I'll be stalking the thread looking for recruits for Insomniacs Anonymous!!!
Sounds horrible but glad I'm not alone!
Kveta hope your DS is ok!
Onwards n upwards with the day I suppose -- yawn flipping yawn!

TeaandHobnobs · 20/04/2012 09:02

Morning all! Sorry about all the insomnia Sad
I recommend camomile tea - I have even started making some for other ladies on the ward (especially to cope with some super snorey neighbours over the last couple of nights Hmm)

Quite a quiet night here - tiny bit of bleeding but nothing significant. Another day! Smile

I have my first hypnobirthing class tomorrow - will be nice to escape the ward and do something different for a few hours. Although being stuck here, I am caring less and less about how this baby comes out - I just really want this pregnancy to be over. I wasn't exactly loving being pregnant when things were going well, but now I REALLY don't like it!

Then DH reminds me that we want BabyTea to stay safe inside for as long as possible.... And I feel guilty Sad

Kveta TFI Friday indeed! Hope those of you still working get a chance to relax over the weekend.

Right, time for my morning TV schedule of breakfast news, heir hunters and homes under the hammer while I wait for today's midwife and doctors to do their rounds...

Warlin · 20/04/2012 09:44

Morning all

I'm now joining the insomnia club....DH was at a work do and came home at 1....woke me up and that was it until alarm went off at 6. Then went downstairs to find my dog had had diarrhea all over the carpet...there must have been about 2 litres of it (TMI I know!!!). She must have eaten something as it's so unlike her. So took me ages to clean all that up, then had a lovely walk on the beach (sunny here for a change), then got in late to work and realised have forgotten to look the door of the house...doh! One of those mornings.

I feel like crying I am so tired and really can't cope with a whole day in work...5 days weeks are just killing me.

It's my FIL's 80th this weekend so we have lots of family stuff on...at this moment in time can think of nothing worse!

Tea I don't blame you....you must be 10 times more frustrated than anyone else...any bleeding last night?

I watched our hospital DVD last night that we were given to watch before the anti natal classes. It gives you a tour of all the different units, eg home from home, birthing pools and labour wards and talked through the pain relief options available in each. Made it all very real! I have to say though that I will be miffed if I don't get a private room....having never been in hospital I don't think I could cope on a ward, yet they can't guarantee a private room as depends on demand. Another thing to stress about!!!! What if you get a private room and then go to give birth and someone takes it and you end up in the ward.....maybe once I'm there I won't care!

Waves to everyone

McKayz · 20/04/2012 09:49

I am applying for membership to the insomnia club. I have been up most of the night. I wake up for a wee and then can't get comfy, then I have heartburn, then can't get comfy, then I need a wee. ARGHHHHH!!!!

Tea I can't wait until the baby is born so I think its perfectly fine for you to want the pregnancy to be over too.

crackersncheese · 20/04/2012 10:18

Another member of the insomnia club here, baby has decided that 3 in the morning is the perfect time to have a party however quiet he is during the day.

having a sneaky day off today, just don't seem to be functioning at all this week. 4 weeks left at work and counting.

Waves to everyone especially tea and special and all those having a rubbish time of it , just read through 5 pages of posts and completely forgotten who else said what. Must keep better caught up :)

Kveta · 20/04/2012 10:24

does application to the insomnia club involve walking into a room to get something, forgetting what you went in there for, turning round and putting a shoe in the fridge, almost bashing your head off the bathroom mirror whilst brushing your teeth as you struggle to stay awake, and being deeply, irrationally, pissed off at your DH for sneezing? Because apart from the shoe (managed to stop myself in time) I qualify...

Can I just ask other subsequent mums (i.e.not 1st timers) did you find with previous babies that they got into a wakeful routine in utero? Because with DS he was always madly active. But was particularly bad from 10pm to about 1am, and 3am-5am, and was EXACTLY the same for some weeks after he was born. Just curious, as have heard it's the case for quite a few babies!

SpecialJK · 20/04/2012 11:00

Hi all. Sorry if I've started something with the insomnia! Blush. Ironically since DH told me the other day, I've had 2 reasonable nights sleep (not that I don't wake up, I'm just not awake for hours). I'll wave some of my sleepy dust around.

Have a little bit better news, turns out DH is the 'backup' person, which means he will only have to go out, if, god forbid, something happens to the people who are out there. He's still going to see if he can hand his notice in, as he was planning to leave next year anyway. So I'm feeling calmer

Also feeling much calmer as went to see my private gynaecologist yesterday, the one who did my fibroid operation a few years ago. He was brilliant and I got lots of constructive advice and info. He thought that baby was still breech, and he checked his diary to see when he was working in late june, as he's offered to do my c-s (if I end up needing one) if it fits! That made me and DH feel much better about the whole thing

Miniangel · 20/04/2012 11:20

Hi Everyone
Sorry to hear that quite a few of us are having problems sleeping. Thankfully I can go back to sleep after the frequent loo breaks but it's def difficulty to turn over and I keep disturning my DH.
SpecialJK glad to know that things are looking up for you.
Warlin we are thinking of getting a private room too and it's a shame we can't book them. Fingers crossed we'll get one or worst case scenario if we ended up in the ward- have really great neighbours.

My NCT class yesterday was quite good. There are 4 other couples and they all seemed really friendly. I am looking fwd to the all day session on Sat now. Have got appts today and all next week to view nurseries in our area. Hope we get a good one soon and then I can concentrate on putting the hospital bag together.

McKayz · 20/04/2012 11:26

My doctor is lovely and has given me tablets and extra strength gaviscon!! I'm hoping it'll do something so I can have a bit of a break from heartburn.

I have got pretty strong braxton hicks this morning.

SpecialJK · 20/04/2012 11:57

annoyed again! wish I could tell this NHS consultant to 'eff off' in the nicest way. I've just received a copy of the letter she's sent to my private consultant with it starting

"this lady went....."

sorry, I think that for a professional letter that's incredibly rude

She also continues to spell my surname wrong.....

Warlin · 20/04/2012 12:15

kveta that made me laugh..you can def join the club! I'm with you on the irritability....was so annoyed with DH's breathing last night that I kept elbowing him, telling him to stop!!! How dare he be in a deep sleep when I'm lying there wide awake :)

Great news special on the DH front...

It is my imagination or are we all on MN during the day much more now?? I have so much work to do but not an ounce of energy to do it.

smallwonder · 20/04/2012 15:03

Don't understand why I'm in such pain. Vomiting continually with stabbing horrid pains down below and backache. Baby really hurt just now felt it was tunnelling out. Am waiting mw to call back, wd rather be on safe side. Don't remember this With others. It's been an hour now of this pain -- at any rate, on daycare tomorrow for blood infusions. Sorry not to comment on anyone but my own self, am at such a loss. Desperately need sleep and reassurance Confused

CathFin · 20/04/2012 15:09

Afternoon all! Not much to report here, I almost had a nights sleep last night, neither child woke up but the heartburn got me at 3am!

Tea - hang in there, must be very frustrating but its good the baby is still quite happy. Shame they can't work out what the bleeds are though.

Warlin - don't feel too bad, I have decided I'm not going to Ireland for my FIL's 70th which is next Friday. The trip will wipe me out and considering this is my 3rd pregnancy in 5 yrs I'm putting myself first for a change and not leaving my nest.
So there! Definitely having a 'don't mess with the pregnant lady' moment!

Kveta My two baba's definitely spent the first two nights crying a lot being very wakeful, but it got better quite quickly.

Special - glad your gynae was helpful, your consultant sounds flipping awful!

CathFin · 20/04/2012 15:13

Smallwonder - I'd get back on the phone to the midwives, sounds worrying and its better to get on their case probably than wait.

Hope you feel better soon though.

Warlin · 20/04/2012 15:16

small oh know, not sure what advice to give but sending you hugs and feel better vibes x
Haven't heard of vomitting being a sign of anything to do with pre- term labour but I honestly don't know. And if the pains are down below and not in your uterus it is unlikely to be baby related...I would assume though I really don't know. Better to ask MW and get checked out but it may just be some funny pregnancy side effects so try not to panic. I'm sure LO is fine and relax in the knowledge that worst case if it did put in an appearance it would be fine.

Best thing you can do is relax.....easier said than done i know :(

Let us know what MW says xx

TeaandHobnobs · 20/04/2012 15:33

Oh small that sounds horrible, you poor thing Sad Hope the MW gets back to you ASAP. Any chance it could be a stomach bug or something?

Let us know what happens.

SpecialJK · 20/04/2012 17:19

small has the MW called back yet? sounds like something they definitely should checkout. If LO is still rumbling around should be happy enough, but don't think you should be vomiting. Could it be something like food poisoning?

AmethystMoon · 20/04/2012 17:22

Afternoon all

McKayz very Envy of your purple cot, it sounds fab!

Special I am so pleased to hear your DH is a standby for Afghan rather than a definite. I am an ex-army wife and know all too well how hard it is when they are away, especially when it is Afghan. Everything crossed that he doesn't go. I have just sorted my child minder for the end of the year, she said I was very organised to do it this early but I need full time hours and they aren't easy to find where I live.

Warlin I know what you mean about feeling that time has stopped, two months to go feels like forever! My NCT classes are going ok, I have a full day tomorrow eek! My poor DP is exhausted at the moment with work and he could really do with a day to rest, I feel awful dragging him to NCT classes. Especially as he feels older than the other men there, so he's not really enjoying it that much :( Oh and I hope your poor dog is feeling better now.

Tea I am so sorry to hear you've had another bleed :( Plus all that daytime TV sounds like torture. I am sure your hypno birthing class will be great. Let us know how it goes? I am listening to the CD evevry night now...never heard the end of it as I drift off to sleep!

Dairy Your stomach bug sounds horrid, how are you feeling today?

Novmama Thanks for the swimming cozzie recommendation, I've looked it up, it is lovely :) Must now get off my arse and go and buy it!

Kveta I am also planning to do lots of pre-baby cooking for DP to deforst and re-heat Grin In addition to spag bol I am planning chilli and curry. Also jacket spuds are easy to chuck in the microwave and then finish in the oven to make crispy.

Surfmama How did the hospital go? I hope the leaking has stopped. Your hospital isn't St Richards by any chance is it?

Small and 10000fireflies I've just seen the times of your posts...I was awake then too! I wish I'd thought to go on-line, I could have had company. I seem to fall asleep okay, just randomly waking up is doing my head in! I hope your pain is better now? It sounds like you're really suffering, let us know how you get on.

Mini I've got a Saturday NCt tomorrow, the teacher seems to have planned loads. I hope I can remember it all. Hope your goes well :)

SpecialJK · 20/04/2012 18:01

last post of the day all. hope your NCT goes well tomorrow those who have saturday courses mini and amythyst

We've been invited to a housewarming tomorrow, people we met at our NCT! I think all the couples will be there. We all swapped emails and phone numbers last week and we've got a night out planned early May. It might just take 1 person to take the 1st step and make the suggestion, so don't be shy and suggest it if no one else does.

ChateauMargot · 20/04/2012 19:28

Amethyst, it took me the btter part of a month of listening to my hypnobirthing CD to hear the end of it! Actually jolted out of my semi-snooze when I realised that I'd never found out what happened to the yellow fish before (it's a sea-themed relaxation)...

smallwonder · 20/04/2012 20:17

Hi girls
I am ok :) mw reassured me. Everything calm now, sorry for my wee bit of drama, in the midst of my OMG better get my arse over to the maternity unit I was thinking of all the things not yet done, essentials not little wants! Wake up call! Mw reminded me sickness is the norm for me, that I am on less than half tank of blood, little sleep and 3 little people home felt a bit silly she said head prob engaging and as 4th and previous scar tissue could mean the pains. Brixton h's were quite strong and all brought back contraction panic with Dc1. Eeeeeeeeeeeek.

Hope everyone else is ok. Any news tea?
Thanks ladies. Feel a bit daft worrying folks in RL :)
Got my infusions tomorrow, hope I am not wimpy. Hate cannulas!!

See u at 2,3 or possible 4am !!!

TeaandHobnobs · 20/04/2012 20:57

small I am soooo with you on the cannula hating. Thankfully I have managed to avoid one since Saturday. They are going to need a damn good reason to put one back in!!!
Hope it all goes ok tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Had a rather odd registrar on the rounds this morning who basically said if I hadn't had a small amount of bleeding overnight, she'd have said I could go today, and if it stays clear over the weekend, I could go Monday. That freaked me out a bit - I said much as I would like to go home, it will only happen again and I will have to come back, so there doesn't seem any point. The MW on today agreed with me - she said I would really have a battle against the consultants if I wanted to go. Man they are confusing Hmm. Also the decorators are starting at home on Monday, so if I were discharged, I'd have to go to my parents' which is an hour from here - not great if it started up again...

Today's MW also suggested that this may end up in a c-section - something that had crossed my mind in the last few days, as since they can't establish the cause of the bleeding, there is a risk I think that a vaginal delivery could set off a massive haemorrhage. But I'm hoping to have a proper in-depth chat with a consultant about that soonish. I'm open to anything now really - I figure I have no control over what happens anyway, so I may as well accept that whatever the safest option is, that's the way to go, no matter what it is. Funny that a control freak like me could be so calm about relinquishing control Grin

Two new roommates tonight - they better not be snorers!!! My favourite midwife is on though Grin

Sleep well all (I hope that includes the insomniacs too - sending sleepy vibes zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........)

(flip I don't half go on Confused)

smallwonder · 21/04/2012 01:22

Good to hear your update teanhobs Smile
Also agree u r best where u r right now esp if u'd have to travel that kind of distance -- no, we want u to stay put thanks where we know you r in good hands n can keep an eye on u :)
Hope ur roommates prove of the quiet type!
Am going to try to sleep now and not think of the cannula please God let me sleep {sprinkles sleepy dust over thread}
