Sorry, loads of cross posts there!

Hope everyone off out has a nice time and those having people round too.

And Grin at Too's table problem! Hope you get away with it - you need a nice heavy table dec / centrepiece to stay on the table the whole time to avoid any ad-hoc crumb clearing activity by the MIL Smile

I've forgotten everything again - sitting around all day is tiring Hmm. And DH is working all weekend again so I have to entertain DS again all weekend and I have zero ideas as to what to do. Confused

Still, curry for tea I think - too tired to cook and I meant to start it this afternoon but was otherwise engaged.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/01/2012 19:29

Loving Biscuits' solution to Too's table dilemma Grin

Biscuits sorry about the kidney issue on the scan, but as you say hopefully it's nothing major and if there is any real problem after the LO is born it sounds like they can fix it quite simply. I also have no idea what "well stocked" amnio fluid could mean, but I agree that more is usually better than less Grin

Let us know how you get on with the GTT, and what it's like. I've got one of those booked for the 2nd Feb, mainly because my brother is a type 1 diabetic so I think that puts me in a higher risk category. Seriously hoping we both pass the test, I don't know much about GD but I'm pretty sure I'd better finish up all my Christmas chocolate before I go! Wink I'd be gutted to have to give up (or even just restrict) my one remaining vice!!

At my mw appt on Tues I was found to be measuring 27 weeks when I'm only 25 weeks, but the mw didn't suggest that there was anything wrong with that. She says these are all just averages anyway and it could be something as simple as the baby lying in a different position and affecting the measurement. Glad they're taking good care of you though, and referring you for scans so that you can be fully informed!

My friends just got into the local station and will be here soon - yay!!!

pommedenoel · 20/01/2012 19:30

Biscuits, that's a lot of change to take in. Are you feeling okay? Sounds like nothing to really worry about but new info/discoveries can feel worrying even when it isn't I find. I would definitely say nursery for your ds for the next lot of apps. I don't know anything about gd but I'm sure someone here will.

musicalmrs · 20/01/2012 20:07

Hi all!

I've had such a busy week that I think I've loitered lots and posted very little if at all- sorry! Will try and catch up a bit now..

Biscuits, glad they took you in and checked up on things. Sorry to hear about the kidney issue, but it sounds like one of those things that it's great to know about (as it could so easily be missed!), and is so easy to sort if they know what's up? I second the thought that lots of fluid is better than too little..!

Scream, congrats on having nearly finished work. I'm so sorry it's got so bad you've had to be signed off, but at least you can now concentrate completely on you and the LO :) What did the GP say about crutches? (I may have missed that, sorry). I hope some of the myriad of things your physio has to suggest will help you feel much better. Nandos and banter sounds fabulous!

Too, good luck with the PILs! Love the table situation - think Biscuits's suggestion is the best so far! And is definitely one I'll remember for the future...

Wants, glad it's whizzing by for you! Time seems to be moving reaaallly slowly for me- even though I'm busy!

So glad it's the weekend. Busy ish though, with lots of bell ringing tomorrow and seeing the in laws on Sunday. Also hoping to get a few baby clothes as I hit 24 weeks on Sunday - hurrah! 10 proper weeks left at work and counting!

Biscuitsandtea · 20/01/2012 20:14

Yes I feel your chocolate pain Scream - I'm a bit scared about having give it up or even cut down - I do love chocolate and have a massive Christmas haul Confused. I wonder if I should be revising for the test Hmm.

I actually feel quite calm about it all thanks Pomme. The whole measuring ahead thing and GTT isn't a total surprise as I'd sort of had a heads up from the mw last time. And I guess because I know DS was big it isn't a humongous surprise that this one would be too. It does make me wonder if I had GD with DS? But nothing ever showed up in my urine (which I think it can can't it?) and they must have measured my bump with him too and not found it sufficiently far ahead to refer me for anything special. Nothing in my urine this time either so far. I know it still might be GD but it seems to be manageable. To be honest I know so little about it maybe that's why I'm not worried - I don't really know what the potential complications / implications are as yet.

The kidney thing is a bit left field but I guess it all seems manageable - they didn't seems massively phased by it and we're very keen that I didn't stress out Confused.

Scream I think on the measuring ahead thing they allow a couple of cm either way?

Wants3 · 20/01/2012 20:56

I think I have decided that my last day at work will be 27 th April, I will be 37 weeks. The final 2 weeks will just be hand over. I get my Matb1 on the 3 rd of Feb and then I can make it official.
Just had a cup of peppermint tea, not for me yuk! I have tried to be gluten free for the last couple of days but I am a bit worried that my diet is now too restricted to be healthy for me or baby. Also a
small loaf of bread cost me £2.90!
DH might have been persuaded to go and look at prams and car seats tomorrow:)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/01/2012 22:57

Biscuits, I hope the kidney thing turns out to be nothing too worrying. Bean has one kidney which is unlikely to function at all and the consultant is completely blase about it. She did say that it might need to be removed at some point if it doesn't work, but this won't need to be done immediately. They told me that they would worry if the amniotic fluid was low because it would mean poor kidney function overall, so perhaps they were trying to reassure you by saying yours was 'well stocked'. It is amazing what they can see - they picked up Bean's problem at the 20 week scan and said they could see cysts in the kidney.

Don't sugars show up in the urine if you have GD? Grin at revising for the GTT!

So far the table has remained safely covered. Just have to make it through dinner tomorrow without DH someone spilling on the tablecloth. Have put vase of flowers on it as per Biscuits' suggestion - good thinking!

Night night all.

NinjaChipmunk · 21/01/2012 08:21

morning! Well we were woken at 7am by ds in a complete state covered in blood with a massive nosebleed. His bedroom looked like someone had been murdered, it was up the walls and all over his bed poor love. Sorted him out, went into the lounge and lo and behold the neighbours upstairs who had a party last night have thrown up over their balcony into our back garden right outside our patio doors. What a way to start the day. I shall send dp round in a bit to look threateningly at them till they come round and clear it up. Our last set of neighbours did the same but the difference there was they were very nice and always said hi and spoke to ds when he was out in the garden. This lot just ignore everyone so I have decided I don't like them. Bastards. And dp and ds both have stinking colds. Boo.
Hope everyone else had a better start to the day. Biscuits glad you got scanned and had a previous heads up on the situation, they sound on the ball. I hope the kidney thing sorts itself out x

Biscuitsandtea · 21/01/2012 08:29

Cor blimey Ninja - hope your day gets better! And that your horrible neighbours come round and do the decent thing without any fuss.

NinjaChipmunk · 21/01/2012 09:03

so do I biscuits, I can't wait till we get a house! Our flat itself is lovely if a bit small but has its own garden and garage but I hate having people on top of us. Especially ones that have parties. And feel the need to vomit somewhere other than the toilet!

Biscuitsandtea · 21/01/2012 09:14

Are you looking to move soon Ninja?

NinjaChipmunk · 21/01/2012 09:21

well we fiind out what school ds goes to in april but yes in the meantime we are finishing all diy with a view to put it on the market around april time I think. Mind you thats if we can sell at a reasonable price!

scarletfingernail · 21/01/2012 10:55

Biscuits Guess what? I'm at the hospital Wednesday morning for a GTT too so I'll see you there! History of Diabetes in the family. I'm not too worried about it which is why I've not mentioned it yet. I was fine with DS last time so hoping for the same again. Bleugh at the thought of the minging drink though. What time are you booked in for?

I'm so glad you went and got yourself checked out yesterday. It sounds as though it's nothing too bad. Did they say that the amount of fluid could be the reason for you not feeling much movement?

Ninja what a horrible start to the weekend. Angry about your neighbours on your behalf, I'd be fuming. Does your DS have nosebleeds a lot or was it a one off? Poor thing.

I hope you had a lovely evening with your friends Scream. I did with mine, was just what I needed.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

OP posts:
ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 21/01/2012 11:33

Also Angry at Ninja's bloody inconsiderate neighbours! How annoying! I hope your DP gets them back into line and clearing up the mess sharpish! Fingers crossed for a swift (and profitable!) move in April!

Biscuits and Scarlet it's so nice that you know each other in RL and can meet up at things like this! At my hospital you don't really have an appointment for the GTT as such, I think. There's just a clinic and everyone gets jabbed once, given a drink, and then jabbed again two hours later. So at least you should have each other to keep you occupied during the long dull 2 hour wait. I haven't decided whether to ask DH to come along to mine yet. On the one hand there's no need for us both to lose an entire morning. On the other hand I'd like him there if I end up failing the test. (I assume the results are instant?)

Glad you had fun with your friends last night Scarlet! I also had a great time. My friends didn't leave until 1 a.m., which was fun but also tiring, it's been a long time since I've been still with friends and trying to come up with witty banter at 1 a.m.!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend? I need to get my head down and finish my work today rather than letting it drag over the whole weekend. Must-ban-self-from-MN-until-finished!

scarletfingernail · 21/01/2012 12:43

scream it's the same at our hospital, I think they just tell everyone to turn up at 10 minute intervals between 8.00 and 9.30 and then we're all waiting around for the 2 hours, so I should see Biscuits at some point. I've been told to get there for 8.40.

As for getting the results, I've been told I won't get them there and then and that I'll be going straight home after the 2nd jab, so I'll be going on my own. I'll hear within a week of the test if there's a problem. It might be worth a phone call Scream and see if it's the same at your hospital so you don't have to take DH along unecessarily.

Glad you had a good night too. Understandably you're tired, I'd been tucked up in bed for 2 hours by the time your friends left.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 21/01/2012 13:23

That's so funny Scarlet!!!! They've told me to be there for 9:30 so we should definitely overlap!

I think I might try and get there a little earlier in case they can get me in any earlier as they've made my scan appt for 11:30 so it could be a bit tight if they start the GTT late. Still they made the appts so they'll just have to work it out if they run over.

DreamingOfPeace · 21/01/2012 14:16

hi all,

I'm so tired I've been throwing up all morning- boo to morning sickness induced by tiredness!!! Due to a work meal with DH so got home after midnight, and the food was served so late I ended up most of the night with reflux/heartburn!! Was lovely grub at the time though

DD not so well again- still just post MMR I think- still running a temp off and on and hot today, and grotty chest. Even DH a little concerned about her chest, ?bronchiolitis again, so may hit the GPs soon.

biscuits, I think you already know you don't have titchy little babies (a good thing in many ways!), so I hope your GTT is normal and everything goes smoothly on your scan. Was your DS 8lb 3 ish at 36+6? Great weight for an early baby, well done you if I've remembered right! They'll fit it in if its other appointments that hold you up- always seems to be a bit of shuffling round when I'm waiting to see the consultant over who's had the scan, who can't see consultant yet as still waiting for scan etc so sure you won't miss it whatever with the GTT.

Desperate for a nap so best be off, will try and catch up properly later

Wants3 · 21/01/2012 16:01

I am having a glucose load test at 28 weeks. Is this the same as for GD. I have to drink lucazade at home in morning after no food from 9pm and then get blood tested exactly 2hours later at drop in clinic. Only one jab for me!
Went out to look at prams this morning, not very successful, one shop had closed down, couldn't find another and babies r us didn't have chassis or carrycot we want.:( are there any big places around that would have a wide range of the same model? I don't mind travelling a bit.

scarletfingernail · 21/01/2012 16:18

It sounds slightly different Wants from the glucose tolerence test at my hospital. I'm not sure whether they're the same thing or not.

We're not allowed anything to eat or drink from 10pm the night before, only sips of water if necessary. We then go and have the first jab, and straight after will be given a drink, not as nice as Lucozade but something very sugary. We then have to wait for 2 hours and will then have the 2nd jab.

What pram is it you're after?

OP posts:
Wants3 · 21/01/2012 17:30

We are looking at the britax B- smart 3. We want the black chassis and the carrycot attachment. Not decided on colour, black, blue or red yet so would like to see them in the flesh IYSWIM! Nowhere round here seems to stock them.
I seems to have wasted another afternoon on MN and googling pram stockists!

Biscuitsandtea · 21/01/2012 18:55

Dream you should win a prize for remembering detail like that! You're bang on 8lb 3 @ 36+6! Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 21/01/2012 19:23

I just remember your ds biscuits because you said he was one day prem, hence I knew 36 +6 and 8lb 3 just stuck in my memory as I thought neither of us had a whopper to show for our third degree tears! I only remember him and pomme I think with dd 7lb 1 ish... What prize do I get?! Grin let's have a go at time for good measure- 15:45??!!

My poor dd is defintely properly ill again now... Again!!!! Temp of 40. 39 after nurofen and calpol. Grotty chest. Is this still her MMR (she's not been well since) or something else?! Poor little thing. I can't wait for Spring and the Season of Bugs to pass... Didn't get my nap as she woke up, so totally flagging, but dh was muttering about out of hours gp if we can't get her temp down and so someone not her dad can listen to her chest. So tired, so for both of us I hope she picks up!

Off to look at the pram wants is after....

Biscuitsandtea · 21/01/2012 19:26

Not far out Dream - 2:37pm!

I can't believe your poor dd is poorly again. I just want to magic her better. Hope the out of hours GP can come up with something for her. Do you think you'll see them tonight? Hope you all get some rest xxx

DreamingOfPeace · 21/01/2012 19:32

I'm really hoping she'll go to sleep and stay asleep and we can see how her breathing/rattling is in the morning. She's so clapped out she's in her cot, LYING DOWN and looking like she might go to sleep already. Shock Shock . How I kno sh'es definitely ill- no protesting. I want to magic her better too Sad

Wants3 · 21/01/2012 20:30

Lurking to see if anyone has found a stockists for my pram! :)
