i have found maternity clothes rubbish. I love Boden ususally but have to say its not as exciting as there usual clothes. I have ordered the tunic and a top to see what its like......i have my dads 70th and a christening so need something nice

DaisyFields · 31/01/2011 17:52

Oh Jasmine, that tickled me!

CMH1stbaby · 31/01/2011 18:02

mrswantstobeamum - I also have the nesting thing going on, and have cleared out all sorts this weekend. I even found clothes belonging to DH that I've never even seen before (and we've been together for 12 years) so they are some of many things going to the charity shop! All in the name of freeing up our junk spare room to become the baby's bedroom!

Interested in all the pushchair chat - we're very undecided but had a little play around in mothercare at the weekend. My friend (who has a four month old) bought a really cheap one but regrets it for two reasons: 1) baby is facing away so when he was newborn and she was an anxious mom she had to keep running around the front to check he was ok!! and 2) not compatible with a car seat so had to lift him out (and wake him) to transfer him..
anyone have any views on the mothercare spin system?

re house issues - sympathise with you all, we moved at a ridiculous time (2007) at the peak of the housing market so our house is worth much less now. we're fortunate in that we can stay put for the time being but feeling your negative equity pain Sad

ipredicttrouble · 31/01/2011 18:03

Hello, can I join in?

Due on the 23rd June. Already have 1 DD who is nearly 7 months old.

CMH1stbaby · 31/01/2011 18:06

ps.. Jer79 and moomin156 - I got some nice maternity bits from asos.com but my favourite purchase is maternity jeans from dorothy perkins online... i have a wedding in April so am keeping my eye out for something dressier for that too...

CMH1stbaby · 31/01/2011 18:06

pps. welcome ipredicttrouble !! love the user name..

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 18:13

CMH we initially thought we liked the spin but have now moved towards the babystyle oyster. i personally thought the cot and pram was comfier on the oyster and i like the colour choices. We have a place called the baby barn by us which does good value prams ( i think they do anyway) they also have an online store

Clarkiee · 31/01/2011 18:18

Second what CMH1 says Asos do have a wide range. I've got lots of tops and a couple of dresses from Dorothy perkins. I love my mat jeans from Next but all the other stuff looks very boring. Mothercare catalogue looked like it had some lovely stuff in too.

takethatlady · 31/01/2011 18:20

kara our rent won't cover our mortgage either ... we'll get £750-800 for it and our mortgage is £1275 Shock. But we're planning (fingers crossed) to rent somewhere for £600 in the new place so the maths should all work out, so long as we don't have gaps between tenants. We shouldn't do as we live in Cambridge and people are desperate for decent rentals round here. Could you do that? Thanks daisyfields - mad how many of us are in similar predicaments. Damn the 2007 housing bubble!

Hello ipredicttrouble and congratulations. Like the name Grin

Grin at jasmine and Confused for your DH :)

jer I completely agree. Sick of the 'well, you're pregnant, so you might as well look like Pat Butcher'-style clothing in all the shops. That's if there is a maternity department! I got nice maternity jeans for £25 from Next, some very long, stretchy vest tops from H&M, and have bought some lovely non-maternity cardies of various kinds (some quite glam) which won't have to go over the bump. Also jumper dresses (non-maternity). Hoping this will see me through until the later stages ...

takethatlady · 31/01/2011 18:21

Oooh asos. Why didn't I think of that?! I'm off ....

Clarkiee · 31/01/2011 18:24

Feel for you ttl - must be very frustrating Angry.
We bought our house in 2005 (when it had started going up significantly but it hadn't gone crazy). We've had it double glazed throughout, brand new bathroom and a lot of general improvements since we bought it and we've just sold it for £50 more than we paid for it (and thats only because the people who are buying it off us have offered asking price!?!).

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 18:30

I do feel sorry for you all with housing worrys......we rent at the minute, DH's previous home is rented and we lose £75 a month but again it is in negative equity so not worth selling. Cant live in it as its miles counties away from both our jobs. After Bean is born and im on mat leave for 12 months i am going to take the plunge and be an 'army wife' and live in quarters to save us money.......so hopefully will only have to return for a few months to get mat pay. Hope to reduce hours and beg my parents to help out and put me up a couple of nights a week

CMH1stbaby · 31/01/2011 19:12

moomin156 - Just had a look at the babystyle oyster and it looks good doesn't it? ticks all our boxes! is it the a3 babybarn that you've seen it at? a friend told me about that place but haven't made it over there yet! if so we must live nearby each other!

swannny · 31/01/2011 19:44

Hey ladies... I have been away for ages, I'm so sorry! I'm having a mixed week - Been bogged down with a terrible cold.

But on the amazing side of things, I had my second scan and although we weren#t going to find out the sex, me ickle baby decided to flash his willy!

I'm having a boy and I am so over the moon. I was leaning towards a boy, but obviously would have been happy with a girl. All you want is a healthy baby right?!

Ahhhhhhh Grin and I just spent the weekend with my stepson, who I love so very much. He's so excited about his baby brother Alex :)

How are you all? I've missed you ladies xxx

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 19:51

CMH the babybarn by is is just off M5, Birmingham/ Bromsgrove exit

takethatlady · 31/01/2011 20:04

Nice to hear of other people doing the mortgage/renting thing moomin :) And glad you sold your house clarkiee, despite only getting enough for a nice maternity dress out of it! The credit crunch sucks :)

Everyone is swaying me toward the Oyster now ... just when I thought the 3D was the way forward. Asos is amazing, the clothes are so much better than anything I've seen elsewhere.

swannny what amazing news! You were obviously meant to find out. Congratulations on your LO - have you told people the name? If we're having a girl she's definitely going to be called Isobel Edith and in a way I'm happy for people to know because we're so sure about it. But if it's a boy we're still easily swayed so I don't want to tell people before we're certain. And either way we might leave it and surprise people ...

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 31/01/2011 20:15

Anyone else looked at PumkinPatch for mat clothes? I saw a few nice things in there before christmas, but can't afford them (was on the verge of the marino T-shirt as it's soo cold all the time, but not so good come Summer).

Hello to our new folk. Welcome to the club Grin

TTL it's rediculous how you have to be in the poo before they'll help. We had this with cc debt last year and had to be pig headedly stubborn to get help. Fingers crossed for you that your bank wakes up and comes to your rescue!

Jasmine yay for the movement. Bet you feel a whole lot better for it.

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 20:23

I dont like the handles on the 3d ( or anything similar), they hurt my hands. I like a single bar.......or is that just me LOL

swannny · 31/01/2011 20:29

takethatlady Yes... We had both our names from before we decided to go for it LOL. Alexander Michael will be his name :)

If it was a girl it would have been Lillian Rose. What a beautiful name Isobel Edith is :) Congrats. When you due again? xx

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 20:32

Lovely names TTL and swanny........

swannny · 31/01/2011 20:36

Thanks Moomin :) My stepson was so cute this weekend. Speaking to my belly and calling it Alex and not baby anymore.

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 20:39

it would be so nice to be able to call LO something other than bean.....but we have chosen not to know..will be difficult as bean gets bigger as it looks as if i may get more scans...another in 6 weeks.
We do have names though :)

CMH1stbaby · 31/01/2011 20:41

ah moomin different baby barn! might check out the website tho.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 31/01/2011 21:09

Swanny - congrats on your boy! My Ds is utterly scrumptious. He looks like a little Botticelli angel :)

One of the ladies on my PN thread rented her house to a relative of a friend, who then trashed her house. If you are going to let, go through an agent. A couple of friends rented their houses out through ages and they said the extra money was worth paying for piece of mind.

moomin156 · 31/01/2011 21:34

Ours is rented through an agent which is why we lose money per month, but we have no involvememt. They are responsible for checking renters, house checks, finances etc. Think it is worth it, completely agree with kara
