Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

Sounds like lots of good plans for the week.

Wrt names, we went for one that we loved, but didnt know anybody else with that name for our first (Struan) and a more well know but not that common for our second (Angus), so havr had more trouble trying to find ones that are not too overly Scottish (we've had many many people saying that we are bound to choose Hamish this time) as it may be a bit cliched, but we like Scottish names, so want it to fit with the others. Anyway, think we have a few that we like, but woukd love to narrow it down before the lo actually appears.

I think unusual can be really good, and peope very soon get used to it, and forget what it was like before they knew someone with that name. We still have a few that havent heard of Struan before, but its more common further north (we are now in Glasgow) where I am from.

100years, I didn't get my walk on the beach yet - rained all day and then today has been too windy. Hopefully tomorrow will be more beach-friendly, I don't need sunshine just no rain and a lack of gales.

Welcome to the thread Cake :)

Conker, we have fixed on a name which people keep trying to get out of us. We're keeping it secret until DD is born after lots of questioning over DS's name first time around.

Sorry I can't mention everyone, on my phone and my battery is about to run out.

jimmijam · 28/08/2011 22:13

woop woop, all day on wiping have found some gloop, but had thought it may be left overs from last nights fun Blush then a few mins ago, some pink followed my more gloop. woohoo think i just had a show :-) (with dd had 1 about a week b4 she was born, with ds the morning i went into labour, so any day...)
have any of you had a show 'yet'?
100year haha 2 wearing out the carpet :-)
conkertree glad the kilts r keeping u busy! i like the name Hamish!
we have a middle name picked out, after my grandad- eric 4 a boy, erica for a girl. we have a girls 1st name but no 1st name 4 a boy. with dd we only had a girls name picked out 2, so perhaps it means something? also the fact dd was back 2 back and so is this little un (giving me bad back ache this eve). hoping if LO is a boy we'll c him and say "you look like a ..x.."

agree with ur tips there ssmile!! will b at a different hospital this time but with our 1st dh was offered meals during labour and able 2 go 2 canteen during visits, but i was greatful for all the grapes, biscuits and chocs friends brought me when they visited (were in hospital 4 4 days as cs). 17months later in same hospital food was hard 2 come by, and we were only in there 4 a day or so.
this time around i have packed cereal bars, dried apricots and some chocolate 4 snacks 4 us, lucozade 2 keep me going (student mw suggested it), red bull for dh and hot choc powder incase of another cs so i can chill a bit in evenings. hope that helps a few 1st timers on here. ooh and a puzzle book and pen 2 keep me entertained as i dont fancy paying so much money 2 watch tv at the bed!

cakeismysaviour · 28/08/2011 22:14

Sorry for being so grumpy everyone, I had a bit of a cry this evening and DP was so lovely, bless him. I feel a bit more cheerful now, and I am determined to work through these pains and not let them bring me down. Beach walks sound great CBear6, I actually live on a seafront and I hardly ever walk on the beach - shocking really! Think I will drag DP down to the beach tommorrow.

jimmijam · 28/08/2011 22:22

sounds like a plan cake, went 4 a little walk along the beach this afternoon as there was an event on, but because of all the rain the sand was flat and much easier to walk on, so prob doesnt count as being labour inducing. was lovely and relaxing tho in the sunshine (and cold wind) :-) hope it relaxes u 2 xx

CBear6 · 28/08/2011 22:46

I'm thinking of packing DH and DS up and hitting the beach with the kite we bought DS, he loves kites but hasn't flown on yet. I'll probably get lots of waddling jogging on the sand because DS always makes a beeline for any sort of water in his immediate vicinity, ditto dogs.

Yay for your show Jimmijam! I got mine with DS and went into labour that night, fingers crossed it won't be long now! Sex must have worked then Wink. I'm trying to talk DH into it, it's been off the menu for a few weeks and tried last night but between me getting one of my (now nightly) leg cramps, DH getting freaked at baby kicking him, trying to find a good position, and then almost falling off the bed it was like an adults only version of You've Been Framed. Beginning to think it's a miracle I got pregnant in the first place!

DD's middle name will be Joan after my Nana, keeping her first name zipped though :) I wanted something to go after Joan and really like Rosie but SIL is planning Rose as a middle name if she has a girl and after all the palaver of us "nicking" DS's name from her I can't be bothered doing it again. I quite like Scarlett too so might have that. DS has an animal as one of his middle names and DH wanted to do that again but I think it was a one off thing.

jimmijam · 28/08/2011 22:52

scarletts a nice name. ds and dd have quite modern names, so if we went 4 something traditional it qouldnt quite go :-/ ds 's 1st name is a place so ppl keep suggesting place names, didnt choice his name 4 the meaning tho (and no, he wasnt concieved there)
haha, dont tell dh wot u want the sex 4 (tho it was good ;-) ), lying kinds next 2 each other works quite well, or if he's paranoid of baby perhaps a bit of doggy?!
well worth a trip 2 beach! cant remember who 1st suggested it but its a good un, if only 2 keep dc's entertained and relax and have fun- isnt it fab seeing the smiles on their faces!

sebs71 · 28/08/2011 22:55

Ok sticking with the positive posts to try and lift spirits!! Had lovely day - dp, the dog and I went out for long ride - took in the mountains and seaside and had fish and chips - followed swiftly by some gaviscon!! So nice to get out of the house. And BHs not too bad tonight so hoping for better sleep.

Have got middle name picked (after my mum but a welsh version) and a shortlist for the first name... But waiting to meet her to pick the final choice.

No, haven't had a 'show' yet, jimmijam - exciting if your's means something imminent!!

Right sorry guys eyes drooping to try and reply to everyone, so will post again tomorrow ... Night all hope you all get some sleep - despite any zombie walks to the loo!!

ssmile · 29/08/2011 10:49

Feels odd posting on her as I've entered into the "other side " of hourly feeds, no sleep and cracked nips& pumps. I am going to start another thread to see who else out there have days old babes but will be lurking &cheering you all on in spirit

We've called our little girl poppy, my DH choice from the 12wk scan when he convinced it was a girl :) in my sleep deprived state I've accidentally called her by my 1st DD name couple times Blush

tiddleypompom · 29/08/2011 12:47

Poppy is a gorgeous name ssmile - love it!

sebs your home sounds beautiful - fancy being surrounded by mountains and a coast to walk, that has to be good for the soul...

Nothing to report, just a quick hi, and handshake to jimmi for progress to date. Keep on keepin' on ladies...

MrsSawyer · 29/08/2011 13:21

nothing to blooming report here either! No show, no BH, no nothing! Lots of pressure and a kind of dragging sensation, but nothing exciting. Taking DH and DS1 bowling this afternoon, though i might just sit with a slush puppy and watch. Going for my last diabetic clinic appt tomorrow, so not a scan, but they're going to have a (external) feel and make sure hes still laying the right way, then mw coming on thurs for the "not very gentle but very effective" sweep, so hoping that works and DS2 is here before long - eep!

100years · 29/08/2011 14:58

Hey everyone. :)

No show here yet - boo never mind it'll happen when ready.

Poppy is a lovely name.

We also aren't telling people the name we have picked much to a screeched up face from my mum when I said we weren't saying. We have told people it's a girl and other info but want to keep some things till afterwards and also don't want any raised eyebrow I people don't like it.

News from me including some TMI: had a poo last night (that's the tmi bit) which then set off a painful bh, kept on getting bh all night one even woke me up. All fizzled out this morning after I'd got up and had a shower. Have been out to the shops and then a sleep on the settee. Just back to ordinary bh now. I thought last night at 3ish oooh it's still going on maybe, but nada this morning an like I said no show. Bit more upbeat today, despite pains through the night managed to sleep off and on till 8 with the wakings only being fairly short in comparison to the last few nights.

Bought some purple hair dye and although I'd like to go back to my natural colour I want something nice at the moment. Think hairdressers on Thursday or Friday will be booked for a decent trim so it's real easy to manage when LO is proper small then start and grow it after that. Unless she turns up sooner :)

Back to lazy day now :)

Hi ladies, am joining you from the august thread...was due yesterday from scan dates but 2nd sept from my dates so will probably go on for a few days yet., hope you don't mind me lurking (and probably moaning the more overdue I go!)

Have had a couple of weeks of getting myself all excited thinking somethings happening and then it doesn't...I'm not too uncomfortable generally so I don't mind hanging on a few days to qualify for the new school year but at the same time I'm totally bricking labour and want to meet DS so equally happy for it to happen RIGHT NOW!!!
Xx

jimmijam · 29/08/2011 16:10

Dyed my hair a few days ago too (red) but as i usually dye it a similar colour noones noticed- not even dh!!
Ah, was getting excited reading the start of ur post 100 !! Hopefuly it'll soon lead 2 something more..
Have read that some ppl dont notice wen theyve had a show, others dont get 1 til theyre in labour so prob not worth thinking 2 much anbout. Is exciting if/ wen u do get 1 tho :-)
Spent some of this morning ironing name tags into dds school uniform. 16 items each ironed in 3 times b4 actully ironing the clothing. Hope the bloody things stay in now!
Now have urge to clean house and mop kitchen floor , but the kids have just nrought in a load of apples from the garden. Its juice time :-)

jimmijam · 29/08/2011 16:12

Haha annie. Know exactly wot u mean, how have u bbeen managing 2 distract yourself?! Good 2 hear ur doing ok. Will this b ur 1st?

Annie456 · 29/08/2011 16:29

yep this is my first Grin
Ive been on mat. leave for 6 weeks now so starting to get a bit bored!! Also got a horrible cold so i wont be able to get out and see any of my NCT buddies and their babies this week....grrrr!
I've cleaned the house from top to bottom, sorted and re-sorted every drawer and cupboard, there are meals in the freezer, my bags are packed, the nursery is ready and i've even started walking around the house with sandpaper and a tin of gloss paint touching up all the paintwork....I am ready!!!!! My period-pain has picked up in the past couple of days but its not constant, just comes and goes. I'm pretty sure the baby is well engaged as I have that dragging feeling with occasional sharp pains 'down there'...I don't expect my waters to break or to lose my plug as my mum didnt with any of hers so just waiting for the contractions...waiting SUCKS!!!

tiddleypompom · 29/08/2011 16:54

welcome from the August thread - we'll look after you! I am also super-organised (think this may be the privilege of us 1st time mums!) but I have weeks to go (36+4), so trying very hard to occupy myself and stave off the impatience for a little longer...

100years I am thinking you'll not be waiting for much longer... :)

Very much looking forward to my scan now - tomorrow late pm - and just getting to see LO again and find our the position, and know one way or another whether it'll be a section or a natural delivery.

Meantime DH is eating very well as cooking is the only thing left for me to do that doesn't involve sitting on my bum!

jimmi enjoy your juice - I am accepting all offers of windfall apples and pears (and anything else for that matter). Nothing at all more satisfying than preparing and eating freshly harvested veg and fruit that cost nothing at all - except perhaps birthing your baby after 9 long months of gestation...but then how would I know...

yet!! :o

100years · 29/08/2011 17:57

Hi Annie. Welcome to the thread :) I've done some moaning already and am not overdue yet so feel free to moan away. We're a lovely bunch in here - except me I'm pure evil Wink

Jimmi yeah I'm not pinning everything on having a show but it would be nice to have some indication it's all goig on in there. Noticed a weird click last night at my first big bh thought my waters were going to go but mut have just been some oddity. Sorry I got you all excited, us preggers ladies need to stay as calm as possible :)

Tp I'm hoping you are right. Big fingers crossed everything is ok in the scan tomorrow x

Annie sayin about her dates v the scan dates, wouldn't worry too much, my friend was due on 31st aug had baby on sat and her dates put her due around the 4th sept so it's all a rough science. My scan date is earlier than my 'lmp' date but that's fine by me, means I have less of a wait if LO decides to stay put too long :)

Sewmuchtodo · 29/08/2011 18:05

Jimmijam, your post about show or leftover fun made me giggle! Any more news yet?

Poppy is a lovely name Ssmile, are you guys home yet?

Well DH goes back to work on Turs so he is hoping for a Wed night/Thurs morning kick off here......as if 6wks off isnt long enough!

ssmile · 29/08/2011 19:42

Hi I've set up a post natal chat thread for Sept EDD babies hope some of you will soon be joining me I can't link on my phone so maybe someone clever could do that?

Yes we are home. MW been baby lost 10% weight as I really struggling with BF again but have a plan so will struggle on as milk coming in now so hopefully get easier.

Good luck all I await in anticipation :) x

jimmijam · 29/08/2011 20:02

Ah ssmile. This may sound silly but from memory dont all/most babies lose weight and take a week or 2 2 get back up 2 birth weight?
Im sure u'll grt soryed with bf soon, hoping ur getting plenty of support x

100years · 29/08/2011 20:04

Post natal thread is there, as requested I've linked to it. :)(although does that mean I think I'm clever? Fingers crossed you aren't lonely in there for long Ssmile, I've put it in my watch list so I'll be able to find it when I need to :) And hopefully LO will be a bit easier to feed now. Glad you are home.

OP posts:
feralgirl · 29/08/2011 20:07

Hi ssmile. Poppy is a gorgeous name; if we have a girl she'll be Polly, so very similar. Sorry to hear the BFing is tough going though, hope you're getting lots of support from MWs and HVs? And as much rest (and cake) as poss?

WRT names, I really wish that we hadn't shared all our boy's name ideas with family as there isn't a single one that they have unanimously liked and all it takes is one negative reaction from someone whose opinion I value to really put me off.

We're just going to have to wait until (s)he arrives to make a final decision I think, and then announce it as a fait accompli. We never had this with DS because, when asked, we would always say "he'll be named after his late grandfather" which meant that no one was ever rude enough to say "oh no, that's a terrible name" the way they have this time!

I'm actually feeling reasonably comfortable atm. I've kind of forgotten that there's a baby in there that's going to come out imminently as I've just been waiting for so long now. Although we went to our local Fish Festival (it's a Cornish thing!) today and I did get a bit more annoyed than I would usually with rude people shoving me out of the way!

cakeismysaviour · 29/08/2011 20:55

Hi everyone. hope you are all well. Lovely name ssmile, very pretty!

I have had such a lovely day today, started the day with yet more cleaning including all the skirting boards! We then went out for the beach walk that I had planned and we had a little look around the shops nearby and bought a couple more things for the baby. Grin

Then we went back home, and the owner of the shop that we live above stopped us as we were going inside and told us to come into the back of her shop where she showed me a drawer unit with baskets that her husband has made for the baby's room! It was such a surprise and it is absolutely beautiful, her husband is a very talented furniture maker! She also told me that when the baby is born and she knows whether it is a girl or boy, she will line the baskets in some of the material from her shop. I am so so touched at the effort they have both gone to.

We had tea at one of our favourite restaurants and I am now relaxing on the sofa after a nice bath. I feel very tired, but very spoiled!

jimmijam · 29/08/2011 21:00

cake what a fantastic day you've had!!!
some ppl can b really touching, what a lovely suprise 4 u both :-)
