Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just back from my 16 week appointment with the MW (Wednesday is clearly the day for appointments for viroids!). All well and I heard the heartbeat for the first time and a really loud kick! BPM was 148 so none the wiser yet as to whether its a girl or a boy. I think I will be a bit shocked if it is a boy... ring test says girl, I'm a bit barrel shaped and cousin reckoned 'girl' when she saw the scan. But who knows? Grin

Have booked the next appointment for late afternoon, I've been out of the office from 12.45-3.30 having this one Hmm

cowboylover · 04/05/2011 16:27

Loving all the cuteness today!

COAAF That's not fair I was relying on you! After all that excitement it seams strange just waiting again now. They said yesterday I was showing good preperation signs but I said not to get my hopes up after last time!

Just come back from lunch with my friend who is due 3 days before me so was nice to catch up and have a good moan together without fear of sounding like a whinger!

Hopefully the moses basket will be ready to collect from the shop tomorrow so we will be ready, I think, I hope!!!!

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 18:28

Fab scan Grin

Teddy bear was having a shy day and hiding his face in the placenta and behind his hands! Everything is where is should be and performing the functions it should! Oh and shown something that was definately a willy! She started the scan by saying 'What's this? There are two of them!' So DH I I both excitedly yell 'TESTICLES'. They were his kidneys, poor boy Blush!

He weighs 1lb 3ozs at the mo! All measurements bang on the 50th percentile - apart from a little tum which was at 73! I was also told several times what a lovely cervix I have! I was Confused and Grin in equal measures. Was told it was long and closed therefore very low probability of pre-term delivery.

Can't believe that is it for scans, bar any issues!

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2011 19:43

ConfusedHmm for vallinna's lovely cervix! Grin And "yeah" for the willy!

Yeah for katee's scan too! Grin

Yes, Wednesday is the day my local hospital runs all of it's routine scan appointments

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 20:52

BB mine too! Are there that many random ones the rest of the time?!

takethatlady · 04/05/2011 20:59
takethatlady · 04/05/2011 21:00

Come to think of it, my scans have always been on a Wednesday. My next one is 1st June - is that a Wednesday too?!

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 21:25

'Tis indeed TTL! Anyone had a regular scan NOT on a Weds?!

I agree with bump shaped, totally dependent on the Mama not the bub! I STILL just look like I've eaten too much, all be it waaaaayyyyy too much but it's still not particular bump shaped. Hard as hell!

Had some BH to. Really bizarre, no pain or cramping but the bump goes completely solid and pulls all in to the middle.

Well done on the PG radar! My DH is scarily good. He guessed Jessica Alba before she announced (the floaty dress at the BAFTAs was a bit of a give away)

Right, there's a tub of Ben & Jerry's with my name on it.

cowboylover · 04/05/2011 21:26

Grin vallinna and the great scan, especially the cervix comments!

You reminded me and I just measured and bump has changed shape but not that much bigger so 4" smaller than my height.

TTL Yep thats a Wednesday as well. Loving the new pregnancy darr- or is it just that I am more suspicious now? I think I have lost a few brain cells being pregnant so glad to have a new super power!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 05/05/2011 10:02

fecking hell, how did I do that? Lost my post while trying to post it. Angry

Something about Yay for the scan Vallinna, Yay for hearing your LO for the first time Kateepie and something else that I've forgotten.

Then twiddling thumbs waiting for something to happen until Tuesday and MW appt.

Oh yeah, my scans have been Friday, Tuesday and a Thursday, so nothing regular here Grin

takethatlady · 05/05/2011 10:24

coaaf you have ruined the conspiracy theory now with your ordinary appointment times Grin

vallinna Braxton Hicks and Ben and Jerry's in one day? That's just too much excitement for one lady Grin. I've got my first antenatal class tonight and don't know what to expect, so may have to balance up the nerves with a pot of ice cream. What flavour?

nickelbabe · 05/05/2011 10:54

ooh, all exciting posts! Grin

well done everyone for good scans, good cervixes, and for prominent willies and kidneys and everything else!

WE watched mums-to-be behaving badly last night, and it was awful - those mums smoking all the way through their pregnancies.
and that girl who was 81 kilos, but looked about my size in her face etc (i'm 64) Shock
but of course, I've been moaning about putting on weight and becoming fat before I should be (DH no help cos all he says is "you're perfect/you're beautifull" and "do you want some ice cream?" Hmm )
anyway, we were taking some of the tips she was given, like how she's eating tomatoes as snacks, etc. I don't want to eat tomatoes as snacks, but there are some under-cover-grown british strawberries in the shops now, and blueberries (not british, but they never are), and grapes that I can have instead.

cowboylover · 05/05/2011 12:51

My scans are always Tuesdays- sorry!

My friend due a few days before me has a really 'pointy' bump but that might be just me thinking that as everyone had mine is long and round ??? [Hmm]
Wish people would stop saying I'm going to be ages as not 'dropped' yet as when I asked MW she said its a low as she's going because its all baby!

Fruit snacks are lush and they do fill you up longer somehow and I feel beytter knowing I can eat all the massive bag without guilt ect making the Malteasers pitifully small. I am a total recent convert to fruit!

nickelbabe · 05/05/2011 14:10

is this a hormonal thing?
I have been having the biggest problems with my end of year employer return.
I don't want to be an employer anymore, cos I've lost my little employee

anyway, these huge problems meant I had to ring the helpline, but after waiting for what seemed like hours to talk to a person, I started crying when I spoke to her. Big, sobby wails.
the bitch told me I was shouting at her (i was rather hysterical, and may have been shouting, but I was only shouting becauseI was sobbing and panicking at the time), then ended the phonecall! Shock

I had to ring back, still sobbing (but a bit quieter this time) and, eventually, the phone was picked up by a man.
so the first thing I said to him was "please don't hang up on me!"
managed to calm down after about 5 minutes into the phone call, and the man was lovely, managing to translate my insane babblings into the questions I was trying to ask.
Blush

why does HMRC make these things so hard to do??

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 05/05/2011 15:49

I feel so good having just polished off an apple as I turned on the comp and started reading

I'm sure I'm reading it wrong, but Nickel are you 64 years? Shock indeed Grin. As for you question, yes it's hormones and cause they're utter prats.

nickelbabe · 05/05/2011 15:58

no, 64kg! Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 05/05/2011 16:37

Ah that's better. Was thinking either you're ancient or really tall! Wasn't thinking weight.

nickelbabe · 05/05/2011 16:40

i should Blush because my physics teacher used to go "64 what? bananas?" if we forgot units.

I thought it was implied, though ,by the fact that the previous statement said "she was 81 kilos"
Grin

frakyouveryverymuch · 05/05/2011 17:03

I've not managed to get around to starting a post-natal thread yet so no birth story! Newborns are very time consuming - in between the constant feeding and changing when they sleep you just want to hold them and drink in the adorableness and time evaporates. Everyone tells you to sleep when the baby does but it's impossible. Feeling very sleep deprived at the moment....

OP posts:
ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 06/05/2011 08:23

I realise that now, Nickel, but am going to claim pregnancy brain and the distraction of a 3 yr old.

Oh Frak your post makes me want to smile and cry all at the same time.

Well my internet is about to expire for the month and am not sure when I'll be able to top it up again, so if I ignore you, it's because I'm not here.

cowboylover · 06/05/2011 13:15

Frak Thanks for the check in that sounds so cute; I just keep reminding myself it will be amazingly worth it in the end! Smile

Ok COAAF Come back when you can, maybe with baby news?

vallinnapod · 06/05/2011 13:17

Afternoon ladies,

Trying to get over the shock of working on a Friday Grin

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday, although we are officially celebrating tonight as 'our' restaurant bumped us due to a corporate bash! DH got my a beautiful, thoughtful charm for the charm bracelet he got my for Valentine's Day. That said our car seat arrived yesterday and I got ridiculously excited about it!! Tonight should be fun, have warned them I am preggers! Although one of the consolations at moving our bookings is a bottle of bubbles...arses...!

Think Teddy had hiccups yesterday, that or the boy has rythem!

nickelbabe · 06/05/2011 13:23

I think you should ask them if you can take the bottle of bubbles home with you, so you can celebrate when you've given birth. Grin

BrassicaBabe · 06/05/2011 22:46

Yeah for frak! Glad your head is about water!

Happy Anniversary vallinna!

Well, I've set a date for starting maternity leave. Mentally if not having agreed it with work. In a moment of "super-hero-ness" I initally gave a date of 4th July (38 weeks) to work. Ha! No fecking chance! Grin So rather than mess with this date, I'm going to preced maternity leave with 3 weeks of annual leave. So, waffle aside, I'm going to start maternity leave on 13th June...5 weeks time! Closer, but still seems like aaaggggesss away. I'll be 34 weeks. (Section booked for 38+5)

Sat here in bed (watching telly with laptop on knee while DH at pub), not being able to breath properly, 13th June seems like a bloody loing way off! Really....Is being able to breathe that much to ask?! Grin

Anyone got any streth marks yet? Just curious Grin

Eskarina · 06/05/2011 23:41

Yay Frak great to hear you're doing so well.
BB 13th June seems like tomorrow compared to 16th August! But sympathies on the breathing and full credit to you as you're carrying double!

I got my maternity leave sorted, no problems at all, just had a tearful night the night before. But I got my confirmation letter today (informing me that I can't count!! Got the 11 weeks before EDD wrong Blush) Think the hormones are kicking in.

I forgot to mention that we had a really encouraging weekend with my family last weekend. Ages ago I ranted that my parents had booked to camp the entire summer in our town and I was worried they were going to be overbearing. Well they camped last weekend too and were really good - popped in to spend the evening with me when they first arrived on Thurs as DH was out for the eve. Then pre-arranged family day with Bro and SiL on the Sat, and they dropped in for an hour on Sunday eve. Really very well behaved. Whether they're that good when DC arrives remains to be seen Grin
