sorry - not the best at thread naming, but thought we needed one as 100years said.

Hope you found out what was wrong 100years, and are getting treatment.

Had ongoing aches and pains all day but nothing in a contractiony way. Parents coming tonight instead of Saturday though which is good as can then relax about something getting going properly in the middle of the night, as they live about 4 hours away. And have a sweep on Monday, so if they plan to stay till Tuesday, I will at least know on Monday whether anything is dilating etc.

Tiddleypom - sounds like it could be helping - get out for a good walk, bounce on your ball and visualise the baby moving down. We'll wave your pom poms for you while you do all that.

Milliebow - hate constipation. Thought I had escaped ok this time but seems not. The dreaded piles (sorry if tmi) have arrived. Going to drink loads of water today. Sure the amount ds3 is eating is making me a bit dehydrated.

Woke up last night in a pool of sweat. Think the high temp is coming down but still a bit shivery. Will ask the mw today about it. Ds3 only woke once between 2.30 and 8 which was lovely (wont mention the bit before 2.30.).

conketrree make sure you rule out matastits as when I got it first symptoms were fever, temp, shiving not nice. I did have funny night with this babe same symptoms night 5 or 6put it down to spinal anesthetic /shock as it wasnt mastitous this time and gone in few hrs. Things our poor bodies go through!

ssmile · 27/09/2011 10:15

Waving my pompoms for those still waiting gd luck with sweeps and ball bouncing.
I said to babe last night let's try a ball bounce to settle u, my DH replied "oooh yes please" thing he feeling rather neglected as been no DTD in this hse for couple months now, I just lost mojo completey. Last time we were at it within 10d as MW neatly caught us :o hope I can rekindle once I get more settled babe &DD1 and feel less like keeping the hamster wheel of life going!

Conkertree · 27/09/2011 18:02

Been quiet thread today. Any progress for the waiting women?

The mw thinks I possibly have endometritis, so have got antibiotics. I have got a few lumps in the breasts too, so I had wondered about mastitis, but think its jst bloked ducts. my abdomen was sore when she pressed it, so she reckoned the abs wouldnt do any harm. Hope they work anyway. Would be nice to not be feeling so odd.

Conkertree · 27/09/2011 18:07

100 years - I did the same as you and thought she said endometriois.

No real news here still got the occasional back pain and belly pain but it never comes to anything so havenow got my mind set on being induced on Monday

Minkyjj · 28/09/2011 00:25

Just popping by post feed to cheer you all on - sending you good vibes and happening thoughts !
Ssmile - hope your dd1 is having a better nights sleep.
Conker - really hope you feel much better soon, that's tough.
totally babybrained tonight and forgotten who said what but sending you all my positive thoughts wherever you are.
I had a better day today - signed off by midwives. Health visitor coming tomorrow. Lo has got just 35grams to go before he reaches his birth weight again ( he is two weeks old today and will be just under seven pounds) still very dinky but makes up for it in the cute stakes. Midwives could not believe how much hair he has! Had a lovely surprise visit from oldest friend which was lovely and I have managed another day of feeding. So all good Grin

sebs71 · 28/09/2011 11:04

Pom poms shaking for all those getting close... TP sounds like you may be close!!

Cbear. Hope everything ok now

Louplet lovely unusual name!

Like 100years I'm still reading and cheering but finding hard to post. Day seems to revolve around feeding - Alys is gaining again but not much so trying to up feeds and in this lovely heat she falls asleep on the boob a lot!!

She was bit poorly last night which is frightening but better this morning. Think it was heat after a walk in afternoon.

DP back to work today:(

Good luck lovely ladies in waiting xx

tiddleypompom · 28/09/2011 12:00

Another night of quite painful tightenings till they stopped at 5am. Am completely knackered! All a bit discouraging as we were certain things were on their way last night - DH was pawing the ground poor thing! Just returned from walk and going to try and nap to regain energy in case things start again, but really hoping to avoid another awful night like that. Been leapfrogged yet again by NCT friend - only 2 of us to go and last is due on 9th Oct so SURELY I won't be last??

Jojo and all others left, I feel your pain!

loomer · 28/09/2011 12:04

Hello everyone, finally got a chance to post (a week after it all kicked off)... will quickly type out birth story (trying to keep it brief):

As you know, my waters broke (with a distinct 'pop') last wednesday morning, and immediately started having contractions around ten minutes apart. These lasted for a couple of hours but then became much more sporadic. Took a walk with DH to try and get things going again, and when we got home I took some homeopathic remedies and DH massaged some acupressure points - this seemed to get contractions going a little more regularly, but still anything between 15 and 30 minutes apart. Midwife advised not to worry, apparently current 'rules' are that you can go for up to four days after waters break before they will intervene.

However, at six o'clock that evening I went to change my pad (been leaking fluid all day long), and found that there was meconium in there... midwife popped over to check that it wasn't just some old blood, but confirmed that it was definitely meconium and quite a lot of it too, so unfortunately my homebirth plans went straight out the window, and we had to go immediately up to hospital where I was strapped onto fetal monitor and given drip to get contractions going properly. This also meant no chance of water birth and restricted my movements/positioning options. However, it did mean that I was getting much closer to meeting my baby (!) and after being on the drip for a couple of hours the contractions were really starting to come on strong. Just as I was getting to the point where I didn't know quite how to handle the pain anymore, or what to do with myself I felt the urge to push, and midwife confirmed that I was fully dilated and ready to go. 25 minutes of pushing (which seemed like such a relief after the intensity of the first stage contractions) and out popped baby's head. Whilst we were waiting for the next contraction (to get the rest of her out) she opened her eyes and started breathing, making little noises, whilst we gazed at her beautiful head - that was most certainly one of the most surreal moments of my life!

She came out very calmly and latched on to feed within the first couple of minutes, which was lovely. I lost quite a lot of blood (bit of a shock to DH I think as our previous homebirth in pool was not very bloody at all), but the midwives were just gorgeous and so supportive and I think given the circumstances it was a remarkably easy birth.

Unfortunately the subsequent 24 hours on the postnatal ward did not compare. They wanted to do 2-hourly checks on baby, as due to the amount of meconium in utero there was a possibility of lung infection, and this necessitated me staying in for the next 24 hours. However, after 18 hours DH and I could clearly tell that baby was doing really well, whereas I was starting to hallucinate from lack of sleep (hadn't managed to get any kip since the previous morning). BUT because baby's respiratory rate was marginally lower than 'required' by the paedeatricians they didn't want to discharge us. Cut a long story short, we eventually discharged ourselves against their wishes (at 11pm on Thursday), having promised to come straight back in if we felt that anything at all was awry with baby during the night. This meant that I finally crashed at home and we ALL slept for four hours, which made me feel sane again.

Obviously having had a homebirth with DC1 I had no idea what it would be like on the postnatal ward, and I have to say that it was quite a shock, it is far from the kind of environment that I would wish on a new mum and a new baby. They were full to bursting, the poor midwives just didn't have time to really attend consistently to anyone, it was hot and stuffy with no fresh air, the food was astonishingly lame (I managed to get one piece of fresh fruit - an apple - eventually, but this was not easily forthcoming), and I would imagine that if I was a first-time mother I would have been completely freaked out and bewildered by the whole experience.

Anyhow, that's my rant over. Thankfully since we've been back home I've had the full support and attention of my lovely community midwives, as well as my mum, and both myself and Kitty have been chilled out and happy. In fact she is a total revelation in comparison to her big sister - who we seemed to have to bounce around the room on an almost constant basis for the first four months, with barely half an hours snatched sleep here and there. Kitty has been a total star, feeding like crazy (on day five she was three ounces UP on her birth weight), and sleeping easily, and only really crying with wind or hunger. What a difference!

So from what I can recall, out of all the people on here who were aiming/hoping for a homebirth, not one of us has managed it so far - or have I missed someone out? It would make some interesting stats I think.

Meanwhile I have been reading the thread, and keeping up with the last few left - waving pom poms all over the place for TP, Jojo, CosmicCloud, Alice, Millie and Blackcats... come on you babies, we need to meet you soon! Hope that the last few days aren't too tiring/stressful for any of you, Blackcats did you manage to track down a support belt to help you?

Also massive congrats to Louplet (what a beautiful name for your girl, sounds like an angel's name!) Sarahseager, Conker, Wasps and Yoshi, I will keep up with all your news on the postnatal thread now I guess.

Hope I haven't missed anyone - apologies if I have, blaming it on the sleep deprivation Grin.

It's really getting warm now huh? Hope that our little ones can cope with the heatwave, and that the mums-in-waiting don't have to suffer last minute swollen ankles on top of everything else!

Alicebw · 28/09/2011 13:22

Sorry to hear you're not very well conker and good to hear your birth story loomer, even if it wasn't quite what you expected! Alson thinking about everyone else on here.

I went to see the Dr yesterday and blood pressure a lot better on labetarol (is that right?) so he said they wouldn't try any sort of induction until 12 days overdue, or if bp goes up again. Have to go to midwife every other day to get it checked. Aargh. I certainly hope don't have to wait another 11 days, especially in this heat. Went for another curry last night and also tried holding on to some scaffolding and shaking it all about. Friends asked what I was doing and I said was trying to shake the baby out. Didn't work though! Gonna go for a walk this afternoon.

Have yucky cold (or else it's the labetarol) and just got painful ulcers on tongue. I want to be well to greet my little one :(

Dh being very sweet though, giving me lots of cuddles etc. Love him.

Jojo1983 · 28/09/2011 15:57

Whoop finally got through to the community midwives and am now booked in to have a sweep @ 9.00 tomorrow morning! Im so excited i could of kissed her (if wasn't separated by a phone!)

This heat is killing me was in tears last night all because I was hot good old DP went and got me the fan so while he slept with the duvet wrapped round him i laid with the fan on me all night!

Its all a bit quite on here lately so finger crossed that means more babies are in the process of being born!

Pom poms are out in force might even make DP wave some lol

sebs71 · 28/09/2011 15:58

TP - that's how it all started with me, but had 3 nights of tightenings (and thinking 'this is it') before things kicked off. But the nights of tightenings are useful as I think they start to soften and thin out the cervix so if you have any sweeps they should be more effective. No idea why they just come at night - not so useful when you're trying to conserve some energy for the big event, so get some sleep in the day.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the birth you had planned Loomer, it seems very few of us did or do. My birth plan went out the window within hours of the whole process starting.

Alicebw - glad you getting lots of cuddles... having a cold and ulcers doesn't sound good. Hope you feel better soon, and curries and walks work. Hope you don't have wait too long and yes, the heat is not good (for those waiting and for little ones too).

2 days left of September... come on little ones...

2BlackCats · 28/09/2011 20:38

Conkertree, Thanks thank you so much for the offer of the support, I saw the physio yesterday and it looks like I just managed to do something to my back sending it into spasm, she also pointed out that I am totally lopsided so I assume that everthing has just moved out of line... so not pgp, which is good news as I have some exercises and feel a lot better :) I can now contemplate going through labour which I couldn't a couple of days ago. Baby on the other hand has some other ideas Wink unsucessfull sweep this morning... doesn't look like it will be a september baby after all! (You just never know though!) Moving on from that will have another sweep mon/tues and mw is happy to book induction for +14 in order to give it a good chance of starting naturally :)

I don't know about anyone else but I am ashamed to say I am disappointed with the lovely warm forecast for the next few days... connected with the fact that my ankles seem to have disappeared, bp is absolutely fine so just heat related, just unexpected this late in the game :( Bonus is I get some last wears out of the summer clothes that I didn't think would come out again Grin Hope all you others aren't finding the heat too much, it probably is worse with a baby than when still pg as you just have yourself to worry about when pg.

Looking forward to bed and fan now.

CosmicCloud · 29/09/2011 08:50

Just to update Daniel Fraser arrived on the 27th September at 7.03am weighing in at 9lb 7oz. After his 6lb 12oz big brother, his size was a bit of a shock! Got home yesterday and DS1 has been so fascinated and good with his little brother so really hoping that continues.

Will catch up when I have more time but in the meantime am shaking pom poms for those still waiting.

Jojo1983 · 29/09/2011 11:04

Congratulations Cosmic! Lovely name and a great weigh.

tiddleypompom · 29/09/2011 13:58

Our brand new darling son arrived this morning at just after 4.40am in a bit of a rush. Wilfred George Edward was delivered with help of forceps and mummy shouting (!) but no time for pain relief other than g&a during contractions. I fear my heart will burst with love :)

Will post again when easier to do so. Pom poms waving for those still hanging on - it happened so fast for me. If you can get a small plug in fan I thoroughly recommend it - ward and suite so very hot today.

With love from cloud 9 x
