Oh complicated and bunty you poor things. That must have been scary. So glad it was all fine but it is terrifying when you think something might be up.

Happy birthday bealos and brugs (passes the virtual cake). Glad you had a nice day yesterday brugs. Bealos, it is my birthday tomorrow and I have made no secret of the fact that I expect a fuss to be made....you NOT being unreasonable to expect special treatment and I would have a word with DP if he doesn't pull his finger out by the end of the day.

On the party side, I tried to bail on the weekend and got a seriously frosty recepetion. So after double checking the drive time (which is only 3 hours not 5) and deciding to book into a IBIS near by I have just decided to bite the bullet and go. She is one of my best friends so I am sure I'll be happy I went but good to know I am not a complete bitch for thinking about bailing Grin.

AppleCrumples · 05/11/2012 12:25

Happy birthday brugs and bealos (and squealy for tomorrow). Hope you get pampered :)

squealy hope you enjoy your weekend hotel sounds like a good idea.

Dcs went back to school today and am so relieved! Honestly I love them all so much but I've found this pregnancy really hard and I've not been able to do as much with them, they all got a bit bored and then they're difficult to handle. I feel guilty for not doing so much with them and shouting lots as I'm tired an cranky... Oh well at least we're nearing the end now will actually be easier when baby is here!

On the plus side have spent all morning cleaning and tidying and house finally looks almost presentable (exept ds's room - I haven't got the energy for that). Am shattered now so gonna spend afternoon on sofa Grin

katolla · 05/11/2012 15:30

I reached 28 weeks today which is when you're supposed to be able to hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope, we had a go and still couldn't find it, but did get a good hard kick to wherever we tried to listen! That's a new one, she's never responded to pokes with direct kicks back before!

Pascha · 05/11/2012 16:50

Have you tried getting baby to follow a torch yet? Thats quite fun, usually I get a great big poke which moves where the light goes Grin

PricklyPickle · 05/11/2012 17:13

Ooh the torch thing sounds fun! I'll be trying that out later.

Happy birthday to the three if you. Extra fuss (and cake) should be made because of the wonderful job you're doing growing the new additions to your families.

I've got the first if my two nhs anti-natal classes this evening. I don't have very high expectations of them. I might be just being grumpy though.

Lora1982 · 05/11/2012 17:23

squealy we spent 8 hrs driving to and from france when i was 29/30 wks. i survived but got back ache so take a pillow.

had flu and whooping cough today so god knows if il be able to use my arms tomorrow

mrsbugsywugsy · 05/11/2012 17:50

I had a bit of a hormonal meltdown at the weekend - I am trying to do the final bit of work for a course that I am studying, but it's all gone a bit pear shaped. I ended up in a big snotty ball of tears with DP having to console me. Today I have spoken to my course leader and of course it's all going to be fine, so I'm feeling much better.

I'm generally feeling a bit sorry for myself as I can't seem to shake this cold, and I suddenly have an almost constant need to wee. The loo at work is a long walk from my desk and I seem to spend more time walking backwards and forwards than I do sitting at my desk.

Tomorrow I have my 28 week midwife appointment. I have to drink a can of lucozade first thing in the morning, then have either my blood or wee tested for sugar (I can't remember which). Has anyone else had this? I'm a little confused as other people have told me that you only have to do a lucozade test if you've already had sugar show up in an ordinary wee sample, but I thought it was a routine test.

I'll definitely be asking about the whooping cough vaccine tomorrow too.

Prickly are you doing NHS classes as well as private ones, or instead? I'm doing a private class so not sure if I need to go to NHS ones as well, and the midwife hasn't mentioned them.

Complicated and Bunty sorry you had such stressful weekends, glad all is OK now though.

Happy Birthday Brug and Bealos. Bealos I definitely think your OH is being unreasonable. Can you book yourself and a best friend a nice restaurant and leave him home to babysit? If you weren't pregnant I'd suggest coming home stinking drunk too.

happyhow · 05/11/2012 18:08

Happy Birthday to all those it's applicable too!! Grin

I had my 31 week appointment this afternoon. Baby is misbehaving and is currently breach but I'm not worrying for now - it's got plenty of time left to do a somersault! Measuring at 32cm so slightly big. Got my whooping cough jab today too - no sore arm yet but I guess that'll be coming...

Got told today too that the only applicant for my maternity cover has taken a post somewhere else. Sad There are 2 retired teachers locally that they are going to try and get to do a job share but neither wants anything long term. Thankfully holidays and study leave will break it up but I'm not holding out any hope... I've decided it's not my problem though and I'm just going to make sure that all my classes are where they're supposed to be by Christmas.

Now going to do a shit load of work and think about starting to pack up the flat. Sad

Complicated24 · 05/11/2012 18:21

Happy birthday brugs, Bealos and squealy for tomorrow. How strange that 3 birthdays are so close together on this thread. I send you all a virtual calorie laden candle lit cake.

I too need to wee all time with very little there. Annoying. I haven't got a clue what position baby is in as consultant didn't tell me at 28 wk appt. have got 31 wk MW appt this wk so hope I will find out then. I haven't had lucozade test so will ask MW if I need to have it.

My legs and ankles are beginning to swell up. I wore knee high boots to work today which used to be loose on me, but by end of day felt I had cut off circulation they were so tight. Only got 3 more wks at work so don't want to buy new work boots so may have to resort to trainers. Have never had fat calves so very depressing! Have now got feet up on sofa. Please tell me swelling goes down after babies are born.

Complicated24 · 05/11/2012 18:28

Bunty you poor thing. Hope you spent whole day in bed or watching day time tv and are now feeling a million times better. Big virtual hug.

PixelCarrier · 05/11/2012 18:48

Happy Birthday bealos, hope you've been well and truly fussed over by now, and have had a lovely day.

PixelCarrier · 05/11/2012 18:53

Sorry, didn't time that post right, meant to add in: happy birthday's to brugs and squealy too!

knuckingfackered · 05/11/2012 19:33

bugsy
I've got glucose thing at end of week too.
I've never had sugar in urine in either preg, normal bmi and prev baby was normal size etc.
MW perplexed as to why I'm having it.
I think its just my consultant is said to be very thorough.
Its been a total bugger sorting the fact I'll be at the hosp for an entire morning so had to get rellies over to sit DC, let alone the fact that lucozade is rank and I resent taking anything like that AT ALL let alone when preg......

Ho Hum

mrsbugsywugsy · 05/11/2012 19:55

knucking luckily mine isn't at the hospital, I just have to drink lucozade an hour before my midwife appt. I discussed it with my SIL (who has now been diagnosed with GD) and she had to do the lucozade one at a hospital, and only after there was sugar in one of her regular urine samples.

The bad news is my appointment is at 9am so I will have to drink lucozade first thing when I get up in the morning.

bealos · 05/11/2012 20:06

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO Brugmansia AND SquealyB too!

I met up with a couple of friends at Kew Gardens today (took the day off work) which was really lovely. Wandered round the gardens looking at the trees changing colours, had a big lunch, went into the tropical greenhouses, etc... Nice.

knuckingfackered · 05/11/2012 20:27

bugsy
mine too is crack of dawn at hosp I assume to sit there and wait till gone 11.
I do have to have 28 wk antenatal, anti d, thyroid bloods as well so hopefully they will ship me around the place for a morning of pokes and stabs.....

knuckingfackered · 05/11/2012 20:32

oh and rant,
I'm gettin teed of with lack of coat, tis baltic.
Found one for in the £30s (reasonable) on HandM, only to find out of stock til early Dec (so I freeze for 6 weeks now and get to use it for 6 weeks, great!)
So cancelled.
Tried all other usual cheap sources even regular plus size shops but all too dear.
I'm not paying 60 plus for 8 weeks use.
Ideas?

BuntyCollocks · 05/11/2012 20:33

Thanks, complicated I have spent the day in my pjs, and thoroughly nice and needed it was too!

emilyeggs · 05/11/2012 20:43

Hello ladies, was wondering if I can join? I'm due 28/12 but was also told 02/01! This is my first dc (team yellow) and have two lovely d step children ds12 dd6. I think mini eggs will be a jan baby as I was two weeks late (and never hurried since) Grin

PixelCarrier · 05/11/2012 21:53

Hi emily, welcome.

Just done the first part of our Christmas cake (soaking an enormous bowl full of fruit in brandy). Not sure when I'll get a chance to do the rest, but I think the longer the fruit soaks in brandy the better...

Bunny222 · 05/11/2012 22:35

emily welcome to the group

Happy birthday to those whove been celebrating.

Really annoyed with DH tonight, agreed to watch the NCT dvd wed been given, then he spent the whole time messing on his ipad and on facebook. This infuriated me, arent we mant to be in this together. ?
The only time he paid attention was whenhe realised there was something on he wanted to watch so turned the dvd off! Argh!!!!

pmgkt · 05/11/2012 22:47

Hi emily, im the same, but moved from 2nd Jan to 28th Dec too so I'm on both too.

It my birthday today too, but been away for the weekend without ds1 to spa hotel, and there was no reception. Had fireworks and cake at in laws and a lovely roast too.

Cejay8 · 06/11/2012 06:35

Another birthday here! Spending the day at a spa with DH minus DS Smile 30 weeks now and it's all going too quickly! We recently toured our local hospital and really don't want to go there! So thinking of a home birth now, just need to convince DH. Anyone changed hospitals or considering a home birth?

woody2313 · 06/11/2012 06:39

happyhow I'm in a similar position - told work about pregnancy in June and they still haven't got maternity cover. I'm trying my hardest with my classes - especially Y11 - to get everything covered and remind myself that the fact that they might be getting a raw deal thanks to SLT's ineptitude is not my fault or my problem after Christmas...

BuntyCollocks · 06/11/2012 08:09

It's a birthday influx! Happy birthday, squealy, cejay and pmgkt! hope you all have lovely days.
