Bodeccia - welcome! Had my 36+3 scan today (having had one fortnight ago and they wanted me back because of big measurements).
Fortnight ago measured 8lbs 3oz, today 8lbs 4oz. Basically doc fortnight ago messed up a bit with measurements, causing me lots of unnecessary worry. DD was 10lbs 5oz, so expecting a big one, and will just be happy if it's not too much bigger again.
Had a dream that I was on the front of our local newspaper for having had such a big baby!!!
Fear not, take the drugs, don't be a martyr, all will be well... (she convinces herself) :)

LimeFlower · 14/04/2012 07:59

Morning ladies:)

So that's me then officially finished at work-taking some holiday first and maternity leave kicks off 2 weeks before my EDD(couldn't start it later).

Hopefully will have more time to follow the thread and write a bit more.Off to catch up with all your news

So...who's first one to pop?Any April takers?:)

LimeFlower · 14/04/2012 09:57

mythical lovely pics on your profile.Have to chase DH for a photo session as I haven't got any bump pics.Join the club with pushing from the inside-little one is either dancing or football playing.Thank goodness the limbs are at the front so my belly takes most hits-can't imagine being kicked just under my ribs, ouch!
SirCharles hope you've settling in your new place
Newtothis we're cracking at the names, the list is ready but no final choice-we'll wait until its born and see which name "suits" the baby.

to those having CS-good luck, hope you'll make speedy reovery. It is a bit weird knowing the birth date before, isn't it?

try not to worry about the size, some people have bigger babies, some have smaller ones.As long as they keep an eye on you it should be fine. There's plenty of threads on MN about getting the measurements wrong.

Welcome bodeccia and beeboles

LimeFlower · 14/04/2012 10:17

Just managed to post without being kicked off, yeeeeaaaaahhhh!

Garden's getting neglected, should put the onions in but what's the point when it's frosty?Tomatoes are sprouting nicely on the windowsill, not doing the chillies this year.Hoping for warmer summer this year,as the last one was bummer.

Well,I'm Mrs. now,we got hitched over 2 weeks ago, overall everything went well except a few glitches. Now,where do I start about changing my name?

Had my 34 weeks appointment, baby head down but not engaged.Put 18 kilos on since the beginning and yes,my backside is a bit bigger but still the same size of clothes.Mw told me not to worry but don't eat junk please.

MIL managed to knit 3 or 4 wee jumpers/jackets in neutral colour, now she's finishing blue and starting on a pink one-she was very keen to start on "proper" colour.

Picked up 2nd hand Mothercare cotbed for 20£ from Gumtree and gave it a good scrub. It's lovely. Now just need to buy the matress, some bedsheets, baby bath and changing mat.Afer that I've got pretty much everything.

I'll have to start packing the hospital bag, bits and bobs lying everywhere, hope will manage to gather them all.

Stupid question:how these BH contractions feel?I didn't feel anything like a contraction, except that in the last few days my belly goes hard sometimes.

Another one but more embarassing:should I try to tackle the bushes in ladygarden or not to bother? Blush

Getting on with small jobs around the house, defrosting the freezer just now, going food shopping on Monday and will start cooking ready meals to be handy in the 1st week.MIL has offered to come and give us a hand when bubba is born.

I can't sit any longer with my legs together-not only because my belly gets in the way, also have a strange feeling of my pelvis being lower.Waddling properly and started to have a discomfort around my downstairs department.

Off for a snooze now,not getting much sleep-combination of working on nightshift and tossing and turning in the night struggling to get comfy,so will catch up with you later...zzzzzz

ballroompink · 14/04/2012 10:32

Another one here who has dropped off the thread due to being really busy in my last couple of weeks at work! So work is now over and done with, antenatal classes are over and done with, 35+2 today. Kind of struggling with adjusting to being at home after being used to a busy job.

The past couple of weeks I've really been starting to feel more uncomfortable (so sore at the bottom of my back/top of my bum) and as if I'm dragging a huge extra weight around. Pleased to discover at mw appointment on Tues that Baby is head down (which I'd suspected anyway thanks to all the pokes and kicks to my ribcage!).

My house has been DIY hell for the past couple of weeks thanks to DH and FIL fitting a new bathroom. It's still not quite finished but at least I can now shower at home again.

Oh, and we've finally decided on a girl's name, having had the boy's name sorted since the start. Good to see that everyone is doing ok :)

tostaky · 14/04/2012 18:30

hello!

nice to hear that everyone is getting ready for D-day!!!

this morning i went to pregnancy yoga for the first time this pregnancy and it was great!!
it all starts to feel real...
hospital bag is packed with essentials and im planning to wash all the baby clothes next week...
been looking for a doula too :-)

am absolutly shattered though and im starting to feel breathless too... too much weight i think

have a great weekend everybody!!

Yorky · 14/04/2012 19:10

Congratulations Mrs Limeflower (+Mr!), hope the glitches were minor and didn't spoil your day.

Met up with DB and SIL and DN today to take kids to diggerland - it was cold but they had a great time, I am now cuddling a mug of tea and defrosting while DH puts DC to bed - how do they have any energy left?!

Nice to see people starting to finish work - and not having time to MN as much Grin

cupcakefairy · 14/04/2012 20:21

Hi ladies,
Wow, I'm getting so excited to start hearing some birth announcements now...come on, who's going to pop next??? I had a little lurk on the April babies thread earlier and saw they had loads of March babies! There's also loads of them talking about how to go about refusing induction etc which gave me a horrible sense of deja vu! I'm just hoping beyond hope this one doesn't get to that stage (went to 40+17 with ds and finally gave in to induction...really really don't want to have to make that decision again :()

Welcome to beeboles and bodeccia, good to have you with us...and welcome back to some others who had fallen off! :) We probably need an updated list now don't we as there don't seem to be many of us left on here!!

lucky I don't think you're mad at all going away without dh.. having your parents there will make a huge difference so hopefully they can entertain dds1+2 while you snuggle with dd3 :) We are hoping to go away this summer with ILs in their caravan.. we did when ds was about 3 months and it worked well :) (just not that much fun for the rest of the campsite when he cried in the night!! Grin)

sarah eek to possible crossover of homebirths...it is very unlikely to happen though I suppose. Fingers crossed!

newtothis :( sorry you have a bit of a worry on your hands now but at least they are monitoring it..and you could have your lo as soon as next week, very exciting! Hope she will have grown though.

wriggle congrats on getting a date! So exciting!

dreaming no talk of stomach muscles here...but I do remember seeing that woman on the documentary about sextuplets having surgery to bring hers back together!! Shock sure yours won't be quite as drastic as that though Grin...6 babies, just can't even comprehend it!!

oltob absolutely not true that second baby is always bigger...know plenty of people who have had smaller 2nd babies. One friend had a 9lb15 boy then an 8lb girl. I'm living in hope mine will be a lovely 7lb-er Grin (ds was 8lbs exactly so not huuuuuge but he still never felt teeny-weeny)

Congrats to all those finishing work, and bigger congrats to limeflower on the wedding- fab!! I'm not sure on the BH but I have heard it's like bump is really tightening...I think I've had one or two this pregnancy but can't be sure!

tostaky how is your back? Did the yoga help at all? My sciatica has eased a little this week but I have had some days of having to take paracetamol and walk around with my mini hot water bottle stuck into my jeans waistband Grin- good look!

Anyway, gonna go scoff pizza and watch some mindless drivel (The Voice, BGT Blush) with my lovely dh now...just cannot believe in 4 or so weeks we will have the company of a tiny one in the room with us Shock

oltob · 14/04/2012 22:14

very topical cupcake, I was booked to have induction at 40+12 last time, then went into labour at +10. They wanted to put me on a drip anyway as my BP was up but I managed to avoid. As I turned 40 (yrs) in Feb I think they'll be encouraging induction at 40wks so am in two minds what to do. Think I will be trying anything and everything from about 38wks (eek in a week!) including a sweep as early as they'll let me, think 39 wk. I'm sure I have seen a few good induction stories on here though, even if they are few and far between.
apologies for stream of consciousness - you struck a chord there. right off to check the April thread and see what the latest thinking is.

Harecare · 14/04/2012 22:28

Hello all! Been away a while, but getting excited now so back! I fully intend having an April baby, my dates are officially 28th April, but I joined the May thread many moons ago before the dating scan - I'm May 2nd according to me.

Did my last bit of work before the baby comes today and I'm hoping for a restful 2 weeks with DD1 at school and DD2 still taking an afternoon nap.

I've been bouncing for an hour on an exercise ball each night, drinking raspberry leaf tea and bathing in clary sage oil. Any other tips I can try? I'm getting acupuncture from my chiropractor on Monday.

I've crocheted a lovely cardigan for DD3 and sewed a pretty nappy holder.

I was going to go for a home birth, but they've got a swanky midwife led unit beside our hospital so I'm going to have the baby there hopefully.

sanitary towels - I suddenly remembered that I need to stock up on some big fat ones. I completely forgot how necessary they'll be.

cupcakefairy · 14/04/2012 22:46

oltob here's hoping both of ours decide to get their butts in gear by themselves. Ds was op so I was told labour would prob never have started spontaneously.. thankfully I only had the pessary not drip but still ended in hideous forceps delivery. Just hoping & praying this time is completely different. I need to start on the raspberry leaf tea!

Hi harecare.. Envy of your crochet.. I really want to learn!

LimeFlower · 14/04/2012 23:11

Thank you very much:)

Harecare ,you traitor Wink hope everything's fine at home
cupcake I also had a look today at April thread-shocked how many popped in March

Gosh,i'm crossing my legs as I definitely want a May one,and on date would be perfect-I found out that my lovely late neighbour's b-day was on my EDD so keeping my fingers crossed.

in 2 minds just now-the not so wee one is wriggling, stretching, jumping and goodness knows what else so looking forward to have it out of me and cuddle.I just can't wait to meet her/him.

towels-got the night ones that are supposed to be longer and absorb more than ordinary ones.

SirCharles · 15/04/2012 06:24

Morning all!! Wakey Wakey - come & play!! Some of us have been awake since 5am due to Death by Acid Hell - aka heart burn. Shame DH is breathing so loudly as it is really IRRITATING me......

Anyone else suffering?
So we got the keys on Thursday - woo hoo. Storage contents arrived Friday. Gawd I was tired by Friday night & it felt like I had barely lifted a finger to help all day - how on earth all the boxes are going to get unpacked I do not know. I know, One box at a time!! & fingers crossed have enough time to sort it all put before Bubba arrives.
DH returns to SA tonight for 4 days. Am feeling sanguine about it but it will be weird after spending every day together for the last 4 months. He will miss me & Bubba too - even told the Bump that last night!!
The hypno birthing classes + NHS classes over the last 2 weeks have really made an impact on him - really connected us both & helped him bond with Bubba. V mixed emotions watching him - makes it all v real for me. 35+1 now - B can come any time in the next 2-7 weeks - crikey!!!!!!!
We have a lovely doula booked For the birth & any post natal support I need in case DH is still overseas - yippee. have been reassured he should have enough time to get back tho as 1st babies take a while. Our hypno birth teacher also recommended talking to B to encourage him/her to come at a weekend when DH is here..... Well, if they can turn a breach baby it is worth a go Grin
Started NCT classes in local area yesterday. Seem to be some lovely people so might even make a few yummy mummy friends to hang out with!
Right, apologies for stream of consciousness. Good luck to everyone for the last few weeks & hope the discomforts are out weighed by the joy of meeting LOs soon Smile

OP posts:
Wrigglebum · 15/04/2012 08:14

Good morning all Smile. Well, I'm 37 weeks today so officially full term! Seems quite crazy really, and at the most I only have 15 days left- gulp Shock. Baby is really low down and I've got such a waddle that I'm really wondering if I'll make it as far as my CS date but babies are unpredictable. DS was born at 39+5 (I knew he'd be a little early as no child of mine could dare to be unpunctual Grin).

Congratulations of the wedding lime and welcome back to the thread harecare. Glad everything is falling into place nicely sircharles. Sounds like everyone is starting to get mentally and practically prepared now!

Quick thought on towels- try to avoid any that have dry weave type top sheets as stitches can get caught up in them- ouch! Maternity towels are minging but if you do end up with a lot of stitches they can offer a bit of much needed padding so it might be worth getting a pack or two of the housebrick style just in case.

Had a session in a flotation tank yesterday, was very relaxing and lovely to feel weightless (until I had to drag my considerable frame out again)! They said they get a lot of late pregnancy ladies in. Baby was rather calm throughout which was nice as I expected it to be dancing a jig in there whilst I had a rare chance at relaxation.

I'm starting to get so knackered and grumpy I feel ashamed. Have shouted at DS a few times recently and I never normally do, burst into tears the other day and he came and gave me hugs and asked how he could make me better.

Twittwooo · 15/04/2012 09:08

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join you? I'm 33+4 and due on 30th May, so it could be a June baby but I'm sticking with May for the moment!

HeidiHole · 15/04/2012 11:06

Welcome twitt! I hope you manage to squeeze into May :)

There is so much news on this thread! sircharles it must be such a relief to be in the house, getting settled and starting to unpack.

harecare maybe you'll be our second baby (we already had Sophia quite a while ago now!)

I had a 35 weeks scan and turns out he is 7lb! oh my goodness.. so far there is no talk of them doing anything about it but my midwife says they may re-evaluate closer to the date. I"m really scared about having a full labour AND then an EMCS to haul out a 2 stone chubby baby! I'm hoping his growth rate slows he will be huge! damn pregnancy vitamins

Harecare · 15/04/2012 11:45

cupcake fairy - it's easier than knitting, once someone starts you off you'll be flying!
limeflower - The most important change at home is that I am positive about the baby. No point in talking about the negatives. DDs are VERY excited and DPs mum bought an incredibly frilly outfit for DD3 to wear to her aunty's wedding 5th May. She really needs to make an early appearance!
sircharles - my friend leant me a hypno birthing CD and book. I like the rainbow relaxation before I go to sleep at night.
heidihole - hope so! At my 36 +5 week presentation scan she was 7lb9, so I want her out before she gets any bigger! DDs 1 and 2 were both 8lb8 and I'd quite like D3 to be the same for ease of memory.
twittwooo - welcome!!!
wrigglebum - with sanitary towels I remember buying the cheapest own brand ones before as they don't seem to last long no matter what type they are. I only had stitches with DD1 and don't remember a problem. I get grumpy with DDs too and they're both lovely and very good. I do explain that I'm not really grumpy with them I'm just tired and then they're all sympathetic!
sircharles - I want yummy mummy friends! A good friend of mine made great friends through NCT and they still meet up in the evenings without kids - bliss!

LittleSarah · 15/04/2012 17:24

Lime - Congrats on your wedding! My garden has been a bit neglected recently too but I did manage to shift onions from cold frame to raised bed today, really couldn't be bothered but still seems so much to do so I'm glad I managed something. My tomato seedling are also sprouting nicely.

Ballroom - I'm also starting to feel more uncomfortable now. Baby seems to have dropped but still get quite breathless, I can imagine I'll be right whingey in a couple of weeks.

cupcake - I also have been lurking on April, six babies in March! So nice to read all the birth announcements, can't wait til we start.

Hopefully it sounds like harecare might be one of the next to go. You sound very prepared harecare, I am also on the raspberry leaf tea but no birth ball or clary sage. Do fancy a birth ball...hmmmm. Also fancy crochet but don't know anyone who can teach me.

I had completely forgotten about big pants to put those big pads in!

Welcome Twittwoo! Is this your first? We probably should start a final list, or we need to add our newcomers onto the most recent one...

Wrigglebum - Ooooh I'd love a float! Not sure I could squeeze into costume anymore and seems a bit late for maternity one. Still have my competition prize to use (free swim and lunch at locak spa) but think it may be a while before I can go along. Am a bit of a numpty really, should have booked in sooner...

Heidi - Maybe your little (big) one will be ready to join us earlier than expected. I can't imagine this one going over EDD, just have a feeling he won't go over (probably be proved wrong!) but hoping if I do go early it won't be before May, still not quite ready.

Lamb - How is little Sophia getting on?

Last week of work next week! Can't wait to finish up and have some chill time. Well as much chill as you can have with two kids and a doula course to complete. Wink

Twittwooo · 15/04/2012 20:19

Thanks for the welcomes everyone! Yes, this is my first so we are about to embark on unknown territory! Lovely to hear about how everyone else is getting on, it's quite nice to be due at the end of the month so I can hear everyone else's stories first! xx

LimeFlower · 15/04/2012 22:36

So...37 weeks is considered as full term?which means according to this I'll be ready to pop in less than 3 weeks??? Shock no way Jose! crossing my legs tightly

Hi twit,so nice to see you here :) i was a bit sad about being at the end of the list and couldn't see the advantages-the joy of being impatient.

Mikocat · 16/04/2012 08:05

Hello ladies, sorry I've been so quiet but I'm just miserable at the moment, I feel so huge and FULL. The SPD is driving me mad too. Not to mention bloody ENORMOUS feet that just will not go down, they are so painful and tight at times. I'm strictly flip-flops only right now. 38 weeks tomorrow.

Sir Charles - I feel your pain on the acid reflux in the night, mine has come back with a vengeance! Try not to worry too much about the boxes, I'm in the same situation, but I figure that the baby won't mind! :-)

I've been to two of my NCT classes, I think we could potentially strike up a good friendship with some of the people there, all around our age too, which is good as we thought we might be really old in comparison to the others (39 and 40).

I had a growth scan last week, just because of the change in hospital - apparently all is fine for the dates and baby is head-down. Estimated weight was 6lb 5oz, so I'd be happy not for her to get too much bigger in the next two weeks.

Maternity bras - got measured last week at Mothercare - 38D! I bought 2 there and some others online as I had some vouchers from Figleaves, one really nice one for special occasions and two bog-standard ones for everyday.

Bodeccia · 16/04/2012 09:19

Morning all

I thought I'd post the most recent list I could find so we could update it with new people (like me :o ) and ELCS etc. I've put other people in (as I can read on this page and from what I remember), but feel free to update your own stats.

Feeling huge - check
SDP - check
Terrible heartburn - check
Restless legs - check (this is a new one Confused )

I have to get maternity bras. I'm a bit concerned that I have always been a bit mahoosive on the boob front. I remember when bravissimo/figleaves came out and being delighted at not having to wear bras that look like they're made from bandages. I looked briefly at the mothercare website and they're advertising that they do up to J. I'm not sure that will cut it. I'm using the maternity sleep bras at the mo - really like the support they give (and that boobs are in the right place rather than under the armpit/trapped under the waist/knee/wherever...)

And on that note...

Hey everyone
GrinGrinGrin just thought I needed to share.. I just been to the midwife and my fundus measurement is gone up to 31.5 Grin even tho I'm 35+3 I'm so happy.
I know it's the growth scan on Thursday that is the thing that counts but I can only
See it as a positive sign that she's grown and I wont have to have her this week GrinGrinGrinGrin fingers crosses

LittleSarah · 16/04/2012 15:52

Hey there new, glad you have had some growth, hopefully it will be reflected in the scan come Thursday.

Well I had weird phone call from midwife, platelets are a bit low and they want her to retest blood. She didn't really think it necessary as they are measuring 151 and anything between 150 and 400 is normal! Anyway hospital have asked for retest so I'm going in on Thursday. I looked up low platelets and seems to be total non issue anyway, can mean a little more likely to bleed during/after labour, or during operation/epidural (if having) but they don't even know how low they have to be to increase the likelihood of this. So, seems like a waste of time but will do the retest!

dreamingofanallotment · 16/04/2012 20:19

What a pain about the blood retest littlesarah I guess at least they're being proactive and checking it out, even if it's very very unlikely there's a problem. Hope it all comes back clear.

That's great news about the fundus height measurement new fingers crossed that it's the same news on Thursday.

I hear you on the terrible heartburn bodeccia it's rubbish isn't it. I've found a glass of milk before bed helps a bit. Tonic water and bananas are meant to be good for restless legs.

I met up with the girls from my nct class today for coffee and cake which was lovely. One of the mums had her baby 4 weeks early and she brought him along today so I got to have some cuddles with a teeny baby...he was sooo sweet! Makes it all feel v real though, eek!

My back is killing me today - I'm finding I can't reach the sink/work top etc so I think I bend over at the top of my back, it's v annoying. I think I overdid it gardening yesterday too which probably doesn't help. Did finally get some sweet peas planted though and planted out my baby strawberry plants - and I'm ready to plant some other bits and bobs like purple sprouting broccoli and beans, so that's tomorrow's job!

Å´elcome twittoooo!
