF measurements are very small, everything else normal as they could see for now. Definitely human, a relief!

Bit real! Have told my mum back home in Australia, swear I could hear her screams from here.....
