New thread here ladies.

Again, many thanks to Frakk for the inspired title Smile

Do you think this thread will be the last ante-natal one for the April 11 crew? Or will I be the last one standing and having to start a new thread and talking to myself?! Hmm

wouldn't be missing much weather-wise as even the tulips are staying closed! sigh I'm tired of the stop start and no sleep. Fraser is now awake and dog is hopping about.

JollySergeantJackrum · 23/04/2011 07:54

Baby Harris James was born at 2319 on April 21st assisted by forceps. He weighed in at 8lb 3oz.

Will post details of birth on post natal thread when I have time as it's not for the fainthearted. Baby very well although I feel like I've been hit by a train.

We're working on breastfeeding and fingers crossed it seems okay so far.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/04/2011 08:55

Welcome Harris (lovely name btw) and I hope you start to feel more human soon JollySergeant, sounds like you've had a hard time of it so take care.

No baby here, although a couple of hours of on/off cervix bashing (the baby's head, not dh's!! Wink ) went on last night which is a bit of a first for ages, so at least the baby is thinking about getting in a good position and coming out at some point!

I looked at the Coco Bloom when pg with ds2 and um'd and ah'd for ages. If I didn't have a perfectly adequate chair already I would have bought it. I also love the highchair they do - no good if it's any good, but it is soooo stylish.

Just a quick message to say that our baby Oliver arrived in the world as planned on Wednesday 20th via c-section. He's perfect, 3 kg 800 grams and 52 cm tall :) We're over the moon of course and I'm recovering well, got discharged yesterday. Now feeling pretty good but the day after the section was painful! My first trip to the loo ended up me being wheel-chaired back to my hospital bed and an extra shot of morphine Blush

Will catch up on the thread soon, congratulations to everyone else who have already had their little ones!

MrsWajs · 23/04/2011 10:49

Congrats jsj love the name!! Hope you're not too sore after your forceps delivery.

Well my pains have tailed off again but still getting them occaisionally so not sure what to think now. Going to go to hen do (its an all day thing) and probably just get dp to pick me up at tea time. The hen would be upset if i missed it and tbh honest so would i. Everyone will keep a close eye on me i'm sure and i'm not far from home if anything happens. Hoping it'll take my mind of the stop starting if nothing else. Maybe baby just wants to arrive on her due date which is tomorrow!!
Congrats to sats and baby oliver too, also love the name - it was another one of ours for a boy.

Will check in with you all later.

kittycatcat · 23/04/2011 11:13

Congrats Sats lovely name

JenAT · 23/04/2011 11:49

More babies! conratulations to jsj on the birth of Harris and sats* on the birth of Oliver.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/04/2011 12:46

Congratulations on the birth of Oliver Sats.

They're coming thick and fast now Smile

Have had lots of lower bump and cervix pains again this morning, am pleased this baby has decided to at least start getting ready to come Smile

Good idea to go to the Hen do MrsW, you will know when you are in labour, you may even be in the latent phase now but that can be days. You're better off going out and doing something (if you feel like it) than waiting at home thinking 'is this it?'. Because when it comes to it you will know.

MIL's surgery slot has been bumped so she may not get operated on today. That's the 4th day in a roof she's put off, she is staying really quite calm, I would be going nut-so. It's not lack of surgeons or theatres, it's a lack of anaethetists in the hospital, it's a chuffing great place as well.

More babies! Congrats JSJ and Sats! Look forward to reading your birth stories on the other side!

I think my birth story won't be written for a while yet. Lactulose got bowels working through the night, but not a hint of anything else. Still losing bits of my plug, but I don't think that counts for much.

MrsWajs enjoy your hen do. Wish the bride lots of love and luck for the future.

Arch I think ceilidh dancing would end me just now! I need to sit down after climbing the stairs!! It's rubbish for your DH, I know how it feels working under your ability and worth. Thats what I've had to do moving here from Aberdeen, we always knew babies were on the cards though so i just plugged on as it was too good and opportunity for DH to turn down. And my job is bareable (if you delete the last 6 months or so from memory) so I will probably go back for a couple of days a week just to keep my sanity. DH is civil service but fortunatly they are not having to make redundancies to make cuts. But he has been effected by the pay freeze. It's not the end of the world, and there are lots of less fortunate people out there just now. I really feel for anyone affected.

Looks like it's a day of sport for me! Man U game on currently and DH appears to have settled himself on the sofa! Joy of Joys!!

lucielooo · 23/04/2011 13:16

Hello everyone baby George arrived on Monday 18th April weighing 7lb 13oz by C-section. Sorry it's taken me so long to update will be back on with the full story on the postnatal thread but we're good and George is thriving! I haven't had a chance to look at the posts inbetween but hope you're all doing well :)

kittycatcat · 23/04/2011 13:50

Yay congrats lucie

ecuse · 23/04/2011 14:53

Congratulations, lucie, sats and jsj! Very pleased to hear you and the babies are all doing well, sorry to those of you that had a hard time.

MrsW, enjoy the hen do, but I'm with arch and lis today: don't think I'm going any further than the front door.

I am SO irritable today. Everything, up to and including the cat threading lovingly through my legs, is annoying me. I think I need to take myself into a dark room where other people are not. Funny how my mood cycles round like this. Yesterday I was full of the joys of spring and not feeling too bothered about not having gone into labour yet. Today I want to rip the head off of everyone.

ecuse · 23/04/2011 14:59

AND it's 27 degrees here today. It's too hot to be 9 months pregnant.

bellastella · 23/04/2011 15:21

congratulations all the new mummies!

40+5 here today. had another sweep yesterday where my cervix was given a good report but didn't produce anything. have even had helpful sex twice but nothing. OH can't understand why i don't want any foreplay but quite frankly i can't be arsed to do anything other than be on my hands and knees for the final two minutes!!

i'm quite happy going overdue but other peoples impatience for my baby to appear is starting to grate on me. lovely sunny weather though. went to a beautiful water garden yesterday, it even had a chilling out effect on the DC Smile

NotAnotherNewNappy · 23/04/2011 16:37

Well done Lucie [busmile]

chipsahoynicki · 23/04/2011 16:55

I have been a lurker the last few weeks, sorry for the lack of messages. Massive congratulations to all those who have had their babies, what gorgeous names!

My DS arrived very quickly on Thursday 21st April. Waters broke at 7pm, i was fully dilated in an hour and husband had to call 999 when i felt the urge to push, baby Isaac was delivered by a paramedic on our bed at 8.09pm.
Compared to a 24hr labour with my first, it all has been quite a shock. Oh well, it was nice to stay home after and for it all to be over.

Best of luck to all those waiting

kittycatcat · 23/04/2011 17:43

Wowzers! Congrats chips

SarahJinx · 23/04/2011 20:02

An hour and 9 minutes?! Didn't have any idea that happened, bug congrats to you Chips and also Lucie, JSJ and sats

So I went shopping today, purchased nothing but my DP got me a lovely sun chair to flop about in, love him. Am at that point where I can't lay down for long, can't sit, want to walk about but get hugely tired and achey, can't win basically. Baby feels like it's trying to crawl out of the front of the bump and the support band could do with a couple of hoists attached to the sides - best £12.99 I ever spent though.

MrsW the lactulose shouldn't be causing cramps, that's why it is the er laxative of choice for pregnant ladies, it's a 'softener' rather than something to kick start your lazy bowels....it totally rules though, I've been a twice a day gal since 16 weeks Wink

Ecuse 27 degrees here too, goreous, cept if you're massively preg and have abso nothing in your wardrobe for this kind of weather so have to sit outside in vest and pants for at least some of the day.....

Happy easter all, wonder if we'll get any little bunnies tomorrow?

MrsWajs · 24/04/2011 00:17

Well girls think this is me on my way!! Cramps have been irregular but consistent since this morning. Went on hen do and grimaced my way through a few pains but made it til 6.30pm!
Decided to phone MW at about 8pm to enquire about whether this was it or whether I was imagining things, they said yes it probably was and did I want to be examined to establish what stage of the game we were at so went in and had a VE at 9pm - MW could only get a fingertip in my cervix but said it was forward and changing length but was still a bit thick. Baby is also back to back :( which is probably contributing to the back pain!!

So basically body is heading in the right direction but it's a guessing game as to how long I have to go yet, could be days, could be hours! Pains are coming more frequently now though and a are a lot more painful so will wait and see how much more I can bear!

There was another woman in when I went for VE and we could hear her screaming!! By the time I left she'd had her baby!! MW said she's been in about 2 hours before in the same situation as me - i.e nothing really happening and that was her back in giving birth so fingers crossed it works out for me!!

Going to try and get to sleep now so might catch up with you in the morning or might not!! Congrats to those who have posted birth announcements sice tis morning, sorry being a bit self absorbed at the mo!!x

LisMcA · 24/04/2011 00:30

EEEEKKKKK! Can i join you on the contracting but going nowhere fast couch! Have had to huff my way through a few ouchy backache episodes tonight. It's worse when I lie down so sleep is looking uplikely for me tonight. never mind!

MrsWajs · 24/04/2011 02:14

Snap Lis bed is a no go area, pains much worse when lying down so am up again and got TENS machine on. Its really weird as in between contractions I'm totally fine but when they come it's SORE!

kittycatcat · 24/04/2011 04:03

Oh good luck ladies. Fingers crossed for you both.

architien · 24/04/2011 04:43

Ladies, thinking of you both. MrsW with back to back try stay active you can still get baby to move into an optimal position, lean forward using your contractions and gravity to get the baby to rotate their back clockwise to the left and then towards your tummy. Lis you use that wonderful natural determination to get exactly what you need in the birth, only move your pelvis and legs to what you feel ok with, you are the only one who can tell what is safe for your ligaments with your pain barometer.

It sounds like you're both on your way and I hope I wont be long in following. Another night of period pains and sporadic contractions here.

Contratulations Lucie Sats and Chips looking forward to reading your birth stories.

kittycatcat · 24/04/2011 05:27

Q ladies. I've hardly slept a wink. My piles are causing me agony despite regularly applying anusol. I also feel a bit sick and woke to a painful shooting pain earlier and am having the odd twinge. Could dilation make the piles worse? I'm close to tears amd frustrated at not being able to sleep either.
