Haven't been on here for agggges!!

Congratulations on baby Toby Empusa and yes, definitely do come and join us on FB :)

PearlyFish I have no idea what happened to the people in the "to be confirmed" section as they never came back!! I remember putting them in there a loong time ago! Don't think any offence would be taken if you deleted them now :)

(aka MrsWajs :))

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 16/04/2012 08:33

Awwww Pearly, lovely scan pic! It's nice when you see them moving around and waving their little hands isn't it! Very considerate of it to strike some good poses for you Grin. And at the 20-week scan you'll see even MORE - we saw ours give the most adorable yawn and stretch like it was just waking up from a nap, very cute indeed!

I'll be very impressed with you both Beeble & Pearly if you're feeling kicks already. Apparently first timers start to feel movement at about 18 weeks, later if the placenta is to the front, which is when I started to feel the tiniest flick-like feelings. DH couldn't feel anything until about 23 weeks, and then it was only very subtle - he had to really concentrate!

I have no idea what gender my baby is (DH put his foot down and stopped me from finding out!) but the mass consensus is that it's a girl. The ring on the string said girl too (highly scientific test carried out by a friend who is actually a midwife! Grin). Just you wait & see, it'll be a boy and everyone will be going 'I was so SURE you had a girl in there!'

Only 3 weeks left at work! Madness! The baby is apparently the size of a honeydew melon now, which would explain a lot! Swigging Gaviscon directly from the bottle now. Classy.

MCT76 · 16/04/2012 09:17

Hi all! Noithing much to report here apart from looking at the calendar and counting down the days hoping I will get more symptoms and a protruding bump anytime soon. Does anyone else feel constantly thirsty? I am probably drinking 3-4 litres of water plus a day and my throat remains constantly dry which wakes me up at night as well. Is this normal?

Pearly: Congrats on your scan! He/she looks so cute!

Btw, my EDD is 29th November so far. I saw my MIL yesterday for the first time since we've found out and it was tough trying to keep the secret. She is a big wine drinker and whenever we're out with her, it's wine all the way which I knew might prove quite tricky so my lovely DH said to her beforehand that he wasn't drinking as he is studying for his final accountancy exams (which is true but usually he would have had a beer or a small glass of wine) and I said I wasn't drinking either hoping that would be the end of it but she asked me why and all I could think of was: "because it doesn't agree with me these days" which is a load of rubbish so I wonder if she had any suspicions...I have told my best friend simply because we have shared absolutely everything including her four mcs (she is still trying to have a baby and I knew it would be difficult but she was genuinely happy for me although I tried not to talk about it too much as I know how painful it is).

Hope you're all keeping well!

Flickstar · 16/04/2012 14:06

Hello lovely ladies,

Not been on for a while as been on my easter holidays from school which have strangely had me busier than when at work [hmmm]!

So, so, so pleased to see two good scans and gorgeous pictures from beeble and pearly I bet time seems to have speeded up no end for you both now! Have you enjoyed sharing the news or are you keeping it under wraps for a little while longer yet? I first felt definte movement at 19+6 and that is with an anterior placenta. My DH could feel it from then too but obviously very faintly to start with and like late said he had to really concentrate!

HUge congratulations to dessie and MCT!Grin MCT I remember a thirsty phase and also remember counting down the days- so horrid when every day feels like a year. You will get there though- the girls on here said to count the small mile stones and that really helped me- getting to 6 weeks was my first big one I think.

late lovely bump! I also didn't comment on your maternity package- amazing that you have 6 months full pay! WOW! I am having a full year off but my package is not as good as yours- I have 6 WEEKS of full pay and then ten half pay followed by SMP. I shouldn't sniff at it as it is an 'enhanced' package but I still think it is pretty carp Grin Hope the next three weeks go quickly and that you can get some relief from the heartburn- the old wives tales say that means a hairy baby so maybe you are in for a hairy girl?! BTW, I was certain I was having a girl and I'm not!

Lovely to see you zippys and a huge congratulations on your marriage! Everything crossed for the IVF and the journey ahead xx

Sorry, I've probably missed loads but my poor brain is a little fuzzy with being back at work! We had a busy first week of the holiday with decorating the baby's room and moving bedroomns ourself followed by my best friend's wedding and then we had a lovely week in Portugal to relax on our final pre baby holiday Shock All is well here, am 28 weeks on Thursday and still feeling really good although am starting to have really achy ribs. I have a scan on Thursday to see how big this little beast is now!

Beeblebear · 16/04/2012 14:11

Late. I'm definately questioning if it was kicks or just a strange muscle spasm from laying on my stomach, as it's only happened about twice in two weeks. Perhaps wishful thinking.

My placenta is at the back though, so sm hoping i'll definately feel something soon.

This is technically my second prenancy, as my fitst when I was much younger, sadly ended in abortion, around now which I still really struggle with.hoping that mothers day next year will be the first happy one in 13 years

Beeblebear · 16/04/2012 17:47

I hope that doesn't disqualify me from this thread.

highheelsandequations · 16/04/2012 20:45

Just popping in to say congrats for the new BFPs and yay for the scans :)

zippys lovely to see you, congrats on the marriage, so glad the two of you tied the knot :) and best of luck with the IVF.

Flickstar · 17/04/2012 08:24

Oh course not beeble

Waves to HH xx

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 18/04/2012 08:50

ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH! Angry

Just did a really long post and MumsNet ate it! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Feeling pregnancy rage! Angry
Will re-post when I can summon up the will!

Beeblebear · 18/04/2012 13:44

Late. I heard a tipon anotner thread. If mn logs you out mid post. Just log in, then hit the back button until you find what you were typing and z then hit submit again.

Don't know if this will help you or not.

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 18/04/2012 21:25

Right here I go again - and let's hope I don't need Beeble's tip!

Beeble, of course you're not disqualified from the thread. This is technically my second pregnancy, and I'm sure you'll find the same is true for past, present & future Frolickers for one reason or another.

Flick, I know my maternity package is fab, it's small compensation for selling my soul to a City corporate! (It's the only thing they've got to bribe women to go back! Grin)
Hooray for hitting the 28 week marker - AND a scan to boot! Is that a growth scan you're having?

MCT, I was really thirsty in my first trimester, not so much in the second, but now thirstier than ever in the third! I don't drink tea or coffee anyway so it's just been water water & yet more water! And in the evenings I have to make that trade off, drinking because I'm thirsty = trips to the loo throughout the night! If your body is telling you to drink, best to listen to it - and at least you'll be less likely to get a UTI with all that liquid sloshing through you! Wink

A bit of drama brewing on the horizon... I saw my midwife on Monday & it seems my baby is in the breech position - as it was when I saw her the time before. She said that, while it's not impossible that the baby will turn, she doesn't think it's very likely now (I'm 33 weeks). So I'm going for a scan when I'm 36 weeks to establish the position, and if it's still breech I'll see my obstetrician to 'review options' - although it seems there's only actually one option on the table in that scenario, and that's a planned c-section at 37 weeks (and THAT'S only about 5 weeks away Shock!). While it's not what I was expecting to hear, or what I would choose to happen, it's better if it's identified early, and ultimately I just want to hold my little baby healthy, safe and sound - how it gets out has suddenly become rather secondary. Flick, I haven't felt ANY kicks on my ribs at all, my baby hoofs me in my groin! Not sure which one is worse Grin!

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 18/04/2012 21:28

MN timed out on me again - but I beat it by copying the text before I tried to post it, then just pasting the whole lot in again, ha ha! (I obviously type too slowly, or need to stop rambling...[wink)

Tried your tip as well Beeble but it didn't work...

PearlyFish · 19/04/2012 19:34

Aargh! Just wrote a massive post name checking everyone and got logged out! Tried the tips above but no joy - gonna copy before I try to post this time!!

Anyway, I need to go and sort dinner before I faint so I can't write it all out again. In short, there was thanks to everyone for the scan love, a nice message to Beeble, wonderings about how Flick's scan went and also if Late has any faith in those exercises that are supposed to encourage the bambino into the right position? (Do those work for breech?). MCT yes I had a thirsty phase too (and carried a water bottle around for a while when nauseous), you sound normal to me! Hope you are ok Dessie - oh and NBG thanks for the info!

Flickstar · 20/04/2012 09:27

Oh no- MN doesn't seem to like our thread does it with all the eaten posts?!

Yesterday I had not one appointment today but three! They are like buses- none for ages and then 3 in one day.

I had my 28 week appointment first of all and Bump was measuring bang on 28cms which was good.

I then had my blood pressure consultant who was happy with my blood pressure, protein levels etc although was concerned about my recurrent urine infections and said if this last lot of antibiotics don?t clear the infection or if I then catch another I will be referred to a urologist.

Lastly, I had my growth scan! If you remember I was told at 22 weeks I was having a giant baby- 1lbs 4oz already and on the 95th percentile. My water levels were also ?the high side of normal? so they wanted to check these too. The baby is still on the large side! Weighing 3lb2oz now but has dropped slightly to the 86th percentile. My water levels had now fallen and are well within the normal range which is a good thing. Interestingly, the sonographer asked if I had been eating a lot of sweet things (I have!) and said that mother?s diet has been proven to influence a baby?s weight by 300-500grams. Not sure if that is correct but will try and do my best to cut down on the sweet treats anyway as I have been indulging massively!

late my baby was also breech so will have to se ehow that pans out. I think it is a bit early for your midwife to say it is unlikely to turn now. My good firend's baby turned at 35 weeks and she had a lovely birth so hang in there and get sitting on your birthing ball! My kicks are all down low too so I thought the baby was breech and my rib pain is from having a massive head wedged in them!

Sorry for selfish post- just wanted to post while I remembered to.

Hope everyone is well and has some nice plans for the weekend

Beeblebear · 20/04/2012 18:55

popping on real quick - uploaded a belly pic to profile!

Flickstar · 24/04/2012 09:42

Very quiet on here! Where are you all hiding?!

Lovely bump pic beeble and your top looks lovely and stretchy and comfy too! Just what you need. Your bump looks big already! My bump didn't start to show until about 16 weeks and then really got a spurt on at around 20 weeks. I think there are 20 and 24 week ones on my profile and will put my 28 week ones on when I get round to it.

Hope evryone is well.

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 24/04/2012 13:33

Hello everyone, been away up north for a long weekend with the in-laws so they could see & feel the bump Smile They are so excited - first grandchild - and were really sweet, without being too intense about it. I've lucked out with them - read some in-laws horror stories on mn!

Beeble, what a lovely little bump you have! I didn't start showing until 19 weeks or so and it made it hard to believe there was actually anything going on in there! You have something to pat already, I wonder when you'll feel it start to move!

Flick, glad your appointment went well - and pleased (on your behalf) that your baby is dropping down the percentile ratings Grin. Your baby has a bit more time than mine to turn (does being so big make this harder for them?)
Not so good about the UTI though, what a thing to have to be dealing with, you poor thing.

I'm 34 weeks today and have reached the 'over it' stage! It all seems to have kicked in over the last week or so - fingers are now so fat I've had to remove my wedding & engagement rings and my bump seems to have DOUBLED in size! I made the mistake of stepping on a set of digital scales and got a bit of a shock - am 17.5kg heavier than I was 8 months ago! I also went to M&S to get another bra (they wouldn't measure for a nursing bra until I was 38 weeks) and found I was 4 inches and 2 cup sizes bigger than I started out Shock! I have heartburn, cramps, fatigue, needing the loo... I finish work a week on Friday which is also weird, and I don't know when the whole house-move is going to happen... I'm being a bit moan-y today, sorry!

Over the w/e I met up with a friend who's a midwife & she had a good feel of the bump - baby is still defiantly breach. She was saying it's also moving in a rolling side-to-side motion, showing no signs of even trying to flip itself round. Naughty baby! So I'll be spending my evenings on all-fours, leaning up against my big inflatable ball, while I watch TV! I think DH is more bothered about an early c-section than I am, I'm just taking it as it comes (and, at this moment, I wouldn't mind lopping a few weeks off the pregnancy either if I'm honest!)

Hope everyone else is doing well Smile

Beeblebear · 25/04/2012 22:26

Flick - Thanks! That sweater is lovely and stretchy. I'm going to try and keep taking belly picutures in it until I can no longer squeeze it over my lump!

You have a nicely shaped little bump going on there! Very cute.

I have a feeling that my bump will stay about this size now until 20ish weeks. Hasn't seemed to get any bigger in the last couple weeks. except after stuffing my face with food

Late - There has been a couple times while laying on my belly that I thought i felt some tiny little kicks. It felt alsmost like a tiny muscle spasm... but who knows really.

Sorry that you are tired and want bean out already, give ur belly a good little rub for me! I have been told rubbing bellies leads to smarter babies! Will you be 35 weeks when you are stopping work? What do you do for work? I'm trying to figure out when I should put as my last day. Here with our maternity benefits it makes the most sense to leave at the end of a pay cycle. If our pay cycle ends on the 15th and we work on the 16th we end up waiting 4 weeks instead of 2 for our EI payments to start. It's a bit funny.

EDD Oct 20th... Should i stop Sept 30th and try to find something to do with myself for nearly a month, or should i try and make it to Oct 15th?? I have a desk job.

Flickstar · 26/04/2012 09:27

Morning All,

beeble thats a tough decision to make! I am having to work up until I am 38+1 (if I make it that far!) and I do wish i could finish earlier. I would probably go for Sept 30th as it is just three weeks until your EDD and 5 days before might be pushing it a little.

late Urghhhh, i feel for you my dear! I am 29 weeks and not quite at the stage you are describing but am finidng it uncomfortable in bed and I'm alot slower than I used to be, my back twinges etc. I'm finding it hard to accept really as I have felt so well all pregnancy that I'm finidng it hard to deal with being achy, big and slow! I can only imagine how I'll feel 5 weeks down the line. When are you off for your scan to check your baby's position? One more week at work for you! Yipeeeeee.

DessieLou · 27/04/2012 13:49

Hello, Ladies! I had a dating scan on weds so saw the little heartbeat...weird! They couldn't get a very clear picture to take measurements so going back again next weds. After seeing the scan I finally felt comfortable enough to throw away the positive tests! MCT I am so thirsty too, constantly drinking water. The nausea has been a bit better the last few days so I'm hoping I'm over the worst of it.
Beeble I too had an abortion years ago so lots of feelings have been resurfacing. I'm hoping this baby will draw a line under all the guilt and bad feelings.
Sorry it's a quick post but really need to go eat before I pass out! Quick question, what pregnany book would you recommend? I got 'what to expect when you're expecting' but its a bit americanised.

Beeblebear · 27/04/2012 18:20

I have a few books. The what to expect book is the least read. It's more of a reference when I feel something funny... but mostly it just says... that could be bad - go see your doctor! ha ha ... not the most helpful

I have another one - your pregnancy week by week which is really good. Mostly it tells you what you need to hear - week 8 - you are probably thinking about maternity clothes shopping - but you probably don't need to quite yet / don't panic and those sorts of thigs. I have an older edition, but there have been a few new editions since mine.

2 scans, how lucky! Did they make you drink a reduculous amount of water? How many weeks will you be for the second scan.

Thank you for letting me know i'm not alone on the abortion. Mothers days have always been really hard. I think I'll have a hard time connecting with this little bean until I can start to feel it move.

DessieLou · 28/04/2012 14:56

I know what you mean Beeble. I don't feel how I thought I would, I'm not hugely excited, even when I saw the scan. I think I'm not letting myself feel happy as I have this bizarre thing in my head that 'Karma' will come and bite me in the arse and something will go wrong with this pregnancy. Stupid I know. Like you I think I'll start to bond when I'm a bit further along and feeling a bit more secure about the pregnancy. Confused
Thanks for the book recommendation, I'll look into that. I'll be 9 weeks next week when I have the 2nd scan. Yes I had to go with a full bladder...not a pleasant experience! Smile

Beeblebear · 28/04/2012 16:22

Dessie. I know exactly what you mean about the karma fear! I had exactly the same feeling (about a lot if things in life) when we were starting to try. I thought for sure this is where karma is going to get me, and it would take forever to get pregnant. But it happeded the second month. Boy was I wrong. I guess somewhere along the line karma has forgiven me, and all is well.

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 29/04/2012 20:04

Hello everyone - hope you're all keeping warm and dry inside on this horrible weekend!

Dessie, how lovely that you had a scan and saw that little flickering heartbeat Grin That's the most amazing thing, when you realise it's a real little life growing in there. I hope it's made you feel a bit more secure about it all. I had one at 7+5 - a 'reassurance scan' because of a previous miscarriage - and it reduced my stress levels for sure.

A friend gave me 'Your Pregnancy Bible' (Consulting Editor Dr. Anne Deans) and it's really good. It covers a huge amount of stuff, from conception right up to after the birth and everything in between. I also bought my DH 'The Expectant Dad's Survival Guide' which he has found very helpful and full of info.

Dessie & Beeble, I can't imagine what these pregnancies must mean to you after what you've both been through in the past, but I hope you're able to enjoy them and achieve some kind of healing as you progress through them.

Well, my last week of work starts tomorrow - when I meet my cover for the next 10 months! Very strange! I can say that I'll be nearly 36 weeks once I finish, and I'm more than ready to ditch the commute and sit on the sofa for a bit! My job is desk-based, so it's not too tiring or anything once I'm there, but I am knackered by the end of the day and the bump can feel very heavy... Flick, feel sorry for you having to push on until 38 weeks Sad. I'm taking advantage of being able to carry pretty much all of this years' annual leave (26 days) over to next year and stick it on the end of my ML, so I feel ok taking about 4 weeks before the due date - although if the baby maintains it's current breech position, I may be a mummy sooner than I expected!

I did a bit of lurking on the FTF Conception thread earlier (was checking up on Cave who was testing today) and saw that Pickle got a BFP! We must try and lure her over here... Grin

PricklyPickle · 29/04/2012 21:13

I'm here!

I thought I'd lurk for a bit before saying hello as tbh I feel like a bit of a fraud as I'm only 5 weeks pregnant, it doesn't seem real yet as I only got my BFP yesterday.

But you all seem lovely, I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions and alienate everyone Smile
