voodoomunkee · 27/08/2011 08:40

Thanks everyone re chicken pox and immunity, I know all 3 of us have had it so I'm happy to send my dd, just waiting for ex to ring and suddenly tell me he can't have her!
Cep I don't know what's going on with OH and I, we can't seem to hit any common ground. It's very wearing and makes us feel very rubbish. We are also off next week so shall see how we go.
Cookie I am also off to a wedding but I'm not there til the night time do. Last time I was measured (a week and a bit ago) I was 3 cm bigger. MW didn't see an issue. Don't worry if you haven't been to NCT, you would manage no matter what!! Have a good day everyone, I'm going to get a cuppa in peace while I am the only one up!

PamSco · 27/08/2011 08:52

Morning all. I managed to get through the night with only 1 toilet trip even though I had 5 pints of water before going to sleep - trying to flush gallstones.

Kegels are working. Don't forget to do your's ladies!

How inconsistant are these GTTs! No one should be deprived of water, I phoned the surgery to ask before mine and they said water before was fine and the nurse gave me water during. I bet a £1 that dehydration would change the results.

3 day weekend hurray!!!

Sorry. Been ages again. Its wierd. I go from completely compulsive to not checking at all. been working and up north to visit family and enjoying the last of my partner being off for the summer. Hmph. So yes, once again I am well behdind. I started reading it all to catch up but then realised the cursor on the scroll down bar simply wasnt moving and I was more behind that I realised. oops. Time is just going so fast. I am sure my first pregnancy lasted twice as long. So, any major updates? I am sure we are all in varying states of discomfort, preparedness and anxiety. I remain unprepared, increasingly anxious about doing it all again, and with a shifting catalogue of discomforts. Joy.

freeangel · 27/08/2011 15:54

Is there a new thread as no one has posted all day!? Afternoon all, im really sorry ladies but i have been lurking since i last posted back in april! Hmm, that is bad. Congrats to chip Hope shes doing well and getting stronger every day, have to say i did get off my bum and start my hospital bag this week. caz Keep strong over the next few weeks, you have done so well, i read your blog this week! Amazing amount of money you have raised! As much as i have read everyones posts, i really cant rememeber much else! Blush Im team blue here and have my buggy, car seat and way to many vests and babygros already. Pregnancy is going well so far, even though i feel rather lazy these days!

SnoozleDoozle · 27/08/2011 16:28

Have a couple of hours to myself as DD is at a birthday party! For about the past two days she has kept saying 'stay at the party with me!' but once she got there, she wasn't a bit bothered, so I was happy enough to leave her.

I bought my first baby related item this morning, very excited! A set of bottles. I am unable to breastfeed due to breast reduction surgery, or at any rate I am unable to breastfeed exclusively because I just can't make enough milk. Its a shame, but I put myself and DD (and DH for that matter!) through hell last time, thinking that if I just tried hard enough, the milk would come. It didn't, and really, having done my research I have discovered that it was unlikely to, so I am prepared this time.

juststarting · 27/08/2011 18:48

Had a bit more time to read back a little way, though not that far. These GTTs seem harsh. I havent had one, hoping there is no need to. I too would be the one passing out in the bathroom. Sorry about your relationship worries voodoomonkey, its a tough, wierd time for everyone, I hope things resolve so they are less stressfull soon.
I'm feeling lousy thisevening. Just overdone it a bit. Which is lame considering all I have done is gone to the park, play with my son, a bit of internet shopping and some baking with my son and partner, and now I feel sick and tired and I would like not to have a family for a few hours so I can sit in bed with some easy to eat dinner and watch tv with no guilt. I am hoping dinner will help - same old hungry or nausea confusion. ON the plus side, we had a lovely time at the park, and we've been uncannily lucky with the weather today.

chipmonkey · 27/08/2011 23:51

I was sure I posted last night! Confused

Welcome Nells!Grin

Snoozle I think you are not the only one who has put themselves through the mill trying to breastfeed when for one reason or another the milk just wasn't there. I noticed a big difference in my milk supply this time, after having had a massive blood transfusion. Ds3 was born at 32 weeks and I remember I almost immediately was able to produce 80ml of milk for him. With dd, I found myself producing maybe 5ml, then 10ml and it's only with a week of very dedicated expressing and loads of iron tablets that my supply is building up to what it was on ds3. (I am not sure about the others because I just bf them directly.)

Well, dd got "promoted" today from NICU 1 to NICU 2, which is a step down in care. It's a baby step closer to going home although, given her size, she will still be there for weeks.

I was looking at the size of her little mouth and then later at my nipple and was thinking, how on earth is one going to fit into the other? Her mouth is tiny! I think it may be a while before she can latch on!

stripeymummy · 28/08/2011 06:43

Morning! Actually slept til 5.30am (with only 1 night trip to loo), so quite excited :o DH is off hillwalking with friends this weekend, so enjoying the luxury of having the bed to myself and my fort Knox of pillows Wink

chip fab news that Sylvie-Rose had been moved to NICU2, sounds like she's doing really well xx

I also seem to have missed the GTT tests, and after reading about folks experiences I have my fingers crossed that I'll manage to avoid them. Hope everyone has recovered from them.

Modom is def taking up more space, feeling her wriggling much more than I used to. Lay in bed last night with my hand on my belly and could def feel different limbs moving about (though couldn't id them). Another wee jolt of reality Shock

My parents were being fab when they stayed, and are more than happy to 'bugger off' (mum not me) when we come home from hospital so we can get used to being 3 during DH's paternity leave. Though mum will prob come back after to help with cooking and cleaning for a bit, which willbe great. They also bought us a car seat and a bunch of practical baby clothes for hospital - Woop Woop! So feeling v lucky at mo :)

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the bank holiday weekend, or it at least improves if it's not been fab so far
Xx

H007 · 28/08/2011 07:56

chip that is fantastic news, sooooo pleased for you :)

stripey I do hope that's what my mum does, but also a little bit of me wants her to stay and not leave me alone as she knows what she doing and I have no clue haha... I am a bit of a mummy and daddy's girl too which probably doesn't help!

knockedupagain · 28/08/2011 15:37

Chip so pleased that Sylvie-Rose is progressing nicely!
Pam As you're local, can you tell me how much Lucozade am I going to have to swallow? I've been told to bring in a litre, but I'm hoping that that's more than required in case of spillage/ upchucking, so it could be replaced. I feel much less morose about it now that I realise it could have been disgusting gloop. This thread is excellent for encouraging me to count my blessings! I've decided that I'm not going to worry about my low lying placenta either, seeing as worrying won't in any way improve the position and is bad for baby. It's not actually covering my cervix (just very near), and the overwhelmingly likely direction for it to move is up and away, not down. I'm being scanned every two weeks anyway, so no doubt they'll keep an eye on it now.

I'm making progress on the hospital bags... I've ordered a pacapod for Connor's stuff - hard to pack something you don't actually have, so a step in the right direction! I shall write two lists of stuff for him and for me as well, and get it all bought this week. I've washed the light dressing gown I'll be taking (maternity wards very hot places, I seem to recall), and have started wearing a warmer one at home. Call this summer? Brrr!

pookypup · 28/08/2011 15:59

Lovely to hear that Sylvie-Rose is making good progress chip you must be so pleased.

Just been out to buy my pram and feeling very excited and happy now :) We went for a mamas and papas zoom, which is currently on offer for £299 with carry cot. You can get a car seat for £85 reduced too with it (forget the name but it came out well on which safety checks). It was so hard to choose but I think this is really good value - have read concerning reviews on here about m&p customer service but I'm not too worried about getting repairs if needed as I've bought from a local shop who handle repairs and will loan me a replacement. I was really impressed with it - easy to push / fold, looks comfy and has a huge basket underneath (DH helpfully pointed out it was large enough to take a crate of beer Hmm). Was going to spend £599 on a quinny buzz and maxi cozi package but this seems much better, worth checking out :) yay! Buying baby stuff feels good.

Not so good was that yesterday I was in a car crash (nothing too bad) and ended up admitted for monitoring. All is well and I did get to have a snoop around the new Pembury /tunbridge wells labour wards. Midwives were lovely and the birthing pool suite looks amazing. You can sit in the pool facing a huge wall with tropical beach wallpaper on... Hopefully I might be able to use it!

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

PamSco · 28/08/2011 16:02

knockedup I took a 380ml bottle of normal lucozade. They never told me what to bring and we had an old 6 pack out of date but did the job. I had to drink it all, 2 plastic cups.

They let me drink water but I didn't take any as I didn't know I had to hang around.

I was whittering on last night about what do you wear in labour? Somehow, OH couldn't even raise an interested look never mind a suggestion :)

OP posts:
cep · 28/08/2011 16:39

chip so glad Sylvie-Rose is doing so well.

pooky sorry about the crash but glad you're ok.

lktoday5 · 28/08/2011 18:00

hello all - a question ....is anyone else completely knackered again? I dont mean a little, I mean knocked out exhausted? Think i was only up for about 5/6 hours in total yesterday and today we went out for lunch, got bcak at 4 and it was all i could do to crawl to the sofa to crash out again and have just woken up - feels like 1st trimester all over again. Oh, and I had a funny dizzy / faint/ hot turn whilst we were out - is this all normal?

CazandBelle · 28/08/2011 18:44

lk I've been exactly like that for a few weeks now, knackered and taking 3 hour naps most days, dizzy/faint on and off, feeling/being sick on and off and then last week I was told my iron was low - which explains all the yuckiness. I'm on iron tablets now.

Might be worth asking for a blood test.

lktoday5 · 28/08/2011 18:58

thanks caz really appreciate it - i have a mw appt tuesday so will ask x

Poppet45 · 28/08/2011 19:05

Hello my lovelies

lktoday5 · 28/08/2011 19:12

oh my goodness poppet she's beautiful, sending you and your family all the love and supportive thoughts in the world.

Bluetinkerbell · 28/08/2011 19:25

Saw your post on the FB page, she is just lovely! hang on in there!

pookypup · 28/08/2011 19:25

Eeeek! poppet congratulations! How amazing and exciting :) So pleased to hear Willow is doing well. I can't begin to imagine what a surprise that would have been.

juststarting · 28/08/2011 19:42

Poppet, I am sending Willow massive good wishes. The thing about good wishes is there are always more to give, and I am sending them out to Sylvie-Rose too. Amazing babies.
Crappy day here, but comparatively fine. Endeavoured to take a visit to my brother and his family and my grandfather for the first time since getting pregnant but fifteen miles up the road we had a mysterious smoking, noisy, something up with car event. We were flatbed trucked home 7.5 hrs later none the wiser. I fear its new car time, which is a total pain cause we are due to go on holiday on Friday. On the plus side,DS has been a star considering, and we broke down next to a big out of town mothercare so i think I have the bulk of my hospital bag purchases sorted now! But its hard to recall off the top of my head.

MooseyMoo · 28/08/2011 20:10

poppet oh my! Congratulations to you &your DH. Glad willow arrived safe and sound. Hope you bet those cuddles soon.

just if you're going to break down, I can't think of a better place to be near at the moment. Hope there's nothing serious wit your car and you can use it to go on hols.

pooky glad to hear you're fine after car accident.

lk today I have felt extremely tired. In the shower this morning I suddenly had very heavy arms, as if I'd been to the gym yesterday and struggled to finish rinsing. Felt so drained I had to lay on bed until I didn't feel so dizzy. Still have that feeling now. Anyone else?

Folicacid · 28/08/2011 20:56

Jeeeezuz! Poppet you've pressed my unmute buttom after a week of lurking with nae chat. Congratulations to you and family. How scary but so wonderful that wee one is doing well.

You may well be the first person at our Edin/Fife/Perth meets to bring a baby (I hope in a couple of months maybe? or am I totally deluded?) Can't wait to meet Willow.

Well done to you, and wishing you lots of healthy positive thoughts.

Thanks for the photo links too, she looks like a poppet Wink.

Off to seek out some smelling salts for OH. Grin

goldmaple · 28/08/2011 20:58

poppet Congrats! Glad to hear you and Willow are doing well. Hope you get a snuggle soon!

chip glad to hear Sylvie-Rose is doing well enough to be moved. Hope you are getting some cuddles in as well.

knockedupagain · 28/08/2011 21:03

Poppet Congratulations to you and DH and little Willow!! Sending you very good vibes!
