So yesterday I was 40+3 so I was feeling a bit fed up and the weather was quite nice (scotland). So I decided to go to Ikea with my mum to get a walk around. So we walked and shopped for 4 hours (with some meatballs in between of course). Ate pineapple, had a green Thai curry with extra Chillis, bounced and bounced, and drank raspberry leaf tea. Nada nout nothing. So I spent the night cursing my cervix. Only to wake up this morning having weird period cramp pains. Soooo I immediately looked up on the net, could these be contractions??! I downloaded an app for counting contractions and it turns out they were coming every 10 mins and lasting 45 seconds a go. I gave myself 3 hours to make sure this wasn't just a fluke, then called the hospital. Turns out I'm in the early stages of pregnancy!! Last night I was sure my cervix hated me and I'd have to be induced on the 29th so I'm so happy! The midwife says it could take up to two days as this is my first baby and my body doesn't know what its doing. But I don't even care :P My yoga ball is my best friend at the mo its really helping.

So I'm currently trying to tidy and organise the house so I won't have to think about it when we get home from the hospital.

I've not had a show or had my waters break yet but I'm just so glad SOMETHING is happening!!

tostaky · 21/05/2012 14:02

Great news imissbrie!!! Hopefully things will not drag on for too long!!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Should I go to ikea for 4 hours now...!Wink
you and catsycat are starting the new wave of May babies!!! Grin

I've just booked 3 (free) acupuncture sessions with the hospital to "induce" labour... Starts on Wednesday!

tostaky · 21/05/2012 14:04

Ps: don't worry about having a show or waters breaking - contractions are the real stuff!
I lost my waters with DC2 only minutes before pushing....

LimeFlower · 21/05/2012 14:20

BlueCrane even if the date of 26th is etched in your mind as the bad one,try to think the other way-if your baby choses to make an appearance on this very day I'm pretty sure it would push the bad experience to the back of your mind(not saying that you'll forget the mc but it would give this date some new, positive meaning). This Gaviscon Advance must be a devil one-never liked the ordinary one,it tasted vile and made me gag at the top of bloody heartburn.

LittleSarah there's nothing coming out of my boobs(yet),tried to squeeze the nipples but nada.I've got a picture in my mind of turning in bed and squirting some milk into DH's face shudder
Honestly, where all this people take the "gift" ideas from?I wouldn't mind taking used tub of cream from anybody if casually asked whether I wanted it(as I do with my friends and family) but as a gift? Hmm

Harecare,how's things in the household?

luckynumber i suppose they have to cover their backsides be prepared for worst hence the mess up with the permission/lack of it for mlu.pita as if they are so close to each other.I'm a bit surprised they booked you a sweep for Sunday.

goodname no advice on baby front I'm afraid but please don't scare me with food intake-I HAVE TO loose some weight, not gain any more!Namewise-we kind of "agreed" on the names but will still see how s/he looks like-might use it as an excuse as I'm not 100% with the names DH we chose (he didn't agree to my countless ideas giving just a few from his side)

tostaky i'm jealous...my DH still doesn't want to touch me with a barge pole.where do they take all this stories from?the ones about women not wanting sex?
According to the weather forecast it supposed to be nice, warm and sunny till the end of the week in my area(Scotland) so hoping your prediction of Tuesday baby boom in Scotland is not going to work!

SirCharles even if you go into labour suite with the migraine,it might distract you from the pain somewhere else :o
sorry, not being helpful at all but I'm still amazed what little control over our body we have sometimes.

Heidi sometimes I'm wondering whether the families are not aware of their rudeness or thinking they are allowed to be nasty and expect you to put up with it?I suppose it's partly my fault for not saying anything over the years but sometimes I was doubting myself thinking I got the wrong end of the stick. Now I trust more my gut instinct but still learning to say "no" and starting to take a pleasure of how shocked some people are to hear it too much MN reading sorry about the problems with your grandma but you really don't have to put up with somebody's shitty behaviour just because they are "faaaaamly" or for the fear of "upsetting" them.Would you rather upset yourself? They don't give a shit about your feelings so why should ou care?

Catsy thinking of you-hope everything's going well, your DD's will be fine and so will you.Sorry about the cat inflicted injuries.

cewafwb congrats on the birth of you daughter, lovely names :)

Yorky, maybe try your older DC get involved a bit during the day?wishing you strength for the nights

good luck imissbrie (great name-could have used that myself but miss too many things)

Yesterday was the first really warm day here-DH managed to cut the grass and i raked a bit with him grumbling in the background

Put the rest of potatoes into the ground, still have some onion sets to plant and that's me nearly done-except the greenhouse stuff.Went to the greenhouse but it's 45 degrees C over there so no chance I'll do anything over there till evening.
Baby moving a bit, mainly in the morning, less hiccups.Belly still very high,no show or contractions.
Spoke to my friend last night, trying to arrange a meeting after Thursday mw appointment-she said "call me on Wednesday evening if you're still around".was a bit miffed at the beginning and then realised that I CAN'T plan anything in advance now.
Was laughing at my MIL and her diary-she writes down the docs appointments, friends gatherings and such-she's got the "baby" in the diary for Thursday:)
Strange how I'll be 40 weeks on Thursday and all internet sources gave me the EDD of 24th of May,yet the mw wrote 25th.

Anyway, best of luck to everybody, especially those still waddling and waiting :)

Catsycat · 21/05/2012 15:58

Zuleika Seren was born at 10.06 this morning by ELCS, weight 9lb 1oz. She is very lovely and we're both doing well. More later x

Newtothisstuff · 21/05/2012 16:31

Congratulations GrinGrinGrinGrin

luckynumber11 · 21/05/2012 16:41

catsy congratulations - I've thought about you a few times today, and wondered whether your little one was here... So glad it all went well. I'm guessing they didn't have to rush you into an emergency section then, with your waters going? I hope everything worked out fine for you at home, with your DD's and your parents.
Well done, enjoy your cuddles with Zuleika.

Bodeccia · 21/05/2012 17:54

Hi ladies
Adèle Johanna arrived on Friday 18th weighing in at 8lb 11. We've just got back from the hospital. I'll post my birth story on the post natal thread in due time. We're all fine and totally loved up :)

Congratulations cewafwb, a great name :)

All the best to those of you waiting (and WAITING, God, I know what that was like...).

dreamingofanallotment · 21/05/2012 19:07

Congratulations catsy and bodeccia! :)

imissbrie · 21/05/2012 19:50

Ohh big Congratz ladies, really pretty names too!

Tostaky I saw ur from scotland, just on the off chance if ur from Glasgow maybe we could meet up once the babies are born! But chances are probs slim :P

Well not much to report here, went for a nap and once I woke up I wasn't contracting anymore but within an hour they started again. In the last hour they have became slightly more intense, so thing are going slow but as I said before I'm just over joyed that I seem to be going naturally and before DPs paternity leave runs out!

BlueCrane · 21/05/2012 19:56

Yeah Grin huge congrats to catsy and bodeccia Grin Been wondering how you are getting on today so fab news and lovely names too!

I've definitely felt a lot more positive today which has been good, and took myself out for a few hours for a wander around a local town centre and to buy the blank cards and a little teddybear shaped cutter so that I can make a start on the thank you cards. Although DM and DSD have come back to stay today so they will keep me occupied for the next few days...which may mean I don't get near the cards but at least I have the bits now Smile

lime you're very right that if LO does appear on 26th then that will eclipse the date significance from the MC...I think in my emotional state over the weekend I was just getting a bit frazzled by it all!

Has anyone else found that there bump seems to have changed shape quite a bit during these latter stages? DM hadn't seen me since thursday and says that I look quite different - almost that from the back you can no longer tell I have a bump and my 'waist' such that it is is more prominent again. I also feel quite different and can walk more normally with less waddling Confused wondering if bump has dropped a bit but was expecting that to make me feel less mobile rather than more IYSWIM?!

imissbrie great news on the contractions Smile here's hoping they keep up good progress and you get to meet you LO v soon!!

Right...must go and stop being antisocial!

tostaky · 21/05/2012 20:24

ooohhh congrats Catsy and Bodeccia!!

will check the post natal thread for your birth stories :)

imissbrie - it would be with pleasure but im in london, not scotland... must be someone else? good luck with the contractions.

i feel absolutly rotten today and it didnt help that i had a nap this afternoon.. i woke up with nausea and a headache... grrr... i feel so useless....
i did manage to bid on a few pushchairs and slings on ebay though

cupcakefairy · 21/05/2012 21:05

Hooray congrats catsy and bodeccia so pleased for you both. catsy hope it wasn't all too distressing for you, & bode you must be so relieved she's finally here! Adele is a gorgeous name, we considered it too.

tostaky I'm having acupuncture tomorrow too! Trying not to pin hopes on it but we'll see.. I'm not allowed on the mlu after weds so it's a race against time now!

Meeting with consultant went well & they've agreed to let me go an extra week..induction now booked for 29th and have to have CTGs starting thursday. All stuff I didn't want this time but never mind..could still happen naturally

Right, off to bounce on the ball some more while catching up with last night's desperate housewives!

LittleSarah · 21/05/2012 21:59

CONGRATULATIONS bodeccia and catsy! So pleased to hear about your little girls arriving!

Good luck imissbrie!

Leakage has stepped up a gear but still not as bad as its been before, need to put a cup in one side when feeding on the other!

Hope the weather is lovely for everyone, it is finally amazing here, we're all a bit pink! Not Finlay of course.... Blush

tostaky · 22/05/2012 05:10

I don't want to read too much into it but since last night I'm having tightenings.... Could this be the beginning of something? Grin
I'm seeing the midwife for a sweep later on, I will see if my cervix has changed st all.

dreamingofanallotment · 22/05/2012 06:01

Ooh totasky, sounds promising!

dreamingofanallotment · 22/05/2012 06:02

Tostaky even....sorry!

LimeFlower · 22/05/2012 10:03

Morning everybody:)

ooooooh, another 2 babieeeeees :o Congratulations catsy and bodeccia

imissbrie hope you'll get some family time before the paternity leave ends.I don't understand these people sometimes-I know you can give them your EDD but surely baby will appear when it's ready, not necessarily on the date?Unless it was your decision when to take it.
DH is not entitled to paternity leave due to recent work change but he's going to call his new boss once things start moving and take it from then.
Hope things progressed since last evening:)

BlueCrane bump here still intanct and shape not changing so much-wouldn't be surprised if baby has moved into different positions as not feeling any kicks at the front neither back-just gentle nudge on the side sometimes.

tostaky feeling cr@p might be the sign of labour approaching-happy bouncing

cupcake didn't know desperates are on as I haven't got tv,will try to watch some online.

Right then ladies, off to get dressed and waddle to the shop to get some milk along with some good meaning village folkadvice re sex, curry and rough offroading to send me on my way then some gardening's waiting-got some flowers to plant and weeds to pull.Have a nice day:)

LimeFlower · 22/05/2012 10:05

BTW,what are we doing about the thread?Start a new one here or move to postnatal(more sense)?
I know some of you are probably chatting on FB but I haven't got it and I'm not going to have.

tostaky · 22/05/2012 12:57

what about merging with the other may thread (if they dont mind?) or posting on the postnatal one?

imissbrie - have you had your baby?? :o

i went in for my sweep today, cervix is soft and effaced, im having braxton hicks but not contractions... nothing new really, a bit disappointed
only thing is ive had a bit of a show this morning and i am not entirely sure but it may have been accompanied with some waters... or was it pee.. i honestly dont know...
i did ask the midwufe about the hospital poilcy for waters leakage and vbac... well i would need to tell them my waters had leaked and then they would wait 18hrs before talking about a c-section... only 18hrs?!!!!
so im hoping it wasnt my waters, i didnt say anything to the midwife. if it happens again then maybe i'll tell them. i really would like to avoid a section again but i also have to think about the risk of infection and the baby...
i will go for a nice long walk later on...
the few tightenings i had yesterday have gone... not too sure what to do to encourage labour!!!

i hope evrybody is enjoying the nice weather!! :). :)

cupcakefairy · 22/05/2012 14:13

tostaky hope u don't get any more leakage! I've been having pinky discharge all day not sure what it is..
Had acupuncture thus morn, once she'd got all the needles in I felt massively sick & thought I was gonna vomit violently so she took them all out hurriedly! After a bit she just put the back ones back in for a while & they were fine. Think I've had a few contractions since but can't be sure Confused

luckynumber11 · 22/05/2012 16:31

Hi everyone. Good luck tostaky - it sounds like your body is gearing up to get going to me. Totally understand why you want it to get moving as I'm in the same position as you with the VBAC thing and if my body doesn't get on with things I will have the difficult decision next weds of whether to opt for a csection or take the risk for baby and me of artificial induction which I know is more dangerous than natural spontaneous labour... But I feel things are on the move for you!
Also cupcake - that sounds promising too, like a show?
Still no show, no painful tightenings here...don't mind as long as it happens by tues!
limeflower I'm like you, not on FB and don't intend to be, so I need to keep up with the chats on here. Shall we just start posting on the postnatal thread now ?

SESthebrave · 22/05/2012 16:46

Hello! Sorry I've been MIA. Thread has got really busy and I got a bit daunted at not missing anyone off on a post Blush

Congratulations to all those who are snuggling their new little ones - some lovely stories and some beautiful names :)

Good luck to tostaky , imissbrie and cupcake. Hope it won't be too long for either of you.

BlueCrane - my bump keeps moving but just limb movements I think. I was starting to get really annoyed last night as baby wouldn't stop wriggling! I also seem to have a bruise (as well as a load of stretch marks Blush ) around my belly button.

Lucky - I'm also in the VBAC camp Hope things happen before next Tuesday for you.

I'm only 39+2 though. Saw MW this afternoon and she is at least happy that baby is in the right position still and she's written 2/5 on my notes - is that 2/5 engaged do you think? That's more than 3/5 isn't it? Nothing much seems to be happening though and she's booked me another appointment for 1st June when - if still nothing happening, we'll discuss the option of a sweep. I asked if there was an option of induction or whether it would be an automatic CS if I went to 14 days overdue and she said there would be the option of an induction using the hormone drip but not the pessaries. I know I've fought for my VBAC but I really think I'd prefer an ELCS to an induction.

BlueCrane · 22/05/2012 17:54

Afternoon all! Well...I got about 3-4 hours sleep last night at LO seemed tobe moving a lot/possible Braxton Hicks and definite tightenings?!?!? Then this morning and throughout today I have had reasonably bad period type crampy pain and back ache soooo...wondering whether things are starting to happen. 39 weeks today! Have just photocopied my notes just in case! Of course oue LOs would choose one of the warmest weeks in the year to start making an appearance!! Actually will be very pleased if this is the start of things and hope it gets a move on (and that I manage to get some sleep before the really hard work starts!!).

Sorry not to reply individually but just wanted to do an update and must got and help DM sorting dinner...
