KnackeredCow · 04/02/2012 18:45

Kitty thanks for kind words. Much appreciated. How you doing these days? Are you still on mat leave?

Keziah had a look on your other thread and I'm really saddened to see what you're going through at the moment. Thinking of you at this time.

Gosh so looking like a big baby for you. Really pleased to hear that physically things are great x

boba82 · 07/02/2012 19:30

keziah Hope things are working out ok? I had a look at your other thread but to be honest a lot of it went over my head but I think I got the jist. I'm sure all will be ok. Sounds like you might be getting a 9lbr too?! x x

KC good luck for this cycle. FX for you. x x

Keziahhopes · 08/02/2012 17:14

Thanks boba.

My lovely obstetrician says she thinks I should be induced at 37 weeks, as I am physically well right now and last infection I had was very serious and as I am classed as high risk birth she thinks the time is soon to deliver (36 weeks tomorrow). Frustratinly she is on holiday just when will need her for birth, but she wrote lots of notes. Can't have epidurals or any needles in back due to infection risk, they keen for me to have natural delivery as otherwise a general anaesethic which is far from ideal and more expensive obviously. So time to bounce on my ball I think!!

KC hope all going well with plans for cycle.

boba82 · 08/02/2012 22:23

I spent lots of time on ball keziah and had very straight forward birth. I hope you get the birth you want & deserve after all your hard times. Are you excited that you will have a baby in a week or is the thought quite daunting? Are you having boy? Sorry my mushy baby brain can't remember! Grin x

Keziahhopes · 08/02/2012 23:18

Hi, yes it is a boy. Am excited but will miss my bump, as sort of lost the last few weeks due to various things. Am concerned for if things don't progress well as limited options and I know I have to have a very medicalised birth, with constant monitoring of baby - so if the 2 wireless monitors are in use in the other labour rooms I will be attached to wires and a bed (and 18 rooms can ask for them!!) At least I know I will need a variety of venflons, what they are for and so on so a completely intervention free birth it will not be. They have put my notes in the high risk file, so I just hope that means I will not be used by trainee or junior dr's as a chance to prod and poke me more than I really need to be. Dh's job is to ask each professional their rank and what they are doing and whether it is for my and baby's benefit or if not why are they doing xyz!! He is not assertive, but that is his job so he will have to do it - as I know my birth plan is interesting from a medical point of view (not my birth plan, but the consultants!!)

Hope Zach is growing well and sleeping more for you xx

boba82 · 10/02/2012 15:50

I'm not sure why but I was hooked up during labour to the fh rate monitor. I did most of it on hands & knees then side so didn't interfere but they were bugging me as nurse had to hold them in place. Feel excited for you keziah! Do you have a date yet?

Zach napping just now (thank God!) and is doing new stuff every day so is lots of fun but tiring!!!

Keziahhopes · 15/02/2012 00:19

Hands and knees sounds good Boba. Had my last appointment with my consultant tonight - she saw me when on labour ward duty and booked induction for me next Wed. She is on holiday all next week so said that I would not be in by the time she is back at work (and don't know if she is on clinic duty or labour ward anyway as she didn't say). Really sad she not on duty when I will be induced - because she has done everything to ensure is helpful, even though not seen her that much. I will have my own labour room for induction, rather than be in the 4bed bay on labour ward, to help prevent infection; she said it would tie up a room for a considerable amount of time, but that was their problem and not mine. Done so nicely. Would have been induced tonight if cervix open - but it wasn't, but is short and soft.

Strange, was all prepared for induction and now I have another week. Better for the baby though I think as will be nearly 38 weeks then.

how is everyone else doing?

glad Zach is enjoying exploring his new world - but it does sound very tiring!

boba82 · 16/02/2012 23:08

How exciting keziah! Good news about having your own room too. Bet this'll be the longest week of your life?! Grin

Ilovekittyelise · 16/02/2012 23:10

Hi keziah im doing good.

I was induced at 39+3. i had been in having pessaries for 3 days and they did nothing to ripen my cervix. my waters were broken at 1cm and a long labour ensued. plenty of people have good inductions and plenty bad, i would advise an early epidural if pessaries dont precipitate labour and you need water broken plus drip (which at

Keziahhopes · 17/02/2012 15:11

Ilovekitty - oh I forgot you were induced. Sadly I can't have an epidural at all, due to infection and immune issues which I accept, however think with a long induction it would be really helpful - so am doing everything I can for spontaneous start before next wed!!

Yes, you are right with social care involvement.... all due to a label or 2 I got in 2010 to allow funding for a group of therapy to happen, that I never did or was involved with. Even the top person in the city/county in mental health has admitted that. But my psychiatrist (seen about 2 times in 2011!!!) will not change the label, as that admits they are at fault. So so so angry. I had a few weeks of very low moods, struggling and this was when they said I wasn't going to cope etc. But as soon as I dipped my dh stopped going to work, but they will not listen to that Sad. I am much better now and this is the first winter in 5 years with no AD's so I am really happy about that. My issue is all anxiety due to the fact I have PTSD due to previous trauma and birth isn't going to be easy for me - the fact I can only have Entonox and a pethidine type pain relief at all means I am more anxious!! Thankfully I have gone from being angry/tearful to determined to prove them wrong!!

Ilovekitty thank you for your kind words about me and baby - almost made me cry, and that is just the kind of reassurance I need right now. In my job I am totally trusted and they know all labels and involvements. Bless you!

Ilovekittyelise · 17/02/2012 15:42

oh wow - sounds SO similar to my situation - also anxiety precipitated by PTSD which was mis-labelled as something else. fortunately for me that labelling took place overseas and by the time i got back here, was all changed.

can you not have an ELCS under general or are you really averse to that?

im sorry you have had such a horrific time of it, from so many angles, but im sure by this point you have more strength than most, and will find the early baby days a breeze: everyone thought i was the number one candidate for PND and i had just been through so much over the past few years that a newborn baby was way down the list of difficult stuff i have dealt with!

take care, im always here if you want to chat xxx

Keziahhopes · 18/02/2012 12:46

ILove - glad things changed for you due to being overseas etc etc....

The anaesthetist and obstetrician really advised against an ELCS, they don't even want me to have one if labour is difficult and prefer forceps due to infection risk and healing due to my immune system issues. It could introduce more serious infections into my body and spinal injections of any kind cannot happen so it would have to be a general anaesthetic anyway.. I trust my obstetrician, though sadly she will not be on duty at all in coming 2 weeks, so hope those on duty actually read her notes!!!

So glad you have had a great time with your little one. I am hoping it is the same for me. I think if I stay in hospital for a few days (if they allow that rather than one night, not that I particularly want to stay longer!) and prove to the hospital staff I can cope that will be recorded and be helpful evidence. xxx

Lychees · 22/02/2012 08:29

Keziah, wishing you all the very best today.

KnackeredCow · 22/02/2012 20:15

Just popping on to join Lychees in wishing Keziah the very best for today. Hope things are progressing nicely!

I'm doing another fresh IVF cycle and scheduled for egg collection tomorrow. Crossing my fingers for a good outcome.

Ilovekittyelise · 23/02/2012 20:03

OMG forgot it was keziah's induction yesterday. if mine was anything to go by (early, but not as early as hers) it might be a good few days before we hear anything. if you are out there keziah, thinking of youxxx

KC thinking of you too, everything is crossed, wishing you the very best of luck xxx

boba82 · 24/02/2012 20:27

Sorry I've been AWOL ladies.

Keziah I hope you have a lovely wee son by now? Sorry in my late well wishes - I feel like a bad MN friend Blush Seriously hope everything has gone the way you wanted - you deserve it!!!! x x x x

KC hope egg collection went well?

Lychees how you getting on?

Lychees · 25/02/2012 12:13

KC, I hope EC was smoothly and you have had further good news these past few days.

Keziah, can't wait to hear the announcement of the arrival of baby boy Keziah!

Boba, I'm good, thanks. I'm now 20+4 and had my 20 week scan two days ago. All is well with beanie who was very wriggly but I'll be having another scan at 32 weeks as my placenta is a bit low-lying. If it doesn't move, it'll be a c-section for me but I'm not too bothered as long as baby is delivered safely. We found out that we are having a little sister for DS so we are over the moon. Having one of each is an absolute dream. Hope all is well with you.

KnackeredCow · 25/02/2012 18:55

Just checking in to see if there is any news from Keziah? Hopefully she'll be snuggling up with her little boy by now!

Lychees Glad to hear that your pregnancy is progressing nicely.

Thanks for good wishes everybody. We got 16 eggs this time, but only 11 were of good quality. The clinic said this is often the case when you make more eggs. It was a bit disappointing as we had 12 healthy eggs during our first cycle.

We were further disappointed as only 7 fertilised normally (although all 11 did fertilise, some just weren't viable.) Last cycle we had 11 normal fertilisations. However, the embryologist told us not to be downhearted and she was right. The overnight attrition rate from day 1 to day 2 has been lower this time. We had 6 embryos this morning and last cycle we were down to 8 by this point. So embryologist said we're probably looking at a day 5 transfer again.

Waiting for call tomorrow to see how many we have at day three and to find out their quality.

Feeling a bit sore after EC this time though so spent the past two days sleeping / lying on the sofa making DH wait on me hand and foot

Ilovekittyelise · 26/02/2012 20:16

Hi guys

Have checked in about a million times today to see if any news from keziah....remembering back to my own (hideous...) induction, it took 3 days and then when i got home i just kind of stayed away from the interweb awhile; i went in tuesday morning and had sam friday morning; she went in wednesday morning so in reality she may not even be out yet. if you are there we are thinking of you!

KC also awaiting news on your little eggies and have everything crossed for you.

lychees glad everything is well and congrats on the one of each situation thats wonderful (although i have decided i want another boy next time i just LOVE my little bearsy!!!)

alls well here. a great leap forward for mankind - i finally had the balls to weigh my gigantic self, so i can actually see whether iv made progress. 48 pounds to lose tho - eek. not good! but at least the nice weather makes going out for a walk pleasant and enjoyable for a change!

boba82 · 01/03/2012 15:33

How's everyone doing?

Desperate to hear from keziah!!

Lychees · 02/03/2012 13:53

I keep checking in too for news from Keziah. I hope that it all went well and that she is just getting used to having a newborn home.

With DS, I started induction on a Wednesday morning. 12 hours later ... nothing but there was also no room in the birthing suite so I was sent to the ward to relax before having a second pessary on Thursday PM resulting in still nothing more than mild occasional contractions. Then, I was hooked up to the oxytocin drip on Friday AM and gave birth on Saturday AM. It was all fine but I was in hospital a lot longer than anticipated.

KC, hope all is well and you are happily PUPO.

Nothing to report here but hope you ladies are all doing well.

Ilovekittyelise · 04/03/2012 10:27

thinking of you too kc xxx
hope keziahs ok has anyone heard anything?

boba82 · 04/03/2012 13:31

I'm starting to worry about keziah - hope everything is ok? Confused

KnackeredCow · 04/03/2012 13:33

Hello everyone. I'm doing OK. I had two day five blastocysts successfully transferred on Tuesday. The quality was good, but not as good as in my fresh cycle. That said, the embryologist said we still had a good chance. So we're waiting now. Booked in for a blood test on Thursday to find out if it's worked.

Waiting to hear news from Keziah too...

Ilovekittyelise · 04/03/2012 14:32

im worrying a bit too, but then, i think after S was born I didnt logon for a while. hope shes ok.

KC will be thinking of you on thursday.

how are you doing boba? your little one must be gigantic too?!
