loopy hooray for the baby being the right way round! Clever baby! Did you use your stern inner voice like I did?!

hufflepuffle · 13/10/2012 12:58

Eeek, no way I'm watching Prometheus!!!!

Did try Tens on DH. Stupid combination of him being rather tougher than me but also a total woos ( I'm sure u catch my drift!!!) So at least we know it works!!!! Just the question of how we adjust intensity and the fear of the 'trigger' jolt!!!! I know, I know, imminent labour here.......!!! I'm not afraid of pain bubba will create, just amused and a bit Shock at having to push button to electrocute myself!!!! DHs first trial was on his hands...... There is a reason why they need to be 3 inches apart........ GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Oops.

Not dressed til 11.30?? Slovenly hussy..... ( Blush still in dressing gown trying to convince self to shower..... Well I've been busy, bouncing and chopping pineapple....)

Zara1984 · 13/10/2012 13:22

Hey ladies

PMSL at the Prometheus stuff Grin it was bad enough that DH made me watch Alien!!! Also LOL @ using TENS on the men. I should do that with mine!!! DH's initial suggestion was to stick it on his nether region, I was like "go on then, chicken"!

Well a slightly annoying turn of events for me. They picked up high blood pressure at my 38 week checkup yesterday, and again today (but no protein in urine) - about 150/100. Sad So I've been admitted to the pre-natal ward for overnight monitoring and to get given hypertension meds. Still no idea what will happen if my BP doesn't go down by tomorrow, they won't tell me! Bonus: the food is nice (roasted crispy chicken for lunch, and raspberry jelly & ice-cream! Grin ) and so are the staff. And have got my Kindle and my phone at least!

It's mostly ok here except I keep getting the faint whiff of poop on the ward Confused I don't know where it's coming from!! And of course I'd rather be at home with DH and my kitties!

38+1, trapped in hospital

Zara1984 · 13/10/2012 13:24

Randomly smelling poop is not a sign of pre-eclampsia, is it?!?! Confused Blush

hufflepuffle · 13/10/2012 13:51

Awww, poor Zara. Hope all settles and u get home again. Nah, don't think random smell of poop is PE symptom, think is one of the joys of hospital!!!! Good luck. Oh and PMSL at DH considering Tens on bits...... As we hav said before, why r we so worried about looking after children when we've all been dealing with them for years????!

Chin up, BP down please. Xx xx

Cherrychopsticks · 13/10/2012 14:33

So glad all is right side up Loopy, you must be very relieved. I would have freaked out too.

Oh no Zara! Hope your blood pressure comes down ASAP (though whiffs of poo are exactly conducive to relaxation!) Thanks

Squid, Jess is gorgeous! She looks a lot like her mummy Smile

Congratulations Milk! Thanks Welcome to the world, William!

Glad you got a bit more sleep last night Yomping.

I've had a very nice day today - DH got back from France this morning bearing dried apricots, red wine, chocolate, goats cheese and trashy magazines. What more could I ask for?!
Sewed another set of bunting flags (2 sets down, 1 to go) whilst watching crap that I love on catch up.
Then an hour in the pool before a big pasta and all-you-can-eat pizza dinner. We were quite restrained really, but I'm still stuffed and contemplating opening the chocolate Blush

Just joined the Facebook group finally. Couldn't resist the promise of all the cute baby pics. Grin

Cherrychopsticks · 13/10/2012 14:36

"are NOT exactly conducive to relaxation", is of course what I meant to say Zara!

Zara1984 · 13/10/2012 14:44

And here I was cherry deeply inhaling the poo smells to help put me in a zen-calm state Wink

Worringly I'm starting to feel a bit headachy (very mild though) and a bit sweaty/out of it. Have had water to drink and a bit of a walk around, but it's not helping. Will mention to the midwife when she comes and checks on me. Confused

hufflepuffle · 13/10/2012 14:45

Very amusing typo there Cherrychopsticks!!!!!!

Just off out, down to work (but only to pick up my delivery of Earth Mama Bottom Spray-hope no one accidentally opened THAT package!! Blush Shock!!!!!) Then as the sun is shining a walk on the beach, then out for curry!!!!! Maybe I should be happy to wait for a while and just hav lovely days out with DH for next 2 weeks!!!

Hasta luego!

Zara1984 · 13/10/2012 14:45

Also cherry am so jealous of your French haul!!! Top marks for your DH!

Cherrychopsticks · 13/10/2012 15:06

Sounds great Huffle, enjoy!

Zara, at least you're in the best place. If you get well soon, I might share my cheese with you! Grin

Beeblebear · 13/10/2012 15:24

Morning all. First day of mat leave. All done from work! Yay.

Have class all day today though. The part where we learn about actual babies!. Eek!

Funny story about poo smell. At our summer cottage there is a dairy farm that makes it's own ice cream. We would go there lots for special treats. Now anytime I smell cow poo I get relaxed feeling of summer and crave ice cream!

Dh watched prometheous this week, but as I had a ready been properly warned I promptly went to bed.

39+1 and no signs of impending doom here.

Orenishii · 13/10/2012 15:26

Zara if there's anyway you can a) stomach it and b) someone can smuggle it in you, raw garlic is very good for lowering high blood pressure :) I was measuring very high a few weeks ago and it really helped. I wouldn't want to suggest it in case your high BP is symptomatic of something else - but then again if it was, the garlic wouldn't help anyway - but if you did want to try it, it definitely worked for me.

huffle what on earth is Bottom Spray??

Shellwedance · 13/10/2012 16:10

Hello,

Have been lurking away but being fairly boring so no news from me.

Hurrah for maternity Beeble!

Yes, Huffle what IS bottom spray? Quite scared that this might be something I need!

Very jealous of all your treats Cherry.

Hope you're doing OK Zara, food sounds good, poo does not. But I guess we're all going to get used to it soon enough.

My DP did try the Tens machine too, he was pretty impressed with the boost function.

Ooh, yes, we went to see Prometheus, thought exactly the same about running around after the 'birth' Yomping.

Sorry not to catch up with everyone but on phone and very limited memory.

So, 39+1 today. Not many signs, a few braxton hicks and the occasional back pain. Really ready for baby to come now and my Aunt is a reflexologist so she's going to have a try for me at the end of the week.

hufflepuffle · 13/10/2012 21:06

BOTTOM SPRAY. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002XHFD78/ref=mp_s_a_1?pi=SL75&qid=1350158365&sr=8-1

My quest the other week to find out what essential oils to put in a rinse post birth to help my bits heal and help prevent infection led me to this!!!! There was a 'balm' version too, but Shock and Confused at how on earth one might apply a balm.....???? Was one of the lovelies on here that linked me to the balm but was v late at night and I cannot rmbr who!!!!

So there you go, that explains my bottom spray!!!

Walk done, curry well and truly enjoyed. Bumpy road driven up and down (suspension in our car too good to make much of the last one- DH suggests we do it on motorbike instead.......!!!!????!) But hav sneaking suspicion I'll be going nowhere for quite a while yet!!

Zara1984 · 13/10/2012 21:34

huffle that bum spray looks like the business! Defo not one you'd want random people at your work opening though Wink

orenishii I'm willing to give anything a go! When I get discharged tomorrow I might go munch on some Grin

Well slightly positive news here - my last 2 BP readings this evening were about 140/88, which is a bit lower than before! They might be giving me more meds tonight. I asked midwife if my BP stays like this does it mean I can go home tomorrow morning?? Once again got the line "depends on what the doctor says". Le sigh.

Hot as hades on the ward...

Slightly off-putting being on the same ward as women in early labour.... It sounds ouchy Confused

Zara1984 · 13/10/2012 22:13

Also have located source of poo smell. A vent above my head. Eww.

Londonmrss · 13/10/2012 23:33

Zara, just wanted to send hugs. Glad it's going down. Hope you get some sleep. Do you have an ipod or something? Maybe some hypnobollocks would belp?

OP posts:
smileyhappymummy · 14/10/2012 04:52

zara hope you're getting some sleep despite the poo smell, and sending you bp lowering thoughts!
Looking forward to seeing you all on post natal thread soon!

Beeblebear · 14/10/2012 04:53

Ugh. Over the las t couple days I have started to retain water big time. My joints are achy, and my wrists are swollen kicking up the carpal tunnel. If I sit wrong my feet go numb annd... when I walk, the top of my feet jiggle ewwwwwww.. So done!

Zara1984 · 14/10/2012 05:04

Eek beeble I know what that's like (big jiggly swollen feet). I recommend you employ my patented foot shaking technique (looks like what a dog does after peeing on a lamppost) to wake your feet up and move the fluid around a bit. Sexxxxy Grin

Thank you for the moral support everyone!! Have got about 3 hours of sleep but unsurprisingly a hospital ward is not as relaxing as my own bed and have been awake since 3.30am. Fortunately it's quiet as all labouring ladies went on to delivery by 11pm, now there's just non-labouring inmates like me!

They didn't give me any more hypertension meds. I guess it's wait and see until the doctor's rounds in the AM. Not sure what time that is. I have 2 preferences now: (1) home in the morning or (2) induction. Fuck being kept in here another night or more. Do they really think putting a 38 week pregnant woman on a hard squeaky hospital bed for days on end is a good idea?!?! Seems like a couple of ladies here have been in for more than a few days.... No thanks....

On the plus side I caught up on ALL my kindle reading by midnight! Grin

LoopyLa · 14/10/2012 07:02

Thank you ladies for your support, please accept these Thanks all round

Congrats on finally being on mat leave londonlivvy, Beeble & Zara, must be such a relief! Zara how are you? Will they release you today, do you think? You must be exhausted Sad

Beeble in the last few weeks, I seem to have developed huge clown feet & hands, I was never an ultra slim person but I seemed to have lost my bone definition in my extremities now Confused

Grin at Beccus & bum-head baby, yes I was a bit Confused so just hope I don?t mix the ends up when the baby?s out!!! Can?t imagine a nappy on their head will stop their crap in the tracks!!! Wink And I worship at your feet, oh God Of Wine Wink Wine

squid good advice on TENS machine, especially as I rented the one you recommended. I don?t want to be confused by technology when I?m in labour! Did you have a practice run?

Grin Grin at distressed beetle bella, this is so true for me too ? practically every time I clamber in & out of bed!

huffle my baby frequently has crazy wriggling moments that distorts my whole bump so I shout down my top that ?you?re not coming out my belly button matey, so don?t even think about it!!? It seems to help Hmm

crazy I used my stern outer voice and now, as I bounce on my birthing ball (by the way, does this encourage wind? I swear it has?!!! Blush) I?m using same voice ?to engage baby, c?mon you can do it!!? Think my DH probably thinks I?ve finally lost it? Shock

38 weeks today - EEEEK! How's my due date buddy Kyrria? Special love to you

And Yomping any signs of baby appearing for you?

Zara1984 · 14/10/2012 08:54

GOING HOME THIS MORNING! Grin Just waiting for my hypertension med prescription then I think I can go... Got to go into the day unit for a few hours tomorrow.

Tried to exert psychological influence on the doc by being showered, dressed & bag packed when he came to do an early round Wink

Going to much on some garlic and keep my feet up more when I get home... do not fancy a repeat of the past 24 hours. Next time I'm in here I want to be snuggling my little boy Smile

hufflepuffle · 14/10/2012 08:56

Yay Zara!!!!! Great news!!

squidkid · 14/10/2012 09:06

yay zara!!!!! so happy for you. speaking as a (junior) doc, we make lots of decisions based on whether patients are up and dressed and presentable! and i bet surgeons are far easier to influence than us clever medics Grin

will catch up with everyone else in a mo xx
