Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

dyna well done on getting everything sorted, no wonder you're exhausted! I'm staring at that one at the moment and have come to the conclusion that we can't fit this baby in! (This is patently ridiculous as we have a 3 bedroom house, we just have to adjust the quantity of stuff we have around - as I've been telling DH for years months, but he's not very good at it at all Sad)

vallinnapod · 22/05/2011 19:19

LOL are one bed flat is looking like mothercare exploded in a corner of our tiny sitting room! Still, fingers crossed the sale goes through and we find a bigger place!

All quite here. Midwife tomorrow!

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 22/05/2011 20:57

Yay Nickel glad they fit Grin really pleased to have been able to help!

Hmm may have to have another look at cloth nappies now Vallinna... could be expensive!

Eskarina · 22/05/2011 21:51

Katee it's Real Nappy Week this week so lots of places have special offers on until the end of the month. Still expensive to get kitted out but cheaper than usual!
I've got addicted to the various used nappy forums as they're usually really good value.

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 22/05/2011 22:12

Thanks Esk, have my eye on some of the preloved! Just bought four BGs from babame for £36 which I thought wasn't bad Smile could prove addictive... Grin

takethatlady · 23/05/2011 09:57

Hello ladies, loving all the purchasing - especially those bibs, vallinna. Trying to resist but technically on mat leave now (though working from home) so have weeks of resistance to get through! :)

esk welcome to the 3rd trimester! The countdown is properly on now!

nickel this is DC1 for me :)

coaaf it was your DH's fault someone else got that pushchair, in a roundabout way, and you were entitled to get the hump I think. This from hump-lady over here Grin

My mum threw me a baby shower on Saturday and it was really lovely - just an afternoon of catching up with family and friends in her garden, lots of cake, and then a night out (whoop whoop!) with a few of the younger generation Grin. Got lots of lovely gifts, too, (and a pair of crystal booties Hmm). Then yesterday went to my friend's baby's christening and her other baby's 2nd birthday party, and she gave us bags and bags of clothes - her daughter is 5 months and grown out of her 0-3 months clothes and there are tons of them! I have to say, though, I felt like absolute crap after we drove away yesterday afternoon - as if I was really really badly hungover. Isobel barely kicked all weekend either, so I started worrying, but she is making up for it today :) 35+1 today whoop whoop.

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 09:59

I can't imagine there'd be much growing room in a pair of crystal booties .... Grin

Baby2b · 23/05/2011 10:01

Morning, not much to report here. Just having a day in the house hiding from the rubbish weather. I could really do with some sunshine!

Nickel this is my first baby too. 27 weeks today and would like the next 13 weeks to whizz by. After a few weeks of people saying I'm massive, a lot of friends and family said I was tiny over the weekend?! Especially mil, which got dh worrying and asking how much im eating Angry. He felt reassured when I reminded him the midwife was happy.

coaf very exciting about being full term next week :) It really won't be long until we are on a post natal thread. Eyeing up gu jars for pee-capture-ability seems a life time ago :)

Brassica hope u are managing to

Baby2b · 23/05/2011 10:05

Oh, some of my message vanished. Brassica, was just saying I hope u are getting some sleep.

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 10:16

I went to the spring Meet-up on Saturday night, and kept having to explain that most of my tummy was biscuits, not baby!
Reality kept insisting that it was baby, and it was wonderful, but I think she was drunk (seriously, she wanted to have her 3 glasses of wine allowance in one night!! Grin )

cowboylover · 23/05/2011 11:22

Thanks so much for the link vallinna I just ordered some as well now, I can't wait to start using all the little outfits and things I have bought her!

TTL that sounds like a really nice day at the baby shower. Nice to come away with so many things!

nickel was the meet up good? I imagine its nice to put names to faces ect.

Just killing abit of time before I see the consultant later as thought it was 12 but actually 2pm

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 11:24

oh, yes, it was great fun.

everyone's lovely Grin

Baby2b · 23/05/2011 11:36

P.s. Thanks for the welcome dyna. I somehow missed reading lots of posts earlier. I don't think I have any questions...yet! :)

vallinnapod · 23/05/2011 11:51

Well done on the acquiring TTL - I have been amazed at how generous people have been (£90 baby monitor being the 'best' bargain so far!). Loving the bling booties.

Katee glad to have inticed you to the cloth-side Grin I am petrified I will prefer disposable after a £250+ outlay Shock I am going to use disposables for the first week as apparently merconium (sp?) stains really badly, and I want to be able to trim the nappies to avoid the cord!

Scary m/w appointment today as bub had clearly burrowed somewhere up by my spine and it look her an age to find his heartbeat. Mine was so fast by the end I still wasn't convinced it was his.

Baby2b · 23/05/2011 14:09

Val it's so scary when they hide isn't it. Mine doesn't like the cold and I told the midwife this at the last app. She looked all smug finding the heartbeat straight away, but sure enough it then disappeared and took ages to find again, lol. Very glad i didn't invest in a dopler for at home.

Just seen a thread on pregnancy about the number of apps you get. I seen my mw 3 weeks ago because I was booking in after moving and my next is 28 weeks app. Do we get anymore scans? Was wondering how they know the placenta isn't lying low etc???

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 23/05/2011 14:20

You typically don't get anymore scans after the 20 week one unless they have concerns about something or you pay to go private . I think they can figure out the placenta with the doppler, but don't hold me to that!

I need to go make icing so that I can eat cake, but can't be bothered. Hmm

Baby2b · 23/05/2011 14:33

I have loads of things to be doing. Really cant be bothered today though. The reward is good for completing the cake :)

Will need to ask mw next week. Mine was low at 20 weeks, which I think is normal. Just read something about needing a c-section if it stays low, but not how they know. Using the dopler sounds entirely possible.

vallinnapod · 23/05/2011 14:46

How very dare you COAAF Wink. Surely the best part of cake is the icing? In fact I'd sack of making the cake and just guzzle buttercream Grin

Baby I think it varies from PCT to PCT. I have LOADS of MW appts (and no, I'm not paying for them Wink. I had/have the following:

MW- 8 weeks, booking in
Scan - 12 Weeks
MW - 16 Weeks
Scan 20 Weeks
MW - 25 Weeks (today)
MW - 28 Weeks
MW - 31 Weeks
MW - 34 Weeks
MW - 36 Weeks
MW - 38 Weeks
MW - 40 Weeks
MW - 41 weeks but in the hospital and possibly induction time

Scan-wise, now I can feel him move I don't feel the need to shell out more money! On the days he doesn't mve and I panic I get as far as lifting the phone to call the MFAU and get a kick for my troubles!

I would have been offered more scans if they were concerned about placenta position and if they have any growth concerns I understand they have you in for a scan but other than that. I was also told today that the only way a placenta can move is up (with the stretching of the uterus) so as long as it wasn't a concern at 20 weeks it shouldn't been an issue. Today (25 weeks) I just weed in a pot, was prodded, measured and then paniced over the vanishing HB. Next time (28 weeks) I get the same plus an additional blood test.

Interestingly she asked if I wanted to see a consultant today as the pregnancy was IVF. I said not really unless they recommended it as as far as I was concerned I now wanted as little intervention as possible.

Also signed up for the NHS antenatal.

vallinnapod · 23/05/2011 14:47

Oh and got my MAT B1

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 23/05/2011 14:54

They only CS for low placenta if it's covering the cervix as obviously baby can't get out. Think I listed all my MW appts on that thread you mentioned B2B. I have less appts as it's not my first baby.

The problem with making icing is it's in the kitchen and I'm upstairs on the bed with the duvet over my feet listening the the howling wind thrash rain against the window (and enjoying feeling snug and secure after the old flat that in this weather felt like a window would blow in at any moment). I guess I could finish cake and bring a piece wedge chunk back to the bed...

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 14:57

don't bother with icing! just eat the cake with ice cream

Baby2b · 23/05/2011 15:06

Coaf, think it's the weather that is preventing me from being productive too. The wind is horrendous. My tv keeps going fuzzy :(

Thanks for the lists. Just has a proper look through my notes and realised I have one too. My notes are a bit of a mess as they are a combination of two hospitals. Will see how I feel after next week and may have a private scan. U have gone from being high risk due to thyroid and being told I will have regular scans to being told they aren't done like that up here Hmm.

I'm not too worried as the baby kicks are plentiful and regular :)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 23/05/2011 15:38

Cake iced and eaten. Grin (it's a two layer sponge cake so needed icing Nickel) It's really the only way I like to consume coffee.

nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 15:45

is it actually a sponge?
hmm? hmm?
or is it a creamed cake?
(clue: if it's got fat in it, it ain't a sponge)

Blush
nickelbabe · 23/05/2011 15:46

I don't like coffee [sob wail]
