Oh Detective and Lolly - lots of luck to you ladies. It sounds like this could be it. On the 'if you don't want it to happen early, it will' logic - my one won't turn up til Christmas Eve at this rate :(.

Nervous lots of luck for your scan today and section tomo. My sis had two sections and both times her milk (well colostrum) came in straight away - don't worry Junior only needs colostrum.

GT hope you're home safe!

newbies hello and welcome / back - we do blether a lot on here so sorry for the fast pace.

Kirrin any news from your SIL?

YellowWellies · 18/10/2012 10:22

Georgee my DH thinks it's great and always asks me 'how the girls?' are. I half reckon he'd like to get an account himself as I'm picking up so much wisdom and amusement from you guys!

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 18/10/2012 10:27

Seems like there may be another few babies on the way!

I've been up all night coughing with this chest infection again so now DD is at nursery I'm away back to bed for a few hours.

Iheartpasties · 18/10/2012 10:27

My dh doesnt seem to get the thread at all. But he doesnt know funny it is most days!! ha!

StuntNun · 18/10/2012 10:37

Horsey thanks for the comparison to sheep and pigs. That made my day! Grin

Georgee it's great in the sense that we're all in it together pregnancy-wise but it's also great for the random stuff we get on here: kitten adoption, new furniture, landlord rants, misbehaving older DC. It's been an education, I have learned two new words: fanjo and vagine.

There is an advert on tv over here for a sports fan website thingy it is called Fango, and it makes me crack up every single time!!

georgee · 18/10/2012 10:49

Stuntnun Grin. Always useful to discover new words for that area I think, I've been at a loss as to what to call it with DD. At the moment she thinks boys have 'tails' and girls have 'bottoms'. Really not ideal, I'm trying to move onto pee-pee with boys but still am unsure how to refer to our lady parts when talking to a 2 year old!

And of course my early query on maternal hairiness/baby's gender was answered, I think by you actually, thanks!

Can't believe how many babies seem to be on their way over the next couple of days! Good luck ladies! I'm officially due 31 Oct but no sign of anything other than the odd BH and some intermittent period type pain.

detective it really sounds like you need this to be a false alarm, so I hope it is! littlelolly hope you are doing ok and to the ladies with CS tomorrow, all the very best - it looks like there will be a lot of non-November babies on this thread!

pasties - yes, the fango thing makes me chuckle every time it comes on the tv! :)

waves!!

MissMummy1 · 18/10/2012 11:13

Exciting stuff little and potentially detective!!

Feeling a million times better this morning. Him indoors now on leave so has made me pancakes this morning we can overlook the fact he forgot the eggs so they were minging. About to go for a shower while he knocks up another bach. I told him last night you ladies all think he's being a twat too, and despite the eyerolling I think it struck a chord. He's been wonderman this morning! Even offered to drive me to work tonight and wait in the car for 3 hours while I'm teaching!

Re all of us in the same room, I'd be the stroppy hormonal one in the corner. Blush

Iheartpasties · 18/10/2012 11:23

wellieboots dh tells me its gunna be mega hot tomorrow. I'm not lookimg forward to it! I am a mega grump in the heat atm.

Panckes without the egg?! isnt that wallpaper paste!! ;)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/10/2012 11:24

How's it going detective and lolly? Thinking of you today.

horsey I think my uterus is shaped more like an orange and there is nowehere to engage!! It just tumbles around any which way. I have days where I feel thoroughly engaged and days when I don't although the bump has most obviously moved south.

Feel better today than yesterday, I think that at about 5am the baby flipped back to LOA, am sending lots of prayers it now stays there. It did mean I was up from 5 though.

BREAKING NEWS

I think that DH has finally engaged with the fact I am having a baby. I sent him his birthplan and said in the title, he needed to read it In The event of anything happening or at least by 7th Nov. Anyway, a normal evening ensued. This morning I took him to work and he actually struck up a conversation about the birth! I was gobsmacked and went into hyper babble a little.

That and the flipping baby makes for a very happy snow fairy!

On internal relations mm I am so pleased you had a productive conversation with your DH

Loving the room analogy. I am finding this group brilliant, supportive through the ups and the downs, somewhere I can say what I think and there is always someone in our room on the dull maternity leave days that we all know we should be appreciating!!

Also...sorry am going on a bit detective that dress is lovely you will look ga in it and I bet you will be able to eBay it easily as well. Smile

Xx

blonderthanred · 18/10/2012 11:38

Pasties I love it when things from MN make you crack up IRL. I recently saw someone with a flash car and personalised number plate including the initials FMU. I thought, he's never looked on the Conception boards at MN!

I have my sweep at 4pm. My friend said hers put her into labour the next day so I have convinced myself this is IT - in reality they will probably have a little poke and say I'm not ready yet.

Bit worried about the baby's position as it seems to have moved but I can't work out what is where - it either has 2 bottoms or a really fat knee. Or else it's turned transverse, really hope not!

ShellyBobbs · 18/10/2012 11:44

I'm just so jealous, I want to be in labour now Envy Good luck to all you labouring women, I'll be thinking of you.

Hubby has phoned work and said he's having today and tomorrow off because he's worried about me and all the pain I'm in (just the usual), he has completely convinced himself that I'll be having it this weekend (I reckon about 2.5 weeks myself) and so has everything worked out. He is currently emptying our bedroom, cleaning it and re-arranging it, he keeps coming downstairs to stroke my arms Confused.

Iheartpasties · 18/10/2012 11:46

Oh yes! Number plates always seem to be MN related! I see so many!

Good luck with your sweep. Are you feeling calm about it? Apart from not knowing what position the baby is in.

ValiumQueen · 18/10/2012 11:46

MM pancakes with no egg sounds pretty grim! Nice thought though.

nervous my milk came in sooner after a section than after my first delivery. As said upthread, colostrum will be there, so no need to take milk. Much better for baby to be on boobie all the time.

alamaya welcome. You have come at a busy time!

AFM, a couple of pretty strong contractions again, but just fizzle out. Grr!

detective I think you are bluffing about not wanting baby to arrive yet. I remember you were planning to express from 37 weeks. Seems to be working good luck honey, and you must have a live birth thread!!!

StuntNun · 18/10/2012 11:52

Georgee go old fashioned and call them the 'front bottom'! My mum always referred to anything in the 'nether regions' by the correct anatomical terms. It's easy to say penis or bottom with boys but I don't know how she managed to say vagina to a young girl!

Off topic a bit but my dog won't stop farting. It's driving me round the bend. They're horrible stinky ones where you have to leave the room. I've ordered a different dog food for her but that will take a while to kick in.

I'm a little concerned that baby has moved position. Previously he was head down with his bum in the top-middle of my bump which seemed like a pretty good way to be. Now I don't know what he's doing in there. I almost wish I could look inside and see where he is.

georgee · 18/10/2012 11:54

... yes detective if in fact you could set up some sort of webcam contraption and then talk us through the birth in a midwife-stylee, I think that would be very educational and beneficial for us ladies who are preparing for birth. Wink

ShellyBobbs · 18/10/2012 11:56

I found out about my 'front bottom flatulence', it's all the bouncing on my ball with open legs. I stood up last night and out ripped a cracker, right in front of hubby Blush

My crochet needles have just arrived, off to youtube now to find out how to do it Grin

Iheartpasties · 18/10/2012 11:58

shelly bless your husband stroking your arm! is it annoying!!? :)

georgee · 18/10/2012 11:59

Yes good thinking Stunt, front bottom is as good as anything isn't it.

Farting dogs - we used to have one who ran away from herself every time it happened. Although obviously the fart would linger where she had been ...

Don't know about everyone else (while we're on the subject) but I've been producing some killer ones lately. Perhaps if I perfected a fast running away technique myself people might not realise they're coming from me? Although the fact that it would be more of a fast waddle would probably give me away as the culprit. In the (approximate) words of 'What to Expect when you're Expecting' (the book) - 'No-one does gas like a pregnant lady'. I read that when I was expecting my first and it stuck in my head!

ValiumQueen · 18/10/2012 12:02

Front bottom works for me. I do not think little girls need to know too much information too early. I call boy bits willies, and say they are little hosepipes for boys. DD1 is 6 and I am wondering when I need to tell her more detail. I was 9 when I started menstruating, and thought I was dying as had not been told a thing.

blonderthanred · 18/10/2012 12:03

Yes Stunt that's where mine was, now it's really confusing. Bump is quite hard so maybe that's just hiding it.

Pasties I am well nervous but mostly in denial. Got very jittery grumpy last night and shouted at DH when he asked if it was about dinner or something. So the denial is probably preferable. Have everything packed just in case.

I always find smears hurt and they have to use the smaller speculum so I am not convinced that the sweep is going to be much fun. DH and I have been doing perineal massage and I am really sensitive down there atm (sorry TMI).

ShellyBobbs · 18/10/2012 12:06

The trick Georgee is to know when you've stopped and then get away as fast as you can, I'd still be doing it and running away, plus it would be one of those arse stingers too that burn and really, really stink! Mine set off braxton hicks they are that bad Blush

Iheartpasties · 18/10/2012 12:12

blonder Detective had some good tips for a sweep/internal earlier on one of the threads - something about pillow under hips. Gosh cant quite remember - sorry.

shelly crocheting rocks! I love it!!! There are some lovely blogs around for inspiration :)

I managed about 15 mins on the sewing machine today. I will try and do more on saturday while dd is off with dh swimming.
