cherry I love greys anatomy. It has dramatic storylines & hot men. Admittedly its not particularly challenging but to be honest I don't think I can cope with anything too serious at the moment. I have series 1 of mad men to watch next, hopefully I will like that.

toria Lying on the bathroom floor doesn't sound good. Hope that doesn't happen again. Glad you have some reassuring nausea though (pregnancy is weird - you wouldn't ever wish nausea on anyone except a pg women in the first trimester!)

mumsnerves I still feel like I ages to wait! The last few weeks/days are going slower that the first trimester! I keep getting strong BH's two or three times a day with period pain but as they have being going on for a few days now clearly are just my body getting ready rather than the sign of labour I first thought. It's weird at this stage. Part of me is desperate to meet my baby and have him/her safely in my arms, the other part of me is terrified of the birth and the early newborn days/exhaustion.

homebound! Glad you came back to let us and congrats on your baby boy. I hope you are all recovered from the EMCS now. Would you share his name?

bunny, oneof8 & mumsnerves Thanks for the advice on swings/bouncers. I think I will leave it until LO is here and try before I buy. I didn't realise they may not all be suitable from birth when they advertise that they are!

slowshow Glad most people have been happy for you. I'm afraid the questions continue all the way through as to the jibes about sleep deprivation. I think you should ignore the miserable friend and get excited with everyone else! We still need your EDD for the list by the way.

superpenguin Labour vibes being sent you way!

superpenguin sending hurry up baby vibes your way!

Good news on the conception thread, truffkin got her BFP :)

slowshow · 12/03/2011 12:51

Thanks for the reminder halo, my EDD is September 15th.

Fantastic news about Truffkin Grin

kurlyvoice · 13/03/2011 08:40

Just a quick message to announce my naughty leapfrogging of the list - Alastair arrived yesterday morning weighing 4lbs13oz after I developed pre-eclampsia and had to be induced 5 weeks early. He's doing really well in SCBU and is absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure my blood pressure will start to sort itself out soon!

haloflo · 13/03/2011 09:09

Oh wow, I didn't expect that announcement kurly but huge congratulations. That must have been scary having him so early but glad to hear he is doing well. Am so pleased for you!

Truffkin Congratulations on your BFP!!! Hope you join us soon.

superpenguin Come on baby!

39 weeks today here and nothing happening, oh well guess I'll have to keep relaxing for a little while longer.

And another BFP! LizzymMathsWhizzy Got one this morning!

Massve congrats Kurly! A friend of ours went though something similar with her little girl who's nearly two now, very scary at the time but all's well that ends well and all that :)

Congrats also Homebound Hope you're recoverng nicely :)

Hope things get moving for you soon superpenguin

Slowshow We haven't really told anyone yet but those I have told are making similar comments. What is it about being pregnant that makes you public property?! Glad most people are happy for you though and you're out of the closet as it were Grin

Not much going on here. Still have the non-specific nausea and heartburn coming and going, and despite some very definite spotting when I overdid it on Thursday (whole other rant about bus drivers) which passed within an hour, I'm now experiencing very slight and sometmes slightly surprising twinges which I'm assuming are things moving and stretching to make way. Nothing would class as painfulk though so staying positive. No more fainting either, though have had a few dizzy spells, as such OH is on lifting, carrying and running around after me duty Grin

highheelsandequations · 13/03/2011 12:58

Wow kurly congratulations.

halo sure you'll be thankful of your relaxation time in a few days/weeks.

Back later to catch up properly but must go and wash henna out of my hair!

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 13/03/2011 16:08

LizzyMathsWhizzy - BFP 13th March - EDD TBC

I'm going to tentatively put one foot in the door of this thread, although I can't pretend I'm not scared of miscarrying again! Maybe the act of telling the internet that I am pregnant and intend to stay that way until November will have the desired effect.

Thanks Toria, seeing my name made me feel warm and fuzzy and welcome here, x

bunnygirl80 · 13/03/2011 20:59

kurly congratulations. Hope Alistair is at home with you soon

halo hope you pop soon. Don't worry about feeling like nothing's happening - I had not a single twinge until I was in full blown labour. Just felt a bit like my period was due for a couple of days and could feel William was sitting very low, but no Braxton Hicks or cramps until I was 4cm dilated!!

Congrats to the new BFPs. lizzymathswhizzy I got my BFP on the 12th March last year.....it's scary to think your EDD will be around William's first birthday Smile

pixiestix · 13/03/2011 22:38

Oh my god Kurly I wasn't expecting to read that! Grin Huge, huge congratulations on the birth of Alastair!

Congrats on your BFP Lizzy. Hoping for an uneventful and stress free pregnancy for you. Smile

cherrycobbler · 13/03/2011 23:00

just a very quick one to say huge congrats to kurly, that was a very unexpected queue jump!! must have been pretty stressful - hope he continues to do well & comes home soon. How are you feeling?

and double yay for the BFPs, very welcome lizzy, really hope you have a very smooth and trouble free nine months ahead of you :) I was terrified for the whole of the first 12 weeks (and beyond) - lots of very lovely people on here will hold your hand.

halo hope you are taking it easy! your description of greys has sold it to me - it will be on my dvd order list...

toria hope you also manage to take it a bit easy & good to hear you are staying positive. I had loads of twinging and twanging and apparently its all normal as everything makes space for the changes.

ok turns out this was not such a quick one after all!

OP posts:
haloflo · 14/03/2011 10:18

Toria Are you ok? I hope you aren't worrying too much. Spotting is very normal as are stretching pains. If you are worried then visit your GP. I had spotting at 6+3/4 ish and was referred for an early scan meaning I got to see a very reassuring heartbeat at 7 weeks. Glad to hear your OH is looking after you. I've started to really take advantage these days and ask him to get the remote control for me even if it's only just out of my arms reach and he is on the other side of the room!

lizzymathswhizzy Huge congratulations on your BFP and welcome to grads. Sorry to hear about your recent mc. I hope you are letting yourself have a excited smile. I had an early mc in May, only having one period in between successfully conceiving again . I am now due in 6 days but remember the fear all too well.

bunny I too hope I pop soon. Am getting very emotional in these last few days, a mix of nerves and excitement. Not knowing anything was happening until 4cm sounds brilliant, I hope my body is doing things without me knowing!

crazybutterflylady · 14/03/2011 12:15

Morning!
kurly lovely to hear your news, many congrats on the arrival of Alastair, he is in the best possible place. Here's hoping you can take him home soon!

truffkin and Lizzy congrats on your BFPs... we are having a veritable flurry! :)

cherry I LOVE grey's anatomy... I have only watched the last 2 seasons but I am hooked. Someone in telly addicts posted a link where you can watch it for free. Have a peek in there. I am planning on buying all the Mad Men sets for my maternity leave... can't wait! We can share them if you like! Sterlisers - one of the reasons I went for the Avent is I'd read reviews that other bottles fit in there, except really tall bottles (I think Mothercare have really tall bottles?). I bought a newborn starter set from Avent and they send different teats in there which I hadnt realised, am hoping my LO will get on with one kind or other! It was on amazon too - £12.50 for 4 bottles, 6 teats a cleaning brush and a soother. Bargain! And yup I have no idea how I am managing the early starts, by Friday I am zonked. 3 WEEKS LEFT AT WORK WOOHOOO! :)

Hi to everyone else... sorry for the rushed post, have just realised the time and I have a client lunch in 5 minutes... that will all be spent going back and forth to the loo I'm sure :)

Have a good week
x

MrsWajs · 14/03/2011 12:46

Wow, I'm off for a few days and it's all going on!!

Kurly Congratulations on baby Alistair!! That was a spectacular queue jump! Blew my amended list right out of the water!! Hope everything is going well though!

Welcome to the 2 new grads truffkin and lizzy congrats on your BFPs, hope the next few weeks fly past for you.

Halo Can't believe you only have 6 days to go til due date!! It seems to have flown by. I was 34 weeks yesterday so just have 6 weeks left, got MW appt today so really hope she tells me baby's head down and maybe even a little bit engaged!

Had a little extra appt last week as I was in to get a swab taken for thrush (glamourous!!) and the way she was rummaging around in my pelvis, I think she's definitely in the right place - according to the MW her head was "well down" - yay!! :)

Still haven't put on anymore weight in the last 2 weeks which I'm not overly worried about as bump is still definitely expanding (can tell by my clothes!!)but will mention it today all the same. Also the carpal tunnel thing is starting to get a bit worse now too, so will have to start wearing my lovely splints at night :(

Glads to say I got the thrush situation sorted out though, was able to take the pessary after all and am pretty pissed off with the GP who told me right at the beginning of my pregnancy that i wasn't allowed to!! If I'd known I could take it all those months ago it would have saved me a lot of hassle and upset!

Anyway on a brighter note, I am now on ML!! :) Still feel a bit fraudulent as I could easily have managed another week or so but hey ho!! Just need to figure out how I'm going to fill the days, think I'm one of these sad people that will really miss the structure of work and having something to get up for in the morning!!

ToriaPumpkinHead · 14/03/2011 18:07

Cherry and Halo I'm fine, really. Had a bit of a stressy ten minutes when I saw the blood but as it was literally two wipes and I wasn't in any pain it passed quickly and I'm now just looking forward to seeing the midwife on Thurs. Obviously I'll tell her everything and if she's concerned then go from there but I really am very positive, my preternatural calm has returned and is keeping me balanced Grin plus, I'm abosolutely starving, all the time, so reckon it's having a growth spurt and just trying to keep me on my toes! None of the twinges I've experienced have been painful, just a little off-putting and suprising :) And my tummy is really firm!

MrsWajs Woohoo for ML! Have a Brew glad to hear you got rid of thrush, I can't think of anything worse!

MrsWajs · 14/03/2011 21:21

Meh . . . appointment didn't go as well as I would have hoped, had glucose in my urine, fundal height was only measuring 32cms and have to have repeat bloods to check haemaglobin as I've been having palpitations. :(

Got a bit upset as really wanted everything to be normal. Now have to go back next week to re-check fundal height and urine. If I'm still measuring at 32 I'll need a growth scan and if there is further glucose in my urine I'll need a GTT!

On the plus side baby is still head down and heartbeat was fine!

mumnerves · 14/03/2011 22:38

MrsWajs sorry to hear you had some bad news but as you said on the plus side heartbeat was fine, hopefully LO will have grown abit by next week and all will be ok x

CHerrycobbler It's not that bad honest, and gets better pretty quickly. I do however now know why everyone tells you to rest lots when you're on ML!

haloflo don't be terrified of the birth, it's painful, but I can't explain it but calling it positive pain, as in you get something at the end. Also, just thi

mumnerves · 14/03/2011 22:44

nk many women go on to have multiple births so it can't be that bad! (sorry accidently pressed enter)

crazybutterflylady Just a tip, save some series boxsets for when you're breastfeeding, it makes feeds go quicker and it stops clockwatching. I found each episode was around 50 mins and just enough for a long feed to keep me occupied and LO happy :) I watched the entire six feet under the first 3 weeks of DS life and am now on Dexter season 4 :o

kurly congrats!! Hope he's home with you in your arms soon. Hope you're recovering from your shock!

lizzy congrats on the BFP and sorry to hear about your earlier MC keeping fingers crossed for you.

Can't believe we've had second set of jabs already and Sean is 12 weeks old!
Have a good week everyone

haloflo · 15/03/2011 11:37

toria Glad you are ok. Smile

mumsnerves Thank you. The fact people have more than one is helping and of course the end result. I really can't wait to find out if I'm having a girl or boy. Fingers crossed its a girl. I would love either but we can't agree on a boys name!

mrsw Congrats on starting ML Brew
Sorry yesterdays MW appointment wasn't the best start. I'm sure they are asking you to come back to be double safe and if there is something then they can help you fix it. Fingers crossed for next week. Is your baby getting bigger at each appointment, just measuring small? Do you feel your bump is bigger? It seems very inaccurate the fundus measurement with different MWs getting different measurements on the same bump on the same day. Try to enjoy your first week off - you anything nice planned?

MrsWajs · 15/03/2011 12:24

Halo I'm not really sure if baby is getting bigger as they've never said, they just say i'm measuring small but like you say different people get different measurements, it was a student MW that did it this time and i wasn't convinced that she measured me properly so trying not to worry too much! And within myself i have definitely felt that my bump is getting bigger but i've also dropped so maybe that explains the funny measurememnts, my mum told me yesterday that she never measured above 28cms with any of us and we were all fine!
Even if i did end up going for a growth scan, i know they are notoriously inaccurate too so as long as i'm feeling baby moving about i'm not getting myself in a panic about anything just yet!!

As for ML leave i am trying to space out lots of little lunch dates and appointments i have over the course of the next few weeks so i don't find myself getting too bored!! Yesterday i had MW appt and visited a friend, today i have another friend visiting and on Thursday i'm going to get my hair done (long overdue!!) so fairly busy this week, next week will be much of the same i guess!!

mumnerves · 15/03/2011 15:15

haloflo I had that problem too, we had boys name but couldn't agree on a girls, so having a boy solved the problem! Make sure you're getting plenty of rest x

Mrswajs I had a student mw measure me 2 cm under. The MW who was there re-measured me, so you're right it may be just her!

ToriaPumpkinHead · 15/03/2011 17:17

MrsWajs Try not to worry too much (easier said than done I realise) My mum's a midwfe and has had babies measuring all sorts, in fact she had one of my friends terrified she was going to have a huge first baby based on her measurements and when he came along he was only 6lbs 2oz! Plus, if they send you for a growth scan you'll get to see your baby again once more before the birth :) I really do think medical professionals just have to cover their arses sometimes, mum is constantly bemoaning the amount of things people get to worry about now (two cord vessels, NT, BFP before six weeks etc etc)

Halo I've a friend with two, who had horrific pregnancies and difficult labours with both, towards the end of her last pregnancy she told me in no uncertain terms this was the last. When I saw her three weeks later with her baby boy and (jokingly) asked when they were having another she said "Probably in a couple of years." So it can't be all that bad :) (waits for this to bite her on the ass in seven months time)

All quiet up here. Have had today off and have done nothing. Nothing at all. Am about to drag myself off the sofa to make dinner before cubs tonight (not in the mood in the slightest but have already cried off sick once and had to find a multitude of excuses as to why I didn't stay over and have a drink on Saturday night after OH passed out, and instead drove home, alone, in the snow, so think people might be beginning to suspect all is not normal...)

Truffkin · 15/03/2011 17:45

Hello ladies I'm tentatively stepping into the grads thread to claim my place! Thanks for the invite HighHeels I still don't think it's sunk in yet, although we had an accidentally well-planned weekend away to give us a few days away from it all to get our heads together, which was just lovely.

I got my BFP on 10th March and my EDD according to FF is 17th November, which makes me 4+5 eeek! Am unbelievably excited and managing to keep the nerves to a minimum for now. We'r having a few discussions about whether we tell anyone just yet (my preference is not to, but with a family wedding coming up next weekend I'm not sure how we'll get round the not drinking thing. Serves me right for being such a lush socialite in my TTC years!

I have a GP appointment next Tuesday and am hoping she can tell me about what food to avoid as I am clueless (and the internet advice is so contradictory I am already confused!) and over the weekend I pretty much ate everything on offer Blush I am actively avoiding nuts as I am asthmatic and have lots of allergies and know eating nuts will meana higher chance of my child developing a nut allergy. I hate being so allergic so am determined to do what I can to limit the impact of this on my baby. (Oh my, typing 'my baby' feels like a huge milestone!)

Thanks for reading my witterings, am looking forward to learning from ladies who have been there and done it as I progress!

Yay! 2 BFPs (congrats Lizzy and Truffkin, a birth (glad to hear Alastair arrived safely kurly) Mrs W is on maternity leave ,it is nearly time for haloflo's baby, and we are soon coming into Christmas baby making season!

Just called by to wish halo all the best with the big event, it really is the most magical experience and nothing will prepare you for how much you will love your wee baby. My advice? Go with it see how you get on but don't be a hero - the drugs are good! Will be thinking of you and checking in for the news.

Can't remember who was asking about baby chairs /bouncers but we got a BabyBjorn babysitter www.amazon.co.uk/BabyBjorn-Babysitter-Balance-Bouncer-Silver/dp/B001ET6P7I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1300212290&sr=8-1 based on all the reviews on amazon and it is expensive but amazing and imo worth every penny, we bring it everywhere with us when visiting and even brought it into a restaurant one Sunday as it folds flat and is easily tramnsported!

Can't believe Beth is 3 months old on Sunday, to celebrate we are taking the families out for a 'welcome to the world' celebration meal in lieu of a christening, i am going to have a trial run at making and icing a red velvet cake so better go make a start on it before the little one wakes up and is hungry!

Hopefully get onto the postgrads soon, is Cavemum still around on frolickers; i need some racing tips for the Cheltenham Festival, after last year's win on a horse called baby run and then 2 weeks later got my BFP!
