A new thread as the other one was ready to burst!
Thanks *Mikocat" for the new name.

LittleSarah · 16/04/2012 21:14

Oh, midwife also told me that the other home birth due the day before me has delivered already so no chance of overlap there!

Harecare · 16/04/2012 22:33

Dreaming - I had a disaster with purple sprouting broccoli last year - I didn't cut it when it got so high and was just waiting for it to sprout which it never did. Turned into a beast of a plant with nothing to eat!

Felt very faint and woozy this evening so didn't bounce. Made putting DDs to bed tricky. Could it be to do with the acupuncture I had today? I've got a pressure point on my leg to press.

For those with SPD - there is hope for the future!!! Mine is so much better this pregnancy. It kicked in at 26 weeks and I stopped walking ever since and have been dead careful and seeing a chiropractor since 5 weeks. This week I started walking to school again and despite it being an hour round trip I only had a bit of lower back ache! With DD1 and 2 it was sooo much worse, but went as soon as they were born.

LittleSarah · 17/04/2012 08:38

I also had a disastrous attempt at growing purple sprouting broccoli! Massive plants with no broccoli in sight absolutely smothered in caterpillars. Really disgusting, seven or so on a leaf! Still, my dad's was fab, not a creepie crawlie in sight so good luck to you dreaming! I have just planted a few beans myself and have some more planting to do but going to wait til tomorrow as ds is a away for a few hours and is a lot easier without him throwing compost everywhere!

In other news dreadful sleep last night. Hope this is not the start of a rough last month. Needed to wee three times between midnight and one, just couldn't get comfy, sharp kicks in pelvis and general back pain. What fun pregnancy can be! Smile

dreamingofanallotment · 17/04/2012 10:13

Ha, I won't expect much from the broccoli then and if it does grow I'll be pleasantly surprised! I've never grown it before - normally just do salad, peas, beans, garlic - but the garden of the house we've recently moved to is much bigger so I'm not confined to pots anymore! The seeds were cheap in Aldi so not much lost if it all goes wrong!

I too had a rubbish sleep last night - a combo of crampy legs, achy hips and a sore back. Urgh! I had a brilliant night's sleep the night before so I'm hoping for that again tonight! Hope you get a better night tonight too LittleSarah.

Harecare · 17/04/2012 13:01

I think the trick is to cut the top off when it reaches 6 inches. Why aren't my tomatoes sprouting?
Not faint today so will get bouncing again this evening.
LittleSarah - good news about the home birth, have you had one before?

LittleSarah · 17/04/2012 13:17

Harecare - My tomatoes took weeks to sprout but now they are growing well. Both my previous births were at home (and pretty great as births go) so hopefully this one will be as well. Don't think the low platelets will be an issue, midwife seemed very unconcerned.

Hello! I fell off the thread again Blush but am sat on the sofa at home with a silly cold at the moment so thought I'd have a roam around MN to cheer me up! Good to see that I've got company on the evil heartburn front too Angry woke me up three times last night with burning acid in my throat...which combined with the need to wee and not being able to breathe with this cold didn't really work for a good night's sleep!! But...just this week and next at work and then I'm off on mat leave which I am SO looking forward to!

Will just update my stats - no change except to say that we don't know what we're having!!

Bodeccia · 18/04/2012 12:07

Got my second ante-natal class today in our local children and families centre. The last one was quite good, although I was the only one there without my OH (sniff). I am also the first one due, which makes me a bit anxious about how late I've left everything...

OH is coming this afternoon though, it'll be the first time he actually comes to something officially childbirth related. I had a tour of the hospital a couple of weeks ago, and he couldn't come to that either. I'm a bit worried he's not going to be much use when push comes to shove iyswim. I'm glad he's coming today though :)

These have been my sleep patterns: I go to bed at 10pm or so. Fall asleep OK (except OH says I've been snoring really badly recently Blush). I wake up at 3am because of either heartburn, or SDP or restless legs. I don't get back to sleep until 6am. I should count my blessings really, because I don't have other children to look after and I can have naps in the afternoon, but I would dearly love a decent nights sleep. People have been saying it is all good preparation for lack of sleep when LO arrives, but screw that, she isn't even here yet!

Hope everyone is well :)

cupcakefairy · 18/04/2012 12:29

Hi ladies,
bodeccia I agree comments about bad sleep being good practise are stupid!! You want to store up some good energy for after! Hope the nights improve for you, I'm also waking a fair bit with heartburn & cramps, nasty.
Is it the Emma-Jane sleep bras you have? I absolutely loved mine last time so have bought another for this time, soo comfy & practical. (& enough room to shove a muslin in for leaky boobs in the early days!!)

new fab about the measurement going up, will be thinking of you tomorrow hope the scan is good news.

Little whinge from me- ds is being so difficult this morning just resisting everything & whining.. I feel so exhausted :( think he's just gone off to sleep now so I may have a small nap myself!

You ladies were right btw, 4/5ths did mean just 1/5 in pelvis. Baby has apparently moved to '3/5 palpaple or more' to quote the mw yest so we're going in the right direction! I'm officially 37wks today by hospital dates, but they put me a wk ahead of my own dates (& I'm v sure of my dates as I chart my cycles) so only 36 in my book.. we shall see!

goodname · 18/04/2012 18:24

Hello sorry I have not had a chance to read all the thread yet. Been getting tests and scans for last couple of days and turns out I have cholastis and am getting induced on Monday. I am a bit gutted as the last birth was quite straightforward in the water in the midwife led uint. Going to see baby soon though

Harecare · 18/04/2012 18:46

goodname I don't know what cholastis is, but I'm sorry things aren't straightforward. Exciting to know you'll see the baby soon though.
I'm soooooooooo tired! I keep waking 3/4ish and not getting back to sleep. DD2 was sick last night and DP just being hurtful so happy to be lying on the couch as he puts the girls to bed for first time in over a week.

tostaky · 18/04/2012 20:01

Hello!! How exciting to read about everybody getting ready for meeting their baby!!
Sorry about cholasis though. A friend has it, she got induced and the birth was straightforward enough. So here is hope for you!

Re-tiredness and testing children and back pain/spd - I tick all the boxes!!! I'm just glad we've hired a nanny for the evening because I don't see how I could manage otherwise! Well she is only coming 3 eve a week so tonight is difficult, I can barely move, the DsS are in the bath splashing everywhere and I have no energy left over... Can't wait for Dp to e home, unfortunately that will be when the DsS will be in bed..

Interviewing a doula tomorrow too...
And had midwife appointment today everything is great and since last birth was a successful vbac I can go to the lovely birth centre this time !!! Yay!!!

Have a good evening and I wish everyone a good night sleep!!Smile

LittleSarah · 18/04/2012 20:06

Goodname - Good luck with your induction! Read up a little on cholastis, very strange condition indeed! How exciting to think we will have baby no 2 within a week.

Sounds like things are moving along nicely for you cupcake. Which date is the one you feel is more likely, the 16th?

Sounds like we are all getting pretty tired although last night was not nearly as bad as the night before.

Hope your class was good bodeccia, my dh and I just did the one antenatal workshop last time (as I had been through it before and was v straightforward) but I don't know how much he took in. I have a feeling if I had a more normal length of labour he would be totally thrown!

Last day of work tomorrow! Pretty much done to be honest, just have a few bits to send out saying goodbye and this is what needs done, etc. Just be a relief to be officially finished!

Basse · 18/04/2012 21:47

bodeccia sounds like we are having exactly the same sleep patterns....wonderful! except mine also comes with a cough that wakes me up so bad i think I'll choke.

Is anyone else's baby feeling like they are trying to burrow a hole in your pelvis whilst simulatenously hacking away at your tummy with a pick-axe?! I have been torturted by the little charmer this way since last night!! Not impressed!

Hope for good sleep for everyone-I've been up since 4am and know I do so need it!

SirCharles · 18/04/2012 23:11

Ladies sleep well tonight. I am hoping to get more than 4 hours.....
Btw - can anyone recommend any music please? Lullabies to play to the bump & then baby when it appears AND music to play when I am in labour.
I don't have a clue!!!
Look forward to your suggestions.

OP posts:
cupcakefairy · 18/04/2012 23:13

sarah yep 16th is what I make my due date based on ovulation; dating scan put me at 9th. So frustrating cos ds was sooo late I just have no idea when to expect this baby & want to be in the mindset of going 42 weeks but also need to expect it from the 9th?! Gah we shall see..!

basse yes! To what you described! I'm getting quite a lot of stabby pains deep in pelvis too, baby must have something sharp on that head!!

BlueCrane · 18/04/2012 23:35

V hormonal and emotional tonight. Just back from work 'farewell' dinner which wasn't that at all really and was actually a total waste of an evening especially when I'm feeling so rough with this silly cold! Just really fed up with my boss and colleagues and quite down about their whole approach to my leaving etc. I have another week to go and the norm is that a card is sent around and a collection done for a gift and then a small presentation on the last day, but my department is sooooo useless and I normally have to sort anything of this nature out so they probably won't manage anything for me, which after 6 years of hard graft for the company and feeling as though being made a little bit of a fuss of might be nice I'm trying v v hard not to get my hopes up but just feel quite sad about the whole thing. DH not pleased either and wants to give my boss a good talking to but that's not really appropriate so guessing i just need to wait and see.

I'm also getting lots of stabby type pains from beany and he or she shifts around and they're getting increasingly painful! Sooo bunged up with this silly cold too!

34week mw app in the morning, can't believe I could still have 8 weeks to go, feel so heavy and uncomfortable that I don't even want to contemplate having to wait that long, as well as getting bigger, heavier and more uncomfortable in the mean time!

Sorry for the moan ladies...

Bodeccia · 19/04/2012 09:02

((((( bluecrane )))))

I just got a card and a Thortons cake from my lot after I've given quite a lot over the years in birthday/baby shower/leaving/wedding gifts/flowers for funerals etc. And I bloody run the department! It doesn't mean they don't appreciate you, it just means that they're a bit crap. You'll forget it all when you're on maternity leave, and maybe they're a superstitious bunch who don't want to give anything until the baby actually appears. Don't take it personally, and you haven't left yet - maybe there's still something round the corner.

My ante-natal class went well, although I was surprised at the MW's comments about ELCS. I've been stalking the April thread as I've an early May baby (looks slightly guiltily at cupcake who - I think - was doing the same thing...!). Basically I was under the impression that giving birth was all about choice, if you wanted an ELCS you could have one. Some of the April women wanted CS because of whatever reason and they were being strongly discouraged from having one. The MW yesterday said that you couldn't choose to have a CS and you would only have one because of a medical complication (like breech/complicated labour etc). I was surprised at that, I thought you could have an ELCS if you wanted on the NHS.

sarah: I'm having on a loop at the hospital.

LimeFlower · 19/04/2012 12:05

Morning everybody:) by the time I'll finish this post might be afternoon,ha,ha

Sir Charles happy unpacking but take it slowly.Heartburn-mine one kicked in as soon as I laid my head on the pillow-having glass of milk for my last drink has helped a lot.

Wrigglebum congrats on reaching full term :) thanks for the info about the towels, but housebrick type-I'm walking already like a cowboy.

Newtothis give us a shout how did the scan go.Keeping fx that they confirm the good news.

LittleSarah bummocks about retesting but it's for your own good.Hopefully it will be fine.At least no overlap at home birth.

dreaming I'm shameful to admit that but the garden is at the bottom of my list-I just can't be bothered

Harecare a big (hug) to you and all your girls

Bodeccia-I'm with you when it comes to snoring,my DH has been wearing earplugs to bed and started talking about moving to the other room. It's so loud that I managed to wake myself.Talking about sinus problems, nose bleeds and bile in my throat causing me rattle and cough. The only one thing they could offer me at the surgery was something "relatively safe for humans but teratogenic for the other mammals" Shock .I refused.

goodname sorry about your condition but at leat they caught it in time and will look after you.

BlueCrane sorry to hear about your dinner, that's rubbish :(
Try not to think about having 8 weeks as it's so far away,I keep thinking about my EDD and it's 5 weeks away, eek!I know that baby will come out when it feels like it,might be less might be more then 5 weeks.

Don't feel like doing much,so just relaxing today after running like mad for the last few days-shopping,trips to the city, cooking to stock up the freezer.House is a mess everywhere.
DH working like mad,6 days a week-unfortunately due to his recent work change he's not entitled to paternity leave:( I feel very uncomfy to ask him to clean up the house a little bit as he's working such hours now.
Ordered last bits for the baby from amazon-new cot mattress, bath, fitted sheets and changing mat-can't be bothered to run around the shops.Got the changing mat yesterday-it's so sweet that makes me smile everytime I look at it.

LimeFlower · 19/04/2012 12:17

Posted too quickly...

Feeling like shit sometimes but mainly related to my nose/throat/sinuses.I also got sore backbone just at the bottom and sore ladybits-whinging everytime I have to turn in bed,go upstairs or just sit down.Telling myself to shut up and get on with it-the memory of mc is still alive in my mind so I'm grateful to be 35 weeks pg.

Furniture delivery tomorrow-our room will be absolutely crammed as there's no space anywhere else(old furniture still in the other rooms).

Was going to make this perineal massage-never got round to do it-just no time really/too knackered.

MIL has offered to come and help when the baby is born-that's so lovely of her, she's a darling and so nice to have around.

Appointment at hospital next Friday-will be 36 weeks, just wondering why and what's the purpose of it.Mw at 38 weeks-if I last till then...

Off my lazy backside and clean up a bit-will leave havy duty stuff for DH,will start packing the bagfor thr hospital-something I'm looking forward to instead of boring cleaning

Take care everybody x

cupcakefairy · 19/04/2012 12:58

bodeccia yeah am stalking the April thread slightly too Grin mainly out of curiosity re inductions but there seem to have been some positive stories of it on there so that's good. Am meeting with a v good friend of my family who is a mw in my area, next wk.. she's agreed to be at the delivery of this one so will be my sort of advocate/doula, am really hoping that will make me feel more relaxed about the whole process!

bluecrane massive hugs to you, totally know how you feel! I'm always the one to organise stuff like that in our social circles/families & it is pants when people don't think of you in return. Was having a massive moan about this to dh last night actually Blush not necessarily gifts but just time & company I would appreciate v much right now when I'm sooo tired!

lime I'm also grunting & moaning turning over in bed! Can't wait to be able to lie down normally again! Rubbish dh won't get pat leave but good you'll have mil around. Lol at the changing mat making you smile.. you'll be sick of the sight of it after cleaning poo from it several times a day!! Grin

goodname Eek, so we will def have another baby next week, how exciting.. really hope you're feeling ok. Sorry it won't be the birth you expected but induction doesn't always = bad.. try a search on here for positive induction stories. Best of luck to you x x x

cupcakefairy · 19/04/2012 13:01

Ooh & charles re music, I didn't have any in hospital but bil bought us a cd called lullaby renditions of coldplay which was really lovely to play in the early days, v relaxing & ds seemed to like it.. think you can get them for lots of different bands.

LittleSarah · 19/04/2012 14:10

bluecrane - Your work folk sound rubbish but you aren't alone. I doubt I'll get more than a few good luck emails! I work for a Society who all have other (full-time) jobs and are based all over the place so I'm sure not one of them will have thought about doing anything. We did used to have a great, proactive administrator who would have organised something I'm sure but her replacement is still finding her feet and is v uncertain about the whole organisation so no help there! Of course working from home alone means you don't really make friends with your colleagues so I can't complain really. Would be nice to think I'd get some kind of token acknowledgement but quite sure it won't happen.

Re work, I have finished! Just sent off my last invoice and my big maternity handover email. I'm sure my friend who is covering will be phoning with questions, particularly in the first few weeks but I don't mind that.

Lime - I also need to start thinking a bit more about cleaning. Tidying dd's bedroom this morning I couldn't help feeling I should be cleaning out under the bed... then there is the kitchen shelves and the garden, not so much the planting, just a build up of junk to clear...again. Argh. Well, will get dh on the latter this weekend. Plus my mum suggested asking my sisters for the some help and I think I shall. I never ask them to help out, even with the kids - due to their schedules and distance - so a wee help with the spring cleaning might be doable!

Got my blessingway tomorrow! Tis a new agey sort of ritual thing about celebrating your labour and wishing you luck with birth/baby. Mine will not be hugely spiritual (you can adapt however you like really) although we will have a blessing at the beginning. Then it is just friends and food really, and some birth stories. All the women bring a bead and you string them all onto a piece of wool/wire and I wear the bracelet until I give birth, the idea being that when you look at it you are reminded of all the women who support you. Also I think we are giving each woman a candle to light when they hear I am in labour (or when they hear baby has been born if it all happens too quickly or too early in the morning to phone anyone)! Anyway, really looking forward to it. Great way to kick start maternity leave.

How are all the knitters getting on? Any completed projects? I am still working away on stripey blanket.

cupcakefairy · 19/04/2012 15:47

That's such a lovely idea sarah I want a blessing bracelet! :) I'm reading Caitlin Moran's book How to be a Woman at the mo & just read about her hideous first birth but much better second one, which she mainly puts down to a better mental attitude & to walking loads while in labour..so I am taking note!! Positivity is the way.
Blanket nearly halfway there.. should pick it up now while I think of it (and ds is watching cbeebies as its raining & car is in the garage..boo!)
