I think I've been guilty of some stereotyping today. I told DH about when I was a teenager and had sleepovers and we would sing awful songs into a microphone and stay up all night giggling. He has declared he needs a "man shed" Grin

Emus · 02/10/2012 17:07

Hi everyone,

Quick update from me. I am completely ecstatic and on cloud 9 today after hearing our little beans heartbeat for the first time. Midwife appointment went really well and she was very reassuring when I went through my stresses and fears. Was so amazing to hear the heartbeat as I think I had convinced myself something was wrong! I'm actually having a away!! Whoop. Getting excited now but still need to calm down as it there's still a way to go yet (16+5 today).

Zoey' hope you start to feel better soon, it's horrible when you feel like shite and have daily chores to do. I'm glad you have a supportive DH.

Stealth what a tw*t he sounds. I hope he is digging his own grave.

Sundae I'm big too and was also worried that the Mw wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat as I carry my weight around my hips And stomach (my scan was a bit difficult for this reason) however once she did find it (baby kept darting out of the way) it was extremely loud and clear to the point that I was thinking 'wouldn't it have been great if the scan was like is'! Baby also had hiccups so the midwife said! Good luck with yours.

Em I know what you mean about work worries, I have a similar thing in that I know next year it's all change and I won't be around to lead the way so that'll fall to someone else so I'm worried I won't be able to fit back into my place when I return. We have to have more faith in ourselves I think!

Manda I'm a full day behind on work now but should get my rebuilt mac back tomorrow - hopefully working otherwise I really am screwed. Will have to work late for the rest of the week to catch up.

Pink that made me giggle - Coriander Worktoo! I was actually starting to wonder what this was!!

Emus · 02/10/2012 17:08
  • having A Baby even (not having a away!)
IWantAChipButty · 02/10/2012 18:19

Glad to hear everyone is getting on well at midwife appointments, I had mine today it was less than tens minutes and my midwife isn't very chatty, oh well everything was fine so that's the main thing! Is anyone gender guessing based on heart rate? Baby's was 144 so not really sure what to make of that!

I'm very jealous of those of you feeling kicks, how far along are you? I'm hoping I will start to feel them soon!

Another one who hates gender stereotyping, its the main reason we are team yellow because I'm already fed up of people saying "oh once you find out we can start buying lots pink/blue!" Or saying I will need to buy a gender specific pram etc urgh!

JoJoBella84 · 02/10/2012 18:49

I did it, I did it, I did it!!!
I injected my own fragmin - all by myself - no heavy handed OH to create a 2 inch bruise on my thigh!!! I'm going to do it from now on... It was a much better experience today :)

Today has been a tough day, I may have overdone the short walks for the past two days and have been wiped out and requiring the stronger pain relief, have barely shifted from the couch since my mid morning drug induced nap!!

tiddley. I'm hugely relieved to be half way there but I do find myself counting down the days to viability - probably due to the surgery but I'll be relieved to reach my next milestone and am having my anomaly scan on 10th - it will be a relief to see baby and I really hope these flumps I'm feeling are the firsts movements as I'm finding them really reassuring!!

sheldon that comment was quite frankly uncalled for, how can you possibly tell what a baby looks like based on a scan picture. Don't let her get to you !

TheAngelshavetheOod · 02/10/2012 18:50

Just place marking

Sheldonella · 02/10/2012 19:35

Thanks pink and JoJo I wondered if I was being nuts but DH agreed too. She is usually really nice so I don't know what went on there.

I have just eaten a huge plate of spaghetti in about 3 minutes - soooo what I needed but I'm still hungry!

Glad you heard the lovely heartbeats today possom, Emus and ChipButty. I was predicted a boy based on heartbeat but it is most definitely a girl. possom your bus service is as expensive as mine, I'm so glad I don't have to use it for work every day.

How lovely that you will have two close in age tiddley

Well done on the injecting JoJo Definitely stay on the couch all evening too.

ps. baby brain moment - I just posted all of this on a completely irrelevent thread by mistake Blush Oh well I got to report my post for the first time.

JoJo Well done you!

Zoey and Shel hope you're feeling better and a bit more posative today, and anyone else hwo was feeling grotty, down, emotional etc.!

Manda How goes the book? Hope it's nrealy ready for the off and you can start looking forward to rewarding yourself.

Emus The bloom has certainly passed me by so far. Spots galor, hair malting all over the place, rubish nails and still sicky, so you're not alone! Not that I'd hope for other still to feel grotty, but I feel a bit better when I realise they do. And makes me remember I shouldn't whinge so much too!

Really strugling with trapped wind tonight, ouch. Took my last windeeeze earlier today and mint tablets not having any effect. Need to work out where on earth the hot waterbottles are. Clearly I'm not up to JoJo's standards of expelling gas (I'd be reading those notes over agai just to laugh to myself, brilliant!).

FloweryBoots · 02/10/2012 20:01

Ooo, welcome myjobismum, didn't see your post there. We are due date buddies!

Emus · 02/10/2012 20:06

Congratulations MyJob and welcome - we're a friendly chatty lot! I'm nearly 17 week, due on 13th March and this is our first DC :-).

Emus · 02/10/2012 20:09

Don't talk to me about trapped wind Flowery! Oh the glamour! People seem amazed when they ask me how I'm feeling and I say that I've still to ms!

Emus · 02/10/2012 20:09

*got!

TeaOperated · 02/10/2012 20:10

Hello ladies... I've been quiet for a while but sneaking on here now because I feel I've just been a complete bitch to DH and can't decide if I have a leg to stand on... Was having a massive craving for those M&S pastry jam puffs, so asked him to nip out for some (3 mins from our flat but he was already in pjs). He came back claiming they didn't have any, holding these disgusting looking things that are basically jam tarts with cake on top.

I said "what are they?" but left it when he explained, but 5 min later, once he'd changed again, he found me staring at them, debating going out myself. He hadn't asked a member of staff if they had the puffs, they're generally not with the other biscuits.

Yes, he's now back to m&s...

In my defence, I've made enough soup for packed lunches to last us both a fortnight and dinner since I got in, went to the supermarket on the way home from work...

TeaOperated · 02/10/2012 20:11

He's back, we have puffs, I think he's sulking....

Ooo MyJob, piles don't sound plesant. My DH is suspected to have some and they seem to be causing quite significant discomfort and making him quite misseable, so don't envy you that. He's got what he is calling his 'camera bum' appointment on Thursday so they can check it is definately 'just' piles.

Emus folk at work have clearly got the message I still feel icky so don't ask now! I gave DH very evil eyes when he tried to tell his Mum I was a bit better! To be fair, it is improving slightly now, but not as much as he seemed to be making out and I swear MIL thinks I'm exagerating and if she hears the word better will think I'm fully recovered. Actually MIL has been very good, come and looked after DS for us a few times and got cleaning, washing etc. done whilst here. Turned up with complete meal with pudding one night, and they live 1hr 20mins away!

TeaOperated · 02/10/2012 20:29

All ok, puff crisis averted...

TheAngelshavetheOod · 02/10/2012 20:29

Welcome myjob

lannyshrops · 02/10/2012 20:31

Hey all! Been lurking the last week. My computer has died and have to use my phone and it takes so long! AM using DH's computer which I also do not like, lap top, grrrr more like a brick top! I want an I pad
and work unhelpfully firewall MN so cant even catch up there!

Welcomemyjob (and the other noebies who I have neglected to welcome due to computer issues and lurking on phone!)

jojo so pleased your op went well and bean seems to be well

teaoperated you are making his child, NOTHING is unreasonable! He should have asked the shop lady! Let him sulk, enjoy some peace and quiet and the remote with the puffs Grin!!!!

have lurked far too much to name check much else, really really should learn!!

MW last week, was in and out in about 10 minutes, checked wee, checked blood pressure, went through blood results, told me that they do not check for hb at 16 weeks and that was that! I could have done all that myself! However, I explained that I would find it v difficult to get to appointments between 10 and 12 due to work, so she has given me her number to arrange appointments after work! How kind and very helpful! Oh, and she agreed with me that the diabetes test thing is not needed for me afterall so I was happy all round really!

I have heard hb however! I bought the angel sounds monitor weeks ago but couldnt hear anything, decided to have another go on Sunday and there it was a little train going like mad! DH was amazed!! Which team does that make me likely to be?!

20 week scan in a few weeks, then to pay for a private one to find out the sex, I cannot wait!! I'm so impatient and want to know now!!!!!!! nothing to do with clothing or decorating (am desparately trying to find gender neutral decorations etc which are not yellow or cream, with no luck yet!) I too hate the ammount of girly pink and blue with sickening slogans on, but it is so so difficult to get anything else that is not bloomin' white!

The buliders are here doing the extention, my house is messy and dusty and I hate it!! I am such a neat freak and want my clean house back! DH is also saying that when they finish we may as well redo all the wood work and a lick of paint throughout, so more mess and disruption after too! I have to keep reminding him that my help will be limmited and that he is not superman! I think he is nesting!!!!!

Right, have I written enough to make up for neglectful lurking for over a week?!!! Will try v hard to post more often. Hugs to all xxx

Oh, am 17+6 and have a propper tummy! SO loving it!

JoJoBella84 · 02/10/2012 20:43

Welcome mum !!!

ThreeForTea · 02/10/2012 20:45

Ugh, just lost my second post of the day. SO unimpressed with my devices right now, as if a hormonal pregnant lady needs machinery turning against her as well as everything else!

ThreeForTea · 02/10/2012 20:57

It just bloody HAPPENED AGAIN!!!! I'm out i'm afraid, the gods are obviously against me posting today!!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 02/10/2012 20:59

lanny I have a 'proper' tummy, it's just not baby related! Grin

Welcome jobis!

sheldon what a very odd thing to say!? Maybe she was just having a 'moment'...

stealth that w@nker at your work will I'm sure get what's coming to him. What a total nob. He clearly is a bit of a dimwit to go stirring trouble about your pregnancy, when pregnancy is one of the times when you are pretty well supported and protected by employment law!!

Whoever it was who asked about flexible working (sorry, memory is atrocious..) as far as I understand it, you have the right to flexible working dnd then your employer have to give specific reasons if they refuse, ie, it's not sufficient to just say PT working will not meet the needs of the business...

Tea if you've got a craving, you've got a craving!

I'm living fresh fruit juice first thing in the morning and also mad for savoury stuff, crisps, olives, salads with dressing. In fact, just food in general! ;-)

I read a really interesting book on gender called pink brain, blue brain. I can't now remember exactly what it said (as clearly I now have no brain! Grin) but at the time it was interesting! GrinBlush

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 02/10/2012 21:14

should say has the right to request flexible working....

My concentration is elsewhere (watching the bake off!)
