Bathilda... OMG! Twins!!!!!! Arrrrrggghhhhh!!! But, do you know what? How bloody amazing!!! Fantastic... xx

kittykatskumkwat · 03/10/2012 14:22

So sorry to hear your news weather Sad take care of yourself
Congrats bathilda I bet that was a Shock moment! Are they seperate and does it run in your family?

jenpenod · 03/10/2012 14:23

weather so sad to hear your news and thinking of you x

I'm just home from a two night stay in hospital....been diagnosed with hyperemesis after ending up in a&e severely dehydrated. Feeling a bit better now after being pumped full of liquids and vitamins. It was a relief to be on a drip and to not have to worry about throwing up everything I eat and drink. I started on some anti-sickness meds too. They're not doing anything for the nausea but definitely getting physically sick less than before. FX it will die down in another few weeks.

On a more positive note, I had a scan during my stay at the Early Pregnancy Unit. Saw a tiny bean-shape and a heartbeat. Quite fascinating!

So grateful that MN and these forums exist....I think without them, I would have thought my level of vomiting was normal and not gone to get help. So thanks to you all!

CheerfulYank · 03/10/2012 14:46

Glad you're starting to feel better Jen.

Oh weather. FX for good news around Christmas.

Welcome Bathilda! Twins, how exciting! How old are your 3 boys?

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/10/2012 14:54

Terracotta Yes am really not too sure.I didnt find out with the boys as they don't tell you where im originally from. However,i bought blue both times before they were born as i just knew.

JenPen Glad you are feeling a little better.Hope it clears soon for you.

beaver33 · 03/10/2012 15:19

JenPen glad you're feeling better.

On a similar MS note, I have a question. Does anyone else have MS that kind of comes and goes depending on the day? I've been feeling pretty horrendous most days, near-constant nausea and much throwing up.

But today....nearly nothing. Doesn't mean I actually feel like eating anything other than sultana cookies but I haven't wanted to be sick.

Prob just being paranoid as I've got my eyes on the 12-week scan prize (2 weeks and four days to go...) but that variation doesn't mean anything, does it?

RTchoke · 03/10/2012 15:23

Weather - so sorry about your news. Take care of yourself.

Jen - I'd been wondering how you were doing. I'm sorry you have hyperemisis but glad you've got meds. Is it Zofran? Apparently Zofran is the Holy Grail of hyperemisis meds. I hope you continue to feel better.

Bahilda - twins! Congrats! Did you have any inkling? I'm obsessed that mine might be twins but I suspect I'm just being dramatic. Are yours in the same sac or separate?

wilderumpus · 03/10/2012 15:37

jen am so glad you have got sorted! I didn't think it sounded quite right but last thing i heard from you I think you had eaten something and were fairly confident it was ok! yay for anti sickness meds, are they working?

beaver I have nausea not sickness but it comes and goes through the day (morning and between 3-5 then again around 6 seem to be bad times!) and if I am tired is worse. Today I have had hardly any though, I think it is hormone related :) Never fear!

shelly81 · 03/10/2012 15:54

beaver mines like that & i asked the midwife at work & she said its completely normal as your hormones fluctuate Grin xx

Vickles · 03/10/2012 15:55

Re Sickness... I always keep my breakfast down. Lunch mostly stays down, apart from today! Hello jacket potatoe and beans!!! The, nearly always throw dinner up. Then, have cereal and toast around 8pm, and that mostly stays down!
I love freezing cold water from the fridge.... Have had coffee and tea, but can only stomach it in the morning.
I was super sick with no3... my little boy... it was great actually as I went from a size 22 to a size 18! I felt fine, apart from being sick throughout the day.. but, (TMI) I don't tend to chuck everything up, if that makes sense. I'm making sure I'm drinking plenty and eating lots of baked beans, spinach and veges, and drinking fruit juices.
i'm sick a few times a day and I feel sick most of the day.. but, it doesn't affect me, if that makes sense. i just carry on and get used to it. Go and throw up, then feel better for a bit, then the waves of nausea come back.

Jen - glad things are getting better for you. An old friend was horrendously sick, couldn't keep a thing down, and could only lie down on the sofa. She was hospitalised for a few days.... she was so down too... I was very worried about her. But, the acute sickness passed after a while.

Picklep · 03/10/2012 16:02

Glad you're on the mend jen, wow pregnancy really puts us through it!

My ms tends to kick off now until i go to bed, during day i crave all sorts of food for dinner but when it comes to it, i can't be anywhere near the kitchen. Last night i had plain ham sandwich and it was great, no probs so I'm having it again tonight.

On a diff note, I am due to have my brows and lashes tinted tomorrow, is this safe? Or should I wait until after 12 weeks. Also are highlights OK? Or again should i wait until after 12 weeks?

jenpenod · 03/10/2012 16:13

widle I think I wrote that last post during a very small break in the vomiting! Definitely spoke too soon as it come back a vengeance straight after that and I had a hellish couple of days before I ended up in hospital.

RT They're trying me on a drug called Cyclizine first. I mentioned Zofran but they seemed reluctant (probably a cost issue). If this particular drug doesn't work, they try another and another etc.

I'd like to say I feel great but the drugs seem to have other undesirable side effects. For the hour or so after I take them, my heart races and I feel anxious/panicked and the nausea isn't going anywhere.....but I haven't vomited yet today so there's an improvement there.

My main concern is that I've been off work for three days and don't see when I'll be able to go back. Within seconds of standing up, I feel like I'm going to pass out from the dizziness. Personal hygiene has gone out the window and I just feel totally useless. I need to get back on my feet....and get back to work!!! My goal for today is to have a bath - it must sound stupid to have such a tiny goal but I honestly will feel happy if I manage it.

I feel like I'm a failure at being pregnant. Shouldnt I be glowing by now? :/

wilderumpus · 03/10/2012 16:27

jen you are poorly, not useless. HG is serious and not a piddly side effect of pregnancy. You are doing your best! put one foot in front of the other if you can bear it, get signed off by the dr and recover. :) x good luck with your bath, I hope it is lovely!

RTchoke · 03/10/2012 16:48

Oh Jen I feel so bad for you. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to feel as you do. Wilde is right, HG is serious (it killed Charlotte Bronte - before the days of drips). You have to just take care of yourself and forget about work until you feel better. Don't let the NHS fob you off either. Cyclizine is fine (I've had it and it did stop me vomiting in both my labours) but if you need something stronger then get your DH to demand it (I say your DH because I assume you feel too weak to demand anything) and repeat "I am not a failure, I am coping amazingly with a truly horrible condition".

RTchoke · 03/10/2012 16:50

Just to add I haven't even been sick today but decided I couldn't cope at work and am now home in bed while the nanny sorts my girls out. Now that's pathetic...

BeauticianNotMagician · 03/10/2012 17:04

Jen Dont be hard on yourself. My boss had hyperemis and was completely floored. She lost a stone and her dad thought she was having a breakdown(no one knew she was pregnant). It cleared up for her at 14 weeks. You need to rest and i wouldnt worry about how you look as long as you feel as ok as you can.Stay in your pjs all day and look after yourself.

Pickle Perfectly fine to have eyelashes tinted throughout pregnancy.Highlights arent a problem either as the dye doesnt touch your scalp.Gosh i couldnt go nine months with my hair not done Grin

I feel rather bad as everyone seems to be suffering ms on here and i am not.I had my fair share with the boys but worry that it means something may be up this time.Although am enjoying not having it so i won't wish it upon myself.
8+5

Picklep · 03/10/2012 17:18

thanks beaut, my roots are starting to give away something is up! Also, with feeling so bloated and sickie I feel like I need a pick-me-up, nothing does that better for me than having my hair done. My hair is so oily at the moment too which is annoying!

MaybeAMayBaby · 03/10/2012 18:21

Weather- I am truly sorry. Words don't really seem enough...

Jen-urgh at you ordeal! It makes me feel a little bit daft moaning.

I was in tears at work today (luckily not in front of kids) as I'm in so much pain. I have had a cold and terrible cough for well over a week now. Last night at 3am I pulled something in my neck. My whole back has locked up and I can't move! The pain is all down my leg and up round my ear. My DH does a little physio and has tried to get it to unlock, but the pain when he presses on it is excruciating. And I can't take any painkillers!
I got home and lay on bed for an hour and it's eased up a bit. The GP won't be able to do anything though, right? Fed up. And I'm so panicky all the time. I feel stupid telling colleagues at work. I keep playing over and over telling them the worst.
I don't remember this last time!

Bunnychan · 03/10/2012 19:40

maybe I feel for you! I've had a cold for a week and swollen throat glands but I've been soldiering on and teaching too. It must be a nightmare to have hurt you kneck.
beautician no ms for me either and I agree that it can be worrying but I don't want it either.
My exhaustion is starting to kick in now; everyday I think that I cant get any tired but I do x

LittleBairn · 03/10/2012 19:57

Jen take care of yourself and don't underestimate Hypermisser my mum had it with me her whole pregnacy and still talks about it with horror.

maybeA I would go to GP he might be able to give advice on how to relieve the pain. Or maybe try a Chiropractor.

I'm feeling a bit better today, but still really knackered.

seven77 · 03/10/2012 20:29

weather I'm so sorry, hope you get some good news soon x

little I've heard of lap books, what exactly are they?

RT hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon, at least the end result is worth what we have to put up with.

We've had a very stressful day, I shan't get into the long story but the short version is that we borrowed a large sum of money from my parents on the understanding when we sold our flat we'd pay them back. They're in the process of buying a house, they need the money but we don't have it yet, if they do g get it by Friday they'll lose the new house and seem to think its our fault despite a contract that says we have another 3 years to pay them back.

Anyway, Chinese and weak shandy is helping!

LittleBairn · 03/10/2012 20:43

seven basically you choose a topic, you get a folder and you collect / add info into in the form of pictures/ diagrams/ little booklets and pockets.
I use brown A4 sized wallet folders that are sturdy the kids glue and Sellotape pockets and info into them. They are really proud of their work and often suggest that's what they do. I suspect we will spend more time on the as the dark nights return.

It's very age adaptable some of the older kids projects look amazing but even my kids at 3,4 and 5 do pretty impressive work.

Here is where I got the info from:
www.flickr.com/groups/lapbooking/

LittleBairn · 03/10/2012 20:47

Shock] seven I read shandy wrong...I was impressed with your energy levels. Grin

That's pretty awful from your parents, you had an agreement it's unfair to change the rules now!

PedanticPanda · 04/10/2012 08:18

Is anyone showing at all yet? I'm really bloated and it's making me look like I'm already showing.

I'm off to the doctors today to find out about these headaches, I spent all day in bed yesterday because it was so bad.
