Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

Well done feragirl. I wouldnt have known but dh was quite happy 2 tell me-with ds and dd!
Freezer stress!!!!!!! Good job ur sil hadroom in her freezer :-)
going 2 bravve the rain and head 2 shops 2 get ds shoes fitting and get some hair dye as it may not b practical 2 do 4 a while, would b dripping it over newborn!
Mmm ice cream :-) i feel a tub of ben and jerrys coming on...

ssmile · 24/08/2011 15:23

I switched to Ben&jerrys frozen yogurt last 2wks the fish food and chocolate brownie ones are yum, a vain attempt at slowing the size of my bum growin in the last 2wks of diminished activity and increased food intake.

Had burst of energy this morn post scrambled eggs. Decided to sugar soap scrub &clean hallway. I figure if DH is determined to paint it tom at least if I do the prep I increase the chance of the job being finished before babe arrives. Followed this by an hrs nap which was relaxing. Was supposed to have made chilli but just realised the time and have to go get DD opps!

For those who may end up having C-sec and feeling left out of the poo chat I remember MW asking me if I had "opened my bowls yet?" Post op, I replied "my god the biggest I've ever done wouldn't flush!" Blush needless to say they let me go later that day :o had passed the test ....

feralgirl · 24/08/2011 15:40

Although I am quite proud of not having pooed in front of a room full of people, my body did...er...'expel' everything it could at the beginning of labour - both top and bottom iyswim - before we went to hospital which was very unpleasant!

tiddleypompom · 24/08/2011 16:06

I leave you all for a few hours and the conversation gets to poo . My mum mentioned the castor oil technique of encouraging labour, but ref: water births this isn't recommended. The sieve isn't much good, if you know what I mean... Shock

100years I hope your last scan went well and your BP wasn't affected by defrosting freezer? Bad luck.

I am so much more easily upset by things as the days progress - pretty mundane happenings have the ability to reduce me to a useless wreck. e.g. was showing mum new stroller in boot of car and suddenly van came down road too fast, almost running over our cat, who was making her way across the road to say hello. Cue 2 hour worry and imaginings of poor squashed cat and what I would do without her etc etc. Boo hoo!

sebs yep I also have a hiccup-y baby. Weird isn't it? I do feel a little sorry for the poor thing, as having hiccups really irritates me! No real BH to speak of though. Makes me think I've ages to go, sigh...

sebs71 · 24/08/2011 16:24

Conversation had to get to poo eventually!! Grin

Ooh, glad the cat has 9 lives then!! Phew that she's ok...

Jealous... got no Ben & Jerry's in the freezer... jam tarts will have to do :)

Not sure if BH are a sign of impending labour just yet???

lalambev · 24/08/2011 17:01

hi there ladies, just thought I would introduce myself, I've been lurking on here for a while now, due on 4th Sept, first baby. Am into my fourth week of maternity leave now and am going slightly mad!! Grin just bouncin on my birthing ball at the mo, at last antenatal appt LO was 3/5ths engaged , so just trying to encourage it downwards some more, definately feels like it's working tho!! Smile

tiddleypompom · 24/08/2011 17:12

Hello and welcome along lalambev! Very brave of you to join us just as we're getting into the poo chat (post placenta-salting). Sounds like you may not be with us too long mind you - yet another before me ...

Get yourself comfy and have a cuppa - raspberry obviously.

sebs the cat is probably down to 8 lives at the most. And if she drags another chicken off the kitchen sideboard (I kid you not) she will have 7 :o

Mmm....jam tarts....

jimmijam · 24/08/2011 17:14

Haha yes something else id 4gotten, wen i was ready 2 push out ds i was escorted 2 bathroom 4 a wee by dh and mw, halfway there i did quite possibly the longest and loudest fart :-o they laughed i wanted 2 cry, as soon as we reached the toilet i threw up, sat down 4 a wee and told them 2 leave me 2 go by myself but they wouldnt and stood watching me wee. Prob sounds quite scary 2 1st timers, but mw had prob seen it all a thousand timez, and compared 2 the mesd of giving birth i dont think dh cared :-)

Nooo i 4got 2 buy ben and jerrys :-( did however get ds new shoes, dd her prize 4 swimming by herself and myself a nice thick winter coat (tho had 2 get lady in shop 2 try it on 4 me cuz it wouldnt fit over bump)- bargain in sale, was £119,.got it in sale 4 £37ish :-D cant wait 2 b able 2 wear is

jimmijam · 24/08/2011 17:16

Prob a good job the shop was b4 2moros payday and me actually seeing how little money i'll b getting on maternity leave!!

BumpyHeffalumpy · 24/08/2011 17:16

Local Tesco was doing Haagen Dazs half price, so I bought 4 tubs and finished one all by myself. Now LO is hyper from all the sugar.

feralgirl · 24/08/2011 17:48

Shock at being watched weeing by MW jimmi. There was a loo adjacent to my room at hospital with DS but fortunately it was too small for anyone besides me so they just told me to shout if I needed them! I did have to share it with the room next to mine which meant that I could hear the blood-curdling screams from the woman next door as I was peeing which didn't fill me with confidence.

tiddly, my cat spends more time sitting in the road outside our house than anywhere else. I have been known to cover DS's eyes as she wandered in front of a car as I was certain that she was going to get splatted and I didn't want him to see!

We are off out for burny-hot Thai curry this evening. I am very excited. And now I think I am going to have to have ice cream for pud'n as well Grin

100years · 24/08/2011 18:01

Re the poo thing, my sister didn't poo in labour with either of her births :) So it's not guaranteed.

Fridge freezer situation, waiting on someone coming out to fix it, this afternoon it's decided to half freeze up and not refrigerate, not sure what's going on with it, but it's not right.

Went to the hospital, LO is scanned and guestimated at 7lb5, although her head was/is very low so whether the measurement was right I'm not 100% sure. Then went through for the antenatal app and sat there, and sat there and sat there, ended up going and asking what was going on, bearing in mind I was supposed to have had the first app of the afternoon, they had lost my notes, or rather sent the wrong ones through or something like that, so ended up being there over an hour later than should have been :( Just felt quite stressed about the whole thing, headache, freezer, running late, knowing the electrical people could be at ours any time after 3 and we wouldn't be back in time, ended up crying when they said my notes weren't there. Fortunately my BP was fine 124/68 so no worries :)

Feeling really glum now though, want to go to bed and wake up tomorrow being a new fresh day.

I am of course still loving the blue poo story :)

No cabin fever for me so far, I quite like being off work able to chill out, and have done a few things out and about.

:( our lollies - nice solero ones and mango smoothie ones were part of the non surviving freezer items :( Boo no more ice cream talk Wink

Tiddley, sorry about your cat incident, glad it wasn't hit though.

Welcome lalambev. Birthing ball bouncing is good. :)

Having the chicken pie I made the other day that was supposed to have been frozen, made 2 lots of filling for the pie, one for the other night, one for frozen for when LO gets here. So we are having the second portion of it as it won't last without being frozen, thankfully I put it in OH's sis (future SIL) fridge for the day. OH has just arrived home with it.

I'm sure I'll be more cheerful tomorrow, or if not I'll start thinking that I'm fed up with being pregnant and start willing LO out!

Conkertree · 24/08/2011 18:11

Ooh thai curry sounds nice feralgirl. Not to be too obsessed with poo, but its what put me off trying hot curry for getting labour started. Impressed you had evacuated it all by the time you reached hospital.

All i remember about peeing during labour was being so annoyed at being separated from my new best friend (the gas and air) while going to the bathroom.

Noticed ben and jerrys is on half price at tescos just now, so may have to make a trip in the morning. Have a bar of cadbury's caramel to look forward to tonight. Am trying to organise my kilts properly so that if I go into labour early (probably fat chance), someone else can send them out, but once thats done, chocolate is beckoning.

Does anyone else run their own business, and if so, are you planning to take maternity leave? Finding it hard to decide when to start when orders are still coming in, and dont want to turn down business, but alsp want a bit of a break when a new born is present.

Conkertree · 24/08/2011 18:13

Sounds like a rubbish day 100years, but its nearly over and you have lovely chicken pie to enjoy now. Sure tomorrow will be better.

tiddleypompom · 24/08/2011 18:30

Am making thai curry, thanks for inspiration feral....

tiddleypompom · 24/08/2011 18:33

100years have a biscuit, a sit down, and deep breath ('imagine a golden light' natal-hypno type thing) and cuddle from DP. Repeat after me 'tomorrow is a brand new, shiny new day'...

:)

ssmile · 24/08/2011 19:40

100yrs hope u have gd nights sleep and it all looks better in the morn sending u big hugs [**]

My DD has gone down with a chest cough &cold not great timing she been getting cough last couple days but really hit now. Poor mite hope she be alright as going to grandPs for thurs &fri night, as I have to be at hospital for 8am and expect it to be a long day. Hoping I don't get the cold now as usually I get it next then DH is the pattern in our hse :(

Just finished my B&J frozen chocolate brownie yogurt was yum (had chilli 1st)

Hope u all have a gd eve of currys &bouncing to get those babies coming n turning

jimmijam · 24/08/2011 20:53

oooh half price at tesco, may just have 2 text dh in the hope he finishes work before it shuts and can get some on way home :-) ooh and wot a shame, sainsburys delivery wont fit in freezer with it in so i'll only have 1 day 2 eat it ;-)
didnt notice with ds or dd (and theyre both fine) but... my favourite, phish food ice cream contains unpasturised egg something or another, so have gone all this time without, being near the end am thiking somehow that i may get away with it...

any of you got any requests for when LO is born?
I've told dh when i get home I'd like a greek salad (feta cheese) with poached egg followed by a GU desert and a sip of martini :-)

feralgirl · 25/08/2011 06:46

Ooh, martini. I miss martini. I'm thinking, so long as I time the HB properly, I'll be plumping for fish and chips from down the road. Of course, if it's the middle of the night then won't happen so will have to make sure there's something good in the freezer for each possible meal. Might go to M&S later and stock up on freezer goodies. Maybe champagne...

Definitely pancakes if the first post-birth meal is breakfast.

The curry hasn't done the job and, actually, I'm now thinking that I'd like the DC to hold on as I'd rather not have a late August baby who then might struggle to keep up with his/ her year group at school. If I'm going to make it to September then that means keeping going for at least another week which doesn't really appeal to me.

Had a totally crappy night's sleep last night and been awake since 5am this morning. It's GCSE results day today so I'm off into school later to see how we've got on.

Hope you're planning good stuff for your last day ssmile, not just decorating!

tiddleypompom · 25/08/2011 09:21

Happy Last Day ssmile!
Hope the results are looking good feral - let us know?

Post baby requests - am thinking of having a cheese and wine party at the hospital... too much??

Went to a deli up the road from me yesterday with mum to buy some bread, and as we considered the cheese the chap behind counter said 'you're alright as long as it is unpasterised' Hmm I did explain that his was the opposite of correct, and he rather crossly said 'well, how am I supposed to know?'!

Conkertree · 25/08/2011 09:36

I'm looking forward to lots of Brie and pate. Havent really avoided prawns as much as I did with the first two pgs, but a prawn sandwich is always welcome.

And of course a glass or two of champagne. My 30th birthday is early in October, so am hoping the baby comes by the middle of September so I've recovered a bit before then.

Echo the enjoy your last day ssmile. Hope you have something lovely planned (you probably do and I've missed it - my memory is gone so by the time I read the posts, and then write a message, I've forgotten most of what I read).

Conkertree · 25/08/2011 09:38

Feralgirl - we dont have the September thing in Scotland as the cut off for school entry is the end of February. Always just think of September as a nice colourful month to have a baby.

Sewmuchtodo · 25/08/2011 10:40

Conkertree, im in the same position with work. I have now finished up (well order wise, still have a few meetings and paperwork but all can be done from home). Was planning on taking 3mths after the baby arrives but now have a meeting scheduled for the last week in sep Hmm

MW yesterday booked me in for a position assesment scan as she thinks
LO is still breech (I do too) so off for that tomorrow afternoon. Other than that no more news :(

100years · 25/08/2011 11:19

Thanks again everyone :) Electrician didn't turn up yesterday, did text landlady and she said she would get onto them this morning, have text her this morning, still not heard back to know when/if they are coming. It's a good job we had someone close by who could have our frozen stuff, otherwise it would have been a lot of food wasted and ruined. :( Hey ho, these things happen.

Ssmile, hope your DD is better soon and that you manage to miss out on it this time. Re requests for when LO is born, not really, but my OH has recently taken to buying pate and so every time he has it I tell my bump that she can come out now so I can have some pate!

Tiddley, bad man, if he said the wrong thing then got all uppity about being informed of the right thing then he shouldn't have said anything in the first place!

Mild period type pains again off and on for me today, nothing as bad as it was last week, still reckon I'll be waiting ages. Come on LO I want to meet you now and see your cute baby nose, fingers and toes!
