Warlin I've not had the GTT thingy my bob either, I'm sure if we had needed one we would have had one. By the sounds of it, I'm glad not to have to fast.
Kayzr Poor you, hope you can wrap yourself up today and have a duvet day, sounds like you need one.

I've got no interest in work today, I just want to be at home watching random crap telly with my feet up. Alas that wouldn't pay the bills. Not long to go now til DH
gets back from Afghan, just over 2 months and I can't wait, mind you, his work are being a bit awkward about his leave and his paternity leave, but I'm sure all will come right in the end.
Hope eveeyone is having a good day take care all xx

bemybebe · 15/03/2012 10:42

I was not asked for GTT and had no idea what it was until this thread. Smile

Miniangel · 15/03/2012 11:17

I am dreading my GTT as well. It's next Friday but have to eat high carb diet 3 days before and then fast overnight. 2 hours in the hospital waiting room seems ghastly.

Blondie and Cathfin Hope you both recover from your infections.
Kayzr Hope you start feeling better soon and the doc can tell why you keep getting these and give you something to prevent them?
Fanbelt This baby might surprise you by going full term and being big. You never know. Fingers crossed. Your GTT exp is reassuring.

CathFin · 15/03/2012 11:43

Kayzr - I'm still totally bunged up too - a bit of sunshine today might help. Hope you get an appointment with the doctor.

Warlin - I have never had a GTT, I think as long as they don't find sugar in your urine and there is no family history then its not necessary?

Sorry TDW I have just sat in bed knitting while watching Breaking Dawn part 1 - think I deserve a morning off considering though.

Right - time to get dressed!

thedogwalker · 15/03/2012 12:55

Oh Cathfin I'm sooooooooo Envy of your morning. What you getting dressed for, if you don't have to Grin

Warlin · 15/03/2012 13:15

Oh that's good to hear I'm not the only one out of the GTT club :) I have been getting urine tested so I'm sure they'd give me one if necessary...they sounds pretty horrendous though.

cath and kayzr sorry you are both not well. Very Envy of your douvet day cath...it's so lovely and sunny here, hateful being stuck in work.

TDWnot long to do for your DH....it will great to have him back. Is that him home for good or has he another tour to do? They better give him paternity leave.....surely they have to legally?

Signing the contracts for our house tmw...only 2 weeks until the move day..so much to do and so little time Shock. Can't wait to get settled and start nursery decoration!

thedogwalker · 15/03/2012 13:26

Warlin how exciting with the move. Bit of an upheaval for you but worth it in the end.

That will be DH home for good, well until the next time they send him, on average every 2 years. But because he still technically works from Germany, he has to go back there before he can come to the family home. I moved from Germany last year as I too am in the same job and when I came back to work from maternity leave they posted me away from DH. I have asked that this time, as I will have been living apart from DH for 15 months when he is finally assigned here, that they do not move me again when I return from this maternity leave. I don't think I could cope being a weekday single working mother of 2 Hmm.

I still have no desire to do any work today, but I do have cravings for toffee crisps, £1 for 4 in Lidl Grin

ffnorm · 15/03/2012 16:00

The other day,I typed a whole long post and it disappeared Confused now can't remember what I said...
Though I want to say huge congrats to stunt - I often wonder what has happened to those who have stopped posting or those who left us like JJbean Sad so it's so nice to hear of good news!!

I must look very pregnant now as yesterday I got offered 3 seats on the tube during rush hour Grin

Got my "28" week app with midwife tomorrow even though I am 27 weeks.so hoping it will go well,Strangely it is the 1st time I will see a midwife (since booking) as I saw a consultant at 16 weeks.

Going to sit now and work out exactly when I'm going to stop work as I have annual leave owing me etc but obviously a little mumsnetting was most important 1st Grin

Shelduck · 15/03/2012 16:04

Thanks everyone for you all your advice and support. I've decided to aim to take the 2 weeks. One thing I forgot to mention is that my BP is up - 130-something/89, which didn't sound too awful at the time, but I've gone back and looked at my notes and the diastolic is normally 70-80 - so not good at all. (I'm apparently bucking the low-BP trend on this thread!) So I'm going to keep checking in with MW for BP checks, take up any offers of counselling I get, and see how things go. If I'm feeling OK, I might do some work from home next week - it would just be routine bread-and-butter stuff, which isn't the thing that's stressing me out at the moment, and would also make the biggest difference to my team.

Sorry that everyone is feeling so rough at the moment! Sad

Seriously - things sound very hectic for you, but very exciting. Your nesting instinct is obviously coming out in quite a unique and musical way!

Fanbelt - thanks for reporting on your GTT experience. I have mine next week. I don't do very well without breakfast at the best of times, so it's going to be interesting to see how I react. Might have to take a hamper with me for emergency picnic in the car park straight afterwards!

Warlin and Blondie - good luck with your house moves. I bet you're looking forward to being able to start getting stuff sorted out for LO's arrival.

TDW - you must be so looking forward to having your DH back again. I really hope the situation with paternity leave and longer term postings works out OK.

Right - as I'm off work, I'm going to go and watch Midsomer Murders with Brew and Biscuit. I'm putting the kettle on if anyone wants one while I'm up?...

Warlin · 15/03/2012 16:22

sheld, yes please, I'll have a Brew and a toffee crisp...who mentioned toffee crisps!!

all my cravings so far have been for lids stuff....started off as babybel. then milky bar buttons, then hot dogs and chicken drumsticks (weird given I haven't eaten meat for 12 years!) and now its ice lollies! I have been eating porky pears, rocky raspeberries and twisters yum yum!

TDW sounds like you did a great job to get pregnant at all with all that time apart! Must be very unsettling not knowing where you will be etc. I worked away for a year Mon- Fri and was obsessed about getting home when ovulating :) Hope DH gets to stay with you for the next 2 years as it would be tough being apart with 2 LOs.

Envy of those watching daytime telly....sighs as she stares at the computer...ah well. at least it's nearly Friday!

Warlin · 15/03/2012 16:23

Meant kids stuff, not lids stuff!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 15/03/2012 16:41

Afternoon all!

Quick post for you folks with sinus problems. My mum has recurrent sinus infections and sinus problems so I suggested she try a neti pot - she's found it really, really helps so thought you might want to read a bit about them.

Here's a site to get you started:

www.netipots.co.uk/index.php

See you later!

Fanbelt · 15/03/2012 16:56

Kayzr sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Brew Biscuit

Shelduck sounds like you're doing the right thing. I usually find that it's the agonising over a decision that's the hardest part. As soon as you've made up your mind what to do you relax and get on with it - whatever you've decided.

TDW I'm always desperate for DH to just get home from work in the evening so am always in awe of you ladies that put up with being apart from from your DP/Hs for months on end.

Is anyone else starting to get excited about meeting their babies? Now I know I've only got 10 wks (probably less!) to go I can't wait to see what she looks like. I think she's going to look a bit like DS1, going from the scans, but who knows.

Only 2 weeks of work left to go - can't wait to finish as, to be honest, I think I am worse than useless at the moment. So pre-occupied with baby stuff. Unfotunately my company has just made 4 people redundant (I was on the list of 'at risk' but thankfully they didn't select me), 2 of which were people I was handing over to. So I think the next 2 weeks are going to be interesting/busy!

ChateauMargot · 15/03/2012 19:34

Another one here who hasn't been offered the GTT - midwife said urine samples fine, so no reason to. But since I have PCOS, am wondering if, given the relation to dodgy insulin levels, I should be pushing for one? Not that I fancy the fast...

Was offered a seat on the Tube for the first time yesterday. Had to decline, as I was about to get off, anyway... but it felt like a milestone!

TeaandHobnobs · 15/03/2012 21:47

Oooo forgot to say - I passed my test!!!! Woooooooooo!!!!!
Just waiting for my mum to re-loan me her car so I can be freeeeeeeee Grin

DairyNips · 15/03/2012 21:48

Well done tea!!! Grin

10000fireflies · 16/03/2012 07:50

Morning all - just wrote a long post and computer crashed, so will just saying hi. Will pop back later for a longer chat. Have to hope in shower before engineer arrives. Can't believe we're at the week 28ish point already!!

Have a good Friday!! FF xx

thedogwalker · 16/03/2012 09:24

Congratulations Tea on passing your test.
Thank goodness its Friday, I need the weekend, even though I've got quite a busy one planned. Not really doing Mother's day as such, but will be busy swimming with DS1 and baking cakes and hopefully doing a bit of gardening.
Hope everyone has a great day, take care xx

DairyNips · 16/03/2012 09:26

Morning ladies Smile

Thank god it's Friday! My dh is off for a week as of 5pm todaySmile He took it off to coincide with ds2's 2nd birthday.

Kayzr hope you're feeling a little better.

shelduck hope you're managing to relax.

I too can't believe we're this far along, I suddenly feel very unprepared! I also keep getting very excited that it's not long till we meet our little boy nowGrin

I've got a thread about induction if anyone was interested. I went to 42 weeks the last two times and was induced. I really want to decline induction if the same happens again this time so the thread is about that.

Also, considering the name Bertie for ds now. Opinions? Good or badSmile

Warlin · 16/03/2012 09:32

Morning all

Congrats tea fab news Wine

I'm feeling a bit anxious today as have a mild, dull ache in my abdomin, a bit like period pains. They started last night and are pretty constant..don't know how much of it is in my head and whether they are normal. Panicking about pre-term labour. Can't get in today to doctor for check up so just hoping they go away. i don't have any other symptoms but still am a bit worried.

So glad it's Friday too...fan I feel a bit useless in work too...just to pre-occupied to concentrate...or even care. I have 9 weeks left though....torture! On the plus side I'm off all next week yipppeee

Has anyone else had mild cramps?

Fed up now with being pregnant and all this worry. Just want my wee boy to be here and be healthy. Roll on 11 weeks!

Shelduck · 16/03/2012 09:47

Hmm...Ok - not sure how this one is going to go down. But if you're looking for something to do this weekend...

A friend of ours is a semi-professional photographer and is getting quite into portraits. He kept saying he thought it would be good for DH to take some pictures of me to record the bump. (The horror! Shock) But he came round last weekend and brought a decent camera and some lighting kit, showed DH what to do, helped get the lighting sorted, and went off and left us to it for an hour. And you may have worked out by now that I may not have been wearing much. Blush

But it was actually OK - despite veins and rashes and the general unwieldiness of my body, it was OK, and I'm glad I did it. And I should reassure you - I don't look anything whatsoever like this or this - more like this. Grin (Demi Moore manages to discreetly cover her delicate bosom with one hand, but I think I'd need an extra set of arms to get the job done with any real satisfaction!)

So I'd definitely encourage anyone else to do it if you think you'd like to. Now don't all throw things at me...

thedogwalker · 16/03/2012 09:50

Warlin that could be braxton hicks, is your belly quite hard too? Which is all quite normal. However, since I am not a doctor and you seem to be worried, then please ring your midwife team and they will be able to sort out the issue. There is probably nothing to worry about, but best to get it checked and then you can relax and enjoy your day.

Please let us know how you get on Smile

Shelduck · 16/03/2012 09:53

Sorry - posted before I read Warlin's post.

There are so many different sorts of abdominal pains/aches/twinges we seem to get when pg, so it's hard to say for definite about any of them. I haven't had anything I would describe as a period pain, but then I guess period pains can be different anyway! I would say, plan to see your GP or MW when you can (because it will reassure you) but in the meantime, try your best not to worry. (Any abdominal pains I've had get worse when I worry anyway!)

Take care xxx

Warlin · 16/03/2012 11:29

Thanks sheld and TDW, the cramps have died down. Just had a meeting that I had to walk to and I think the walk has helped. If they come back I will ring the MW. LO is kicking away so fingers crossed he isn't planning to leave his home this weekend :)

Sheld I agree on the photo front. DH loves photography and he took some pics of me a few weeks ago...I wanted to do it before the stretch marks arrive!! They came out really well...with the help of dim lighting!! I would love the idea of getting a professional one done but would be too embarrassed to get the kit off in front of anyone else!!! I just wanted something to remind me of how big bump was. I plan to getting DH to take some more in another few weeks....just to clarify though, the pics are just for us and won't be making the wall anytime soon!!! Made DH clean them off his camera afterwards as he uses his camera in work too and didn't want any accidents Shock

Warlin · 16/03/2012 11:30

One of DH's friends does pencil life drawings and had suggested I get one done but would be too Blush
