Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 11:15

i can't believe you've given your DH permission to ignore your distress!!! Shock
what are you doing!!
DH has been told that he has to run around and comfort etc if this happens (now he knows how to do it Hmm )
Grin

I haven't slept well, either - sorry you're tired.

vallinnapod · 03/05/2011 12:16

Any unreasonable, over-reacting behaviour on my part is bound to be just that - I too told DH to completely ignore me Grin Last week I cried in the street (yes, THE STREET!) because I was upset about moving out of the borough we live in even though when I am rational I have no issue with this!

takethatlady · 03/05/2011 12:17

Don't worry nickel, he knows his place Wink Grin

I'm just trying to keep up the JSing spirit by not giving a flying f* about work. Planning not to have a meltdown about it is not exactly the same as not actually caring though, I realise Grin

frak's birth story is here for anybody who wants to read it - on her postnatal thread. It's a little Shock but mainly because, though everything was fine and not out of the ordinary, and though frak blatantly did an amazing job, it makes you realise just how Shock Shock Shock 'not out of the ordinary' actually is Grin Shock

7 1/2 weeks to go. Eeeeeeeeeeeek!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 03/05/2011 14:18

Hmm seems I'm the only one stupidly happy glad to see the back of the 4 day weekends. In my defence it's only because DS hasn't been to friday playgroup in a month and it's for his own good he goes because Daddy is unwell and has no fuse and Mummy is rather pg and has a short fuse Blush it's less boring than being at home.

Please stop talking about cats. My parents had to put my cat down last week (she was a grand old dame though, liked DS but HATED DH Grin) and I want a cat but DH wants a dog ----

I had to tell 3 people today how much longer I have to go. It felt quite real and strange saying 6 and half weeks.

Can now not remember anything to reply to other than Star keep persuing the MW til you get what you need. Added anxiety/stress is the last thing you need right now, so def get all the help you can (then come vent to us when you need too Grin)

nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 14:29

the compromise there , C is to get chickens.
it's the only way.

vallinnapod · 03/05/2011 14:49

COAAF I would normally burn anyone at the stake for a comment like that but in your case it is really justified you poor thing. Sorry about the puss cat. 'My' 3 live with my Mum - was there over the long weekend as DH away in a stag. Unfortunately for my Mum and me the cats love anyone male - especially my DH! They are all over him - although the littlest loves the bump (also a boy...!) she lies on me wrapping herself around it. It is really quite sweet!

6 and a half weeks! And there's me getting excited because tomorrow I can say I'm 5 months PG. Don't know why but it seems sooooooooooo much further on than half way Hmm

nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 16:13

addition to the argument - DH has just said I also have to tell you that I apologised too, and for hitting him.
(i think it makes me look grown-up...)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 03/05/2011 17:39

Or d we aren't allowed pets so it's a moot point right now Grin ('s okay though, baby is better than pet - for now)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 03/05/2011 17:41

Oh and well done for the apologies all round in the Nickel house.

Eskarina · 03/05/2011 17:55

Oh F*

I've just read through my maternity leave stuff. I haven't sent off a form that needed to arrive at County payroll office TODAY in order that I get maternity pay. I was confused by my MATB1 form saying it must not be handed in more than 14 weeks before EDD and I thought it had to be done at the same time. Plus I had informed the Head, and didn't realise everything was on such a rigid timescale. To make matters worse the Head is off on sick leave and we've just had 3 weeks off work for Easter, so I don't know when I could have done this earlier!
I can get this sorted tomorrow, and the form with them by Thursday, but I'm now terrified I won't be getting maternity pay.

cowboylover · 03/05/2011 21:44

Saw my consultant today and really pleased as he was happy. She is growing well and all my bloods where good so he is happy to review me again at 41 weeks if I have not had her already so I am really pleased. He said that to give me the best chance of a good labour thats the best for me and LO the least interventions the better as interventions tend to lead to more and women in labour really are wonderful when left to go what they feel they should be doing. Now I need to remember his words and positivity to remind me I really can do it as I have been having a confidence crisis!

TTL Apparently all the cramps ect are good signs of my boby preparing so I must not swear moan when they kick off again.

Esk I am glad cat is home safe! I used to worry something wrotten when we had ours what he was doing and used to follow him around the house as a kitten to see if he was ok so can only imagine what its going to be like with a baby here.

vallinnapod I tried knitting but really cant do it! Mum and Nan have made some lovely things and I am making bunting for her room. Enjoy your scan, it will be fab Smile

Esk I hope they get it sorted soon. I cant remember when I handed mine in?

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2011 09:40

esk I thought the MATB1 form had to be sent in about 15 weeks before your EDD. But that it could be sent in as early as you want. Give Payroll a call, I'm sure they can ease your mind. Smile

Glad the consultant appointment went well cowboy. He sounds very reassuring.

I've got another scan/consultant appointment today. Another long wait in a hot waiting room, and a fortune for the carpark Hmm. Yes, I'm a whinging what-sit! Grin

Does anyone know if you can claim benefits/tax credits etc while on maternity leave? I get paid in some shape or form for 6 months, but I can take 12 months off with the last 6 months being unpaid. Due to DH's wages if I wasn't working we'd be entited to decent tax credits, although not when I go back to work. I'm wondering if we can claim stuff for the unpaid 6 months before I go back to work.

nickelbabe · 04/05/2011 10:07

don't worry Esk i'm sure they'll be okay with it.
blame prgnancy brain if not.... Grin

nickelbabe · 04/05/2011 10:10

there's info on SML here

I don't know what bits are relevant to you, BB - there are about a million pages of info....

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2011 10:12

Thanks nickel. The SML pay is lumped in on the 1st 6 months off work. I'm wondering if I can afford to take the additional 6 months if some form of benefit is available.

I'll have a read.....

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 10:53

Esk - even if you have missed your employers cut off date I am sure they will have some flexibility. I am only a couple of weeks behind you and am not sure I get my MATB1 until my m/w check on 23rd May (24+1)

BB - GL, I don't want to rain on your parade but I think you are technically still employed for the unpaid bit of mat leave therefore not eligible for anything benefit wise :(

Nickel - glad there were apologies all round (it's always one in the bank if it wasn't really your fault Grin)

Glad you appt went well Cowboy - am currently clock watching as mine is at 4pm!

takethatlady · 04/05/2011 12:55

esk I handed in my MATB1 form really late and it was no problem, and my DH forgot to organise his paternity leave until a couple of weeks after the deadline. I think usually they're fine about these things.

bb do you mean that you get your 39 weeks SMP in the first 24-ish weeks? I'm going back in December (though I'm taking holiday so I don't actually need to go back until January) so I just thought I'd get the regular weekly payments until then and then they'd cease.

I've just spent the morning watching people give presentations for a job in our department. Haven't seen any presentations before and I've only done two myself, for this job and my last job - it's so scary for them! They were all pretty good so that's a relief!

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2011 13:00

Back from my scan appointment. All still going well Grin. Twins are 1.2kg and 1.3kg. So 2.6lb and 2.8lb. Not bad for 28+5 me thinks! Also I bullied them into booking my ELCS. So unless things happen earlier the date I'm aiming for is 13th July when I'll be 38+5!!! We're not sharing this date with anyone else yet, but I bet DH wouldn't mind if I told you lot! Grin I'm a bit of a control freak and just wish I knew if I'd make this date or not Hmm

Yep, I guessed it was a long shot vallinna Grin Hey-ho.

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2011 13:04

x-posts ttl Ok, maybe I need to read more about SMP Blush I didn't realise it was paid for 39 weeks. I get full pay for about 4 months then SMP until the time period runs out then unpaid leave up to 12 months.

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 13:15

BB the headline for SMP is:
If you qualify for SMP, it is paid:

  • for the first six weeks at 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings with no upper limit
  • for the remaining 33 weeks at the lower of either the standard rate of £128.73, or 90 per cent of your average gross weekly earnings

Some companies give 'enhanced' packages (like your first 4 months for example)

Glad you bubses are growing well! Can I ask - is it easy for you to tell which is which as far a movements go? Does one occupy your left side and one your right? Sorry if this is a really naive/stupid question! I get little flutters everywhere (obviously there being more room with the one!) and was just intrigued Grin

2 hours until I leave for my scan....WANT IT NOW! Lordy, can you just imagine my impatience as EDD draws closer?!

BrassicaBabe · 04/05/2011 13:39

Thanks vallinna. That's helpful. Will do some sums..

The twins are lying like shoes in a box Grin Twin 1 is on the RHS and is head down with pesky feet under my ribs. Twin 2 is on the LHS with feet low down. So i can tell the difference quite easily (I think Grin) But I think twins can be a myriad of conbinations.

Come back quickly and let us know how your scan went!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 04/05/2011 14:14

Your shoe box babies sound awfully cute BB.

And hurray for your consultant Cowboy sounds like just the reassurance I'll be wanting to hear in 4 or so weeks time.

vallinnapod · 04/05/2011 14:19

Yes, too cute! I wonder if when they arrive they will prefer sleeping that way (if they co-sleep with each other)?!

I would love to hurry back from my scan but that would mean leaving first...which is still an hour away. This is the last time I make an appt to suit DH! I ALWAYS go for first thing!

takethatlady · 04/05/2011 14:26

Awww bb this thread is just all cuteness today :)

vallinna I share your pain! How bloody long is 9 months? Ridiculous that pregnancy is engineered to last that long. I feel like I've been queuing up for 32 1/2 weeks and I'm still nowhere near the front. ...

Good luck for your scan! And how unreasonable of your DH to expect you to plan it around his convenience Wink. 9 o'clock appointments are the only way ...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 04/05/2011 15:15

Yes Vallinna it is VERY inconvienent of your DH not letting you book your scan to suit us viroids you Grin

TTL I keep thinking that you're going to pop before me. Then who'll be whinging about waiting in the queue forever? GrinGrin. Oh and on the note Cowboy I'm not going to do for you what you did for Frak and attempt to go into early labour when you're complaining of running over
