Well ladies, this will hopefully be our last new thread pre-baby ... here's hoping it will kickstart some baby action!

I was due yesterday earliest chance of a sweep Friday 16th and parents arriving on 15th until 23rd so REALLY hoping this goes somewhere even if still got a cold and tired from not sleeping

mopsytop · 11/12/2011 09:50

Christmas Day! Hardly likely I will make it that far though, think will most likely be induced this week. Back in for monitoring tomorrow morning ...

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 11/12/2011 14:18

Anything happened yet for you figgy- seems a shame to make you wait a til a week overdue before you get your first sweep. Can any arm twisting be entered into?

I hadn't realised that you were Xmas day mopsy, blimey. They seem to be adding to any stress by calling you in time and again for monitoring- if I were in your position I'd get them to induce and just be done with it (but then I'm an impatient bugger who can't stand to be left dangling... Xmas Wink )

Just trying to get Skype link set up with my Dad, he's online but not answering...

festivefiggy · 11/12/2011 14:49

Nope no sign of anything here apart from slight back pain but been getting that for last few days when sit down too much. Am convinced the baby is a giant he's just everywhere!! I'm going to call midwives tomorrow see if I can get a sweep earlier or at least a guarantee they'll do it on Friday.

I need to sort out skype so can go online with my mum once he is out as she convinced she is going to miss out being 500 miles away.

mopsytop · 11/12/2011 15:17

Was totally against being induced but to be honest, if they suggest it tomorrow, will just agree now!

OP posts:
TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 11/12/2011 17:15

I'd be the same mopsy, just get it over with and get your hands on your baby! Being induced does not sound great fun, and obviously not part of anyone's birth plan, but it does sound like the best option when you're back and forth and being ferreted at all the time.

figgy, Skype is definitely the way to go. I'm in the same boat- I only have about three relatives, the closest being about 60 miles and the rest for me and OH are about 350 miles away and not very mobile. Skype has been a life saver over the past year, can't imagine what I'd do without it now.

Right, off to have a sort out of hospital bag, bit last moment but needs doing!

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 13:55

No need for induction this week after all - the medication brought my bp down enough to not have to be induced this week (although will still probably have to be next week) but yay - maybe she will come on her own before then! Very relieved.

OP posts:
AReindeerCalledHorse · 12/12/2011 14:54

Yay for not needing an induction mopsy, hope it all kicks off naturally.

Said it on the other thread, but good luck for today Chinchilla!

Cannot wait to get LO out, thought I was tired in the first trimester..but this is crazy! Was/Is anyone else feeling really drained?

Hohohomouse · 12/12/2011 15:37

Hello all,

Getting induced Weds morning at 8am. Send me your most natural labour vides before then please ladies - 40+10 now - one way or another the babe is coming out this week. It's already grounded for 2 weeks around its 18th birthday for being such a stubborn arse.
Come ON mini mouse!
Mopsy really good news about your BP being normal, must be a relief.

Off to write my induction plan which will basically be GIVE ME AN EPI when I want thank you please.
Been waiting for reflexologist to turn up for last 35 mins, guess she is not coming now. Now I have an induction date I'm more sanguine about the whole affair. What will be will be, as long as there's a healthy baby at the end if it I will be ok.

festivefiggy · 12/12/2011 16:29

hoho great news on your being booked in for induction am only 3 days over at the moment but if I could have 1 now I would am sooo frustrated and If I get 1 more call or text asking for an update I will scream!

Good news on the BP Mopsy glad to hear it's back under control and won't force them to progress this week.

Well I called midwife team at 10 this morning to discuss sweeps and induction and how complicated Xmas is going to make things, trying to plan ahead and still waiting for call back just as well it's raining and have spent day wrapping presents or I'll have been round there to grab someone in person.

Life is well and truly on hold and parents arrive to meet him on 15th at this rate they'll be lucky Sad

AReindeerCalledHorse · 12/12/2011 17:19

Natural labour vibes heading your way mouse!! Did the reflexologist turn up?

figgy, have some vibes too!! Hope MW's call you back soon.

Hospital told me if I have reduced movements again I should let them know asap and come in for an induction...giving LO another hour (and another caffine filled drink) and then I'm going to phone them (hoping posting about it will kick start LO into action).

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 17:33

oh natural labour vibes for you mouse! I feel so lucky at having escaped induction for one more week, so am passing some of my lucky vibes onto you now ...

but my sister reassured me that it's actually fine - she was induced twice and said don't worry, it's really not that bad!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 12/12/2011 17:34

Hope baby moves reindeer!!

OP posts:
festivefiggy · 12/12/2011 17:39

Funny I've just realised bump been very quiet today too just hitting the pepsi to see if can make him move if not calling hospital as he never is this quiet.

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 17:49

My baby went MENTAL all Friday night when I was in hospital and then yesterday barely moved but today was mad again, kicking like mad all day. Is weird the way they fluctuate. But I would defs ring if movements have slowed, it's always better to be cautious! The one good thing about in and out of hospital all the time is I get to hear my baby on the monitor every couple of days, which is a nice reassurance.

OP posts:
Hohohomouse · 12/12/2011 17:58

ARCH - no reflexology here. I called too but she hasn't got back to me. Most odd. Get that baby moving!
Been hearing many induction stories - some are horror shows but there are a fair few that, like your sister, have just been along the "its really not that bad" lines.
Most show frustration and disappointment with the slow pace, bad food, crowded, hot and noisy wards stories that happen with any hospital experience. The others with hellishly painful, medicalised, "cascade of intervention" can go hang cos I la lala la can't hear them. I know its not going to be a walk in the park but can't believe its consistantly THAT hideous. Anyway, theres still time...

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 18:06

hoho, the thing we can't know of course is whether or not the intervention would have happened if we hadn't been induced. I mean, some people have 'natural' births that are totally hideous, others are fine. Some people have induced births that are hideous, others are fine. My sister said for her the induced birth was not very different to the not-induced birth. It is a bit nerve-wracking though. I was in hospital Fri and Saturday and it IS hot and the food is shite, so I would bring a big bag of things you might want to eat, and nice drinks if you don't want only not very nice water (bit chlorinated in my hospital) and LIP BALM! My lips are SO dry now. And ear plugs. DEFINITELY get ear plugs.

My take on it is that birth is not going to be a walk in the park whatever way I go about it. But once I get my baby it will be okay. It's not forever and there is a reason for all the horrible pain, it has to happen. And I just will have to get through it. The difference with induction is that there is no build up so you sort of get thrown in at the deep end, so I am told, but my sister said it's not worse necessarily it's just more of a shock. So try not to panic! I was feeling nervous but had got a bit more reconciled to it. And although I was relieved to have the week's respite, it is very very likely I'll be induced next week anyway (in which case, might as well just have gone now) - just fingers crossed something happens naturally before then and will keep them crossed for you too!

OP posts:
Hohohomouse · 12/12/2011 18:52

Thanks Mopsy, sensible and reassuring words. Sending you natural labour vibes with interest so you don't have the induction next week.
God, I love MN
Weirdly just felt something "pop" in my nether regions - was expecting waters or plug (joy of joys) but its neither, wonder what it could be...anyone have any ideas?

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 19:34

Maybe it was your waters and you'll start getting a trickle? Not everyone gets a gush! Oooh exciting ...

OP posts:
festivefiggy · 12/12/2011 19:36

False alarm baby figgy bouncing around post dinner.

AReindeerCalledHorse · 12/12/2011 19:43

Yay Figgy and baby Figgy for moving. Mini horse is moving again finally, only took a large coffee....

mouse, no ideas! fingers crossed it was waters!

Hohohomouse · 12/12/2011 19:58

Not even a trickle of waters :(
Gawd knows what it was...lots of discharge at the mo and for about a week now (Sorry TMI!) but only white normal stuff (not snottty show - barf!) which is supposed to be more plentiful at this stage anyway.
Sort of grossing me out though.

mopsytop · 12/12/2011 20:43

Me too hoho. Getting well sick of the indignities of pregnancy!

OP posts:
festivefiggy · 13/12/2011 08:50

Me too having to wear liners as was getting well chaffed "down there" again sorry for TMI!!

Just got up to watch the hail stones battering the conservatory roof god they were loud!!! Lovely red sky here and I fancy a baby today quite like 13/12/11 for a bday but no signs of that I'm afraid Sad.

mopsytop · 13/12/2011 09:09

Sending you some labour vibes figgy. My body woke me up a cpl of times last night with contractions but then stopped again. This has been going on for over a week. Is very frustrating!
