We have got to know each other pretty well during our TTC journey's so have created this thread on Chocciechips advice (hope she doesn't mind!!) so we can all contintue to support one another through our pregnancies.

Welcome................ Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
boba82 · 12/09/2011 12:00

Why will you lose your reputation keziah? Because you'll have to reduce hours? x

WaterKelpie · 12/09/2011 12:52

choccie, birth seems like a long way away for me at the moment, but I am also hoping that baby goes overdue and I get as many days possible. We have a crazy housing situation at the moment, which means that we are temporarily moving in with in-laws and will hopefully be back in our own place after Christmas/end Jan. Baby is due 7 Feb, so I'm really hoping it stays put and doesn't make an early appearance!

Keziah, I hope things go well with work. There are always going to be gossipers at every workplace, so don't worry too much about it. Hopefully it will be managed in a sensitive way and you won't have any more sleepless nights.

Speaking of which, I have just bought one of those funny-shaped pillows, as I haven't been sleeping well and have been waking with muscle aches in my pelvis and hips. I am trying it out for the first time tonight! Excitement!

boba, are you ready to go then? Have you got all the baby bits? I can totally understand you feeling bored. There's a big anticipation to have everything ready for a certain date, and then it's just waiting for the birth. I am completely over-organised, so mostly likely would be twiddling my thumbs for the last few months, having bought everything. Fortunately, my stupid housing situation (see above) will make everything a last minute rush, in terms of settling in to the house and nursery, so that should keep me busy (and completely stressed out).

Keziahhopes · 12/09/2011 17:39

boba - yes, because that is the nature of gossipy staff - grrrr.... happened to one other teacher last year! Anyway, have pre-empted things and spoken to my line manager today before meeting tomorrow; he had several miscarriages before their child born so was ok.

Kelpie - gosh, hope house all ok for you on time. I too have bought one of those funny pillows - I love it Smile, although took a few nights to get used to. Apart from clothes all we have bought so far. Can you buy things or will you just order everything to be delivered after Christmas?

boba82 · 14/09/2011 12:46

keziah how did your meeting go?

Well got a sweep from obstetrician today so keep everything crossed for me that it works!

Keziahhopes · 14/09/2011 13:03

boba - glad you had a helpful obstetrician, all the best for the coming days.

The meeting with the top person was awful, he asked if we were "going to keep it", said it had to go to a meeting on Monday pm. Mm... not what the law says, but I just went to my line manager and he went to the person in charge of timetable and hours and by 1pm it was all sorted. Except they had no one to cover me so till Friday no change. After that I hope my dr's note (that should have taken affect on Tuesday) is actually listened to. I hope people don't think I am skiving etc.

Oh - when did you do your NCT classes (no other option here) if you did them? There are 2 sets of dates near me, one a bit early, one finishing a bit late I think (at 37 weeks for me) - on a midweek night and Saturday's over a few weeks here. Not sure which to put our name down for (they book up early apparently here as no real NHS antenatal care.)

boba82 · 14/09/2011 17:41

keziah I just went to NHS classes at my health centre. They were in July and people there were due between end of August through to end of October and one lady wasn't due until December so I would just go to whichever block suits you best. Do you think you will be induced early or are you at risk of early labour? I would still manage an evening class at the moment I think (as long as I'd had an afternoon snooze!) Glad you got things sorted out but I would complain about the attitude of the top person, it's 2011 FFS! x

Keziahhopes · 14/09/2011 19:13

Boba - thanks for that. NHS around here is quite hard to get, I don't fit the criteria as not a single parent or under 18... they are short staffed! Hence I looked into NCT dates. There is a high likely I will have to be early as I have an unusual immune issue which means that if I need a blood transfusion (and I have a blood clotting issue or 2 also) then I can't have a normal blood transfusion, but need my blood type with washed red blood cells, getting rid of the IgA naturally found in blood. This has to be kept in for me for operations etc, is not easy to get quickly - so it all depends on how long they can store it. If I am on time all is ok, but not many people are - being early is dangerous as they will not have it ready etc etc.... So I sort of see a timed earlier induction.

Yes, this male is not quite in this century.. I did complain to the Deputy who was appalled. But he could make life more difficult for me, he was already questioning my health as to whether I could return (!) so I think I will leave it to be honest as I don't want more hassle and stress right now.

Ilovekittyelise · 14/09/2011 19:15

Hi guys!

Finally I'm on, sorry for the delay! I went in to be induced on Tuesday 6th. Given a 24 hour pessary to ripen cervix. It did very little. I was then 'rested' on the Wednesday and given a shorter pessary on Thursday. Nada. My waters were broken at only 1cm dilated (not good) and put on syntocin drip. After a LONG labour Samuel was dragged out with forceps at 11.32 on Friday morning weighing 7 pounds 9. he had a full head of dark brown hair and giant blue eyes and is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. Despite having episiostomy i tore very badly so im a bit uncomfortable and on lots of antibiotics etc.

sorry to make this post so 'me me me' i will catch up on everyone elses news when i have a little time. doesnt look like bobabean has hatched? xxx

Loup23 · 15/09/2011 09:44

Yay for kitty huge congratulations, feel better soon x

boba82 · 15/09/2011 10:24

Congratulations kitty - sorry to hear you had a time of it though. Enjoy your wee boy!

I wondered if your immune problem would effect things keziah. You will hopefully get a clearer picture of things as you meet more with the obstetrician though I suspect. I understand how you feel re the stress, just can't believe people can still have these prehistoric opinions Shock

Hi loup how's things with you? I've kind of lost track of the old thread, lots of new faces. Hope you doing ok? x

Still NOTHING here, aaaaargh! Angry

Loup23 · 15/09/2011 12:44

Hi boba how frustrating, I thought mini boba would be here by now... When will they induce you?

Well still nothing here too but in a different way, was 7dpo but ff just changed it to 5dpo Angry temps only just over coverline so that's confusing ff and think it's a duff cycle, try try again!

Look forward to hearing more arrival news! Good luck x

Keziahhopes · 15/09/2011 12:54

Huge Congrats Ilovekitty - your little boy sounds just adorable!! And I love the name Samuel. Sorry he was too comfy in there - and that you are in such pain, I hope you heal very quickly.

Boba thanks - the obstetrician was so reassuring; she will scan me herself at 20 weeks and they will do a normal growth scan at 28 weeks and 32 and 37/40 so I feel reassurred they will keep more of an eye on me after 20 weeks than in first half of pregnancy. If I get any infection straight into hospital for IV drugs, so at least I know what to do now, have phone numbers etc and won't be thought of as paranoid. Have to see a consultant anaesethetist just to be prepared for all eventualities so have lots of appointments to go to now Grin

Bobabean is too happy and comfy too!!

boba82 · 15/09/2011 14:59

They are not keen to induce me loup but have hospital again on Wednesday so will find out then. You never know - I'll keep fx for you this month anyway. x

keziah I think we've had 7 NHS scans in total and it's really nice seeing your baby growing so try and feel lucky for the extra monitoring, that's how I've tried to look a it anyway. Although hopefully they don't scaremonger you like they did me with the huge baby comments! x

I keep saying in bigbrother man voice "baby you have been evicted. . ." but that isn't working either . . . .Sad

farfallarocks · 15/09/2011 15:26

KittyElise huge congratulations, he sounds gorgeous and I hope you are recovering ok, you poor thing!

boba best of luck with everything, keeping all crossed it starts soon for you!

WaterKelpie · 18/09/2011 08:06

ilovekitty, a huge congratulations! I hope you are healing well and having a wonderful time getting to know Samuel!

keziah, I cannot believe the comments you received from your manager! But I'm glad thst everything was sorted out eventually. I hope this means less stress for you for the rest of your pregnancy.

boba, I look forward to hearing your baby news - any day now!

We have our 20 week scan on Friday. I have been feeling baby move quite regularly so feeling more relaxed, in general, but still very tired! We are buying baby stuff anyway. We van store it at our temporary home, which is great, and it will ne accessible if baby comes early.

WaterKelpie · 18/09/2011 08:07

Loads of spellng mistakes, sorry. typing on my phone!

Keziahhopes · 18/09/2011 13:22

Kelpie what have you chosen? I don't want to get anything till our 20 week mark either, but not sure what is "good" and what is a waste or not necessary.

boba82 · 18/09/2011 16:34

Exciting times waterkelpie! We went and ordered the big stuff after our 20 week scan - makes it all a bit more real. Are you going to find out the sex on Friday?

Keziah I found the mumsnet review section quite useful when choosing stuff. We have just got the immediate stuff required and are leaving things like highchair etc until baby is a bit older.

Still no change here. Have another sweep by obstetrician booked for Wednesday and have a feeling I'll be seeing that appointment Sad It's all I think about atm & I bet that's not helping move things along any quicker Hmm. . . .

Keziahhopes · 18/09/2011 18:24

Yes, think dh and I will have a good look at reviews and products in a few weeks, which makes it more real. boba sorry your little one is too comfy where it is!

boba82 · 21/09/2011 14:37

Well things have finally started. Been having regular contractions since 2pm yesterday but still went to see obstetrician today just in case false alarm. 1cm dilated and rear waters have broken. Back home now but booked in for 11.30 am tomorrow in case things don't progress and they'll get things going. Exciting but I'm a bit scared now! Got my TENS machine on the go so fx!

Keziahhopes · 21/09/2011 16:40

Ooh encouraging news boba glad things started naturally but they will assist you if you don't progress soon enough. All the best - let us know about your little one when you have time!!

StormBird · 23/09/2011 23:05

Hello Ladies,

Just wanted to remember myself to you all (like you'd forget LOL)!!

I'm still lurking but have very little time to post regularly now I'm a mummy! I do need to catch up on the thread so I apologise for not name checking etc.

Well done to Ilovekitty and I hope bobabean has arrived now boba and your birthing experience was a good one!

Motherhood is fabulous, exhausting and amazing all at the same time. George is now 8weeks and is gurgling and smiling and screaming with colic but all is well and I wouldn;t swap it for the world.

I hope you are all well and I will hopefully get the chance to catch up on the thread this weekend (fingers crossed).

Good luck to anyone with iminent appointments/babies to birth!!
