Hope you are all well this morning

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SnoozleDoozle · 13/08/2011 19:01

Mashpot I have not bought a single thing either. And although I have another child, I gave away/sold almost everything. Still have buggy and high chair though, so thats a couple of bigger purchases that I won't need to make.

Folic I feel your pain with names. I made a big list of girls names, and DH vetoed all except one. In fact, he roared with laughter at some of them, and thought I had put them on the list as a joke Blush. And although I love it, I am loathe to use the one we both like because one of my sisters has told me that it would be her name of choice for a baby girl. As for boys names.....I tried to make a list and could only come up with about three, although at least one of them was one that we both like. But although I like it, I'm not sure if I love it.....

neverinamillionyears · 13/08/2011 20:42

alicat I made this one www.goodtoknow.co.uk/recipes/517708/simple-carrot-cake and it was very very nice. It looks like you are putting a mountain of carrot in but trust me it is really good. I did add a bit more cinnamon in that stated as I felt it just need a bit extra. I just cocked up with the frosting. I used the exact recipe here and it went runny. yuk. Thanks to all those that gave the tips about the icing. You wouldn't think that adding too much powder (icing sugar) would make it runny. Anyhoo, enjoy the recipe it is lush.

Folic you crack me up, the big groan/belly rub you mentioned made me grin so thank you for making me smile.

I'm finding it difficult to bed in the middle now and huff and puff like the big bad wolf quite a lot now. Thanks to all re: comments on nursing chair, thinking of going for one called Sereno, it has good reviews on amazon.

Started making the headboard for our bed today, 5ft x 3.5ft so it's quite large. I've managed to stick the foam to the board and drill the holes for the buttons to go through. Hopefully this will turn out ok. I am not the most creative person and I am absolutely dire when it comes to making things but if nothing else I'm bloody determined. It will not beat me! Grin

Back at work tomorrow...boo, but on a good note my MIL is holding a very small gathering to celebrate DP and I engagement (Feb) and baby. Just my immediate family and his but will be nice hopefully. I'll also get a chance to look at all the gorgeous hand knitted stuff that she has done. She has a whole box load in varying colours as we are team yellow.

Blimey, a long post. Oh and I am comforted to hear that a lot of you are catching up on the weight front, I put on about 1st 7lb by about 20 weeks. I thought I was just being a complete bloater. sorry I'm so evil [evil] mwah har har haaaaarrrrr

Staceroo · 13/08/2011 21:18

cookie I to am struggling the same! Feeling very tired and heavy all the time, and get an aching at the top of my legs!

Folic with you on the boob front! Mine have been like that for a couple of months though!

And re names, our shortlist keps changing, now have Florence, Jessie or our latest additions Tilly! But since adding tilly dh has decided we're keeping names secret from family now, as we don't want their reactions to put us off!

Officially 3rd trimester today! Woo!!!

Had a tough day though, went to the Millenium Stadium to watch the rugby, which involved lots of walking and lots of standing around in bars before and after! My legs and ankles were really aching!

On the bright side! I did meet Will Greenwood! Got a lovely picture with him to! :-D

Lazy day tomorrow!

Folicacid · 13/08/2011 21:26

Well I've chipped one nail. Not sure why I decided today was the day I would empty out wardrobe in baby's room so that it can be picked up by friend who is taking it- I hope and pray next week-?

Mr FA is out with friends since 12.30 today, just phoned and sounded 1. totally pished 2. in the slight huff that my mum had been round helping by painting windows. Whadcanyado...

never uuuuuuaaaaaah. Wink Lovin the making a headboard chat. This is something I have thought a lot about but have never got off arse to actually do. Despite looking for suitable material and checking out how to details on housey blogs. How have you found it so far? Details please, difficult easy?

What is it with boys names that makes them so difficult? is it because in the main they are 'boring'?

Folicacid · 13/08/2011 21:28

Yaay stacey another tube boob!

H007 · 13/08/2011 22:49

yes never I too want all the details on your headboard as I am thinking of doing this, can't really afford to buy one for our new bed. Also make sure you show us pics :)

cookie9 · 14/08/2011 06:54

My lovely dad has made a great job of the DIY we needed. Took him out for early birthday meal last night as a thank you. Wore the dress I am planning to wear to a wedding in two weeks. From the front look a bit pregnant but nice then made major error of turning to the side OMG I look massive ....a bright pink elephant. I know the other best man's wife is pregnant too so hoping she is big as well. Blush
maternity bras are digging into me now so I think I need one with same cup size but bigger band.

Keep the recipes coming please.

Snooze - hope the birthday party went well

Mash pot - toe nail painting and leg shaving now left to my dh as too hard to bend down.

Never - v impressed with the head board making. Can almost forgive you your evil laugh! :)

alicat10 · 14/08/2011 09:04

Thanks never - have loads of carrots so might try it later...

Folicacid · 14/08/2011 09:23

Mownin...what am I missing over on facebook?

PamSco · 14/08/2011 09:25

In general or mumsnet related?

OP posts:
stripeymummy · 14/08/2011 09:35

Argh!! Another disturbed night :( Woken up at 5am feeling like pelvis was disintergrating. Had a total panic as my lower abdomen felt as if it was on fire and throbbing, and the whole of my nether regions feel like I've been repeatedly booted up the a**e, worried it was premature labour. But wasn't, took some paracetamol and that really helped. Managed to sleep til 8.30am :)

Oo, re the cake discussion: does anyone have a good recipe for chocolate cake? I'm meant to be experimenting. Something moist and not too heavy. My MIL makes a vg choc and guiness cake (a nigella me thinks) but I'm looking for something more traditional. Yikes, it's not going to help the waist line. Think I might succumb to getting on the scales today Hmm

Folicacid · 14/08/2011 09:39

Pam on the mumsnet thread scene. I'm on FB in the normal life and too scared to start mixing them. I get a bit paranoid!

stripey that wean is giving you some gyp! Glad that paracetemol worked. How are you feeling now?

PamSco · 14/08/2011 09:50

Folic I'm the same. I wasn't sure if joining the FB mumsnet group opened up my profile to everyone. I have some reticence about merging everything into one.

No offence to anyone here but I have a lot of personal stuff on FB.

OP posts:
Folicacid · 14/08/2011 09:56

Me too, but keep wondering if I'm missing out. What is it my gran says 'cannae see green cheese'?!

I suppose we could always set up Mumsnet profile facebook accounts but that may be a pain in the bum logging in and out. I can manage multiple accounts on twitter using tweetdeck, I'm sure could perhaps do that with other social media. This is an example of why Google + has its merits as you can have your different contacts in different clusters so to only reveal what you would like to certain people. I also don't have work contacts on my FB for the same reason. I keep it just to friends.

Staceroo · 14/08/2011 10:16

Folic & Pam, if it would make you feel better you only have to have one of us as a facebook 'friend' to invite you to the group and then only that one person would be able to see your profile. Your normal privacy settings will apply then for the rest of the group. And none of your actual friends could see anything that goes on the MN group, they wouldn't even know it existed. If you want me to add you and promise not to nosy at your profiles I will, just send me a pm with your face book name and tell me what your profile pic looks like so i can find you. If not the seperate profile is a good idea! Sort of wish I'd thought of doing that!

But don't feel your missing too much, mostly just the posting of pictures, bumps and scans etc!

I'm excited because I've just ordered our pushchair and carry cot! The Quinny Speedy SX and dreami carrycot from boots. 25% off so £307, plus £30 quids worth of advantage points and 10% cashback, so I make that £246! Bargain! Also goin to get the cabriofix carseat but not so desperate to get that now as that wasn't in the same offer.

Next big purchase is the furniture, whcih we're getting on DH's payday at the end of the month as he has a big bonus coming in! Yay!

Was up at 7:30 this morning doing housework! Crazy lady!

alicat10 · 14/08/2011 10:58

Can anyone remember if choc banana cake recipe was on this thread or last?

smilingcl · 14/08/2011 11:27

Hello Ladies,

Looks like we're well and truly into the 3rd trimester, makes me happy to read that your gripes are the same as mine!

Boobs - no veins here, not even any bigger disappointingly but I am developing mysterious slightly crusty nipples. Nice.

The punani ache/spd doesn't seem to have got any worse, my hips really hurt in the morning from sleeping on my side, and turning to the other side is painful but in the day it tends to fade away unless I walk around too much.

Weight wise I've gone from 60 to 68kg, it seems to be getting faster recently, but my tummy is inflating ahead of the weight gain, everyone I see is like 'wow you're massive now, when's it due?!' Brilliant. It doesn't really bother me, I just hope they'll stop commenting after the birth :)

Our house is a tip, our last housemate is moving out this weekend and coz we're redoing electrics, carpet & wooden floor, kitchen, painting everything etc, we've just boxed up our posessions and stopped hoovering. Have to keep our shoes on but it'll be worth it in the end (I hope). DP is doing loads of the work. That's stressing me out slightly as he's learning as he goes...

Your baking recipes sound amazing, I'm too lazy to bake, just want to eat them...!

Missyraines · 14/08/2011 12:41

Hi all
Anyone thinking of going to the baby show in London? www.thebabyshow.co.uk/
It's on 28 - 30 Oct which is very near November so we'll all be huge blooming nicely!
Don't know if it's worth it or would just be an excuse for companies trying to flog you stuff you don't need? Anyone been to one before?

H007 · 14/08/2011 15:18

alicat it's the first page of this thread :)

alicat10 · 14/08/2011 16:19

Thanks H007 - have cut and paste it into an email so i won't lose it again :)

jamama · 14/08/2011 17:58

Flying by for one of my irregular 'hello's, am still keeping an eye on things, glad to hear that lots of you are doing well, including caz.
No stretch marks here yet, although have been endlessly told I don't look as pregnant as I am (I was starting to get a little bit disheartened that perhaps I was making a tiny one Sad, until a qualified Dr at my work said nonsense, don't listen, your fundus is exactly where it should be). Have been using belli massage oil and Burt's bees mama bee since early on, but sincerely doubt that either has any magical properties; I'm older (34), and this is meant to be a factor - plenty of stretch marks from juvenile growth spurts.
Have put on a ton of weight (I think about 18lbs), more in 1st trimester than later on, but am trying not to worry about this - there is plenty of time to diet once baby gets here.
SPD, have my tubigrip, actually find it pretty annoying as it keeps rolling up, making the bottom of bump feel uncomfortable (and they only gave me one - which seems a bit blee as it will need washing at least once every few days), but looking online it seems like you can't just order the torso sized stuff. Am still swimming and aquanataling, cycling have tried having a week off to see how that helped (hasn't), so will see if I can get into any cycling clothes and still balance tomorrow as it saves me loads of time if it isn't having a negative impact.
Have finally ordered pram and carseat today after much procrastination, and will be clearing baby's room this week so that we can fill the cracks and repaint.

Had a bad week - after camping last weekend and then deciding that the sheep in the field must have toxo , I didn't feel much movement on Friday, to the point where I was thinking of calling MAU; finally did have a flurry but was scared. Now think baby had moved into transverse from usual ceph position and has now gone back - plenty of pokes, kicks etc today.
Finally, am thinking of visiting babyshow in Manchester next month, if any of the Manc-region ladies were up for this I'd be interested in a mini-meetup, if nothing else to discourage me from buying unnecessary crap (I have a pathological aversion to all things Trafford Centre, but do like central Manc).
Sorry for the mega-post!

stripeymummy · 14/08/2011 18:12

Folic, I've been limping about the house all day, and trying to 'help' DH with cleaning (I have been holding the dust pan and brush in between uses Wink).

Starting to feel the weight now. I succumbed and got on the scales this morning and really really wished I hadn't - I've put on 2st!!! Shock Blush Though I have noticed the last few days that my stomach must be getting squashed, as I can't eat as much as normal - perhaps that will help stave off too much extra weight gain on the final strait Hmm

Re the FB stuff. Also on FB, but am very funny about who I am/am not friends with (why I've only got c70 rather than 100s), and would rather keep them separate. I'm not a great poster on FB anyhoo, more of a stalker :o

smiling yup, I will also join the veiny/crusty nipples club :) Hey only 3 more months to go!

alicat10 · 14/08/2011 19:27

OMG just weighed myself and put on 2st 5 - ridiculous, more than I've put on at term with previous 2 pg :( only thing I can think of is that I have been way more tired this time and eating sweet stuff to compensate. Looks like this time next year I'll be back on weightwatchers....

Had big lie in today then did a load of cleaning - mainly squeezed between coffee table and radiator cos that's a sensible thing to do when you're the size of a bus! Also pushed something sideways with my foot and got excruciating pain around pubic bone :( that's Friday's chiro treatment down the drain.

Apart from all that I've had a lovely day, enjoying warm weather and off out for dinner with the ante-natal mummies from pg1 yay

Poppet45 · 14/08/2011 19:38

jamama I cycled up to seven and a bit months with DS and found it much, much easier than walking by that stage, and particularly easy on the hips and pelvis. But be careful if you haven't done it for a while as your centre of balance will have changed. You'll also get white van men driving past you going 'you're pregnant!!!' and other words of wisdom.
Am loving all the recipes, but mainly they're making me want to eat not bake cake!
names Argh! DH is driving me mad with them. Last time round he made a short list and I picked the first name, he had a special request for the second name, and um we got a bit carried away and picked a third name after his dad.
This time I'm doing the short list - he finds every one hilarious (I'll admit I like unusual names like Kitty and Nell), apart from one which was our first choice last time if DS had been a girl, but which I'm not so fussed about anymore. Plus my cousin used it for his daughter last year so I don't think it's on. Something he disagrees with as we never see my cousin more than once every few years. Imogen.... it's nice, but I don't love it like my DH does.

voodoomunkee · 14/08/2011 22:06

Evening all. Not been about much this weekend, sure there has been a reason but not entirely sure what as I feel a bit dazed that it is once again Sunday evening and I have to go to work tomorrow :( Sob. Hope everyone is canny. We have decided on a name but it is strictly hush hush and I bet we change our minds last second!

Ah just remembered what have been up to this weekend.... OH had interviews. Both went fine and he is definitely keener on one than the other so if you lovely ladies and bumps could be kind enough to cross fingers and toes that he gets it I would be eternally thankful!

Am off to a shopping trip after work tomorrow - what started off as DD and I is now OH, DS and DD and I. OH didnt want to be left out, DS has some money to spend and DD has been instrumental in its organisation. Quite looking forward to it and may feel like I could be persuaded to treat the kids and the adults to Pizza Hut or something. Happy days!

Off to try and attempt to get comfortable enough to sleep.... Night all!
