Very jealous of a trip to Florida. Hope you have an amazing time. Smile

AlohaMama · 19/11/2012 17:33

Oooh enjoy Florida MrsJ that will be a nice trip!

Goodness me all this talk of tearing and the like. Yes I also had that for ds, was stitched up and to be fair I think she did a good job. Anyway I haven't been thinking at all about the actual delivery part this time round, more just stressing about coping with 2 under 3s! Maybe I shall have to have a think about it. I'd be interested to hear what decisions others end up making. Here for one I'm praying for a teensy tiny girl baby who will just pop out like a sneeze unlike her 9lb1oz older brother!

MrsJLS85 · 19/11/2012 17:58

On the tearing front, I am having a meeting with a consultant next month to discuss this birth. He is going to go over my old notes with me, and discuss everything that happened (had a really bad 3rd degree tear), what could be done this time, etc. I really want to avoid a C-sec though so am hoping they say I can have a VB if all looks well. Fingers crossed!

MrsBri · 19/11/2012 18:04

Webminx and MrsJ...cheddar is keeping me going at the moment :-) It takes the nasty taste from my mouth quite nicely.

Though that has subsided a bit today. The nausea has been intense though. The girl opposite me at worked sprayed some appalling perfume. Nearly vommed at my desk :-/

I too am in my normal clothes with a definite pregnancy bump which has been visible since 7 weeks. 9+2 today.

olimoss · 19/11/2012 18:35

G'day all.

Re: for those of you with bad first birth tear experiences, my younger sister had an awful first birth with 3rd degree tears and literally hundreds of stitches across all layers. She swore she'd never have another hospital birth and had her second and third at home in a pool. Very brave, but she had absolutely no new tears either time. Obv not a solution for all but thought I'd share....

My morning sickness I think is easing however the bloody antibiotics I'm now on for the mystery UTI make me feel just as bad - I feel ripped off!

Finally, kind of a serious question - I am off home to Australia in early Dec, for 3 weeks, and it'll be blazing sunshine every day - I figure I won't need any vitamin D supplements when there....what do you reckon?!?!

olimoss · 19/11/2012 18:36

My bad - she had 3rd and 4th degree tears....

PseudoBadger · 19/11/2012 19:31

You will if you cover up or use a decent sun cream olimoss.

OP posts:
olimoss · 19/11/2012 19:45

I'll definitely have suncream on, mostly face and a big hat but even just general going about the place I'll be in the sun (as opposed to dedicated sunbathing, which we Aussies don't really do...)....

Little9 · 19/11/2012 20:01

Hello all. Have been lurking for a while but not posting as have been knackered. Am now 9+4. Had booking in appointment with my midwife today and ended up blaahing on her as soon as I got in there (poor woman). BlushBrought it all back from last mc at 20 weeks. Am also getting spotting and a few pains, so she has booked me in for a reassurance scan tomorrow morning. I know this can happen but with two previous mcs, I can't help but panic and expect the worst. Oh well, what will be, will be as my DH keeps telling me.

Have a lovely time in Florida Mrsj and Australia olimoss.

Glad there have been some happy scans and fx for loads more. I've got my 12 week scan on 7th December (if all ok tomorrow) after which I'll see the consultant to discuss a plan for what's going to happen to try to make this a successful pregnancy.

Little9 · 19/11/2012 20:04

Ooo, and I can only just do my usual trousers up so belly is definitely bulging (although probably mostly food related!!)

Sunbeam18 · 19/11/2012 21:41

Good luck tomorrow, Little! Sounds like a good midwife. Let us know how you get on, and will keep everything crossed for you. I am exactly same dates as you, 9+4. I'm 40 and it's my first pregnancy so bit nervous about being ancient x

Little9 · 20/11/2012 07:58

Thanks sunbeam. I'm 38 (39 in Feb) so not far behind you. Everything will be fine. I have lots of friends who have had kids around 40 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I didn't get much sleep last night. Am so tired and nervous. X

DontmindifIdo · 20/11/2012 10:15

hi all, Olimoss - you shouldn't need VitD suppliments if you are going to expose your skin to the sun naturally. It's just that in England in winter, particularly if you don't eat a lot of red meat, you don't get enough vit D.

Got my scan date through, Monday 3rd December. Rather exciting. I've got my appraisal at work the week before, which hopefully means my boss will have made my bonus recommendation before I tell him I'm pregnant.

Other scary news, DH has been contacted by a headhunter re a job in Abu Dhabi - my innitial reaction is "no, I'm pregnant, we have a nice life here" then I heard the bottom end of the wage braket they are offering is more than double his current wage, plus he'd get a housing allowance on top of that, and it's all pretty much tax free... we could rent out our house here for more than than the mortgage (which would cover any repairs/redcorating for wear and tear). Slightly panicking he's really wanting to go for it. I can't emigrate while pregnant, can I??? (and slightly hoping someone else gets the job)

olimoss · 20/11/2012 10:45

Thanks DontMind - that's what I figured - none of my mates back home have ever had to tak Vit D supps!

Re: Dubai, I know some people who love living out there, and my SIL's brother and his wife have just had twins there, good care as far as I know. Very hot and not a great record of human rights for manual/domestic workers, and I understand traffic jams are hell, but otherwise they're very happy. I know the airport well but that's it....

Sunbeam18 · 20/11/2012 14:26

Hope things are good, Little x

Little9 · 20/11/2012 14:42

Hello all. Very pleased to report a wriggly little bean with heartbeat. Also, was measured a week further than I thought therefore am now 10+4. Yay, one less week to wait!

Sunbeam18 · 20/11/2012 14:47

Oh wow, fantastic news!!!! You must be so relieved. And cool to be a whole week ahead. I was only dated 2 days ahead at my early scan. Hooray!

Lyftiduft · 20/11/2012 15:34

yay little :)

My turn next Friday (30th), date came through this morning. Just need to sort out extra nursery hour for DS in case I get held up in traffic on the way back (escaping Cambridge on a Friday evening is never good).

Dontmind, have a friend who taught in Abu Dhabi for a few years, she loved it (but was single and child free at the time, which I guess might make a difference?). There must be some expat UAE mums on here somewhere you could get more ideas and advice from?

spiderlight · 20/11/2012 16:21

Sunbeam, I'm 40 too so I'll join you in the ancients' corner!

Sunbeam18 · 20/11/2012 16:47

Hooray, Spider. That's good to know!

PseudoBadger · 20/11/2012 17:43

I'm feeling a bit worried as at 10+3 I'm not feeling sick or extremely hungry any more, and my scan is still so far away (10th Dec) :(

OP posts:
dreamydays · 20/11/2012 17:46

Congrats little! am also 38, 39 in April. Sometimes I feel about 55, don't know if I look it. Bit worried that when I start telling people I'm pg, their reaction will be "but aren't you a bit old??"

dreamydays · 20/11/2012 17:49

pseudo if it helps, my sickness has been tailing off since 10 weeks. I was v worried until I found the diary from my last pg and saw I was the same then. Also, I still feel sick at times - especially evening/night if I've not eaten much.

PseudoBadger · 20/11/2012 17:54

Thanks Dreamy, I do feel sick if I am hungry. It's just very different to how I was with DS. Which I know can be normal.

OP posts:
Little9 · 20/11/2012 18:02

Yay, for us oldies!!! dreamy tell em to bog off if they say anything. More and more women are having babies later in life and although the risks increase, you're not the first and you certainly won't be the last!! I've never had anyone even remotely suggest anything when I've told them about being pregnant so I'm sure they'll be ok.

Lyftiduft - good luck for Friday (next week). I have my 12 week scan (will actually now be 13 weeks though) the week after on 7th December. Just hoping all stays well between now and then. At least I can relax a little for a couple of weeks.

Thanks sunbeam. I am more relieved than I could ever explain! Didn't sleep a wink last night so am now feeling even more tired than normal. Early bed for me tonight, mmmmm!

Dontmind hope you get a decision that you can cope with. I know a few people who have moved house during pregnancy but not actually moved Country. I'm sure you'd cope wonderfully if it comes to that. Think of it as a new adventure?

Hello and waves to everyone I've missed.
