My friend went to give blood they said she couldn't as she was anaemic and to go to gp gp did hcg and she was updiffed

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 06/09/2011 04:25

Oh Meme! how did you end up in hospital? Are you dehydrated because of the vomiting? You poor thing :(

I have woken up starving at 4am despite eating crumble at 8:30 last night. Hmm

So I have just worked out at according to my new edd date of 13 march I am now magically 13 weeks rather then the 12 +3 I had thought. Whoop! :)

Oh Meme you poor thing! Hope you're feeling better by now. Take care x

Biscuitsandtea · 06/09/2011 06:13

Oh Meme you poor thing. Hope they can give you something to stop the sickness. Sad

hiding yay for 13 weeks! That's great news!

LoveInAColdClimate · 06/09/2011 07:00

Oh no, meme! Get well soon!

That's fab news, Hiding! Am also 13 weeks tomorrow, yay!

jaggythistle · 06/09/2011 07:43

Aw no Meme, get well soon!

Yes Too it was the giant swimming pool helicopter training. Just to explain to everybody imagining ropes, the idea is to safely escape if your helicopter crashes into the sea. Yay.

I ended up 1st lighter than pre-pregnancy, I believe the secret is that when you notice you have stopped losing weight and are just staying the same STOP EATING EVERYTHING AND MAYBE DO SOME EXERCISE. I failed to do this and put at least half a stone of it back on. I did get to feel much lighter and happier for about a year though :)

I have a bloaty lower tummy already - I am going to have to start wearing different trousers to work. If I continue to expand at this rate it may be noticeable....

I also have a DS birthday cake to bake in a couple of weeks... Not even picked a recipe yet.

pommedechocolat · 06/09/2011 08:56

Get well soon meme!

DenyEverything · 06/09/2011 09:02

hiding am jealous of both your crumble and your 13 weeks Wink

meme really hope your sickness gets sorted soon. Sounds rough.

too am salivating just hearing about your Victoria sponge recipe. I lost all baby weight with bf last time then gained a stone and a half when I stopped but continued to eat the same way. Hmmm.

jaggy I have similar issues with DS cake in a few weeks. Last year I did a very hungry caterpillar which was OK but I had brown icing dye down my fingernails until about Christmas. Not a good look, especially at work where infection control is quite important Grin

Oh, by the way, does anyone else have terrible acne? I am rocking the wrinkled teenage skin look.

Biscuitsandtea · 06/09/2011 09:42
jaggythistle · 06/09/2011 09:43

DS is quite easy to please though, i asked him what kind of cake he wanted and he replied 'chocolate buttons'!

caterpillar cake sounds cool!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 06/09/2011 10:01

Poor Meme, hope you feel better soon!

I love the Very Hungry Caterpillar, Deny! That sounds adorable. Clearly the bar on children's birthday cakes is quite high.

I am also terribly spotty, grr! Stupid pregnancy hormones.

Thanks for the tip, Jaggy - will have to start weighing myself regularly post-pregnancy so as to be aware of when weight starts to plateau.

I am going to meet DH for lunch (I have the week off and he has the afternoon off) and we are going to have sushi, yay! I am going to ask about the frozen thing someone linked to a couple of days ago, but even if I can't have the raw stuff I can have prawn and smoked salmon and veggie sushi and crispy squid and prawn tempura. I suppose I better go get in the shower - it's going to take me a long time to make myself presentable, what with the current state of my skin!

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 06/09/2011 11:02

Too, I am soooo jealous of your sushi. I have such fish and sea food cravings at the moment. I am sure I have eaten more fish in the last few weeks then I have in the last 10 years.

I have realised that i am still too excited to do any work.

I am rubbish at making cakes, hence the celebratory crumble. Do you think it is wrong to make your child birthday crumble or will I have to sort out my cake making crapness before the little one gets big enough to realise my parental failiure. I do make a pretty damn fine crumble if I do say so myself :)

I think crumble is great. I buy birthday cakes.
I AM going to learn to bake sometime though. Soon.

LoveInAColdClimate · 06/09/2011 12:28

This book is fab for easy cakes. Obviously go for second hand given the weird price difference!

Biscuitsandtea · 06/09/2011 13:10

I've bought that book Love - I am now expecting to be able to turn out an awe inspiring birthday cake for DS. It does come with natural baking ability right?

Goodness me I'm pooped - just took DS round the supermarket (I knew there was a reason I don't normally take him!)

He used to be ok in the trolley but wants to walk round now - he's not really naughty or anything but if I had £1 for every time I had said 'Mini Biscuit, stop touching, do you remember what we said about not picking things up and staying by the trolley.... because I am sure everyone in the shop has heard me repeat it now' Gah! I'm bored of the sound of my own voice! I think I was most nervous as he approached me clutching a glass jar of beetroot - eeek! DON'T DROP THAT ONE!!

Still, could be worse - I have friends who under no circumstance would ever enter a supermarket with their DC so I guess I'm lucky :)

Hope everyone is ok mwah mwah

LoveInAColdClimate · 06/09/2011 13:47

TBH from memory loads of it doesn't need baking ability at all! I seems to remember that it gives instructions for e.g. making a train from swiss rolls and mini rolls (strangely looks really good!) and a castle out of mini milky ways. Not the healthiest but yummy and dead easy!

LoveInAColdClimate · 06/09/2011 13:47

"seems to remember"? What?

DenyEverything · 06/09/2011 13:54

I did it the easy way and made square sponge with royal icing and just did a caterpillar out of icing that I coloured so it was just like working with plasticine really. Think a celebratory crumble sounds great!

I know exactly what you mean about the supermarket biscuits as my DS has gone off trollies too. Today we went to sainsburys with a friend and her twins (also nearly two) - all 3 kids exhausted and screaming on the way out. Oh the shame. Normally supermarket trips are like military operations for us - get in, get stuff on list, get out fast.

DenyEverything · 06/09/2011 13:55

Mmm, milky ways. I might just have to pop to the shops Blush

mememummy · 06/09/2011 15:30

Can I have a milky way

MeconiumHappens · 06/09/2011 20:48

Ah i love the idea of doing the caterpillar out of icing, bet it looked fabulous!

Biscuitsandtea · 06/09/2011 20:53

Ah so Deny was the caterpillar just on top of the cake?

Biscuitsandtea · 06/09/2011 21:13

I don't mean that to sound like it wasn't an amazing cake for the record Deny Smile

DenyEverything · 06/09/2011 21:24

Had thought about doing a caterpillar shaped cake but wasnt sure I could get it to look specifically like the very hungry caterpillar (why that was important for a one year old I've no idea) so found a link and copied it. Was much easier and lots of fun to make (and I am not a good cook but like playing with play-doh so it suited me)

Will try and post the link I copied - here goes
