That's so frustrating Sophia but the little I know about the biomechanics of it all suggest that as soon as you start getting anxious or focussed on the timings, the contractions get 'shy'. You need to get the oxytocin going again, so lots of nice cuddles and feeling loved and content, nipple twiddling, clary sage snorting and bouncing on a ball or going for walk... All at once!!! Wink You never know, it could all kick off again soon, like Tits... Good luck.

Ouch Mrswee. Hope it feels better soon. And you Georgee.

I haven't even thought about my cervix since TTC, let alone tried to find it. I suspect my fingers will be too short with the bump in the way...

Last night I woke up completely after just a couple of hours sleep :( I got up to wee just for something to do!! I read for ages, DD started yelling but was still asleep, so I tried to fet back to sleep, but it wasn't very restful. I think the combination of feeling hot & sweaty, lying on the plastic backed mattress protector and getting BH all night means I'm constantly on 'watch'. I wish I could just relax and enjoy these weeks a bit more!!!

Chunkychicken · 06/11/2012 08:59

Yoko It could be the mucus plug, which means things are heading in the right direction, but it could still be quite a while. Anecdotally I know people have had the show weeks before baby arrives or in my case, about 12hrs with my DD. If you get blood or any sudden pains etc, then get in touch with your MW immediately, but otherwise, try to relax and see what happens.

YokoUhOh · 06/11/2012 09:01

Wowsers Chunky, so it could be imminent or relatively far away Confused ... I've got builders knocking down a wall in my house today, this could get interesting...

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/11/2012 09:05

Ok I tried finding my cervix again it felt high up but in sure I can feel the baby's head through it! It's really hard and rounded just how I imagine she's lying, it gave me a BH afterwards too.

StuntNun · 06/11/2012 09:40

I think we all have trouble keeping up with the thread Yoko. Things are a bit quieter over on the postnatal thread.

I have a viewing of my house today so FC this one will want to buy it. This DC3 will have to share with both his big brothers otherwise. Hopefully once the mad clean up is done I'll be able to relax until the baby arrives. I'm fed up of cleaning and tidying, it took an hour and a half for me to tidy the boys' bedroom yesterday, just the rest of the house to do now.

TMI alert but I've had three 'bowel movements' already this morning. That isn't a sign of imminent labour is it? I wish I had known that was coming back in the first two trimesters where I was bunged up! Blush

Sophia - descending? Went a long time ago Grin

Barmee 40+3 today.... :(

I feel 'weird'. Nausea and stomach cramp. But not uterus cramp. Definitely in the bowel/stomach. Going back to bed for a bit. Tried to poo - thought that might clear it off, but all I managed were spectacular farts that even the dog backed off at. Hmm

I'm tired too. Ace!

BarmeeMarmee · 06/11/2012 09:53

detective I'll stop moaning then -"only" 39+4 today. Hope you manage to get some rest.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 06/11/2012 09:54

chunky as soon as DH gets off his conf call I will make him walk me round to costa and the bottle recycling place holding my hand! Oh the romance. Grin

I am seeing my reflexologist later too so let's see if she can sort my life to for me.

stunthope all goes well with the viewing

ShellyBobbs · 06/11/2012 09:54

Pasties So sorry you are feeling all shitty, I know what you mean about the energy levels, I have an underactive thyroid that gets the better of me sometimes and all I can do is just sit on my arse for the whole day.

Sophia Fingers crossed for you, bet by this time tomorrow you're having baby snuggles.

I really need to shampoo my carpet again (remember the flea infestation a few months ago by my big fluffy cat?) well I found another flea again this morning grrrrrrrrrr Angry. I feel like shaving her naked, I use frontline religiously every 4 weeks, flea powders and sprays. It now means that stupid pregnancy hormones will make me shampoo every carpet in the house and bleach every surface instead of just giving everything a good hoover and chucking the hoover bag which would be fine this time of year!

Also on the rash front, it's looking good. Still covered from head to foot, but instead of waking with the usual angry red raised rash, it's a bit pinker and very dry, I didn't need to get up in the night to apply cream either (usually have to do this at least 3 times in a night from 1am - 7am), so it is probably a reaction to some virus I've had rather than an allergy.

Oooooh look at this post, it's all about me. Hope everyone else is OK Grin

WaitingForMe · 06/11/2012 09:55

It's DHs second interview today for the big job. He got a bit nervous last night as it seems so perfect so I was saying all the right things about things being meant to be but I REALLY want him to get it! I'm quite anxious about some of my client work and it'd be so nice to feel less pressure on my business. Could I please ask for some finger crossing again? (Maybe for us on one hand and Stunt on the other?)

Still getting pink mucus discharge but very gradually. It's been three days now Confused

ShellyBobbs · 06/11/2012 09:57

Detective Hope you feel better soon. I felt like my bum was going to be sick last night Confused and that's the only way I can describe the feeling, it wasn't poo or anything.

Peaky1 · 06/11/2012 10:16

DH I'm 40+6 now and have an induction looming on Saturday. I also have a sweep today and another growth scan/consultant appointment on Thursday. I'm hoping the sweep will get things going before the rest of the intervention starts but we'll see. Baby wasn't even engaged last week but I've been feeling the downward pressure for the past couple of days so I hope that's a good sign!

I'm starting to accept that he'll be here when he's here rather than reading into every twinge I feel. I have just been upsetting myself. As a result so far I had a great night sleep last night and I'm much more cheerful and energetic today!

TheDetective · 06/11/2012 10:18
Shock

Errrrrm, maybe I was wrong. Ouch.

georgee · 06/11/2012 10:25

Ooh, detective, that ouch sounds hopeful ... keep us posted ...

Well now seems the cold/cough is the least of my worries. DD came down with vomiting this morning (4 times so far) so I expect we'll all get it before the week is out. Bucking the trend rather but I feel quite glad the baby's not here yet - hopefully we'll all get a chance to recover from our various ailments before s/he makes an appearance!

Lilliana · 06/11/2012 10:29

Waiting I have everything crossed for you and your DH. When will you find out if he got it?

Sophia hope things get moving again soon.

Sorry to those who are in pain or fed up, not long for any of us now!

We have water again! I no longer have an excuse not to get on with some jobs.

Peaky1 · 06/11/2012 10:30

Shelly I'm glad that rash seems to be calming slightly. I cringe with sympathy every time I read an update!

Pasties Sorry to hear you're feeling shitty. It's so easy to get cabin fever on top of all the usual gripes isn't it? I really want to go car shopping today to get it sorted before the baby arrives but at 40+6 with a sweep today I think it's a bit of a dumbass idea plus the sales reps won't appreciate my waters breaking inside their cars if I was lucky enough to go into labour. I hope you feel more cheery soon. Perhaps we should start telling jokes are sharing stories that would make us laugh (like the poo/fart thread that had me in stitches a while ago)

Waiting best of luck to your DH today!

I cannot even imagine trying to find my own cervix Shock

ditsygem · 06/11/2012 10:37

Detective that sounded a promising ouch, keep us updated!

TheDetective · 06/11/2012 10:48

Trying to decide if baby is just teasing me, or I need a poo. Probably still a poo. Really should just try and sleep.... gaaah!

kirrinIsland · 06/11/2012 11:03

peaky I'm going for the same approach - not reading anything into every twinge - and I feel so much better for it. The weekend was too stressful and disappointing what with trying to guess what was coming next, and in the end it was nothing!

Still getting some bloody show, it's been since Saturday, and not really how I expected it to be.

Good luck to your DH waiting

georgee same here DD started vomiting last night, and continued pretty much throughout the night... I slept with her in the spare bed, so I was next to her. DH had to get up at 6 for work. We're having a sofa day today, feel exhausted!

YokoUhOh · 06/11/2012 11:18

Lane massive sympathies, it's such a pain in the arse! We tried to get them to come earlier but they were busy...

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/11/2012 11:37

peaky good plan! Hoping something happens before your induction then fx for you.

I've just been for a walk along the beach/ round town with ds. Felt like I should do some form of exercise. Now I'm scoffing an iced bun with a cuppa tea Grin

FatimaLovesBread · 06/11/2012 11:50

Trying to catch up, started writing this post at 10am so I?ll post and carry on reading.
Detective and DH21 Glad it?s not just me Grin I tried to rootle the other day and couldn?t reach anything, I think I managed to reach it last night but only just.
Detective Last time I had a smear they couldn?t find my cervix, I had to put my fist under my lower back, then cough and eventually they found it. I remember thinking ?Good god, how big is it up there? A cave?? Grin
Talking of magnifying glass, I used the small bathroom mirror to help myself do my lady garden ast week, got a bit of a fright when it had flipped round to the magnifying side Shock

Pasties Sorry you?re feeling crappy, can you go for a walk, get you out of the house? DH has been having the car for work so when we went out on Saturday I felt like I?d been cooped up for ages. Sympathies with the broken dishwasher, don?t think I could live without mine.

Sophia Sorry things have slowed, I?m reading Ina May and in a slowed birth there a woman had a husband and a friend suck her nipples, not sure if you?d find a volunteer to suck your other nipple Hmm but maybe tweaking them or a breast pump like mrswee suggested?

YoKo It does sound like the show, or part of it, keep an eye on it.

I want a show

Passmethecrisps · 06/11/2012 11:56

I dreamt I had a show last night. No such luck just wet knickers from coughing suddenly.

Please, please someone tell me that a sore throat, stuffed nose and general feeling shiteness is a sign of impending labour rather than it just being a sodding crappy cold
