I seemed to pile on loads of weight to begin with - not sure why as I was hardly eating and throwing up 6+ times a day... - but I too seem to have stayed the same size (again if a little smaller) for the past 2/3 weeks. Two people this week have commented that there's no way I look anything like 6 months, including a good friend I saw yesterday for the first time in months and told I was pregnant - her face was a picture! She apparently thought I'd just put on a bit of weight. Hmmph.

Told DH that the dog was coming to stay with us for a few weeks in September while my mum moves house. Didnt go down well - last time my dog stayed for more than a couple of nights he killed DHs laptop with a cup of coffee. They have a bit of a love-hate relationship so far as my dog ADORES DH but he hates the dog. I think he's being totally unreasonable saying no, he'll be offshore that week anyway...

Vq 60 days for you and I!!!!

StuntNun · 10/08/2012 09:32

ApplePie it does make life more interesting. My mum's Indo-Caribbean and my dad's white. Me and my younger brother have darker than white skin but still quite light and a lot of people assume we are white but my older brother looks really Indian. One of my cousins married a Moroccan man and her children are absolutely beautiful which is good because they are spoiled little so and sos!

stunt you have baffled me with your science Grin genetics fascinate me, but I am not scientific or mathematical enough.

gardenpixies32 · 10/08/2012 09:41

I had full intentions of monitoring my weight gain when I fell pregnant. My BMI was high to start with. I gave up with that since finding out I was carrying two. I am also too scared to go anywhere near the scales. I am hoping that breastfeeding and healthy eating will help shift the flab. Had mini meltdown in Mothercare on Monday. I bought some tiny baby sleep suits for the hospital and when I looked at the size of them I got scared thinking about how two of them were going to fit in me! If they are near 7lbs each, that is almost 15lbs of just babies! It doesn't help that they are measuring 2 weeks ahead. I have a 28 week scan next week and I can guarantee that they will be 3lbs each!

Am very scared!

horseylady · 10/08/2012 09:42

I've put on about 6-7kg which is nearly a stone. I was under the impression weight gain slows after 28 weeks as the baby stops growing so quickly and lays down fat opposed to size. So the placenta and fluid stay the same, it's maternal and baby fat stores.

Bump def growing!!! Boobs def growing!!!

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2012 09:53

horsey 60 days you say?

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2012 09:55

Near 80 I think

horseylady · 10/08/2012 09:57

Vq - no it's nearer 90 lol 83 to be exact!! I never count weekends as days. I have got about 40 working days left. Excluding holidays!!

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2012 10:00

76 days to my section date, which is 39 weeks.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 10/08/2012 10:02

I will admit that even with all the tiny clothes, the pushchair and the cot, I'm still finding it hard to take in the fact that in under 3 months there will be a baby here. Blush
As I type my bump is doing a great river dance impression and yet I still don't "feel" pregnant. I think a 4D scan is certainly needed but trying to get one around these parts is as rare as anything, all the ones local are booked until late november.

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2012 10:06

Saw a stonking pushchair at the hospital yesterday. Uppa Baby Vista. Drool! Looked a lot nicer in use than I remember it in the shop!

Lilliana · 10/08/2012 10:07

My friends little girl finally seemed to work out that there was a baby in my tummy the other day and looked at me very seriously saying 'you're going to be the Mummy and Dh is going to be the Daddy ...' (ah how cute) 'and then you will have a wobbly belly like my Mummy.' Err well yes, thanks for reminding me Grin

I'm a slattern when it comes to looking presentable. I can scrub up ok when I need to but soo much faf for everyday. Rarely wear makeup and a quick brush through the hair is about all I manage Blush (I am no natural beauty, I should spend time on these things, I just can't get any enthusiasm for it when no one sees me all day - or even if they do!) Luckily my cousin is training as a hair dresser and needs someone to practice on so I might at least get that sorted soon Grin Oh and no way is anyone getting hot wax near my undercarriage, shaving will do fine when I get around to it!!!

Garden I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin xx

Missmummy my BP is low too (100/60 I think she said), I fainted alot when I was a teenager too but mw didn't seem too concerned - hope yours stays ok, better too low than too high?

StuntNun · 10/08/2012 10:10

VQ my DH has a PhD in Neurochemistry the great big swot and always likes to say, "Science - meddling in forces we can't understand."

MissMummy1 · 10/08/2012 10:25

Lilliana low bp is definitely better than high. It may well be that the extra blood flow to baby is causing passages to increase and as such pressure decreases? As far as I know it will only become a real danger if we feel dizzy/faint/etc and mostly because of the risk of falling over. The fact neither of our mw's were fazed can only be a good thing :-)

DesperateHousewife21 · 10/08/2012 10:26

Ive been writing lists of things I still need to get for me and the baby (I love writing lists!)
There's still a fair bit to get, inc big things like the pram and car seat! One of my preg calendars said to get everything ready by the end of the second tri because you'll be too fat and tired (ok not those exact words but the gist was) to want to do it after that.

Well that gives me a week or so, hmm don't think it's going to happen!

applepieinthesky · 10/08/2012 10:27

98 days until my due date. Unbelievable to think I will have sole responsibility for this little tiny person in less than 100 days. I come from a big family with loads of little ones but I've never looked after one on my own for more than a few hours at a time. I don't think I've ever even changed a nappy!

horseylady · 10/08/2012 10:37

Vq that's the pram I'm getting :)

Must write list......I hate lists....

MissMummy1 · 10/08/2012 10:40

We've collated all of the lists and made a rough outline. We have most of the big stuff but the plan is to spread the rest of it - car seat, base, changing bag, cotbed mattress, nursery chair - out over the next 2 months; moving house was an expensive business! Doesn't help there's 2 loads of car tax, insurance and an MOT for the green thing (which I've been told is now staying until he's finished the other landrover deathtrap, grrrrr) to get through in that time too!

We've been buying all the little things as we go along, ie a few bits and pieces whenever we're out and adding a packet of wipes or nappies to the weekly food shop so we've not seen the extra expense of any of that so noticably. DH put the lampshade up in the nursery last night so it now looks like it at least has the potential to become a small person's bedroom!

kissyfur · 10/08/2012 10:43

Morning all

100 days until my due date! I have put on 7kg so far. Genetics fascinates me too but I don't know much about it! My DP has an African great great great grandad, but is pretty fair skinned when he's not been in the sun, dark hair and green eyes, and I'm from an Irish background, pale skin, freckles and reddish hair. Our DD is blonde with blue eyes like mine, but I think they are going greener as she gets older. She's the image of my DP when he was little, am wondering if this DC will look a bit more like me Smile

applepieinthesky · 10/08/2012 10:51

I?m one of the most disorganised people you could ever meet usually but I have had everything sorted for this baby for a while. So glad I have because I?m exhausted again. The ?blooming? stage never happened for me Grin All I?ve got left to do is get the baby monitor and rearrange his wardrobe by size.

Iheartpasties · 10/08/2012 11:06

It's lovely to hear about the organised people.

I am nervous, I have my glucose test in the morning! I felt so awful last time I had it, really faint it was horrible. The worts art of my last pregnancy by far. Argh!

Lilliana · 10/08/2012 11:18

Sorry had to post before I finished the thread as Dh came in for breakfast.

Candy I've been a bit rubbish with the diet/supplements too, take them occasionally when I remember and figure it can't do any harm!

Glad the plaster is now off, that must be a relief..

GT I'm worrying how I will cope in sept too. It's been so nice being off and after I've done a bit have a rest, not sure what I'll be like when I can't do that. I admire all those working FT and don't know how you do it. Hope you are ok.

I have avoided all scales so no idea what I have put on, bit scared to find out tbh!

No idea what baby will look like, I hope he/she doesn't have Dh's huge nose (but tbh I don't want it to have my wonky nose either!) I've been thinking more about what flavour it is and haven't given much thought to what it will look like.

Ohh VQ we have the vista - been looking out for one in action but no-one seems to have them around here. Glad it looked good :)

My friend gave me a bumbo, baby rocker, BabyBjorn carrier and pramsuits in assorted sizes yesterday - I think I love her! People have been really lovely about lending things and it will save us a fortune.

pasties hope it goes ok and doesn't make you feel too bad

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2012 11:18

stunt I dare you to go and say that on the ghost thread Grin no, seriously don't. Best leave those nasty people alone. (that comment obviously not aimed at YW)

kissyfur · 10/08/2012 11:24

VQ I had to stop reading the ghost thread as it was depressing me! There are some really nasty people on mumsnet, obv not you YW
