Well ladies, this will hopefully be our last new thread pre-baby ... here's hoping it will kickstart some baby action!

I've spent the day driving in my car on bumpy lanes and playing wii tennis and wii boxing maybe it'll help?? (lots of wishful thinking going on).

mopsytop · 15/12/2011 20:55

Any action figgy? I cleaned the bathroom and bounced on my birthing ball for ages. Nothing.

Hello all- I'll post this on t'other thread too, but am pleased to report that little Ben landed at 4.45pm on Monday, weighing 7lbs 8oz and 22 inches long.

ELCS went perfectly, just the chilled birth I was hoping for (I know that will sound odd to most people, but for me it was great!) Hospital stay was fine- was discharged after 48 hours (Wednesday afternoon), but was up, showered, 'de-lined' etc by 7.30 am Tuesday. Had nothing stronger than paracetemol and ibuprofen since then too. Couldn't get over how relatively quiet it was too, despite them bursting at the seams- didn't bother with the single room in the end.

The only naff bits were the fact that I was nil by mouth from Sunday night, but timings and two EMCSs on the Monday afternoon meant that it was 16 hours without a drink. Not pleasant, and they had to put in a canula for a drip- tbh, the most painful bit of the whole experience. The itching post morphine and the (tmi, sorry) transferred pain of the trapped wind to my shoulder were also unpleasant, but mainly gone by Wednesday am.

So been home for two days, and it's been...rather wonderful actually. Ben latched on in recovery; the nurses did it there but I managed on the third go and he's been feeding ever since. Rather sore nipples (thank God for Lansinoh), and having to top up once or twice a day because he's a total gannet, but other than that he's being bf on demand from about 4am to 11pm- my lovely partner takes the night shift so I can get 4-5 hours proper sleep. We're getting a few naps in too, so feeling fine.
Am loving the 'living in pyjamas and eating chocolate biscuits non-stop' bit of this newborn stage, think they should highlight this more when encouraging women to bf Xmas Grin!

He's not one for being put down though- today's the first day he's gone in his moses basket. Even at the hospital he wouldn't go in his tank, so he was either being bf or I'd have him sleeping on me. He's continued this at home, and far prefers passing out on either me or OH. Not what I was planning but if it's the only place he'll sleep then so be it- he's only four days old! This is why I've only just got round to posting!

So it's all really, really lovely here- just holed up, the three of us, with nothing to worry about apart from the little man. My OH has completely and utterly fallen in love, it's been wonderful to watch. Please God may this continue, with the child getting used to his basket so I can get on MN once in a while!!

Will now read through and find out what's been doing- hope you get some action soon figgy and mopsy!

Yay! Congrats Chinchilla - that's wonderful! Lovely news. Nothing here, I'm afraid. Sigh.

hi everyone, sorry posted to other thread in hospital as I was on the iPhone and it is just laborious to type etc.

Minimopsy arrived Monday afternoon after 13 hours of very very painful back-to-back labour ending in an emergency forceps delivery in theatre, which was very stressful and traumatic and I couldn't hold her or even really see her properly for hours and hours as was totally out of it on the various drugs. It wasn't a very good day. But I made up for it yesterday! Lots of skin-to-skin and she is so gorgeous! I am fine now again and so is she. Sore stitches etc. but generally all is well. We are beginning to get the hang of feeding too. It's hard work! But we are slowly getting there.

She is just so cute and snuggly! Gorgeous. Got home a couple of hours ago, had to spend the 2 nights in the hospital after that labour. But home finally, and all is well.

Hope you are all well!

I'm not surprised you're done in mopsy, a back-to-back labour must've been tough, and finishing with emergency forceps too.

Glad you're home and enjoying minimopsy- I've been at home with my DS for a week now and I don't know where it's gone.

Good luck with settling in with BF- I feel I'm over the initial hump, as nipples have healed (cracks! blisters!), but it was hard at points. I'm sure you'll get there and we're all learning, having little struggles and persevering together!

mopsytop · 22/12/2011 21:13

Hope things are progressing okay figgy. have been having random baby blue moments all day, bawling at everything and anything, then fine a few mins later. Bf is still hard but I think making slow progress, is so hard to tell :(

I guess we have all now moved to the other thread. I suppose we should soon start thinking about a post-natal thread!
