Kyyria · 04/10/2012 11:25

Mmmm...me too!

Cherrychopsticks · 04/10/2012 11:33

Thanks Huffle, maybe if I don't cook the cauliflower too much first it'll be ok. But I could eat it either way, as long as it's extra cheesey!Grin
TBH I'm doubting it'll make it to the freezer...

Londonmrss · 04/10/2012 12:47

CWest, big hugs to you. I agree that you're coping brilliantly. Won't be long til she's at home with you. Soon she'll be at the stage where if she'd been born now she would have been full term!
I just clicked accidentally on one of my old bookmarks for Part 4 of our thread and saw loads of names of people who don't post here anymore! Hope they're all ok! Maybe they just got bored of our moaning?

OP posts:

Pregnancy hormones suck - in floods of tears watching the news!

hufflepuffle · 04/10/2012 13:29

Just had shower and dried my LOVELY hair!! I kno we are all totally pissed off with being cumbersome and tired but I will totally miss this fabulous thick wash once weekly hair!!! My real hair is total pants....... Thin and lank. Think there is any remote chance I might keep it?????

Londonmrss I wonder that too.... One day I nosied on other October thread (felt like total stalker or creep) and did see some names there we used to know!!!! Also worry about what may hav happened but don't like to think about too much. Guess some people just aren't social sharers too!

God I am BORED............

CWest30 · 04/10/2012 13:37

So........the nurse in charge of my babys care in the ICU assured me yesterday that if I was put on bed rest due to my high bp, they would bring the baby up to my room as I know how to tube feed her etc.

That nurse is not in today. I've been put on bed rest and the Drs in ICU won't let my baby come up to my room. The tube might dislodge was their first reason. Ok I said, well can't she come up in between feeds? No. I need to rest and I won't be resting if I'm laying here looking at my baby. Sorry I beg to differ. I WILL BE MORE RELAXED BECAUSE THE STRESS OF BEING SEPERATED FROM MY BABY AND BEING BACK IN HOSPITAL AWAY FROM MY SON IS PROBABLY WHAT'S CAUSING THIS STUPID HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!!!!!! But they're the "experts" what can you do?
I just keep crying. Feel like I'm BADLY letting DS down by not being at home and I'm struggling to bond with my beatiful baby as I'm hardly caring for her myself, complete strangers are. All that stuff about babies knowing their mums voice and smell keeps upsetting me coz she must wonder where mummy is. Will this ever end??? :( :( :(

CWest30 · 04/10/2012 13:39

kyria watch out for the post natal hormones that kick in a couple of days after birth. They're worse.

Kyyria · 04/10/2012 13:44

Sending huge hugs Cwest - can't begin to imagine how frustrating it must all be for you xxx

hufflepuffle · 04/10/2012 13:56

More huge hugs fom me too Cwest , this is all so hard. You will get there, you all will. Xx

Cherrychopsticks · 04/10/2012 14:02

Even more hugs CWest Thanks
I don't know when it'll be over, but when it is, you'll never have to think of this time again.

YompingJo · 04/10/2012 14:15

Oh CWest, I want to give you a massive hug. You poor girl. It's horrible to be told one thing by someone and then another by someone else who hasn't spoken to the first someone. I know it must be hard to accept right now, but it WILL get better. It will. Everything always does. Nothing lasts forever although it can seem like it at the time - and there may be a shred of truth in what they are saying, rest will definitely do you good, even though its not what you want right now. Your little baby is being well looked after and I don't think she'll be distressed by not hearing your voice for a bit, there will be a lot for her to take in at the moment and she will need to do a huge amount of resting and sleeping. Your DS knows how much you love him and he will cope just fine, he will have forgotten all about it all the minute you get home.

Is your DH there to support you some of the time as well as looking after DS at home? I hope there is someone there for you. I want to march over and be there for you! (not that I know where you are and not that you'd want some weird person from MN turning up out of the blue!). Sending you some virtual Thanks cos that's the best I can do.

Well I went to my antenatal exercise class and was the only one there - went along thinking I'd take it easy and basically got a 1 on 1 personal training session! Was good though. Now to battle the midwife over my due date (tomorrow my arse, and the message has definitely not got through to the baby who is showing no signs of wanting to enter into the world any time soon!)

londonlivvy · 04/10/2012 14:16

Oh Cwest this must be incredibly hard for you. I can't imagine how hard. Poor you. Can you have a muslin in your bed that then picks up your smell that can then go in baby's ICU bassinet thingy? Or does it all have to be super sterile? Sorry for ignorance - just a suggestion. I am sure, though, that even if this takes a week or two, you'll get her home and you'll bond. You will. Some mums adore their babies at first glance, others take weeks - none of us know which camp we were in (ie how our mums felt about us), because it doesn't matter. It matters what kind of mum you are over the long term. And I'm sure (given the amount of thought you have given / are giving DS) that you are a fab mum. Be kind to yourself my lovely. Try and take some deep breaths and hopefully your lovely nurse will be back on duty soon.

Huffle all the books I've read say the lush hair goes, sorry...

Kyyria Lots of books you want to read? Buy Xmas pressies? Write envelopes for Xmas cards? Ooh there's stacks of things I'd love to do if not at work (mutters to self... 6 days to go... 6 days to go...)

bella chuckling at your cabbage leaves down top story. that would so happen to me.

smiley I hope all has gone well!

cherry thanks re strep B. Am wondering whether to pay for the test or not. As I say, she's american so possibly lower tolerance for risk. But seems like an easy thing to sort if it is the case?

crazy is it happening??

oh Beeble I feel your pain onthe work front. how stressful re your other half though. GRR.

planktonette hope mini plankton is out of ICU soon and family is all united.

yomping sending you labour vibes and hope it happens soon. I definitely understand the phrase "heavily pregnant" now.

Today am STILL battling with solicitors about my flat. SIGH. I do not understand why upstairs has taken 6 weeks to agree to sign over the freehold to her and to the new owners of my flat. What difference does it make to her who co-owns the freehold? Why would she want me to retain a share of the freehold?? I do not need this. stamps foot and will probably have to go round to my old flat and see if the sight of a heavily pregnant woman will guilt trip her into getting her act together.

37, 36 weeks today!

YompingJo · 04/10/2012 14:32

Funny blog post: You know you have a newborn when...

Lizzietow · 04/10/2012 15:05

Trying to catch up with the thread...kyria yep I've also been in floods of tears today watching the news!

39 weeks tomorrow. So fed up. Back ache, generally knackered all the time... Never doing this again!

Really feel for you with babies in ICU. But the time does go so quick. Before you know it you'll all be home together, a lovely little family Grin

Lizzietow · 04/10/2012 15:07

cwest meant to say that the docs shouldn't be making that decision for you! You're right-you'd feel so much better being able to see your beautiful baby xx

WantAnOrange · 04/10/2012 16:11

Cwest that's horrible Sad. I'm sure your baby is getting great care and knows nothing about it but its horrible for you! This won't last forever. x

YompingJo · 04/10/2012 16:20

Have returned victorious! Midwife agreed that due date set by scan is dubious and we won't start talking about booking induction yet. Unoficially going back to original due date of 12th October so am 39 weeks again tomorrow, not 40! Sick of being pregnant so in a way this feels like a step backwards but equally, delighted not to have to start fighting off induction talk quite yet as I feel very strongly that baby will come when it is good and ready.

10 babies! Grin

MrsConfusion · 04/10/2012 16:58

Haven't had a chance to read any catch ups since Sunday, but wanted to let you all know that our darling daughter was born 1.46am on Monday 1st October, weighing 7lbs and 3/4 oz. After being induced on Sunday night, it all went off rather like a freght train, leading to a mad midnight dash for DH to get back to the hospital, me being rushed from ward to delivery suite to theatre for forceps delivery, but the key thing is all is well with our beautiful daughter, and we're now home and getting settled into family life.

Even DH pointed out we only just made it into October by the skin of our teeth, and asked if that meant I would be thrown off the thread!

I'll try to catch up on all the other news, hopefully more babies have arrived and all are well. Missed you ladies!

WantAnOrange · 04/10/2012 17:07

11 babies! Shock

slow down!

Grin
Midgetm · 04/10/2012 17:21

Blimey - I turn my back for a couple of days and babies are coming out from everywhere...

MrsC Congratualtions - can't wait to hear more from you - hope you and your lovely little girl are settling in nicely at home now.

Huffle That BP is positively healthy - mine is sometimes much much lower and nobody ever says a word - should I be worried?

Cwest So sorry that you are being parted from both your DC's - this is truly bollocks but it will soon pass and you also need to look after yourself. I do think the tube excuse is quite frankly a bit rubbish. DD had a tube when she was born for a few weeks - in fact we even brought her home with it still in and were shown how to do it ourselves. Not trying to pour oil on troubled waters but if you feel very strongly I would push for them to change their minds. I think being parted is far more likely to affect your BP too. I also was kept in becasue of PET going crazy so high BP and liver going wonky but nobody ever suggested my baby would affect my BP. I really feel for you honey and I too, want to come over and give you all a big hug. but not like a stalker. It will all pass soon though and your little family will all be together.

beeble So sorry you have all this stress with your poor DH. Been through something similar myself early on in my pregnancy and it is really tough - hard to be compassionate and supportive when we are also so very needy ourselves right now. I know it doesn't seem like it now but it will get better - just focus on your and the baby for now.

I need to read right back but is it baby Plankton who is also is SCBU? Sending you all my virtual good vibes - they are such amazing places with great staff. I hope you are coping and both being well looked after.

Right I really don't have time to catch up anymore as just got back from my course and still have to catch up with work. Off tomorrow and then 3 working days to go till I clock off. Can't fecking wait - I am really over it. Commisserations to anyone else still standing - it really is becoming a right drag isn't it? People today were saying how energetic I must be and all I was thinking was what a total nobber I am!

Waves and runs off to do more boody work x
