Our old thread ran out of space! The horror!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 11:21

urgh, just tried that and noticed that the man in the shop really smells! Shock

(i might wait till he's gone to do the bra bit.... Grin)

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 12:47

I decided to take a gaviscon tablet, and it seems to have eased off a bit - must have been giving myself indigestion (thus starting to sound just like my mother )

takethatlady · 18/05/2011 13:05

vallinna me too. I've been so 'meh' for so long that I'm going to have to finish off loads of stuff once I've gone on maternity leave!

Having a bloody stupid day today. Our camera broke so we put it in to be fixed and we've managed to lose the case and the memory card in the meantime, which has all the pictures of my bump on it. Can't find it anywhere and neither of us has any memory of what we did with it.

Got over this, did some work, went to mw appointment which was in a Sure Start centre this time, and managed to start weeping for no reason at all while I was waiting in the sports hall with loads of other pregnant mums while a parents and babies session went on. Then forgot to ask everything I wanted to ask at my appointment, went to Asda, cried at the checkout when my potatoes wouldn't go through Blush, came home and took a call from DH and cried through that too. I have absolutely no idea why as I feel perfectly fine and nothing is wrong! I hope this is not the beginning of weird preggo behaviour Grin

In good news, I bought new TT tix last week and I think they might have arrived - there's a parcel waiting for me next door :)

nickel it must be bad for you to take a Gaviscon tablet. I hate those things - they just grind into my teeth and stay there! Hope the breathing has eased up. It's just your baby stealing all your oxygen Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/05/2011 13:24

I've been about, was just to tired to actually post yesterday after all the visitors this weekend. The next visitor is the MW tomorrow coming for the homebirth appt Grin. I think I'm in a strong position to get my own way with DH over this. Which considering I started crying in Mothercare this morning (as I cancelled our babyplan and realised we cannot afford this baby in any way shape of form Sad) is a small ray of sunshine for me.

Nickel I've found a new book for you to stock in your shop interesting book. And if it's any consolation I often go bra free when at home, and still get all light headed and woo. It's a great excuse to sit down a lot.

vallinnapod · 18/05/2011 13:30

Gaviscon my feelings on this may possibly be due to the fact the ones in my handbag must be about 3 years old (they are a fab hangover cure for me!) I have heard the liquid is not so bad.

I've eaten so much for lunch that I can feel I have sort of squished bub down into the bottom left of my torso! He is having a little wriggle of protest at the lack of space!!

Fab news on the TT tix TTL...we are off to see Glee next month. DH can't wait...as you can imagine Wink

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 13:46

I don't like the taste, but i like the feeling i get when the indigestion's gone! Grin
Gaviscon isn't as bad a Settler's heart burn tablets, which are like eating mint-flavoured chalk. [boak] - settler's tums are lovely but the heartburn tablets are not

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 13:49

aw, ttl [big hug from me]
cooooaaaafff - i like it Grin
(sorry you're feeling :( too)

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/05/2011 15:38

Just twigged what TT tix means. Couldn't for the life of me work out what type of baby kit it was code for.

Thanks Nickel. There is a thread in chat about MC that has made me feel a bit better. Lots of people pointing out they're really expensive basically.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/05/2011 15:40

Oh meant to say have never had gaviscon tablets, but the liquid is revolting (though better than chocolate induced acid burn!)

vallinnapod · 18/05/2011 15:46

COAAF - thought MC meant miscarriage Blush clearly the day for misreading/not understanding acronyms.

I am trying to write my annual review...bit annoyed at myself as have worked bloody hard all year...up to about 4 weeks ago. I am sure 'taking my foot off the pedal' will be raised at my appraisal tomorrow :(

vallinnapod · 18/05/2011 15:48

Was meant to add - Asda Direct is great value. I was a bit Hmm as thought it would be shoddy quality (harsh feeling cotton etc) but seems great. Obviously not baby tested yet! Got 7 bodysuits, 8 sleepsuits, scratch mitts and a padded jacket thing for £25

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 16:24

no, go on, what's MC? I can't work it out. Confused

nickelbabe · 18/05/2011 16:24

Mothercare - got it.

that's not a standard acronym, naughty [stern]

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 18/05/2011 17:48

I knew I'd cause trouble with my lazy typing.

cowboylover · 18/05/2011 22:34

Nickel I recommend the bra extender things as well because I would be fine in the morning but sure they would get tighter as the day went on! Don't go to a specific baby shop for them or anything tho as they are only about £1ish in the haberdashers ect.

I love the Asda stuff vanilla and only washed once so far and put in the cupboard but really soft and a nice selection. Does help that I like to sneak a few baby items in with the weekly shop on DHs card Smile

Exciting with the tickets TTL I have had a few meltdowns but doesn't seam to be any pattern so you will be fine for ages now!

COAAF yes I agree they are super expensive so you may have just saved a fortune!

I slept super well last night as well so no good on the full moon for me. Gutted really as DH is going back to work tomorrow so home alone and I know it's pathetic but I don't want to be! Will see what the MW says tomorrow if there's any progress!

takethatlady · 19/05/2011 08:07

Thanks for the hug nickel and the meltdown solidarity cowboy :) Feeling like a normal human again today. Well, a normal, waddling human with another human kicking my insides to shreds Grin. Had weird baby dreams about odd births and talking babies though, so craziness beckons ...

Shock and Grin at the mc/MC mix-up! And the 'TT tix' thing. Sorry! :) It wasn't my tickets though I now have an email saying they've been dispatched. It was a present from my friend who was my bridesmaid but can't make the baby shower my mum's throwing me this weekend - three lovely puppet/board books - one a finger puppet book of the Hungry Caterpillar, and two hand puppet books of this squidgy little rabbit :) Very cute and such a nice surprise :)

Ooooh have fun at Glee vallinna! DH has done his utmost to destroy my ability to watch Glee (funny how he's suddenly interested in taking me out/cooking me dinner when TV programmes he hates are on Grin) but I reckon it's perfect breastfeeding-boxsetting material ...

vallinnapod · 19/05/2011 10:26

Are any of you lovely viroids in or near Brum and fancy going to the Baby Show? Got two free tickets yesterday but can't get there now :(

nickelbabe · 19/05/2011 10:30

I'm not sure about the bra needing to be extended across the back - it feels tight, but it still slips up a lot (i'm very fussy) - the cups are definitely getting smaller though (oh no, my humoungous lead-weights are getting bigger.... Hmm )
Grin
it's okay- my sister sent me a couple of extenders - so when I need them, I'm already prepared. She told me they're the most important piece of equipment I'll need! Grin

Fabulous books - I think I know which rabbit ones you mean, and you can never go wrong with the fingerpuppet VHC - it's one of my best-sellers.

Thank you muchly to KateePie - my bag of clothes arrived today, so I'll be having some fun this afternoon looking through and trying stuff on! :)

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 19/05/2011 12:00

You're welcome nickel and ta for the PM, made me chuckle Grin hope something fits!

nickelbabe · 19/05/2011 12:05
Grin
KateeHasABunInHerOven · 19/05/2011 12:15

Knitting the cutest tweedy baby cardigan, will keep me occupied on the train this afternoon Smile why do babies get the best clothes? If I was clever I would try and size it up, but would probably be disastrous! here for some piccies of one's other people have done already from the same pattern

nickelbabe · 19/05/2011 12:17

you're right, that really is a cute pattern :)

It would be hard to size up, because of the way our bodies change shape. that's a shame.
You'd have to make your own brand new pattern from scratch.

nickelbabe · 19/05/2011 12:20

there are some nice chunky patterns here
I liek the one 9379 (stripy) and 9353 (purple)

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 19/05/2011 12:20

Arrrrrrgh, too scared! I can do socks from scratch.... Grin

vallinnapod · 19/05/2011 13:40

I am impressed Katee! I too am knitting. Am making a blanket which will consist of a number of squares sewn together by my mum. I am utterly crap not so good so my poor Mum has to keep picking up stitches for me. And on our trip to Scotland, a lovely old lady sitting next to me had to sort out some mess I had gotten myself into Grin

Those peeps using reusable nappies - this month's Mother and Baby has a send away offer for a Bumgenius Newborn nappy. Youjust pay £3.95 postage.

Pregnancy hormones are realy getting the better of me today. I put my top on the wrong way round this morning, then got out on the 6th floor at work (work on the 3rd) and finally cried on the bus reading a heart wrenching article in the Daily Fail on a poor woman who terminated her severely disabled unborn child.
