Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
vallinnapod · 15/06/2011 14:14

LOL - if only.....! DH is terrified I am going to talk him in to me not going back!

BrassicaBabe · 15/06/2011 15:39

2 hours 20 mins at my routine hospital appointment this morning! Angry I do try to be paitent, but there are only so many games of solitaire I can play on my phone! Hmm

Estimated weights are 5.6lbs and 5.5lbs! Shock That's babies of over 11lbs people! Count them!! Then 2 x placenta etc etc No wonder I'm a crabby old cow!! Grin

My 11 year old pooch is poorly which was my crashed out message this morning. I'm not ready to lose him yet. I'm praying he gets better. At the moment it's something between an upset tummy with arthritis and cancer with arthritis. Sad

nickelbabe · 15/06/2011 16:01

waht type of twins are they BB ?

nickelbabe · 15/06/2011 16:02

sorry about your pooch :(

vallinnapod · 15/06/2011 17:23

Awh, hope the pooch is better soon.

You have all my admiration for being a super human human-incubator!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 15/06/2011 22:28

It's a good thing that's 2 babies and not 1 BB otherwise my eyes would be really watering for you. Sorry about your dog. Sick pets are tough.

No news here other than I am starving all the time at the moment. My stomach is so huge I can't believe Currant Bun doesn't just explode out the front. And it's obviously having a growth spurt hence all the fecking food! I'm a bit Shock when I look in the mirror (esp as I still, somehow, have a waist!!!).

BrassicaBabe · 16/06/2011 07:28

The dog seems a bit better this morning. We're back at the vets on Saturday. I know they can't live for ever, but.... Sad

A waist coaaf?! Envy

We're having non-id twins nickel. Less risky than id ones apparently.

I had my first MW ask why I was having a ELCS yesterday Hmm. I brightly said "Mr Consultant and I decided it was the best thing for me and the babies". That shut her up! Grin Each to their own missus! (Oh, and I am too posh!! Grin)

Going to put together the nursery today!! All of the sheets etc have been washed, the two cot beds and changing table built and the spare bed finally removed from the room. (The wardrobe is yet to be built, but there's no need for that anyway at the moment) The room is still a built magnolia. I need something for the walls....

takethatlady · 16/06/2011 08:26

bb I really hope the dog gets better. Hopefully it's a case of loads of antibiotics and TLC.

This company has nice nursery wall stickers if you're looking :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 16/06/2011 09:18

I floated the idea of robots on the wall to DS and his reply was 'Yes. Lots of Robots!'. Sorry TTL in the Confessions household, robots rule. Grin

{Robots can be cute!}

Grin at your poshness BB

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 16/06/2011 09:19

oh and yes a waist. I look like I have a comedy bump stuck on my front!

vallinnapod · 16/06/2011 09:23

What's a 'waist' COAAF....haven't had one of those since the morning of my egg collection....went straight from bloat/swelling to baby!

Shock BB at the MW comment. I had mine ask why I had IVF on Monday, if I was was only 30 and how keen my GP must have been to get me through! Cheeky bitch. 'Errr, no periods or ovulation. Nothing else had worked. And as a matter of fact, you nosey cow, we paid for it privately as the younger you are the better chance of success. Happy?' Should have pointed out I was actually 29 when I had IVF Grin

Thanks for the nursery wall stickers TTL - something we are keen on!

takethatlady · 16/06/2011 09:33

OMG at the IVF comment vallinna ... people's attitudes are so weird!

coaaf don't apologise! Robots are cool, and that M&P robot is especially brilliant :) I may actually have to buy it ...

Went for lunch with the ladies from my NCT class yesterday and then the men went to the pub ... it was really nice, but even though my due date is first I don't think I'm going to be first to go. Lots of the others have felt their babies drop, one has a baby measuring quite large, and another is being induced in 2 weeks. No dropping here, I don't think :(

On the plus side, I spent £60 on make-up. Had to put it on my credit card as we have about £100 to live on until 28th of this month. I told DH I'd done it but I didn't tell him how much I'd spent Blush This is bad, but the fatter I get the more I feel the need to truss myself up like a tart Grin

KateeTheBump · 16/06/2011 12:03

If anyone does want to buy anything from Mamas and Papas, you can get a £5 gift voucher here Smile voucher

vallinnapod · 16/06/2011 13:44

LOL TTL DH keps talking about a joint account. I realise this is in my interest and makes complete sense but I do think he would Shock at some of my purchases, as much as I am happy to be in denile about how much he spends on booze and useless crap...!

Thanks for the voucher Katee I do (genuinely!) need some nuring tops!

Does anyine have any advice on sizes? I am going to get several nursing vests but want them to 'last' I figure (at 28.5 weeks) that I am probably about the size now I will be immediately post birth so was going to get one that fitted me right now and a couple of snugger ones. Does this make sense to people or am I insane?!

nickelbabe · 16/06/2011 14:02

we've got a joint account, but we also have separate accounts.
Basicall,y it's mainly because DH has got all the household bills DDs set up and didn't want to have to change them.
Money we got for our wedding went into it, and joint purchases go out of it.
If I earned a wage, it would be easier, because then we could have a "kitty" in it, but I never know how much money i'll have "spare" each month, so it's not practicable at the moment.

KateeTheBump · 16/06/2011 14:04

Sounds sensible to me Vallinna Grin

I succumbed to the robot (boy one) and a rattle soft toy

No more posting of anything cute, cuddly or nice please! I've already had to spend £20 today on a maternity cossie! Wink

KateeTheBump · 16/06/2011 14:05

We have a joint account for food, bills etc (anything for the house really) which we both pay into each month, and our own separate accounts for our own stuff, seems to work quite harmoniously!

BrassicaBabe · 16/06/2011 14:18

vallinna the M&P clothes come in sizes 8/10, 12/14 etc. If it helps I'm a size 12 "normally" (Hmm when was that exactly?!) and the M&P clothes are still working for me now. Whereas I think I'm "outgrowing" some other maternity wear. Does that make sense/help? And I think your MW comment outranks mine! Cheeky mare!

Love the wall stickers ttl And I did the same on the makeup front so you are not alone Blush

vallinnapod · 16/06/2011 14:26

Thanks for the sizing help! I am a 10-12 (pre-pregancy!!) so always fall in those gaps! Although I am in no doubt I am in the 12/14 catagory for these purposes Grin I have found brands differ wildly. My Seraphine clothes are all a slightly large (although less so these days!) size 10 and IO is a rather snug size 12! Gap always comes up random, normally big. I have two t-shirts that swamp me and one that it stripper tight! All the same size!

When we first moved in together (errr, 8 years ago) we said we would have a joint account for the house and then are separate ones - never got round to it. Spend a life time transferring money to each other :) I think we will finally get around to doing this now...maybe Wink!

nickelbabe · 16/06/2011 14:31

i'm sure the M&P website said to measure your pre-preg size and use that to buy stuff.

hang on, i'll have a look.....

nickelbabe · 16/06/2011 14:32

here

KateeTheBump · 16/06/2011 14:37

Why is this afternoon going so darned slowly? Hmph.

takethatlady · 16/06/2011 14:38

We have a joint account which DH gets paid into. I get paid into my own account, but all the bills come out of there (and it has to be topped up with £700 from the joint account). Then we live off what's left in the joint. Luckily for me, DH doesn't really care what I spend, doesn't spend much himself, and is totally useless at money. He has to carry around notes on his phone to remind himself what a mortgage is and why you have to pay it Grin Hmm.

Glad someone else wants nice make-up bb! I am still nurturing the fond illusion that I will be applying mascara in between contractions, just to make sure I look good for the photos Blush

KateeTheBump · 16/06/2011 14:52

You'd better make sure its waterproof then ttl Grin and don't poke yourself in the eye mid-contraction, that would hurt!! Grin

Eskarina · 16/06/2011 15:52

Lol at mascara during contractions Grin I'm hopeless enough with it at the best of times. Do want some nice shiny new make up for the post-baby photos though. And DH is going to be receiving hints that some of this would be a very acceptable "thankyou for bringing my child into this world" present. My hairdresser puts a tiny drop on each time I have my hair cut and it's magic. Calms the frizz no end. I am well aware that "hints" to DH are going to involve me ordering it and giving it to him to give back to me!

We don't have separate accounts at all - apart from out ISA's but that's only because you can't have joint ISAs. When we got married we decided both salaries would go into the joint a/c and everything paid from there. It makes some things simpler, but it does take away the sense of being able to buy something for the other as it's all coming out of the same pot anyway. Plus DH does like to keep an eye on where the money is going - but he has a habit of liking expensive gadgets camera gear so can't say much about what I spend.

One of my friends has offered to throw me a baby shower! I was unsure at first, have never been to one, but they seem quite common in my church for first-time mums. I just feel a bit awkward with lots of focus being on me - and really don't want anyone to feel they've been invited just so they can buy me a present. But then when friend explained it sounded like lots of fun - though I did Hmm at the mention of "games", especially the "guess what's in the nappy" round - and as DH pointed out it's no more "me me me" than a birthday party. And this way perhaps I can get out of acknowledging my 30th later in the year
