Sorry to you all that are having irritating partners this weekend, but your stories made me giggle, read them to my DP with a knowing sigh as you could have been describing one of our normal days. He's been perfection this weekend but fully expect a shower puff story to tell you soon!

wishful I am also 14+0-woo hoo-but also like a pee machine, day or night, also tipping forward to fully empty but no luck, just need to pee whenever near a toilet just in case!!

14+0

SneezySnatcher · 07/10/2012 20:07

Hello all. Glad to hear most of us are beginning to feel better. I feel great now I don't feel nauseous, although I get very tired in the afternoons. DH and I managed to clean the whole house yesterday at 8am, as I have the most energy first thing in the morning!

I must confess I had another baked Camembert today - so delicious!

14+1

LoobyLou33 · 07/10/2012 21:16

All this talk about camembert is making me feel a bit queasy...! Actually the nausea has been a tad better this weekend, I wonder if it's because I slept really well while away. I actually enjoyed a meal (carvery, mm) for the first time in about 6 weeks!

jacqueline sorry your scan was not straightforward, here's hoping the things spotted turn out to be nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the posts re: bloods, kellestar I did go to the phlebotomist in hospital, thankfully the MW didn't try more than once before packing me off! So in fact she did me a favour. Sounds like you had a much rougher time..eek.

steph I am showing a bit, specially by evening, but always bloat at periods and sometimes look pregnant just when I'm on!

bunnygirl80 · 07/10/2012 21:50

magic your DH sounds like he needs to pull his socks up a bit. Mine was the same during my first pg. The smell of alcohol made me feel really really sick, but he'd still happily sit next to me and crack open a beer, saying morning sickness is only temporary and I'd get over it. I'd sit there fuming thinking that as its only temporary perhaps he could just not drink for a few weeks. He also bitched like crazy that I wasn't pulling my weight around the house. I just don't think he could really grasp just how awful I felt. He was fab once DS arrived though, and started cooking every night, making my lunch and leaving it in the fridge before he left for work. It seemed like just because he couldn't see the baby while I was pg it just didn't exist for him Hmm He's been much better this time for some reason, although I still get the occasional comment about the state of the house

pontouf can't believe they lost your bloods. Hope you get the results soon.

I went to my netball club end of season lunch on Saturday, and there's three of us pg at the moment. One is 28weeks, but about 6ft3 tall and has hardly any bump. The other is 18weeks, and we were comparing stomachs, and hers is still totally totally flat, while mine is definitely starting to show at 14 weeks. Envy It is her first pg though, and I was the same last time.

tattooedapril87 · 07/10/2012 22:24

eurgh my bf tells me that i need to just stop thinking about feeling sick and i won't feel sick anymore... he seems to think its all in my head!
idiot!!!

CrackleMauve · 08/10/2012 09:44

Hello all. Sorry to hear about crappy partners. They really need a kick up the bum.

Been quiet here as we moved house last week and only have Internet on my phone. Getting my nesting done early by cleaning the place up. Think I might have overdone it a little bit! But trying to take it easier today.

I am 14+5 and still sick every morning. Was the same all the way through last time so not expecting it to improve. Threw up into a bin by a bus stop last week as I rushed to take my daughter to the childminder. Classy!

somewherebecomingrain · 08/10/2012 10:04

loobylou carvery - i am obsessed with it. have managed to recreate the vibe at home by reheating the day before's roast. bisto, yorkshire pud, it's just the thing.

tattoed that is along the lines of 'if you worry that the baby has a problem you'll make it have that problem'. suddenly during pregnancy men turn into medieval people with no grasp of the modern world. My sympathies!

NotShortImFunSized · 08/10/2012 10:12

Welcome and congrats to the new joiners. This is the busiest, fullest antenatal thread I've ever been on! It's amazing, there must be almost 100 of us surely?!

Glad to hear that the sickness is wearing off for a lot of you and those who are still feeling rough, you have my sympathies. I still have awful waves of nausea and dizziness most days. It's better that it's no longer all day but it's still hideous.

On a good note I'm feeling much better after the op and can move around again. It's a PITA not being able to pick up the little ones still though. I did go a bit mad on Saturday, walked round loads of shops, lifted dd into/out of trollies and car. I certainly paid for it later that day and on Sunday. Was really painful!

Fingers crossed for today. Scan is at 12.20. I just won £40 on a scratch card so I'm taking that as a sign today is a lucky day Smile

I'm freaking out slightly as this is the first 12week scan I've ever been to on my own. I've already had 5 scans this pregnancy so far and they've all been ok. I was on my own for those too but this one just seems different. They can see so much more now and anything wrong might be seen so it's all a bit odd.

Anyway good luck to anyone else who might have scan today. Will be back with news this afternoon.

PS This weather is bloody atrocious!

Giddypants · 08/10/2012 10:14

Welcome tattooed and keys
jacqueline I hope you get some positive answers about your scan soon.

magictorch your DH needs a good talking to! MS is not in your head neither is feeling tired, he is expecting too much of you I'm not saying you need to be wrapped in cotton wool but a bit of consideration wouldn't go amiss!

I got upset with DH on Saturday, he cooked tea, this is something I usually dread, he once conjured up, gammon with pasta and rice with peas carrots and bolignase sauce!
So he cooked a mince beef and mushroom pie with mash and peas, I must admit it was lovely but I got upset because there wasn't enough gravy! I felt awful afterwards.

Work yesterday was busy, on my feet all day, a friend informed me that I have a distinct waddle! To be fair my back ached and my leg was numb but I realised what she meant Sad
I also had a definite kick yesterday at work, took me really by surprise.

I'm feeling a bit rough, I have caught DSs nursery cold, so was up all last night trying not to puke is there anything we can take like lemsip or sudafed? Paracetamol is just not cutting it.

usernamegoeshere · 08/10/2012 11:03

Giddy I find hot ribena really helps when I have cold, maybe try that, its obviously not a drug but can still be a bit comforting.

I have my first anti natal appointment this afternoon. Its at my GPs surgery, I might have gotten confused but I think if I choose too I can just have GP led care there rather than needing to see a midwife separately, but I guess that will be explained to me later!

13+0 - I'm actually so far behind with everything that the weeks are going really fast.

Giddypants · 08/10/2012 11:33

Thanks username ill try anything enjoying relaxing on the sofa with a cuddly DS even if I have to suffer Mickey Mouse club house!

aufaniae · 08/10/2012 11:44

Giddypants I second hot ribena, I've found it comforting with this horrible cold.

Got my second scan today (with a consultant, to look for soft makers as high-risk). I found out that my Dad is taking warfarin (sp?) considering also my gran (his mum) died from a stroke, and these things are hereditary, it's looking more to me like I might have some kind of sticky-blood / thrombosis leanings. (This would also account for low Papp-A hormone, which is what the high risk for chromosomal abnormalities has been based on.) Will talk to the consultant today and maybe my Dr too.

Mama1980 · 08/10/2012 11:51

Aufanaie- best of luck today x
Giddy pants- I agree hot ribena try lemon juice in it as well extra vitamin c. Smile
My morning sickness is not showing any signs of fading- anyone else stuck with it? I was the same with ds got sick until about 20 weeks. Otherwise all is ok I can't wait for my scan on Wednesday though.

aufaniae · 08/10/2012 12:58

Thanks Mama :)

Great tip about the lemon too, had never thought of that!

My other drink for colds is honey and lemon with a touch of brandy but we'll forget about that shall we which is great for you of course, but there's just something very comforting about hot blackcurrant isn't there :)

Will get some lemons for the ribena while I'm out.

aufaniae · 08/10/2012 13:00

Mama, sickness to 20 weeks must be miserable :( Have you found that anything helps relieve it at all?

Fingers crossed for your scan x

NotShortImFunSized · 08/10/2012 13:17

Just had scan, one little, wriggly, cute and healthy looking little one in there Grin

Nuchal all looked fine. She took loads of measurements and highest was 1.7mm so looking good so far. Just waiting to have bloods done. Sooooo relieved!

NotShortImFunSized · 08/10/2012 13:18

Oh and they've changed my dates, AGAIN! Gone from original lmp date of 23rd to now being the 18th.

12+4 apparently!

trying2bpos · 08/10/2012 13:58

Congrats notshort that's great news. I feel for you having to go on your own though. I assume you are posting from your phone otherwise I want your hospital! Congrats on your scratch card win too, what are you spending it on?

Sorry some of the OHs are not being helpful, mine's generally good but went out for a drink last night so was late to bed which woke me then HE was up every couple of hrs going to the loo, makes a pregnant woman look like a camel?

Couldn't sleep last night (before all the toilet trips by DH). I set up one of my friends with one of DHs a couple of years ago and they're getting married in Aug! Woohoo Dolly eat your heart out! DH's friend asked him to be one of his bestmen last night which is lovely but on a completely selfish note I am worried how I'll cope with a toddler and a 4 mo old at the wedding and reception without DH even sitting with us. I've suggested that I stay at home with the kids but DH was not having any of it but I really don't know how it will work logistically. The other bestman will be a new father as well so not like he can do the bulk of the bestmanly duties either. AM I BEING PATHETIC or imaging the worse? Anyone else been in this situation? Leaving kids behind or even my toddler isn't really an option as we've noone to leave him with! HELP!

OP posts:
Giddypants · 08/10/2012 14:52

Good idea with the hot ribena also had a large orange which I'm really into at the mo, trying not to take too many paracetamol so I can save some for through the night if I need to.
Think DS is getting a bit of cabin fever he's just had a long nap and is full of beans but I'm really not moving from the sofa, think I'll have a hot bath when DH gets home.
Great news about the scan notshort
trying if you take the kids at least you'll have an excuse to go home early? Are other people with children going? You may be able to entertain the toddler with other little ones and everyone will be cooing over the baby!

miarosemum · 08/10/2012 15:06

Good luck aufanie, giiddy I have had awful muscular pain in my right thigh thinking its sciatica, so also saving the paracetamol for bedtime!

JaquelineHyde · 08/10/2012 15:26

NotShort my date was altered to the 18th at my scan also, so looks like we are due date buddies Smile

No call back from the midwife yet, I left the message at 5.30pm on Friday saying I wanted to discuiss my scan in more detail etc. Think I will give them a quick call again and leave another message.

Is anyone else still having cramping? I'm having perido type pains that are quite severe at some points and then very mild at others.

JaquelineHyde · 08/10/2012 15:28

Oh and good luck aufaniae if you get Mr Pascall you will be in fine hands he's a great consultant. Also he trained as a sonographer originally so is pretty damn briliant with scans Grin

Giddypants · 08/10/2012 16:31

miarose be careful not to mistake sciatica for pelvic girdle pain, if its pregnancy related get referred to physiotherapy they can give you exercises that will help with the pain.

sugarfiend · 08/10/2012 16:33

Hi Everyone - sorry I haven't been around for aggggessss. I've been quietly lurking for the last week or two after disappearing when I found it tricky to deal with the list of lovely April ladies beginning to dwindle at once stage!

I'm so pleased to see that everyone seems to be getting on ok and that mama you're now finally back at home!

I also recommend the hot juice (I've been having vimto) as an alternative to lemsip - it feels lovely and cosy. Boiled sweets allllmost work to soothe a tickly cough, but not as well as a square of chocolate Wink

Now I just need someone to come up with something to unblock my nose!

I had my first scan this morning, and I'm now officially 12+5 with an EDD of 17th April.
Everything seemed to go really well with the scan. It was amazing seeing it on the screen for the first time. Only downside was that the little bean decided it wanted to curl up and sleep instead of posing for a picture before eventually turning it's back on us! So our picture isn't the best but we still got to see baby! Suddenly seems much more real!

Nuchal measurement was 1.5 so I'm happy with that - just got to wait for the bloods to come back now.

I did have to see the consultant as my blood pressure is normally borderline high when at the doctors (white coat hypertension - ha apparently that really does exist) coupled with a family history of small + prem babies. I'm so relieved that even she was lovely and very positive so that's a weight off my mind, at least for now.

I'm convinced there is a bit of a baby boom going on around me - several friends and a colleague have all announced that they're expecting since I found out! Has anyone else found this?

usernamegoeshere · 08/10/2012 16:53

After not being able to get an NHS scan in time for ages & ages my GP has kicked some bum and reckons they will squeeze me in by next Wednesday, so am a bit excited that I get to see it again so soon.

He also has sent letters about my booking in appointment, cos its getting a bit late now.

Congratulations to those who had good scan news today! Aufanie I hope yours was reassuring?

Jacqueline I still cramp, usually mild but sometimes I get really overtired & seems worse on those days.
