sorry - not the best at thread naming, but thought we needed one as 100years said.

Hope you found out what was wrong 100years, and are getting treatment.

Had ongoing aches and pains all day but nothing in a contractiony way. Parents coming tonight instead of Saturday though which is good as can then relax about something getting going properly in the middle of the night, as they live about 4 hours away. And have a sweep on Monday, so if they plan to stay till Tuesday, I will at least know on Monday whether anything is dilating etc.

jimmijam · 25/09/2011 20:18

An old colleague of ours was due on the 14th (induction bookef 4 this wed). Her waters broke yesterday but she got sent home from hospital due 2 irregular contractions. Her contractions have since stopped!! Must b so frustrating 2 finally think things r happening then that! :-( bless, & its her 1st. Doubt shes on this thread, but just incase- p im sending labour vibes ur way :-)

Cant believe im saying this but i really want 2 sort out the washing & ironing but lo wont settle so i may just head 2 bed after x factor. Got hv visit 2moro am. Dh @ work 2nite :-(

CBear6 · 26/09/2011 00:04

Hope you get a good sleep and LO settles down Jimmijam, it's all that little bit easier with a decent bit of shut-eye.

DS is still running a temperature and generally unwell, he ended up in our bed at 2am last night where he tossed and turned and wanted to cuddle up to both of us at once which was a little like hugging a furnace. I'm hoping for a good sleep tonight too and he's at the doctors tomorrow if he's still not right.

SIL has been told she'll be induced in Saturday if she doesn't deliver in the meantime. My lovely brother took her on a six mile walk yesterday, I'd have told him where to shove his six miles so she obviously has the patience of a saint. I can't wait to meet my little niece but I hope she goes into labour herself because she wants the MW led unit and an induction would remove that option for her.

Minkyjj · 26/09/2011 05:18

Cbear - hoping you are getting a better nights sleep.

tiddleypompom · 26/09/2011 09:08

6 miles?! Crikey, that'd have taken me about a week!

Well I have mw this afternoon for my first post-dates visit - kinda hoping (ok am going to force) her to check things out down there and sweep if favourable. Last night was particularly uncomfy so can't help but think something has started to happen, though as we know this could be the case for several days yet..

Alice, we Libras are great :o)

Sun is out so I am off to potter before going round to visit friend and her newborn, I made her a tealoaf yesterday so go bearing gifts, hoping for cuddle of baby in exchange!

Happy Monday!

Milliebow · 26/09/2011 09:20

My induction is booked for Saturday too cbear. Hope I go before then as hoping for Home birth. No such luck though. Not been on mm mn for the weekend as getting generally fed up- now 9 days overdue. Enjoyed a walk on the beach on sat but my spd is not letting me forget it now!

Tp jojo black cats and cosmic hope you are feeling churpier (?sp) than me. Come on tardy babies make an appearance!

Cbear hope your ds is better. Jimi - here's to a better nights sleep.

I can't believe the mothercare stories-they have been fine with us but then only got a few bits and car seat off them. Mammas and papas much worse and have vowed never to shop there again with their poor customer service.

Right raspberry Brew all round. Promise will try and keep positive- baby this week one way or another!

Jojo1983 · 26/09/2011 09:37

Morning! Had a rubbish weekend so wanted to have this baby out while my family was down visiting. Had a big show yesterday with a few tightening but have all died down yet again!

Scared the poor young bloke in the 02 shop over the weekend by asking him what I would get if my waters broke right then, he said it was the best day for it to happen as the big boss was in lol shame it didnt I really fancy the new iphone 5 when it comes out!

Bit confused over what to do as I'm having baby in a hospital which is out of borough I am now not seeing any midwive until baby is here which could been another week yet does this sound right?

Milliebow hope you get your home birth will keep my fingers crossed for you. I dont mind where i give birth I just want it to happen now lol

Milliebow · 26/09/2011 10:24

It does sound right about not seeing someone for a week, going by my friends experiences. Take it you are booked for induction then jojo. Anyone else got any experience? I'm back on Wed but only as having second sweep. Induction already booked. Know what you mean about just wanting the baby out, at times I don't really care how. DH was off Friday and weekend- was so hard when he went back to work today.

Jojo1983 · 26/09/2011 10:45

Yup been booked in for monday 3rd but have to call in the morning to make sure there is a bed available. No more sweeps booked in for me which is prob why im finding it all a bit strange not seeing a midwife.

Alicebw · 26/09/2011 12:22

Due date today, come along baba!!!!

CBear6 · 26/09/2011 16:02

The better night's sleep went out of the window. We were headed up to bed and DD pooped, my turn to change her. There was a little streak of blood in the nappy but she'd had a little mini-period when she was first born which they'd said was normal and I presumed that's what it was until she pooped while I had the nappy off and actual clots of blood came out of her bottom. Out of hours doctor told us to go straight to A&E so we grabbed her stuff, threw on the first clothes we laid our hands on, dropped DS at my folks' house, and went - me in a sun dress, long cardigan, and flip-flops and DH in a painty t-shirt and jeans, dress shoes, and no socks, we must have looked a right sight! They admitted us onto the children's ward and did blood tests for all sorts of things which all came back clear, thankfully. They let us go this afternoon and will do more tests if it happens again but they seem reasonably confident that it's been a one off. I very much wanted to be re-pregnant with her, she seemed much safer in there and I was far less worried!

So here's to another attempt at an early night tonight. Planning a take-away, baths all round, and all four of us in bed by 9pm! :)

2BlackCats · 26/09/2011 16:25

CBear that sounds awful, glad everything seems ok now and good luck with the early night.

Life is great isn't it! Still waiting, and still in agony from what I now think is probably pelvic girdle pain... the joys of being overdue. Sweep booked for Wednesday which I wasn't sure about but is definitely sounding more appealing. Managed to worry DH last night by screaming in pain at 2am trying to turn over :) and then shaking uncontrollably with pain for several minutes after. Been waiting all day for the physio to call. Spent most of the last couple of days in bed as it is the most comfortable place to be.

Had to get DH to phone parents as they rang this morning wanting to come up - to say it isn't really convenient to have visitors this week... even well intentioned ones are a bit too much when you can barely stand up, don't think I am making myself very popular :(

Just checked with the two closest mothercare stores to see if they had any support belts in stock, and true to form neither do - at least they are consistent:)

Hope everyone else is having a better time...

CBear6 · 26/09/2011 17:33

Blackcats, :( that pain sounds awful.

Is there a John Lewis near you? Their maternity department is usually pretty well stocked, larger Boots stores too, might be worth a try to see if they've got a belt.

I'm sure your parents understand why you don't want visitors.

Milliebow · 26/09/2011 18:47

blackcats i couldn't find a belt in store - had to order one. a crepe bandage from chemist and around the round the front of your pubic bone and the top part of the pelvis at the back should help though in mean time. hope you feel better.

ssmile · 26/09/2011 19:01

blackcats that sounds horrid. The Physio I saw said any belt or fabric tied as tight as you can manage around lower hips will help. She suggested dressing gown belt in lieu of proper one. Gd luck I tried several belts from online didnt find much to help except giant tubi grip i got from hospital Physio.
cbear gosh hope your little one is ok and you all get more restful nights sleep.

Louplet · 26/09/2011 21:09

Sorry have been out of the loop for a while with our gorgeous new DD who is not letting me get too much rest between her and her 2 brothers Smile

Congratulations to all those recently popped. Lots of empathy for those overdue. DD finally arrived 11 days overdue following induction so bang went my dreams of a water birth in the birth centre. Ho hum. We got rushed in in the end as had a appt for fetal monitoring 2 days before due to be induced and they decided then and there that they thought it would be best to induce me that night instead which was a bit of a shock.

They decided to start the process at 1am. I was already having some minor contractions and they did a sweep. Didn't need to use pessary or anything. Then took me down to labour ward around 3am ish. Called DH in and then around 4.30am broke my waters. Needed continuous fetal monitoring so was unfortunately stuck flat on my back v annoying.

Regular contractions but when checked at around 7am only 2cm so MW decided I needed the drip. Put that in around 7.10am. An hour later contractions were a little fiercer though no closer together (probably every 3 mins or so) and she started talking about CS if no progress within 4 hours of drip starting. I decided I needed some gas and air around then though tbh the hypnotherapy and breathing I had done up until then were pretty much just as good. It just gave me something else to focus on.

I had explained to the MW that my previous labours had gone along the path of nothing seeming to happen for ages and then bam! 0-60 very quickly. I also explained that I tended to ask for an epidural at that point even though I didn't want one (typical transition thing) and by that time it was always too late anyway. I was v tired by now due to the lack of sleep and agreed that if I got to that point she would examine me and if I was not v far along would sort out an epidural and if not we would be nearly there and I wouldn't want one.

Shift changed around 8.30am and this was all explained to new mw. Shortly after I told the new mws I thought I was approaching the possible epidural point. They said that I was coping with the pain really well and was not due to be examined again until 10.30am so basically they didn't think I was that far along but said rather than examine me they could just arrange the epidural. I agreed though was a bit surprised they couldn't just examine me. By this time contractions were close together, long and fierce. Anaesthetist came in to explain the epidural etc and I nodded through the contractions. As she got everything ready things were getting very fierce and the mw said perhaps she should examine me first after all. I was beyond being examined at that point and felt the head coming down and started to push. Shortly after at 9.10am we had a baby Smile much to the mws shock! According to their records 1st stage was 1hr 57 mins (from the drip though I think actually it would have been shorter than that if taken from when 4cm dilated) and 2nd stage was 3 minutes Grin. Was v pleased I had avoided the epidural again and also proved the mws wrong. Why they always think they know better is beyond me. This was the third time this had happened in the same way after all!

Anyway DD was fine weighing in at 3.460kg and lovely. We went home same day and her brothers both adore her. After much deliberation we have decided to call her Seraphina Grace despite DS1's insistence that we should call her Flowersmell!!!

Anyway. All good things come to those who wait so am waving my pom poms for my fellow overduers. It will all be worth it in the end.

CBear6 · 26/09/2011 21:27

Congratulations again Louplet, beautiful name too! :)

100years · 26/09/2011 22:48

Congrats louplet and yoshi and wasps :) lovely names everyone.

LO is a guzzler and is 1lb over birth weight at day 17 on breast milk only :) super feeding hey.

I'm v tired but loving it, but things like posting are taking a big back seat just now while I try and get used to the tiredness. Still reading just not posting.

Hoping the remaining few have their babies v soon and get to enjoy baby cuddles they are fab.

Conkertree · 26/09/2011 22:53

Blackcats - its probably a bit late, but if you want me to post my belt that I got last pregnancy as I had spd, but dodnt need this time, and didnt wear much anyway, pm your address and I'll pop it in the post tomorrow.

Congratulations Louplet - havent read your story yet but will go back and do so now.

Feeling a bit fluey today and yesterday. Lots of shivers and going hot and cold. Pil were meant to be taking the older two out for the day, but wanted to take me and dh out for lunch to celebrate, and it just was not what I needed, bt it was kind of them, so we went. Hopefully tomorrow, dh is going to takr the older two out somehwhere and Fergus and I can just sit on the sofa and watch films. Boobs are huge and sore.

Conkertree · 26/09/2011 22:59

Oh and cbear - that sounds very very frightening. Glad it all seems to be fine now, but you must have got such a shock. Echo the hope you got a nice relaxing evening and early bed tonight.

Jojo - I'd be disappointed not to be getting a sweep before next Monday as well. While the 3rd October is a most excellent day to be born (will be my 30th bday), I can imagine you will want to know whether you have started yourself etc before then. Is the not knowing that I always hated. Is there no community midwife team that you have been seeing up till now that you can request one from (I know sweeps arent the be all and end all, but it gives you a sooner date to focus on).

OP posts:
Conkertree · 26/09/2011 23:04

Louplet - great story (well apart from the long start and the mws) amd a lovely name. I agree about the mws - especially with a third, you'd think they would believe you when you have done it twice before, but it was the same reason that I nearly had ds3 in the pre-labour ward. Oh well - glad you are all doing well, and hope her big brothers are being gentle with her.

Ds1 has been lovely with ds3, holdig him on the sofa etc. Ds2 wants to do exactly the same, but needs a little more help.

Minkyjj · 27/09/2011 00:16

Louplet - congrats and I think the names are beautiful.
Cbear - what a worry for you - hope you got your early night and are storing loads of zzzzzs.
Boob update from brestfeeding - one side is no longer painful ( babe is eleven days old) other boob still sore and cracked but am just about managing to feed. Still using nipple shields and lansinohl on that side but will take a while to heal I think. Just wanted to say though that it is getting better from the first few weeks so worth the struggle I think.
Cheering you all on ladies - very excited for you all about to experience the most wonderful event ever - go girlies !

ssmile · 27/09/2011 01:41

For those new arrivals I've bumped the stats arrivals list in postnaa threads. Do add yourselves as my sleep deprived brain too tired to read back much!
Glad you ok 100rs, glad you keeping BF going minkyjit gets SO much easier once past the 3wk growth spurt. My babe did hourly feeding for a day at 20days I wondered what the bell going on! Today at 31days she done several 3hrly sketches between 20min feeds so things starting to even out a bit. I think 6wks is the magic time when it really gets easier so I keep focusing on that on tough days!
Tonight our non-sleeping 4yr old only had 30min tantrum at bed then settled herself Woohoo so hoping she now sleeps through and our babe slept from 7.30pm until 10pm so I got some zzzzz in sleep bank and DH had much needed restful evening on his Xbox!
Sending you all gd sleep vibes which I feeding Lo :)

Milliebow · 27/09/2011 07:42

Congratulations louplet. Nice to prove the midwives wrong Wink.10 days over and gradually thinking induction is going to be the way this baby comes. Glad to hear you managed without epudural despite the drip. I have until Saturday. Feel as if this baby is just getting heavier and heavier to carry around. Back on cocodamol for spd now and the resulting constipation is not helping matters. Large cup of coffee and glass of oj helped for now. Sorry if tmi!

Cbear hope everything going better today. Also good luck to all those now on with the woes of breast feeding. Hoping it will be my time shortly.

On the ?plus side induction is booked for day before my wedding anniversary so should be ace present although not exactly what I though I'd be doing then!

Happy Tuesday everyone. Sending labour vibes to my fellow waiters.:)

tiddleypompom · 27/09/2011 08:52

Morning everyone - and welcome to the world Seraphina, what a beautiful name and a positive birth story, thank you louplet!

Mille, Jojo, Alice, Blackcats - and all with tardy bumps - my pom pom waving continues, even whilst my own LO remains insitu :o

The mw visit yesterday was positive in that baby is fine (2/5 eng.) and so am I. I requested that she try a sweep (think you have to ask as she wasn't going to offer), however though she said all was soft and 'favourable', she couldn't reach the os to sweep. Since then I have been in what I presume is false labour - tightenings that are mildly uncomfortable but not regular. Bad night being intermittently woken by them and then a pink tinge on toilet paper this morning. Could things be starting to happen...??

tiddleypompom · 27/09/2011 08:56

Millie I have suffered from constipation too - thanks to iron supplements. I use Fybrogel (sp?) powder dissolved in water. A bit 'boak' but it does the trick, and is safe to use. Yellow box. I really hope you don't have to wait till Saturday either way :)
