Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LateToThisBabyMalarky · 07/03/2012 11:02

Pixie, I didn't know you could get Gaviscon on prescription! What a revelation! I have made an appointment with the GP to get me one of those Grin

Did anyone / is anyone getting leg cramps?! I NEVER had any of this stuff before (heartburn, cramps), now I'm hopping around the bedroom at silly o'clock in the morning with cramp in BOTH legs at the same time! I don't suppose there's much you can do about cramp, yoga stretches help, but you're well & truly awake by that time of course....!

Florin, are you back from your hols? Hope you had a lovely time & are feeling well Smile

Flickstar · 07/03/2012 11:25

Yes late, I wake up with leg cramps! I find the best thing to do is just face the pain and straighten out the leg- ouch it hurts though and usually feels a bit pulled the next day but anything to get back to sleep quicker!

Can anyone tell me where my stomach is likely to be now?! I think I have a tummy ache- feel bloated and it fels grumbly but it is very high up. Is that likely to be my stomach?

Very strange. I have my scan tomorrow and midwife on Friday so will get one of them to show me where my body parts are as I keep getting random aches and pains and not being sure whats hurting! Maybe it's just everything squishing up?

pixiestix · 07/03/2012 11:37

Yes!! Free gaviscon! Its white instead of pink and comes in a labelless bottle but it does the trick nicely. Make sure you get them to give you an industrial bucket-sized one. I had a stingy doctor who gave me tiny little bottles - for about a week. After I had come back three times the same week he cottoned on! Grin

With leg cramps I find it best to pull my foot up as far as I can - total agony but the cramp dosappears immediately.

Lol Flick Grin That does sound suspiciously like your very squished stomach!

Flickstar · 08/03/2012 12:38

Hello Ladies,
Back from scan- all went well however there were a few hairy moments. Lots of hushed voices and whispering between the sonographers and lots of repeating of the head measurements. Dh and I were terrified. It turns out that baby is absolutely fine- just ENORMOUS. He is apparently measuring on the 95th percentile and already weighs around 1lb 4oz. Bloody hell! My waters are also at the upper end of the normal limits so am back for a rescan at 28 weeks to check on growth and my waters. The sonographer said having a lot of water is common in big babies as they wee lots!

Anyone have any experience of being told their baby was very big and then having a ?normal? sized one?! late didn't you have something similar?

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 08/03/2012 19:47

Hi Flick, really pleased to hear everything went well with the scan & your little boy is all normal Smile You're right, at my 20-week scan the sonographer said my baby was in the 97th percentile! She actually said 'How do you feel about having a big baby?' How are you supposed to answer that?! She calculated a new EDD (it was just a couple of days earlier) which put it safely in the 50th percentile and I went for a growth scan to confirm it at 24 weeks - maybe they'll do the same kind of thing with you? Mine is pretty much bang on track now with it's new date. I did think your bump was big seeing as you're about 5 weeks behind me Grin

Anyway, glad they didn't pick up any anomalies - did you get some good pictures of it?

Flickstar · 09/03/2012 07:45

Thanks late! I think perhaps my dates are a bit out anyway- have been moved back 5 days overall from my LMP dates so maybe my LMP dates were right after all. Either way, I don't mind. What will be will be and baby is fit and healthy so thats the main thing. Will see what 28 week scan has to say.

We got some lovely pictures! We were lucky enough to get a couple of 3D pics as she said baby was in such a good position that she couldn't resist taking a few shots of his face. Have put one on my profile- it's a little freaky!

Hope you're doing well, creeping towards 30 weeks! EEEK. Have you started buying stuff?

pixiestix · 09/03/2012 12:10

Oh Flick, wow!! What an amazing photo! Smile

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 09/03/2012 12:25

oh wow Flick, you can really see his little face!
HOW Envy am I!!! My baby was incredibly uncooperative at the last scan and we only got 2 pics out of it - it wasn't moving for love or money!

The weeks are really beginning to whizz past now, I can't believe that I'll be 28 weeks on Tuesday - that sounds like it should be another milestone date, but I'm not sure why? At work they've started recruiting my maternity cover which feels a little odd, but I've only got about 9 or 10 weeks left which is quite scary Shock We haven't started buying anything yet - we're in the middle of selling our flat & buying a house so I think we'll wait until some dates have been firmed up before we go mad on that front. A colleague of mine said she didn't get anything at all before the birth (didn't want to tempt fate or something) and between her DH and the internet they got everything in about 2 days!

Flickstar · 09/03/2012 12:47

Yep, I don't think you need to go mad stocking up before! I have been but only beacuse I wanted to spread the cost and hope that somehow I will have been able to buy all of my baby stuff without realising or feeling like I've forke dout a load of cash in one day. Weird logic but workd for me!

28 weeks is a milestone date! Isn't it the start of your third trimester?! Still not sure how the trimesters work! Also it's another good date because I'm sure I've read that babies have an ever better chance of survival outside of the womb at 28 weeks as opposed to 24. Sounds strange about work! How many weeks will you be when you finish?

Thanks pixie I'm so glad you still pop in!

Where is florin?! Might go and have a stalk on the June anti natal thread and see if I can spot her.

How are the new BFPers?

pixiestix · 09/03/2012 17:03

28 weeks is a massive milestone Late. Sources vary but most say that roughly 9 out of 10 babies born at 28 weeks survive. Its a fantastically reassuring bit of pregnancy to get to Smile

PearlyFish · 09/03/2012 19:29

Hi all,
V quick message as I'm meant to be packing to go away for the weekend!
Things are good with me. Have had a bit of nausea but nothing major. Had my booking in appointment and am due to go back for a blood test next week. Also got my dating scan booked for about 5 weeks time - very exciting!

Haven't had time to read all the posts properly, but just wanted to say glad your scan went well flick and late hope the heartburn eases up!

highheelsandequations · 09/03/2012 19:45

Flick what a fantastic photo! Glad all went well with the scan. No advice about big babies but I did have lots of water (as I discovered when they broke and continued to gush out for the rest of the day Blush), think that's why my bump was so huge whilst Rose was pretty average. You seem to have the right attitude about it anyway, don't worry, what will be will be!

Late yay for the 28 week milestone, I didn't buy anything for ages and was panicking that I'd never be organised, but we were. To be honest, there is very little that you actually need in the first few days/weeks and you can easily buy/order anything you do need.

Pearly glad all's going well, exciting now you have a scan date to count down to!

Sorry for gatecrashing the pregnancy thread, I seem to be in here a lot just now, hope noone minds. I've put a new photo of Rose on my profile, she is getting so grown up now I can't believe it!

Hellooooo! How are you doing, enjoying snuggles & snuffles with your little baby? Hope you're well & happy Grin

Gatecrash all you like, we need your wisdom as we all flounder around being preggers for the first time Smile

Pearly, how exciting that you're all booked in & have your first scan scheduled! Roll on 5 weeks so you can see the little thing wriggling around on the screen, it's wonderful!

So, I find myself in my THIRD trimester! Shock
Really love that statistic Pixie, that's a great thing to know, thank you. I think I am relaxing a lot more now we've got this far. And I have my prescription for my bucket of Gaviscon in my hand which I shall be claiming at the first opportunity today, oh blessed relief!

Hope eveyone else is well & enjoying this luverly weather Smile

Flickstar · 14/03/2012 08:40

Morning ladies,

Hope everyone is well.

HH I second late, do keep popping in! Hopefully you will be a second time frolicker soon Grin We need your pearls of wisdom on summer babies! Can you tell me what kind of vests you used for Rose when she was born? Short sleeved or sleevless or long sleeved or does it not really not matter?! I know it will depend on the weather but any tips?!

late third trimester! Very excited for you. Hope the gaviscon is doing the trick.

lanky good to see you! I can't rememebr what you asked me in your post as I read it and then it disappeared. Glad all is well with you- you are so totally hard core after that birth lady! Did you say you used tens? I can't remember?

WHERE IS FLORIN?! COME BACK!!!

Not long now until your scan pearly! What date?

Hope all well with everyone- I can feel some new BFPS in the water and am crossing everything for all of old timers cave, josie, raspberry etc.

highheelsandequations · 14/03/2012 12:46

flick for the first few weeks after Rose was born she spent all her time in short sleeved vests under long sleeved sleepsuits, cardigan added as needed, but we didn't really have much of a summer here! I found Rose was actually quite a warm baby so she's often wearing less than the other babies at groups, on hot days, a nappy and short sleeved bodysuit are enough for her. Layers are the best thing to go for as they can be added/removed as necessary, and preferably things that have poppers so don't need to be pulled over baby's head for the first weeks/months. Things with feet are also very useful, they now confuse Rose as she can't get her socks off :)

Late you're on the home stretch now :)

Glad you don't mind me popping in, I'd miss this place if I had to leave!!

Beeblebear · 14/03/2012 13:11

Morning all!

Didn't quite have the chance to catch all the way up, but pearly, I'm doing well. Mild nausea in the evenings right before bed, terrible for the sex life! Scan on april 9th. Still so far away.

Waves to everyone else...

, Flick - total bump envy! And cute ( but a little creepy, I agree) scan picture. Those 3d scans are odd.

Third triimester....so...far...away!

bunnygirl80 · 15/03/2012 10:16

We have our first second (and third Shock) time frolicker! If any of you remember whiteroses she had twins yesterday, just less than 18 months after she had her DS ShockGrin

flick William was a summer baby and he just lived in little short sleeved babygros most of the time. We had a couple of little cardigans to put on him if we went somewhere a bit cool, and some long sleeved footed sleepsuits that he wore overnight. Our summers probably a bit warmer than yours though, so you may require a few more layers Wink As you're tall and possibly anticipating a long baby, I'd maybe avoid things with feet, as they outgrow them very quickly......clothing manufacturers seem to think babies have stumpy legs. Footless things and socks might be a better bet (or maybe you'll be a better mummy than me and you won't force your baby to wear their clothes until they are way way too small Wink

pixiestix · 17/03/2012 11:51

Wonder mum WhiteRoses you are AMAZING!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Beeble get used to your sex life being messed up. Thats it now forever Wink Grin

I second Flick in crossing everything for a new flock of old-timer BFPs. They are so wanted and deserved.

Glad you got your presecription Late! It will save you a small fortune over the next few weeks.

Only three weeks now until Empusa's little boy is due! Smile Which means you must be at 37 weeks and classed as full term now! Exciting!!!! I bet after all that sickness and stress you must be so so ready to meet Tristram Smile

pixiestix · 18/03/2012 10:15

Happy Mothers Day Frolicker Mummies! Smile

highheelsandequations · 18/03/2012 12:56

Happy mummy's day to all Thanks

Flickstar · 19/03/2012 08:26

Gorgeous, sunny day here! Hope all mummies and mummies-to-be had lovely mother's days yesterday. How lovely for you to be having your first mother's day!

Thanks HH and bunny for your summer baby tips. Great idea bunny on the no feet sleep suits too!

I just like to be organised and find it so annoying that I don't know what size this baby will fit into when he is here. Straight into 6-12 months at this rate Wink

Hope the gaviscon is going down well late! rock and roll life styles us pregos lead hey?!

Glad beeble and pearly are doing well- keep ticking off those days ladies and your scans will be here before you know it.

HH I have another question for you- being a teacher, how long did you work up until?

highheelsandequations · 19/03/2012 11:37

Flick I worked to 37.5 weeks, another week would have taken me to the end of term and I did consider it but then decided against it (glad I had when she showed up a week early!). Was getting tough by the end though.

Beeblebear · 19/03/2012 12:50

3 more weeks until the scan! ...twiddles thumbs...

Told everyone at work on fri, so that should make getting dressed for work th is morning much easier.

Hope you all are feeling well.

Flickstar · 19/03/2012 16:17

Thanks HH am aiming to get the end of term which will make me 38+1. I imagine it will be pretty horrific by the end but it is so worth it financially if I can. Will see how it goes...

How exciting to have told work beeble how many weeks are you now? 9ish?
