Hiya. Havent checked i for a while. Its lots busier now.
James- pleased scans are going well.

Anyone elses nipples really really really sensitive to the cold?had this with dd1 but had forgotten the excrutiating pain! Maybe another girl in there?

monal · 22/10/2012 12:55

Hi dreamydays. I am sure that my GP only said so to put the fear of god in me, surely people can't all book spots when they're 3 weeks gone. I think she thought I wanted to be in the most fashionable clinic in Paris. Your gyn will see you right. Also I'm an impatient so-and-so :)

I want a homebirth really but that seems to be rare as hen's teeth here and is generally perceived by my friends as something unwashed hippies do who don't care a fig for their babies' health. I'll see how it goes.

MrsJLS85 · 22/10/2012 13:25

Hi everyone, hope you're all well!

I have a travel question, and wondered if anyone knows the answer: DH and I are going away to America at Christmas, and need to buy single-trip travel insurance. Do I have to declare that I am pregnant? I'll only be in my early 2nd trimester. Is being pregnant a "pre-existing" medical condition?
Any advice you can give would be very helpful!!

Hope those with MS are feeling better soon!

3littlewomen · 22/10/2012 13:25

Hi there - Oli I also lose my horrendously sweet tooth, end up very tired and drained if i eat sweet things when upduffed. Its a shame as I loves to bake Sad. I end up liking very tart things.... M&S orange juice lollies, stuffed tomatoes with LOADS of parsley and hot and sour chinese takeaway soup have being my most memorable obsessions!!

Ladies, you won't be surprised to hear (what with this being #5) that I am in Ireland - so i shall add to the diversity of antenatal care we have on this board Grin. Spent the morning researching nuchal scans over here as they are not part of our routine care - and as I am now 40, I would like some reassurance or the knowledge an amnio is the way to go for me.

Still smiling - DH and I so excited you would think this was the first Grin

3littlewomen · 22/10/2012 13:28

Hi Ms - I actually just contacted the AA regarding our annual multi-trip plan. They DO NOT cover anything pregnancy related - but any other ailment would be covered. Best check with the insurance provider before booking...

I would ask if they cover pregnancy related conditions. I would hate to worry about that whilst away.

I'm mostly lurking as struggling to keep up with the number of posts Grin. Doesn't help that ds (14 months) wants my phone every time he sees it.

Could someone add my stats please? Only have my phone and it doesn't want to copy and paste on here.

princesschick · 22/10/2012 14:34

Hi all, I haven't been 'round for ages on here. Feeling rough as today. Working is tres difficult with this level of nausea and exhaustion. Spent yesterday in bed eating egg sarnies and watching films and generally feeling very sorry for myself! Still, the symptoms are good, it makes me feel that this one could be the sticky one. And after 3.5 years since the first MC, I'd love this to work out. FX!!!!

Anyway, I'm off on hols in November and I just rang my insurers early too. MrsJLS85 they said that there are no problems and they did not need to know about my pregnancy and I will be covered unless there are any other medical problems. So, providing I'm fit and healthy it's all good. We have all year round cover with RBS, probably best to phone up the insurance company you are considering using first before paying the premium :)

Waves hello to everyone else :)

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 22/10/2012 14:41

All those symptoms sound really promising princess. Do you have your first midwife app and scan booked?

I'm with you on the tiredness and nausea. Struggling the most if I need to get up with ds during the night at the moment. Need to get some belvita biscuits for beside my bed again (I know it's meant to be crackers!).

princesschick · 22/10/2012 14:52

Thanks Cola I think I'm going to have to keep food by the bed soon. I'll have to find something suited to my diet - so wholegrain, organic, sugar free (no ginger biscuits here - sob) but the thought of dry rice cakes in the night makes me wretch just thinking about it!! I've got my scan booked in for the 29/11 but I haven't got my booking in appointment yet. I've got to register with the GP in my new area before I can see the midwife, but the hospital were happy to book my scan. It gets even more complicated because I'm at the in laws and DH is finishing renovating our house and somebody forgot to take the forms this morning. Otherwise I would have taken them. I guess they can always go tomorrow. Are you all sorted for appointments?

dreamydays · 22/10/2012 15:02

Thanks monal. i'm not in Paris so doubt there's the same issue with places becoming booked up. Expect I'll end up in the local public hospital which surely can't refuse to take me! Yes I see what you mean about home births here.

Have you tried eating in local restaurants while pg? It's impossible! I tried asking for a steak "bien cuit" and was nearly laughed out of the place...

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 22/10/2012 15:36

As someone who had shocking morning sickness last time, you are missing nothing on the ginger biscuit front. If there is nothing yummy in your supermarkets 'free from' section you could try wearing a travel sickness wristband.

Need to get booking in appointment sorted. Gp couldn't stress enough that there was no hurry as I was only just pregnant. Got a scan to check baby is not ectopic. It's on Friday. Might be too early to see heart beat, but will hopefully have little one in right place. Smile

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat · 22/10/2012 15:58

Just noticed previous post. This is baby number 2, not 232 ShockGrin

HowAnnoying · 22/10/2012 16:39

Hi there can somebody also add me to the list; baby no. 3 due 14th June. Has everyone been to the drs yet? I haven't, can somebody remind me roughly when first midwife appointment is?

I've been feeling quite rough last few days, gone off coffee and just want comfort food. So far it's not been as bad with ds' 1&2, don't know how I'll deal with school run if it does get that bad again.

What's the age gap for people who are on their 2nd plus baby? Mine is 4 years so quite big.

Hi HowAnnoying, I've added you to the list.
I had my GP appointment today (which I've waited 3 weeks for) who said 'congratulations, go across the road to the hospital and get an appointment at the midwife' so I have duly phoned midwife who took my details and are going to phone me back. He did put my mind at rest about scans etc. as wait for midwife is quite a few weeks at the mo (heard from a friend who's a nurse at the hospital) and it means I may be past 12 weeks before I get my appointment, but he said that wouldn't matter. It would mean we wouldn't let anyone know until later though. Although TBH I think the longer I keep my MIL out of the picture the better, she's unbearable at the best of times, another grandchild might just push her over the edge! (She likes hugging/ crying etc. I'm pretty unemotional so we don't quite see eye to eye when celebrating!!!1)

Squidge123 · 22/10/2012 17:30

Welcome howannoying, my dd is 7 ,8 in jan and my ds is 4 , will be nice to have time on own with baby while others at school x

ella0 · 22/10/2012 17:55

HowAnnoying It's different in every area. I had to wait till 7 weeks to even call a midwife and I've just been given my first midwife appointment which is at the same time as the 12 week scan (though they're actually doing my scan at 11 weeks)!

thedevilisinthedetail · 22/10/2012 18:35

howannoying you're the same as me baby number the due on the 14th. Mine will be 2 and 4 though...argh! So far not as bad as either but I can feel tiredness setting in. also very emotional..cried at Thomas the Tank engine because James was mean to Edward, and don't get me started on Downton Abbey!

thedevilisinthedetail · 22/10/2012 18:39

Should have been baby number 3

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/10/2012 18:59

Anyone else getting round ligament pains already? I've done a fair bit of walking today and all round my womb feels really achy and pulling.

I'm so knackered, been up since 6am after needing a wee and couldn't get back to sleep (although sleep seemed pretty appealing at about 7.30am, when it was too bloody late!) I really need to rest - not much chance of that round here, so much to do. Can't decide whether I want to sleep or cry. Sad

SundaySunshine · 22/10/2012 20:55

Aww james I really feel for you. I can feel the exhaustion slowly creeping up on me, and I'm dreading it. I really can't imagine what it must be like to cope with that AND two kiddies. I've got a demanding 3 yo who still doesn't sleep through the night (totally my own fault ) so I'm already in a sleep deficit. When I was pregnant earlier in the year I had to keep 'popping to the loo' just to sit quietly for 5 mins with my eyes closed! Ahhh!

Hang on in there, it will get easier Smile

PseudoBadger · 22/10/2012 22:29

I get sharp pains if I move carelessly, for example turning over in bed.

llamallama · 23/10/2012 07:49

I have my midwife booking in appointment at 9 weeks and got my 12 week scan date yesterday, 30th November! It's all getting a bit real now!

I have a 12 month old so she will be 20 months when the new baby arrives! I must be mad!

Skinnydecafflatte · 23/10/2012 08:25

Morning. I have my booking in appointment this morning at 11. Can someone remind me what they do? I can't remember. Do they look 'up there'? Ie should I have a little tidy before I go? My scan came through for Monday 26th November, hopefully that will come round quickly.
Still only have sore boobs and a bit more tired than usual, wish I could have a scan sooner so I knew it was ok. Hope everyone else is feeling alright.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 23/10/2012 08:35

Skinny they've never looked at my bits in a booking in appointment. In fact they never did until I was in labour! I was at the booking in appt for my 2nd dc for over 3 hours, slowest midwife in the world Hmm they just do height, weight, does anyone in your family have such-and-such, any history of stds, previous pregnancies etc. I can't even remember if they take blood Confused
